A chair on fire... metaphor "In The Hot Seat"

The Regular Season Is Now Over Johnny Cash and the Millionaire Coaches Are on the Firing Line….This Is No Time To Let Up….Keep Giving Them Hell Mr. Cash!

Post Week 13 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings – 1 – 10 Hot Seat Head Coaches

1.  Gus Malzahn, Auburn – There is a lot we could write in this spot about the Auburn loss to Alabama in the Iron Bowl but why waste time listing the dozen-plus reasons that the Tigers had No Damn Chance to win that game with the gameplan the Tigers used which in our opinion….

Was designed by the Auburn coaches to stop Alabama from blowing Auburn out-of-stadium instead of winning the football game

….but instead let us turn to Gus Malzahn’s recent record in SEC Conference play at Auburn which has these lowlights:

6 – 10 in SEC Conference play last 2 seasons

4 – 9 in SEC Conference play in last 13 games

2 – 8 in SEC Conference play in last 10 games

Oh…in case you were wondering….

Auburn has paid Gus Malzahn $8 Million Dollars the last two football seasons in which he has won…

6 SEC Conference Games!

Several people here at Coaches Hot Seat have been to between 2 and 15 football games in Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium and we believe we have a pretty good handle on the “Auburn family” and the HUGE $40-plus Dollar commitment made to Auburn football each year and as we look at the historical record of AU football we find a very troubling trend…

Once a head coach starts trending down from a HIGH of wins and losses meaning….

Ralph “Shug” Jordan
Doug Barfield
Pat Dye
Terry Bowden
Tommy Tuberville
Gene Chizik

….the last SIX Auburn football coaches before Gus Malzahn the trend continues DOWNWARD until the coach either retires, is pushed-out, or is fired and in our opinion Auburn AD Jay Jacobs better Damn have a plan in place for what could be…

Complete and Total Disaster of a Season in 2016

….because if the TRUTH be known opposing teams have figured out how to stop the Chip Kelly – Gus Malzahn spread/hurry-up offense and unless you have an athletic future NFL quarterback under center that can make very quick and right decisions….see the Philadelphia Eagles Unfolding Disaster Right Now….the Chip Kelly – Gus Malzahn spread/hurry-up offense now has…

No Damn Chance of Working

….and thus why Jay Jacobs better have a handful of potential head coaches he is interested in hiring….

Assuming of course Jay Jacobs will hire the next head football coach at Auburn

….which we have heard is 50/50 right now.

No…putting up large video boards with someone else’s money…meaning the alums, boosters and fans of Auburn Football…does not guarantee your job security at Auburn or anywhere else and thus between now and a year from now there are TWO people on a Roaring Hot Seat at Auburn:

Gus Malzahn, Head Football Coach

Jay Jacobs, Auburn Athletic Director

2.  Darrell Hazell, Purdue – We are not quite sure what leverage that Purdue head coach has over Purdue athletic director Morgan Burke that he is using to get another year as the head coach at Purdue with these records on the board…

Overall:  6 – 30

Big Ten:  2 – 22

…but it must be something BIG because from any direction we look at the Purdue Football program in late November 2015 it’s in WORSE shape now than it was when the last head coach at Purdue Danny Hope was fired by Morgan Burke in late November 2012.

Darrell Hazell….nice guy….but if we take over the AD position at Purdue today we tell Hazell….

“Thanks son for your hard work but we are moving on and you are no longer employed by Purdue University.”

…and then we would immediately get on a plane and fly to Missoula, Montana and hire University of Montana head football coach…

Bob Stitt

…(who in his FIRST year has his Montana team in the Second Round of the FCS Playoffs against North Dakota State this week) which would bring some OFFENSE and FUN back to West Lafayette, Indiana and the Purdue Football program but then that would….

Make Too Much Damn Common Sense

….so don’t count on that happening anytime soon at Purdue University!

How Montana Head Coach Bob Stitt’s Lethal and Fun Offense Actually Works, Ian Boyd, SB Nation

Instead with Purdue AD Morgan Burke’s MASSIVE EGO he is more interested in NOT admitting he was wrong in firing Danny Hope and hiring Darrell Hazell and like a lot of Whack Jobs ADs with MASSIVE EGOS it’s our opinion here at Coaches Hot Seat that…

Morgan Burke would rather the Purdue Football program go in the toilet than Burke admit he made a dreadful mistake!

That’s a Damn fine example of a “Leader” you have running the athletic department at Purdue University there President of Purdue Mitch Daniels who a few years ago was too much of a COWARD to run for President of the United States in the Republican primaries against…Mitt Romney and a bunch of LOSERS!

3.  Charlie Strong, Texas – Just when you thought that Charlie Strong’s situation at Texas couldn’t get any worse with Strong sitting on records after TWO years on the job of…

Overall:  10 – 14

Big 12:  8 – 9

…with still a game left against at Baylor things got worse over the weekend with Iowa State hiring Matt Campbell from Toledo who just made the Big 12 that much TOUGHER because now the Cyclones will be…

Scoring A Helluva Lot of Points

….as well and Texas has a defensive coach that spent most of his coaching career in the South where putting up LOTS of points wasn’t that important and the question now is…

Can Charlie Strong pivot fast enough to find a way to score MORE points before he loses his job at Texas?

The easy answer to the above question is that either Charlie Strong will figure out that he’s going to need score 40-plus points a game in Big 12 play….Texas only scored over 40 points TWICE in 2015 in Big 12 games…or Charlie Strong will be out of a job at Texas a year from now!

Consider this for a moment….TEXAS FOOTBALL…over the past THREE football seasons under Mack Brown and Charlie Strong has posted a win/loss record of…

18 – 19

….and frankly we don’t see any way in Hell that Texas wins more than 7 games in 2016 which should just thrill fans of Texas Football who it will be noted if TRUTH be told have been on a downward spiral since the below story was published in June 2010:

Pac-10 set to invite 6 from Big 12, Chip Brown,

….with the Texas Football win/loss record standing at since the above story was published at…

40 – 35

Arrogance and Hubris comes with a price and with a smile on our faces we can write….

The Pompous Arrogant Asses at Texas starting with former Texas AD DeLoss Dodds and the last Texas AD Steve Patterson have gotten just what their Idiocy deserved and have put Texas Football in a Helluva hole that may take a decade to dig out of….maybe even longer!

4.  Steve Addazio, Boston College – At the end of the 2012 college football season then Steve Addazio the head football coach at Temple had just posted a record of….

4 – 7

…and was hired by Boston College to be their head coach in the wake of the Frank Spaziani firing which was greeted with a collective…

What the Hell?

….here at Coaches Hot Seat and in THREE seasons at BC Addazio has records on the board of…..

Overall:  17 – 21

ACC:  8 – 17

….and posted records in 2015 of…

3 – 9 overall

0 – 9 in ACC play

Call us CRAZY…but in your THIRD year coaching a college football team shouldn’t your team be getting BETTER…..not a Helluva lot WORSE?

Whatever the Hell is going on at Boston College right now from our vantage point in the peanut gallery after watching BC play a few times this year we can only say….

What or Who in the Hell is coaching this team?

….and when you are asking questions like that about a college football team you can pretty much Damn guarantee the head coach of that team is on the Hot Seat and this case with Steve Addazio with Steve now sitting on a….

