NFL Post Week 16 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings

A chair on fire... metaphor "In The Hot Seat"

Top 7 Coaches on the NFL Post Week 16 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings

It May Be Christmas Time But That Doesn’t Mean That Mr. Johnny Cash Can’t Tell These Hot Seat Coaches the Happy Holidays TRUTH! Give It To Them Straight Johnny!

1.  Mike Shanahan, Washington Redskins – Daniel Snyder has owned the Washington Redskins for….

15 Seasons

…..since he purchased the team in the spring of 1999 and under…

7 Different Head Coaches

…the Redskins have put up….

4 Winning Seasons

….and Washington has been to the Playoffs…

4 Times

…..in the past 15 Seasons which in business terms means the Redskins have succeeded at a rate of…

26.7% of the time

….and that is on a scale in the NFL where if a team that doesn’t go to the Playoffs at least HALF or 50% the time over a 10-year timeframe the team is a…

Complete and Total Failure!

Considering the amount of money that Redskins owner Daniel Snyder has spent and continues to spend on Washington coaches and players we would thus judge the Washington Redskins over the past 15 NFL Seasons to be nothing less than…

A Complete and Total Disaster

….that would have probably been a Helluva lot better off if the first five people randomly chosen out of the Washington DC phone book had been hired to run the team!

We have many Coaches Hot Seat Members that worked in Washington DC either on Capitol Hill, at the White House, in Presidential Campaigns or in jobs related to the US Military and we…

Know what the Washington Redskins used to be

….and what…

The Washington Redskins are right now

…which is a football team on a seven game losing streak and nothing to play for AGAIN in their final game of the season against the New York Giants.

What we would do if we purchased the Washington Redskins tomorrow?

Well, if we had unlimited amounts of money backed-up by an NFL TV package that could hide Bogus and Stupid decisions made by Idiot Owners and General Managers we would of course immediately….

Fire Mike Shanahan

…..because THREE losing seasons in FOUR years on the job in Washington could have been accomplished by…

Bozo the Clown

….and Bozo the Clown works for a Helluva lot cheaper than $7 Million Dollars a year! Try about $50K a year to get THREE losing seasons in FOUR years on the job for Bozo!

Now what Daniel Snyder might do relative to Mike Shanahan’s future could be a Helluva lot different since Snyder will owe Mr. THREE Losing Seasons in FOUR Years on the Job $7 Million Dollars for 2014 if he fires him in the next couple of weeks which is a nice firing bonus which are becoming all too uncommon in the Complete Damn Idiocy that is NFL Owners, General Managers and College Athletic Directors which are often roles filled by First-Class Idiots that are lucky to get themselves dressed in the morning forget about having a clue how to negotiate a….

Legitimate and Sane Employment Contract

…that actually incentivizes a coach to win and doesn’t set him up for a big PAYOFF if he fails at doing his Damn job!

If Dan Snyder asked us for advice we would probably tell him to let Shanahan coach another year if he wanted to finish out his contract but then we cannot help but wonder….will Snyder and the Redskins get 100% effort out of Shanahan in 2014 especially if things go South early in the ’14 season and it looks like the Redskins are going to miss the Playoffs AGAIN as happened all too many Damn times in the last few years in Washington?

Maybe but then Bozo the Clown could have coached the Washington Redskins to records of….

6 – 10
5 – 11
10 – 6
3 – 12

…..so does it really matter who coaches the Redskins in 2014?

Probably not but then we here at Coaches Hot Seat are hypercompetitive when playing Ping-Pong forget about what we were like in our football playing days and are right now when it comes to our business lives and thus if we were sitting in the owner’s chair of the Redskins we would EXPECT the Washington Redskins to win in 2014 and our judgment right now is that…

Mike Shanahan would NOT be the best head coach for the Washington Redskins in 2014 IF the Redskins are interested in winning games, their division and a championship….PERIOD.

Oh, who would we hire to replace Mike Shanahan in Washington?

Well, if you are going to keep Robert Griffin III and have him as your starting QB then you will need a football coach that runs a spread-offense that is similar to what Chip Kelly is now running with the Philadelphia Eagles and with that in mind we can think of 4…maybe 5 current head coaches….that would be a great to very good fit with the Redskins.

So what will it be Dan?

Accept another season of this CRAP or hire a football coach that is going to find a way to WIN football games in Washington?

