Getting back to Nebraska the Huskers travel to New Jersey this week to play a Rutgers team that Nebraska has FOUR to FIVE more talent than as evidenced by a barely motivated Ohio State team blasting Rutgers 49 – 7 earlier this year.

Nebraska should DESTROY Rutgers by 3 or more touchdowns….so we cannot but wonder what will happen because there’s a coach on the opposite sideline that needs this win BADLY as well!

22.  Charlie Strong, Texas – We don’t want to write in this spot that we will hear things and repeat them verbatim in this blog BUT a Coaches Hot Seat member was in Austin, Texas last week on business and while eating some of that good Texas barbeque two friends of the Coaches Hot Seat member were talking about Charlie Strong and the following was said after much discussion on the state of Texas football:

“I have this feeling that if the right school made a decent offer to Charlie Strong he would take it.”

What the Hell does that mean?

Would Charlie Strong maybe take a little less money to coach somewhere other than Texas to put the very unique in-fighting that exists around the Texas football program behind him and his family?

We don’t know the answer to that question but as we look over the now open head coaching jobs or head coaching jobs that will more than likely be coming open in the next few weeks….

We have a feeling that if South Carolina offered Charlie Strong $4 million dollars a year he would take it and run for his life out of Austin, Texas….which is our humble opinion of course.

Why would Charlie Strong take a $1 million dollar a year paycut to go from Texas to South Carolina which is clearly not as good of a job as the Longhorns head coaching job?

Call it Quality of Life or call it Something That is Familiar BUT most of all call it…

There are Lots of Pompous Arrogant Asses surrounding the Texas Football program that believe they are God’s Gift to the Earth that can make Austin a very uncomfortable place for a head coach and his family to live and we wouldn’t blame Charlie Strong at all if he went to South Carolina BUT would the Gamecocks be interested in hiring Charlie Strong considering the current state of Texas football?

Maybe…..Maybe Not.