Roaring Hot Seat!

5.  Mike MacIntyre, Colorado – With the Colorado loss to Utah on Saturday Mike MacIntyre had now completed THREE years as the head football coach at CU and has records on the board of…

Overall:  10 – 27

Pac-12:  2 – 25

….which we would classify as….

Not Very Damn Good

….and in Mike MacIntyre’s FOURTH season at Colorado in 2016 we think it will be almost impossible for CU to win 6 games with out-of-conference games against Colorado State and at Michigan (along with Idaho State) and another 9 games in Pac-12 play.

Bottom-Line:  If Colorado doesn’t get to at least 6 wins in Mike MacIntyre’s FOURTH season at CU then he is DONE which as you can see is in CAPITAL letters for good reason!

6.  Les Miles, LSU – If you like EVERY sane American thought that former Louisiana Governor and US Senator Huey P. Long…a.k.a. “The Kingfish” was a Total Freak Show….

….then you MIGHT and we repeat MIGHT be able to understand the Total Freak Show that was Les Miles’ Firing and then Non-Firing at LSU in the last week that had a Helluva lot more to do with Louisiana politics than whether Les Miles has a Damn clue to what he is doing as a football coach which you can actually…

READ ALL ABOUT the Total Freak Show

…in the blog of one Scott McKay appropriately titled The Hayride which has the LOW and even LOWERDOWN on Les Miles and the Total Clown Show that is the State of Louisiana:

Notes on A. F. King Debacle, Scott McKay, The Hayride

Getting back to Les Miles and as Frank Sinatra used to say in Las Vegas….

“There ain’t no other place to go!”

…..beating a mediocre Texas A&M team that has a head coach in Kevin Sumlin that is a piece of balsa wood breaking from getting his own as fired in College Station means NOTHING unless of course you love being AVERAGE which as we have found out in the last weeks Hundreds of Thousands of LSU fans love….

Being Average!

As our fathers used to tell us all the time…

“The world needs ditch diggers son and if you want to be average Hell you can be a ditch digger.”

….and from what we can tell there are Helluva lot of ditch diggers in the state of Louisiana who rather like that Les Miles is…

10 – 10 in his last 20 SEC Conference Games against SEC teams with .500 or better records

….and if a .500 record doesn’t spell A-V-E-R-A-G-E at L-S-U then NOTHING will and thus why Les Miles will enter the 2016 college football season on one of the Hottest Seats in the country which is appropriate for ANY head coach at LSU that is sitting on a record of….

14 – 10

…in SEC Conference play in his last 3 seasons on the job….right?

Oh…that’s RIGHT this is Louisiana home of Huey P. Long, Bobby Jindal and Les Miles which is rightly called….

A Complete Freaking Clown Show!

7.  Mark Stoops, Kentucky – We are BIG believers in comparing current head coaches at schools with what previous head coaches at those same school were able to accomplish especially when comparing a current head coach to what a previous fired head coach was able to do.

Case In Point:  Mark Stoops replaced Joker Phillips at Kentucky and both now have THREE years on the board to compare to each other and let’s get right to that then:

Mark Stoops – Current Kentucky Head Coach

Overall: 12 – 24

SEC: 4 – 20

Joker Phillips – Fired Kentucky Head Coach

Overall: 13 – 24

SEC: 4 – 20

Yes…that is mighty Damn consistent in being consistently Damn bad for Kentucky Football over the past SIX seasons which includes….

8 SEC Conference Wins

….in an SEC Eastern Division that has NEVER been weaker with Tennessee, Florida, and Georgia all struggling compared to their past histories and thus just when Kentucky should have been SURGING to the top of the SEC East….they are still mired in the bottom!

Coaches Hot Seat to Lexington:  We think you have a problem…NO….make that we KNOW you have a Helluva problem and seriously now…does ANYONE think that Kentucky will win SIX games under Mark Stoops in 2016 in his FOURTH year on the job having to play 8 SEC Conference Games, Louisville, and Southern Miss which might just lay an EPIC beatdown on Kentucky on September 3, 2016 in Lexington?

Here’s a Recommendation to Mark Stoops:  If you spend ONE MINUTE not working on making YOUR Kentucky Football team better over the next 9 months then what the Hell are you doing son because your coaching future is on the line….PERIOD!

8.  Kevin Sumlin, Texas A&M – After a long night celebrating the Stanford win over Notre Dame late into the night on Saturday the phone rang mighty Damn early in San Francisco on Sunday morning and when we saw the Houston area code on the Caller ID we knew who was calling and what he was calling about:

Houston A&M Alum: “Did you see that shit last night?”

Coaches Hot Seat: “You mean Notre Dame getting their Sorry Asses beat?”

Houston A&M Alum: “Funny….No Dammit that SHIT that Kevin Sumlin put on the field against an LSU team that barely showed-up to play against Arkansas and Ole Miss and is suddenly the Doomsday Freaking Defense!”

Coaches Hot Seat: “Yes….we saw the game and someone here said at the end…in Kevin Sumlin’s 51 st game as the head coach at Texas A&M at the end of his FOURTH season on the job his football team scored 7 points.”

Houston A&M Alum: “7 Freaking Points! What in God’s name are these A&M coaches doing all week? They have two of the most highly-recruited quarterbacks in the country on their roster and the Aggies scored 7 Freaking Points in the last game of the year!”

Coaches Hot Seat: “Yes…7 Points…what was it Herman Melville wrote in Moby Dick about this very subject?”

Houston A&M Alum: “Hell…I don’t know what Herman Melville wrote in Moby Dick but I bet your pretentious arrogant ass is going tell me now aren’t you?”

Coaches Hot Seat: “Yes….Melville wrote in Moby Dick…“It is the easiest thing in the world for a man to look as if he had a great secret in him.”

Houston A&M Alum: “And what in the Hell does that supposed to mean?”

Coaches Hot Seat: “You gift a coach a player like Johnny Manziel and …“It is the easiest thing in the world for a man to look as if he had a great secret in him.”

Houston A&M Alum: “Amen to that…and if you take Johnny Manziel away from Sumlin at A&M he is already out of a job.”

Coaches Hot Seat: “Exactly right..but then Alabama scored 30 points against LSU, Arkansas scored 31 and Ole Miss scored 38…and the Aggies scored 7….not even Herman Melville could explain that.”

Houston A&M Alum: “Damn right and from what I am hearing there are Helluva lot of problems within this Texas A&M football team that are tearing it apart and we have a head coach making $5 Million Dollars Plus a year posting .500 records in SEC play!:

Coaches Hot Seat: “We hear you….now go get a cocktail at the club after church and we will talk on Tuesday afternoon.”

Houston A&M Alum: “Oh yea….Tuesday afternoon….talk to you then.”

Kevin Sumlin has now coached Texas A&M for FOUR seasons and has records on the board of…

Overall:  36 – 15

SEC:  17 – 15

….and in case Kevin Sumlin doesn’t know it when you are making $5 Million Dollars Plus a year there are rightfully going to be a Helluva lot of Aggies pissed-off when you have a record of…

11 – 13

….in SEC Conference play in your last THREE years on the job and a record of…

5 – 9

….in SEC play at home in Kyle Field!

Herman Melville was right….

“It is the easiest thing in the world for a man to look as if he had a great secret in him.”