2. Dennis Allen, Oakland Raiders – The Oakland Raiders football team has been a….

Complete Freaking Joke

…for over a decade now and this headline and story is just another brick in the Idiocy Wall:

Terrelle Pryor’s Agent slams Dennis Allen, Mike Florio, Pro Football Talk

“The final game at Candlestick Park isn’t the only excitement in the Bay Area tonight.

The agent for Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor has gone public with an allegation that coach Dennis Allen has an agenda for making Pryor the starter for Week 17.

“I think they’re putting him in hopes that he fails,” Jerome Stanley told Scott Bair of CSN Bay Area. “That’s what I think Coach is doing. I think they’re putting him in hopes that he has a bad game, so he can then justify the Matt McGloin situation. I think that’s what’s going on, I do and it’s ridiculous.”

Some would say it’s ridiculous for Stanley to go public with such an inflammatory allegation, since it will now be hard for Pryor to get a serious opportunity elsewhere — unless Pryor hires a new agent.

“You have to understand the [situation] Coach is putting him in, he doesn’t want him to look good,” Stanley said. “And you can write that. He doesn’t want him to look good because, if he looks good this week, it makes the past five weeks look like a bad decision. [Allen] doesn’t want [Pryor] to look good, he wants him to look bad. That is what is going on.”

Memo to the Oakland Raiders:  STOP THE DAMN IDIOCY!

We here at Coaches Hot Seat really have to wonder….

Where in the Hell does the NFL find these…

Idiot Owners, General Managers and Head Coaches?

Before Dennis Allen became the head coach of the Oakland Raiders two seasons ago he had been the defensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos for…

ONE Freaking Season!

YES believe it or not…..Dennis Allen before he became a head coach in the NFL had been a coordinator for….

ONE Freaking Season!

Really….this is NOT A JOKE!

Dennis Allen is about as much qualified to be the head coach of the Oakland Raiders or any other NFL team as….

Lane Kiffin

….is and we wouldn’t hire Lane Kiffin to coach our sons’ Pee-Wee football teams!

Geez, when will the Complete Freaking Stupidity END in the NFL?

Dennis Allen is…

8 – 23

….in two seasons as the head coach of the Oakland Raiders and the Raiders play the Denver Broncos on Sunday to end the season so make that…

8 – 24

…..for Allen’s two-year run in Oakland.

Will an 8 – 24 record in two seasons in the NFL keep you employed in the NFL?

How the Hell could it when Bozo the Clown or Captain Kangaroo could have put up 4 – 12 records over the past two seasons in Oakland?

3.  Jason Garrett, Dallas Cowboys – The REAL story out of the Dallas Cowboys – Washington Redskins game on Sunday wasn’t another “great Tony Romo comeback” but rather the Dallas Cowboys had to rally late in the 4 th quarter to beat a…

Completely Hapless and Pitiful Team in the Washington Redskins

….that is on tract for…

THREE Freaking Wins in 2013!

YES…..the REAL story on Sunday was again that the Dallas Cowboys are a…

Pitiful Football Team and just a Shadow of the Great Football Team

….that the Cowboys used to be and the Cowboys AGAIN have to win a game on the final Sunday of the regular season to make it into the Playoffs.

That is Dallas Cowboys football?

Barely beating a Pitiful and Hapless Washington Redskins team and then having to beat a team AGAIN in the last week of the season to make the Playoffs?

That is something to celebrate?

Again…..Excellence and even Basic Competence to Do Your Damn Job continues to get Dumbed-Down in America which is magnified Millions of Times when it comes to the Dallas Cowboys of the 21 st Century which are in our opinion….

The WORST Run Pro Sports Franchise in America…..PERIOD.

Can the Dallas Cowboys beat the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday either with or without Tony Romo at QB?

Does it even matter when such a Stupid and Pitiful Question has to be asked in the first place when we are talking about a football team in the Dallas Cowboys that used to be GREAT but are now….anything but?

No, it doesn’t matter at all.

4.  Rex Ryan, New York Jets – Since losing in the AFC Championship Game in January 2011 Jets head coach Rex Ryan has put up a win/loss record over the past three seasons of…

18 – 25  (.419)

NO Playoff Appearances for the Jets

…..and if that isn’t firing material in the NFL especially at a marquee NFL team like the New York Jets then we don’t know what the Hell is!

Can Rex Ryan and the New York Jets beat the Miami Dolphins in Miami on Sunday to finish the 2013 season at…

8 – 8?

Does it even matter?

NO is the answer to that question and THAT is why Rex Ryan should be fired a week from today at the latest!

Who should the New York Jets hire to replace Rex Ryan?

Well, if Nick Saban doesn’t have the GUTS to come back to the NFL to disapprove that he wasn’t a…

Total and Complete Failure as a NFL Head Coach

….then we would probably try to hire someone like Chip Kelly to coach the Jets like this guy….

San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman

5.  Leslie Frazier, Minnesota Vikings – In four seasons as the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings Leslie Frazier has put up win/loss records of…

2010:  3 – 3
2011:  3 – 13
2012:  10 – 6
2013:  4 – 10 – 1

….for an overall win/loss record of…

20 – 32 – 1

….and the last Vikings head coach, Brad Childress, put up an overall win/loss records during five years on the job of…

39 – 35

Please, is it possible that Brad Children DID get fired after posting a…

….winning percentage with the Vikings and Leslie Frazier WOULD NOT be fired with a….

….winning percentage?

Not unless there is a MASSIVE double-standard in the NFL is the answer to that question.

6.  Jim Schwartz, Detroit Lions – With the Detroit Lions now out of the Playoffs for the 2013 season the question of head coach Jim Schwartz’s complete body of work in Detroit comes into question so let’s go to the numbers:

Jim Schwartz – 5 Seasons Head Coach of the Detroit Lions

1 Winning Season – 2011

1 Playoff Appearance – 2011

Records of…

2009:  2 – 14
2010:  6 – 10
2011:  10 – 6 – Lost in NFC Wild Card Game
2012:  4 – 12
2013:  7 – 8

Overall Record:  29 – 50  (.367)

Our opinion on Jim Schwartz’s FIVE year in Detroit:  Average at best and certainly the Hell not acceptable in the NFL….right?  We are talking about the…NFL….right? RIGHT!

Got Fired?

Jim Schwartz is about to have it!

7.  Greg Schiano, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – With stories like this floating around…

Report: James Franklin, Mike Munchak and Great Schiano have inquired about possible Penn State opening, Jack Jorgensen, FanSided.com

…..it is NO surprise to us that Greg Schiano would jump at the opportunity to get back into the college game at a place like Penn State and who knows there might be another college job that Schiano would have some interest in leaving the Bucs for in the next few weeks.

In TWO seasons with the Tampa Bay Bucs Greg Schiano has put up an overall win/loss record of…

11 – 20  (.355)

…and with THREE years left on his very lucrative contract which we here at Coaches Hot Seat would have structured in a much different way with a “reasonable and decreasing” buyout mainly because Schiano was a first-time NFL head coach and as everyone has seen in recent years first-time NFL head coaches are the ultimate…

You Never Know What the Hell You Are Going to Get!

IF the owners of the Tampa Bay Bucs had employed Coaches Hot Seat to negotiate Greg Schiano’s contract Schiano’s buyout after the end of Year 2 on the job with the Bucs would have been maximum….

$3 Million Dollars

….declining to $2M after Year 3 and $1M after Year 4 and if Schiano and his agent weren’t willing to agree to those terms then they could go jump off a cliff or in the case of Greg Schiano he could stay as the head coach at Rutgers which is in our opinion a better place for Greg to be…in the college game that is….but that’s not to say that Schiano can’t become a solid pro head coach if he continues to change his coaching style which in our opinion has seen some positive changes over the past 8 weeks.

Does it matter or not if the Tampa Bay Bucs beat the New Orleans Saints in New Orleans on Sunday?

Not really to the Bucs but it sure the Hell matters to the Saints!

What’s next for Greg Schiano after the 2013 season ends?

Your guess is as good as ours BUT for Damn sure the owners of the Tampa Bay Bucs could have used Coaches Hot Seat a couple of year ago or anyone with an IQ over room temperature to negotiate Greg Schiano’s contract!

Below is an article by former General Electric CEO Jack Welch that anyone in a “Hiring Position” in the NFL should read….make that MUST READ!

How I Hire:  The Must-Haves, the Definitely-Should-Haves and the Game-Changer, Jack Welch, Linkedin

How about another video from The Highwaymen?  This one is by Waylon Jennings – Luckenbach, Texas….ENJOY!

Oh Hell….why not the entire The Highwaymen, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash & Kris Kristofferson, concert from Long Island in 1990!