…and unless Kevin Sumlin turns things around in a Helluva hurry at A&M the WHALE that is Texas A&M Football will be the end of his big-time coaching career meaning a year from now could very well be the last time the public hears Kevin Sumlin’s name until of course he is introduced at Texas State to replace Dennis Franchione!

9.  Mike Riley, Nebraska – It’s impossible for us to pull against Mike Riley here at Coaches Hot Seat and since it’s our opinion…

Iowa is a Total Fraud and has played and beaten NO ONE in 2015

….we were pulling for the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday but alas…the Huskers lost…and with that loss Nebraska posted a record of…

5 – 7

….on the 2015 season and in Mike Riley’s 15 seasons as a Head Coach at Oregon State and Nebraska that was the…

7 th time Riley has posted a LOSING record

…..and to understand how low of depths Nebraska Football have sunk there are people in Lincoln, Nebraska PRAYING that enough teams don’t get to 6 wins so the 5 – 7 Huskers can go to a bowl game!

Leaving aside the Complete Idiocy that even 6 – 6 teams are going to bowl games how Damn PITIFUL is it that folks around the Nebraska Football program are hoping and rooting against teams to win another game to get to 6 wins so the Huskers can go to a bowl game?

Memo to Nebraska Fans:  As the Great William Shakespeare wrote in The Tempest….

“What’s Past is the Prologue”

….and for those Huskers fans not slow on the up-take they already understand completely what they have now and what is coming and if not a quick visit to Mike Riley’s Wikipedia page will be education enough:

Mike Riley, Wikipedia

10.  Paul Johnson, Georgia Tech – With the loss to Georgia on Saturday consider that since Georgia Tech won the ACC in 2009 the Yellow Jackets under Paul Johnson have posted 5 or MORE LOSSES in…

5 of the last 6 Seasons

…..and have posted 6 or MORE LOSSES in…

4 of the last 6 Seasons

…which to us points to an Unhealthy Football Program under Paul Johnson….in our humble opinion of course…which is caused by…

Paul Johnson’s Personal Arrogance

….towards ANYTHING that does not serve to promote Paul Johnson which is our humble opinion of course.

We asked one of the wives of a Coaches Hot Seat member who used to work in the field of psychology before leaving work to raise her children over a decade ago to watch some clips we had put together of Paul Johnson coaching over the past few years at Georgia Tech and at Navy and give us her raw opinion on what she saw in Paul Johnson and below is her assessment which is of course her opinion:

“Interestingly the Paul Johnson I saw at Georgia Tech is a lot different than when he was at Navy. At Navy Johnson looked confident borderline cocky on the sideline but pretty healthy overall mental-wise….at Georgia Tech he looks arrogant, pissed-off a lot of the time, much more unsure of himself and his team, less trusting of his players…even confused at what he is watching at times but overarching all of that is what looks like a deep-seated narcissism that is creating lots of tension among his players, coaches and football team. That’s what I see in this Paul Johnson character.”

What is Narcissism you ask?

“A pattern of traits and behaviors which signify infatuation and obsession with one’s self to the exclusion of all others and the egotistic and ruthless pursuit of one’s gratification, dominance and ambition.”

Yep…that’s what we see in Paul Johnson as well and in case Paul Johnson doesn’t know it you CANNOT be a successful head football coach and be a Raging Narcissist….just ask Lane Kiffin who is of the BIGGEST Pompous Arrogant Asses to ever coach a down of football in America and who we wouldn’t hire to coach a Pee Wee football team because who in the Hell wants a Pompous Arrogant Ass around kids of any age?

There really is only ONE way out for Paul Johnson if he has any hope to turn around the Georgia Tech Football program now because the stuff that he and we were raised on in the 1970s just…

Flat-Out Does Not Work Anymore

….with today’s kids and either Paul Johnson will change with the times which we have seen EVERY successful head coach in college football do in recent years to at least some extent OR Paul Johnson will be out of his job at Georgia Tech a year from now….if not sooner.

The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other Fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world.

Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped and battle hardened. He will fight savagely.

But this is the year 1944! Much has happened since the Nazi triumphs of 1940-41. The United Nations have inflicted upon the Germans great defeats, in open battle, man-to-man. Our air offensive has seriously reduced their strength in the air and their capacity to wage war on the ground. Our Home Fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in weapons and munitions of war, and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained fighting men. The tide has turned! The free men of the world are marching together to Victory!

I have full confidence in your courage and devotion to duty and skill in battle.

We will accept nothing less than full Victory! Good luck! And let us beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking.”

Order of the Day (2 June 1944) Message to troops before the Normandy landings

“We must be ready to dare all for our country. For history does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. We must acquire proficiency in defense and display stamina in purpose. We must be willing, individually and as a Nation, to accept whatever sacrifices may be required of us. A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both. These basic precepts are not lofty abstractions, far removed from matters of daily living. They are laws of spiritual strength that generate and define our material strength. Patriotism means equipped forces and a prepared citizenry. Moral stamina means more energy and more productivity, on the farm and in the factory. Love of liberty means the guarding of every resource that makes freedom possible–from the sanctity of our families and the wealth of our soil to the genius of our scientists.”

First Inaugural address (20 January 1953)

“As we peer into society’s future, we — you and I, and our government — must avoid the impulse to live only for today, plundering for our own ease and convenience the precious resources of tomorrow. We cannot mortgage the material assets of our grandchildren without risking the loss also of their political and spiritual heritage. We want democracy to survive for all generations to come, not to become the insolvent phantom of tomorrow.”

“In preparing for battle, I have always found that plans are useless but planning is indispensable.”

“Character in many ways is everything in leadership. It is made up of many things, but I would say character is really integrity. When you delegate something to a subordinate, for example, it is absolutely your responsibility, and he must understand this. You as a leader must take complete responsibility for what the subordinate does. I once said, as a sort of wisecrack, that leadership consists of nothing but taking responsibility for everything that goes wrong and giving your subordinates credit for everything that goes well.”

“I’m going to command the whole shebang.” Comment to his wife Mamie, after being informed by George Marshall that he would be in command of Operation Overlord

“We look upon this shaken Earth, and we declare our firm and fixed purpose — the building of a peace with justice in a world where moral law prevails. The building of such a peace is a bold and solemn purpose. To proclaim it is easy. To serve it will be hard. And to attain it, we must be aware of its full meaning — and ready to pay its full price. We know clearly what we seek, and why. We seek peace, knowing that peace is the climate of freedom. And now, as in no other age, we seek it because we have been warned, by the power of modern weapons, that peace may be the only climate possible for human life itself. Yet this peace we seek cannot be born of fear alone: it must be rooted in the lives of nations. There must be justice, sensed and shared by all peoples, for, without justice the world can know only a tense and unstable truce. There must be law, steadily invoked and respected by all nations, for without law, the world promises only such meager justice as the pity of the strong upon the weak. But the law of which we speak, comprehending the values of freedom, affirms the equality of all nations, great and small. Splendid as can be the blessings of such a peace, high will be its cost: in toil patiently sustained, in help honorably given, in sacrifice calmly borne.” Second Inaugural address (21 January 1957)

“I do have one instruction for you, General. Do something about that damned football team.” Said to William Westmoreland in 1960 when Westmoreland assumed the post of Superintendent of West Point.

“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population. It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some fifty miles of concrete pavement. We pay for a single fighter plane with a half million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people. This is, I repeat, the best way of life to be found on the road the world has been taking. This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron. … Is there no other way the world may live?”

Farewell Address, January 17, 1961

“We now stand ten years past the midpoint of a century that has witnessed four major wars among great nations. Three of these involved our own country. Despite these holocausts, America is today the strongest, the most influential, and most productive nation in the world. Understandably proud of this pre-eminence, we yet realize that America’s leadership and prestige depend, not merely upon our unmatched material progress, riches and military strength, but on how we use our power in the interests of world peace and human betterment.

Throughout America’s adventure in free government, our basic purposes have been to keep the peace, to foster progress in human achievement, and to enhance liberty, dignity and integrity among peoples and among nations. To strive for less would be unworthy of a free and religious people. Any failure traceable to arrogance or our lack of comprehension or readiness to sacrifice would inflict upon us grievous hurt, both at home and abroad.

Crises there will continue to be. In meeting them, whether foreign or domestic, great or small, there is a recurring temptation to feel that some spectacular and costly action could become the miraculous solution to all current difficulties. A huge increase in newer elements of our defenses; development of unrealistic programs to cure every ill in agriculture; a dramatic expansion in basic and applied research — these and many other possibilities, each possibly promising in itself, may be suggested as the only way to the road we wish to travel. But each proposal must be weighed in the light of a broader consideration: the need to maintain balance in and among national programs, balance between the private and the public economy, balance between the cost and hoped for advantages, balance between the clearly necessary and the comfortably desirable, balance between our essential requirements as a nation and the duties imposed by the nation upon the individual, balance between actions of the moment and the national welfare of the future. Good judgment seeks balance and progress. Lack of it eventually finds imbalance and frustration.

Now this conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence — economic, political, even spiritual — is felt in every city, every Statehouse, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources, and livelihood are all involved. So is the very structure of our society.

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.

Akin to, and largely responsible for the sweeping changes in our industrial-military posture, has been the technological revolution during recent decades. In this revolution, research has become central, it also becomes more formalized, complex, and costly. A steadily increasing share is conducted for, by, or at the direction of, the Federal government.

Today, the solitary inventor, tinkering in his shop, has been overshadowed by task forces of scientists in laboratories and testing fields. In the same fashion, the free university, historically the fountainhead of free ideas and scientific discovery, has experienced a revolution in the conduct of research. Partly because of the huge costs involved, a government contract becomes virtually a substitute for intellectual curiosity. For every old blackboard there are now hundreds of new electronic computers. The prospect of domination of the nation’s scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present — and is gravely to be regarded.

Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.

As we peer into society’s future, we — you and I, and our government — must avoid the impulse to live only for today, plundering for our own ease and convenience the precious resources of tomorrow. We cannot mortgage the material assets of our grandchildren without risking the loss also of their political and spiritual heritage. We want democracy to survive for all generations to come, not to become the insolvent phantom of tomorrow.”

During the long lane of the history yet to be written, America knows that this world of ours, ever growing smaller, must avoid becoming a community of dreadful fear and hate, and be, instead, a proud confederation of mutual trust and respect. Such a confederation must be one of equals. The weakest must come to the conference table with the same confidence as do we, protected as we are by our moral, economic, and military strength. That table, though scarred by many past frustrations, cannot be abandoned for the certain agony of the battlefield.

Disarmament, with mutual honor and confidence, is a continuing imperative. Together we must learn how to compose differences, not with arms, but with intellect and decent purpose.”

“One circumstance that helped our character development: we were needed. I often think today of what an impact could be made if children believed they were contributing to a family’s essential survival and happiness. In the transformation from a rural to an urban society, children are — though they might not agree — robbed of the opportunity to do genuinely responsible work.”

11 College Football Head Coaches Facing CANNOT LOSE Games In Week THIRTEEN

“They got a name for the winners in the world….I want a name when I lose…they call Alabama the Crimson Tide….call me Deacon Blues…Deacon Blues.”

Enjoy the GREAT Steely Dan performing Deacon Blues!

1.  Les Miles, LSU vs. Texas A&M – With reports on Thanksgiving Day that Les Miles could be fired as soon as this coming Sunday no matter what happens in the Texas A&M – LSU game….

Report: Les Miles tenure may be over as soon as Sunday, The Daily Reveille

….we thought it might be worth reviewing AGAIN exactly why Les Miles has come under such pressure in 2015 which in reality isn’t a ONE year problem but is a THREE problem at LSU made worse by THREE straight losses with the last game against Ole Miss looking like…

A LSU football team that was just flat-out NOT ready to play and even worse…NOT giving a Damn that their head coach’s job was on the line!

There has been much talk in the media in the last couple of weeks about Les Miles’ record in SEC over the past THREE seasons which with one game to go in 2015 stands at…

13 – 10

….which is certainly bad enough at a Powerhouse SEC Football Program like LSU for a head coach to lose his job but let’s go inside the numbers of Les Miles’ record in SEC play over the past THREE seasons and see exactly how bad things have gotten in Baton Rouge.

Over the past THREE seasons Les Miles’ LSU football team has played…

23 SEC Conference Football Games

…posting a record of…

13 – 10

….and in those 23 games LSU has played….

19 SEC Teams with .500 or better records

4 SEC Teams with less than .500 records

….and Les Miles against SEC Teams with LOSING records has been..

4 – 0

….and Les Miles against SEC Teams with .500 or better records has been…

9 – 10

You got that right at LSU….at LSU….at LSU….Les Miles over the past THREE seasons has posted a record of…

9 – 10

….against SEC Teams with .500 or better records and it’s our opinion here at Coaches Hot Seat that ANYTHING less than a…

70% Winning Percentage

…against .500 of better SEC teams each season at LSU is FAILING and Les Miles’ winning percentage over the last THREE seasons…

47% Winning Percentage

Oh…just for comparison over the last THREE seasons Nick Saban and Alabama have also played 23 SEC Teams as of today and Saban has posted an overall record in those games of…

20 – 3

….and against LOSING SEC Teams he has posted a record of…

3 – 0

….and Nick Saban against SEC Teams with .500 or better records is at…

17 – 3

For Nick Saban that would be a winning percentage against SEC Teams with .500 or better record is…

85% Winning Percentage

Why is Les Miles on the Hot Seat and rightfully about to lose his job at LSU?

Les Miles:

47% Winning Percentage against SEC Teams with .500 or better record

Nick Saban:

85% Winning Percentage against SEC Teams with .500 or better records

PERIOD….Quit the Crying and Excuse Making…Les Miles Just Flat-Out has NOT gotten the job done at LSU and for Damn sure LSU should have a head coach that has a winning percentage in SEC play against teams with .500 or better records above….

…and if you disagree with that you either Don’t Know Shit about Football OR you are a Complete and Total Ass Kisser!

2.  Kevin Sumlin, Texas A&M vs. LSU – With Les Miles now only a few days from losing his job at LSU the coach on the opposing sideline in the Texas A&M – LSU game may be under even more pressure because Kevin Sumlin is sitting on one of the MOST Powerful College Football programs in the country at Texas A&M and over the past THREE seasons in SEC play he has a record of…

11 – 12

….on the board and even with a win over LSU he is still only at .500 in SEC play the last THREE seasons and if Kevin Sumlin is under the impression that he has EARNED that $5 Million Dollars A Year by posting a…

.500 or worse record in SEC play the last THREE seasons

….then Kevin Sumlin should have his ass throttled out of College Station tonight because .500 or worse at Texas A&M in SEC Conference play is OUTRAGEOUS and should and will be “Firing Numbers” if things don’t pick-up in a Helluva way in 2016 meaning…

Texas A&M better Damn win the SEC West in 2016

…or Kevin Sumlin will be out of his job as well.

Oh….you want to make $5 Million Dollars A Year Kevin Sumlin and Les Miles?

Then how about Damn EARNING that money instead of coaching AVERAGE Damn football teams?

Is that really too much to ask for people hauling down Millions of Dollars A Year?

3.  Gus Malzahn, Auburn vs. Alabama – Talk about another SEC head coach that REALLY could use a win on Saturday Auburn’s Gus Malzahn is a loss to Alabama from finishing the 2015 regular season at…

6 – 6

….and when one realizes this Auburn team is just flat-out LOADED with talent and in our opinion will play only THREE teams with equal or more talent in 2015…

LSU, Georgia and Alabama

….there really is no Damn excuse for Auburn to be losing 5 or 6 games in 2015 and thus why Gus Malzahn desperately needs a win in the Iron Bowl to get momentum back on the side of the Auburn Tigers against the steamroller that is coming to The Plains….the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Yes….of course Auburn can beat Alabama….this is the Iron Bowl after all….and like EVERY Nick Saban coached team this 2015 Alabama team has the same weaknesses on defense that can be exploited with the right gameplan, approach and play-calling which so very few Damn teams do against Alabama for some reason….

Must be something in the water in the South that causes Idiocy especially in college towns with head coaches just not having the common Damn sense to attack the weakest point on the Alabama football team which is of course…

Neutralizing Nick Saban’s influence on the game itself

Amazingly…Auburn played in the 2013 – 14 Bogus BCS National Title Game and if the Tigers lose to Alabama on Saturday Gus Malzahn’s record in SEC play over the last TWO seasons will stand at….

6 – 10

….and in case Gus Malzahn doesn’t know it that is NOT a sustainable record at Auburn where the good folks….”The Family”….that supports Auburn Football spend over…

$40 Million Dollars A Year on the Auburn Football Program

…..including over $4 Million Dollars on the head coach who better Damn start EARNING all that money or Malzahn will be out of a job as well in very Damn short order.

4.  Mark Richt, Georgia vs. Georgia Tech – Not that we know what is going on in the minds of the folks in and around the Georgia Football program especially the ones that write the big checks and have large amounts of influence….BUT…..this past week one of our Georgia-alum buddies told us at lunch at a GREAT restaurant in Cumming, Georgia….

“IF Mark Richt loses to Georgia Tech he is DONE at Georgia”

Now that this rather calm and consistent Georgia-alum who was graduated from UGA in the early 1980s would make such a matter-of-fact statement took us aback BUT we have been watching the Georgia Football program very closely over the past TWO football season and it’s our opinion…

The folks with money and influence at Georgia are sick of Mark Richt’s routine which includes some high notes BUT in recent years unexplainable losses….Florida….and inexplicable close calls….Georgia Southern….that do not reflect well on a Georgia Football program that SHOULD…

Dominate the SEC Eastern Division

….and be playing for and often winning SEC Conference Titles EVERY year.

With all of the above in mind…it’s our opinion here at Coaches Hot Seat that…

IF Mark Richt loses to Georgia Tech he is DONE at Georgia

…and Mark Richt might be done if the Bulldogs beat the Yellow Jackets OR it’s possible….

Mark Richt has already accepted another college football head coaching job

Oh….we’re paying attention Mark Richt…paying Damn close attention….the question is…are “OTHERS” far away paying close attention to what Richt has done at Georgia in recent years? Probably not.

5.  Mark Stoops, Kentucky vs. Louisville – The Bottom-Line numbers for Mark Stoops are very easy to grasp and understand…

THREE Seasons at Kentucky

No .500 or better seasons…Yet

Records of…

Overall: 12 – 13

SEC: 4 – 20

…..and record in 2015…

5 – 6

….and needing a WIN over Louisville to get to 6 wins and a bowl game.

Bottom-Line TRUTH:  Mark Stoops not only needs this win over Louisville to get to 6 wins he also needs to get a win over cross-state rival Louisville which is at the weakest place it has been in years and very Damn beatable IF Kentucky plays a good football game which Kentucky really hasn’t done in 2015 so we don’t give Mark Stoops and the Wildcats much chance to win this game and thus Mark Stoops will more than likely be on a Roaring Hot Seat going into the 2016 season.

Good Luck Mark!

6.  Kevin Wilson, Indiana vs. Purdue – Kevin Wilson is in his FIFTH season at Indiana with records on the board of…

Overall: 19 – 40

Big Ten: 7 – 32

….with NO .500 or better season and NO bowl game trips and thus with the Hoosiers now at 5 – 6 on the season this game against Purdue might just be the….

CANNOT LOSE Game of the Weekend

….because a loss in this spot and…

NO .500 or better seasons in FIVE years on the job at Indiana?

Come on….even at Indiana a head football coach should be able to get at least SIX wins ONE time in FIVE years….right?

7.  Todd Graham, Arizona State vs. California – At the beginning of the 2015 season some were touting Arizona State as a potential participant in the College Football Playoff which got LOTS of laughs here at Coaches Hot Seat since we have seen Arizona State play in person several times in the last few years under head coach Todd Graham and it’s our opinion having seen Graham up-close on the sideline…

Todd Graham is way Damn too volatile during games bordering on Out-of-Freaking-Control which ends up costing his team BIG time because when players see a head coach Out-of-Freaking-Control they think to themselves something on the order of…

Who in the Hell is driving this ship and does he have a Freaking Clue what he is doing?

Getting back to 2015 this Arizona State team is now on records of…

6 – 5 overall

4 – 4 in Pac-12 play

….and needing a win at California on Saturday to avoid nothing less than a…

Complete Freaking Disaster of a Season

…for ASU in 2015 and if things get ugly in the second-half of this game against the Bears….watch-out folks….Todd Graham may come Completely Unglued!

8.  Bret Bielema, Arkansas vs. Missouri – Missouri has looked so bad in 2015 it would take some real work or rather the Arkansas football team NOT showing up to play this home game against the Tigers BUT if for some reason Arkansas did happen to NOT show-up and lose to Missouri on Saturday and finish at 6 – 6 for a SECOND straight season……

Chubby Man’s ass will be on a Roaring Hot Seat come Monday morning and as usual we will have the Extra-Extra-Large Roaring Hot Seat ready to go if Bret Bielema and his football team trip-up and lose to Mizzou!

9.  Butch Jones, Tennessee vs. Vanderbilt – Butch Jones has done a nice job rallying the Tennessee Vols after a 4 – 4 start which included the Tennessee coaching staff tossing away wins against…

Oklahoma, Florida and Arkansas

….BUT now that the Vols are 7 – 4 with THREE straight wins everything is looking up in Knoxville….Hold It A Second….IF Tennessee should happen to lose to Vanderbilt on Saturday in a game that Tennessee just flat-out CANNOT LOSE guess where Butch Jones will find his ass come Monday morning?

Right back on the Hot Seat!

Memo to Butch Jones:  Don’t lose to Vandy son…and if you do = Welcome Back to the Hot Seat son!

10.  Mike Riley, Nebraska vs. Iowa – The Magical Mystery Tour of Mike Riley at Nebraska continues to roll on even as we here at Coaches Hot Seat…

Shake Our Heads and Laugh Out Loud

….every time we remember that Mike Riley is the Head Football Coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers who play the undefeated Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday in a game that is BIG for both coaches because….

Mike Riley with a loss will see his Nebraska team….Heads Shaking and Laughing Out Loud…..drop to 5 – 7 on the season which at Nebraska is…Complete Freaking Disaster

Kirk Ferentz whose Iowa football team has played NO ONE in 2015 would see their chances for the College Football Playoff go up in smoke and since Iowa has played NO ONE in 2015 if they should lose to a .500 at best Nebraska team that got run just a few weeks ago by PURDUE we would then formally welcome Kirk Ferentz back to the Hot Seat because Hell if you play NO ONE and lose ONE game your ass should be on the Hot Seat!

Let’s Recap:

Mike Riley and Nebraska lose to Iowa = Complete Freaking Disaster!

Kirk Ferentz and Iowa lose to Nebraska – Kirk Ferentz’s ass is back on the Hot Seat!

11.  Dana Holgorsen, West Virginia vs. Iowa State – We CANNOT imagine Dana Holgorsen and West Virginia losing at home to an Iowa State team that has already fired its head coach BUT we have been told by someone we trust in the “college football coaching business” that IF West Virginia loses its last TWO games to Iowa State and Kansas State…

Dana Holgorsen is DONE at West Virginia….PERIOD

Memo to Crazy Boy Dana Holgorsen:  Don’t lose to Iowa State and Kansas State son!

Coaches Hot Seat Quotes of the Day – Friday, November 27, 2015 – Vince Lombardi

“There’s only one way to succeed in anything, and that is to give it everything. I do, and I demand that my players do.”

“If you aren’t fired with enthusiasm, you’ll be fired with enthusiasm.”

“Mental toughness is essential to success.”

“You never win a game unless you beat the guy in front of you. The score on the board doesn’t mean a thing. That’s for the fans. You’ve got to win the war with the man in front of you. You’ve got to get your man.”

“To achieve success, whatever the job we have, we must pay a price.”

“Success is like anything worthwhile. It has a price. You have to pay the price to win and you have to pay the price to get to the point where success is possible. Most important, you must pay the price to stay there.”

“Football is a great deal like life in that it teaches that work, sacrifice, perseverance, competitive drive, selflessness and respect for authority is the price each and every one of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile.”

“Once you agree upon the price you and your family must pay for success, it enables you to ignore the minor hurts, the opponent’s pressure, and the temporary failures.”

“Confidence is contagious and so is lack of confidence, and a customer will recognize both.”

“If you believe in yourself and have the courage, the determination, the dedication, the competitive drive and if you are willing to sacrifice the little things in life and pay the price for the things that are worthwhile, it can be done.”

“Unless a man believes in himself and makes a total commitment to his career and puts everything he has into it-his mind, his body and his heart-what is life worth to him? If I were a salesman, I would make this commitment to my company, to the product and most of all, to myself.”

“The quality of a person’s life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor.”

“Once a man has made a commitment to a way of life, he puts the greatest strength in the world behind him. It’s something we call heart power. Once a man has made this commitment, nothing will stop him short of success.”

“Unless a man believes in himself and makes a total commitment to his career and puts everything he has into it-his mind, his body, his heart-what’s life worth to him.

“It is essential to understand that battles are primarily won in the hearts of men.”

“In great attempts, it is glorious even to fail.”

“They may not love you at the time, but they will later.”

” Leadership rests not only upon ability, not only upon capacity; having the capacity to lead is not enough. The leader must be willing to use it. His leadership is then based on truth and character. There must be truth in the purpose and will power in the character.”

“Leadership is based on a spiritual quality; the power to inspire, the power to inspire others to follow.”

“Having the capacity to lead is not enough. The leader must be willing to use it.”

“A leader must identify himself with the group, must back up the group, even at the risk of displeasing superiors. He must believe that the group wants from him a sense of approval. If this feeling prevails, production, discipline, morale will be high, and in return, you can demand the cooperation to promote the goals of the company.”

“Leaders are made, they are not born. They are made by hard effort, which is the price which all of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile.”

“They call it coaching but it is teaching. You do not just tell them…you show them the reasons.”

“The harder you work, the harder it is to surrender.”

“The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will.”

“The spirit, the will to win and the will to excel-these are the things that endure and these are the qualities that are so much more important than any of the events that occasion them.”

“It is essential to understand that battles are primarily won in the hearts of men. Men respond to leadership in a most remarkable way and once you have won his heart, he will follow you anywhere.”

“A man can be as great as he wants to be. If you believe in yourself and have the courage, the determination, the dedication, the competitive drive and if you are willing to sacrifice the little things in life and pay the price for the things that are worthwhile, it can be done.”

“If you’ll not settle for anything less than your best, you will be amazed at what you can accomplish in your lives.

“It’s not whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you get up.”

“I’ve never known a man worth his salt who in the long run, deep down in his heart, didn’t appreciate the grind, the discipline. There is something good in men that really yearns for discipline.”

“The good Lord gave you a body that can stand most anything. It’s your mind you have to convince.”

“Mental toughness is many things and rather difficult to explain. Its qualities are sacrifice and self-denial. Also, most importantly, it is combined with a perfectly disciplined will that refuses to give in. It’s a state of mind-you could call it character in action.”

“Once you learn to quit, it becomes a habit.”

“Individual commitment to a group effort-that is what makes a team work, a company work, a society work, a civilization work.”

“Teams do not go physically flat, they go mentally stale.”

“Teamwork is what the Green Bay Packers were all about. They didn’t do it for individual glory. They did it because they loved one another.”

“People who work together will win, whether it be against complex football defenses, or the problems of modern society.”

“The achievements of an organization are the results of the combined effort of each individual.”

“Success demands singleness of purpose.”

“Some of us will do our jobs well and some will not, but we will be judged by only one thing-the result.”

“Winning is not a sometime thing: it’s an all the time thing. You don’t win once in a while; you don’t do the right thing once in a while; you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately, so is losing.”

“Winning is not everything–but making effort to win is.”

“It’s easy to have faith in yourself and have discipline when you’re a winner, when you’re number one. What you’ve got to have is faith and discipline when you’re not yet a winner.”

“I firmly believe that any man’s finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is the moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle-victorious.”

Coaches Hot Seat Quotes of the Day – Thursday, November 26, 2015 – Thanksgiving Day

“The Pilgrims made seven times more graves than huts. No Americans have been more impoverished than these who, nevertheless, set aside a day of thanksgiving.”  H.U. Westermayer

“If the only prayer you said in your whole life was, “thank you,” that would suffice.”  Meister Eckhart

“Thanksgiving Day is a jewel, to set in the hearts of honest men; but be careful that you do not take the day, and leave out the gratitude.”  E.P. Powell

“So once in every year we throng
Upon a day apart,
To praise the Lord with feast and song
In thankfulness of heart.”
Arthur Guiterman, The First Thanksgiving

“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”  John Fitzgerald Kennedy

“Remember God’s bounty in the year. String the pearls of His favor. Hide the dark parts, except so far as they are breaking out in light! Give this one day to thanks, to joy, to gratitude!”  Henry Ward Beecher

“Thanksgiving Day comes, by statute, once a year; to the honest man it comes as frequently as the heart of gratitude will allow.”  Edward Sandford Martin

“Our rural ancestors, with little blest,
Patient of labour when the end was rest,
Indulged the day that housed their annual grain,
With feasts, and off’rings, and a thankful strain.”

Thanks but in part;
The full, the true Thanksgiving
Comes from the heart.”

“For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food, for love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Thanksgiving dinners take eighteen hours to prepare. They are consumed in twelve minutes. Half-times take twelve minutes. This is not coincidence.”   Erma Bombeck

“On Thanksgiving Day we acknowledge our dependence.”  William Jennings Bryan

“Nothing is more honorable than a grateful heart.”   Seneca

“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.”  William Arthur Ward

“Thanksgiving is so called because we are all so thankful that it only comes once a year.”  P. J. O’Rourke

“Thanksgiving Day, a function which originated in New England two or three centuries ago when those people recognized that they really had something to be thankful for – annually, not oftener – if they had succeeded in exterminating their neighbors, the Indians, during the previous twelve months instead of getting exterminated by their neighbors, the Indians. Thanksgiving Day became a habit, for the reason that in the course of time, as the years drifted on, it was perceived that the exterminating had ceased to be mutual and was all on the white man’s side, consequently on the Lord’s side; hence it was proper to thank the Lord for it and extend the usual annual compliments.”  Mark Twain

“We can always find something to be thankful for, and there may be reasons why we ought to be thankful for even those dispensations which appear dark and frowning.”  Albert Barnes

“Thanksgiving is nothing if not a glad and reverent lifting of the heart to God in honor and praise for His goodness.” Robert Casper Lintner

The Desolate Wilderness, Editorial, Wall Street Journal

“Here beginneth the chronicle of those memorable circumstances of the year 1620, as recorded by Nathaniel Morton , keeper of the records of Plymouth Colony, based on the account of William Bradford , sometime governor thereof:

So they left that goodly and pleasant city of Leyden, which had been their resting-place for above eleven years, but they knew that they were pilgrims and strangers here below, and looked not much on these things, but lifted up their eyes to Heaven, their dearest country, where God hath prepared for them a city (Heb. XI, 16), and therein quieted their spirits.

When they came to Delfs-Haven they found the ship and all things ready, and such of their friends as could not come with them followed after them, and sundry came from Amsterdam to see them shipt, and to take their leaves of them. One night was spent with little sleep with the most, but with friendly entertainment and Christian discourse, and other real expressions of true Christian love.

he next day they went on board, and their friends with them, where truly doleful was the sight of that sad and mournful parting, to hear what sighs and sobs and prayers did sound amongst them; what tears did gush from every eye, and pithy speeches pierced each other’s heart, that sundry of the Dutch strangers that stood on the Key as spectators could not refrain from tears. But the tide (which stays for no man) calling them away, that were thus loath to depart, their Reverend Pastor, falling down on his knees, and they all with him, with watery cheeks commended them with the most fervent prayers unto the Lord and His blessing; and then with mutual embraces and many tears they took their leaves one of another, which proved to be the last leave to many of them.

Being now passed the vast ocean….”

And the Fair Land, Editorial, Wall Street Journal

“Anyone whose labors take him into the far reaches of the country, as ours lately have done, is bound to mark how the years have made the land grow fruitful.

This is indeed a big country, a rich country, in a way no array of figures can measure and so in a way past belief of those who have not seen it. Even those who journey through its Northeastern complex, into the Southern lands, across the central plains and to its Western slopes can only glimpse a measure of the bounty of America.

And a traveler cannot but be struck on his journey by the thought that this country, one day, can be even greater. America, though many know it not, is one of the great underdeveloped countries of the world; what it reaches for exceeds by far what it has grasped.

So the visitor returns thankful for much of what he has seen, and, in spite of everything, an optimist about what his country might be. Yet the visitor, if he is to make an honest report, must also note the air of unease that hangs everywhere.

For the traveler, as travelers have been always…..”

…who knows what kind of effect that would have on a person BUT there is no doubt in our minds that….

The Fresno State football team was coached and played a Helluva lot harder in 2012 and 2013 seasons than they have in the last two seasons

….and the performance on the field proves that FACT and we cannot help but wonder if Tim DeRuyter can turn things around at Fresno State when it looks like to us the fire to win has gone almost completely out of the man…in our humble opinion of course.

Let’s make a note in the spot in Tim DeRuyter’s 51 st game as the head coach at Fresno State last Saturday against BYU his team got beat…

52 – 10

…and if that FACT doesn’t scare the Hell out of the fans of Fresno State football when thinking about the future then nothing will.

The 3 – 8 Fresno State football team has only a home game left against Colorado State this coming Saturday and it will be very interesting to see if CSU with a first year head coach in Mike Bobo can come into Fresno and beat a head coach in Tim DeRuyter who is completing his FOURTH year on the job….very Damn interesting to see.

22.  Gary Andersen, Oregon State – Things went from bad to worse for Gary Andersen and his Oregon State football team on Saturday with the Beavers giving up over 50 points for the second straight game….this time to Washington….and now only the Civil War game remains in Eugene against the Oregon Ducks which no doubt will be another 50-plus point game for the OSU defense and also no doubt a final regular season record for the Beavers of….

2 – 10

… 2015 which only includes wins over Weber State and San Jose State and of course NO wins in Pac-12 play.

After seeing Gary Andersen on TV a couple of times in recent weeks it looks like to us the MONUMENTAL task he now faces to turn around the Oregon State football program has finally sunk in and how very much TOUGHER of a job OSU is compared to Wisconsin with the Pac-12 North division being incredibly hard place to operate and improve in because the other teams in the division are already playing at a very high-level and improving themselves on a regular basis now.

Further complicating matters in our opinion is that Gary Andersen is not exactly the best coach….meaning the right personality…to handle the MONUMENTAL re-building job he now faces at Oregon State because there is the very real chance OSU does not win another Pac-12 Conference game in 2016 and the reality is if OSU goes 2 – 10 again next season there is the very REAL chance it is..

Two-And-Done for Gary Andersen at Oregon State

….especially if Andersen doesn’t have a Helluva good attitude about the coming very dark days that are going to test every core of his being and every coaching skill he has ever learned.

Yes…Mike Riley left a Complete Freaking Disaster behind at Oregon State that was a football program used to winning 5 to 7 games a year in one of the easiest-going programs in college football and Gary Andersen is the exact opposite of Mike Riley in almost every way and that reality is a toxic brew that is going to make it very Damn hard for Gary Andersen to get any REAL traction with his style of coaching barring a massive turnover of the OSU roster which will take several years to happen and we

Just Don’t Know if Gary Andersen has several years to get things right at Oregon State

There’s only one way out for Gary Andersen at Oregon State and that is….

….and it will be interesting to see if Andersen realizes that what he is doing now is wrong for the situation he finds himself in and if he alters course to try and save his job or if he plows ahead and it remains “his way or the highway” which will work at a place like Alabama where Bozo the Clown can win 8 games a year but for Damn sure is a risky as Hell strategy at a place like Oregon State.

23.  Kevin Sumlin, Texas A&M – The folks at LSU are fed-up with LSU losing games to Alabama and also to other schools in the SEC that the Tigers have MORE talent than so the die is now cast at LSU with Les Miles headed out the door after Saturday’s game against Texas A&M with a Helluva lot of money being owed to him after doing almost NOTHING the past three seasons in SEC play relative to the amount of talent on the LSU roster and if ALL of the above sounds familiar then you must know the same Damn thing could be said about…

Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin

….who himself is sitting on a Very Damn Mediocre record in SEC play the last THREE seasons of….

11 – 12

….which is actually WORSE than the coach he will oppose in Baton Rouge on Saturday night!

People that laugh and say that Les Miles shouldn’t be on the Hot Seat even though he has on the board…

3 – 7 record against Alabama in the his last 10 games

13 – 10 record in SEC play the last 3 seasons

….should also be paying attention to what is going on with Kevin Sumlin at Texas A&M because a loss on Saturday to a lame-duck coach in Les Miles whose football team has basically QUIT on Miles after being ranked No. 2 in the country just a few weeks back would be a Helluva bad look and would leave Sumlin’s last THREE years record in SEC play at…

11 – 13

…and please when you have EVERYTHING as Kevin Sumlin does at Texas A&M and you are making over $5 Million Dollars a year how in the Hell do you explain having a…

Sub .500 record in SEC play?

You CANNOT explain it is the answer to that question and we would recommend to Kevin Sumlin the following:

Son…if you get another job offer in the next couple of weeks that will pay you $5 plus million dollars a year you better Damn take it because we have gotten the word son and the word is…

“If the Aggies don’t win the SEC West in 2016 Sumlin is DONE at A&M.”

Oh…the “word” above…that comes from someone that could buy half of Houston in the morning and still have a Helluva lot of money in the bank in the afternoon!

Memo to Kevin Sumlin:  Don’t lose to Les Miles and LSU in this spot son….just a friendly suggestion!

24.  Bret Bielema, Arkansas – We are not quite sure what Arkansas AD Jeff Long had in mind when he hired Bret Bielema away from Wisconsin after the entire Bobby Petrino – John L. Smith Rolling Disaster of 2012 BUT we have to imagine that Jeff Long didn’t think that with one game left in Bielema’s THIRD season coaching the Razorbacks that the Chubby Man would be sitting on records of…

Overall: 16 – 20

SEC: 6 – 17

…and if Jeff Long did think the above records is what Bielema would have posted with one game left in his THIRD season on the job then it’s clear…

Jeff Long should be fired as the Arkansas AD this morning!

Just for comparison to the Chubby Man….Bobby Petrino posted the below records after THREE years on the job at Arkansas….

Overall: 23 – 15

SEC: 11 – 13

….and followed that up with a 11 – 2 record in 2011 and had one of the hottest teams in college football heading into the 2012 season when he took his motorcycle spill with the hot blonde and launched the Rolling Disaster that led to the Chubby Man being hired in Fayetteville.

To us it looks like the Missouri football team is spent after the on-campus stuff and Gary Pinkel’s retirement so we don’t know how much of a game that Mizzou can give Arkansas on Saturday BUT if the Tigers should happen to roll into Fayetteville and beat the Chubby Man and his Arkansas football team then Bret Bielema will find his ass on the Hot Seat for ANOTHER entire off-season and that’s no Damn fun so our recommendation…

Beat Missouri Chubby Man

…or it will be Hot Seat for you and that is a Helluva BIG Hot Seat for sure!

25.  Trent Miles, Georgia State – Georgia State got another nice win on Saturday over South Alabama to raise their record to 4 – 6 on the season with only games left against….

At Georgia Southern

….and MAYBE if Trent Miles can find ONE more win this season he can hang onto his job at Georgia State which includes Miles’ below records after THREE years on the job:

Overall: 5 – 29

Sun Belt: 3 – 18

Well…MAYBE NOT….but whatever happens at least Georgia State is playing a little better football now and let’s hope the Panthers can finish strong starting with a win over Troy on Saturday.

26.  Chuck Martin, Miami (Ohio) – Chuck Martin and his Miami (Ohio) football team got another win on Saturday against UMass which is…

3 Wins on the Year

…..and leaves Chuck Martin’s records in TWO years on the job coaching the Redhawks at….

Overall: 5 – 19

MAC: 4 – 12

….which is good if you think….

1.67 Wins a Year

…is good which means it looks like Chuck Martin will find his ass on the Hot Seat for the foreseeable future until he starts WINNING some more football games!

27.  Ron Caragher, San Jose State – Ron Caragher and his San Jose State football team got their MUST WIN on Saturday over Hawaii which raises the Spartans record in 2015 to…

5 – 6

….and now ALL that SJSU has to do is beat Boise State on Saturday to get to SIX wins on the season and judging by the way that the Broncos have played in recent weeks that is NOT out of the realm of possibility and we here at Coaches Hot Seat who have LOTS of personal and family ties to San Jose State University wish….

Ron Caragher and San Jose State GREAT LUCK against Boise State

….and why don’t you just go ahead Ron and….

Beat Those Bastards from Boise?

28.  Doug Martin, New Mexico State – New Mexico State got their THIRD straight win on Saturday over La. Lafayette to raise the Aggies record to…

3 – 7

…on the season and with another against Arkansas State on Saturday at home in Las Cruces Doug Martin will get his long-suffering ass off the Hot Seat!

Give ‘em Hell Doug Martin!

29.  David Beaty, Kansas – We HATE, HATE, HATE putting first-year head coaches on the Hot Seat unless they are coaching at a school where a new head coach should come out of the box winning lots of games BUT with Kansas now sitting on a record of….

0 – 11

…and looking about as woeful as any team we have seen play in 2015 we would like to welcome…

Kansas Head Coach David Beatty to the Hot Seat!

Call us CRAZY but we really didn’t know what to make of the David Beaty hire at Kansas last year especially in the wake of the….

Complete Freaking Disaster Hire of Charlie Weis at Kansas

….so we looked at David Beaty’s background in the college and high school coaching ranks and thought something like….

“Hell….who knows what this kid will do.”

…but one does have to wonder with the success at Tom Herman at Houston if a smarter move would have been for Kansas to hire a proven offensive or defensive coordinator or maybe even to hire one of the former head coaches that were then out-of-work… a Houston Nutt, Rick Neuheisel, Butch Davis….or someone similar who has a track-record at least and is NOT…

A Pompous Arrogant Ass Know-It-All like Charlie Weis!

Whatever we or someone else might have done as the AD of Kansas last year it’s really a moot point now and the only thing that matters is CAN David Beaty get things turned around at KU and to that point we took the time to watch Kansas play a couple of times this season and our impression of Beaty’s Jayhawks….

Not Much

….which really says it all and IF Kansas keeps playing like they are right now into 2016 they will probably not win a game next season as well which is a Helluva spot for the Kansas football program to be in right now….

Not Very Damn Good and Nothing To Look Forward To on the Horizon

30.  Kliff Kingsbury, Texas Tech – With a couple of coaches getting fired Kliff Kingsbury of Texas Tech is back on the Hot Seat with his football team sitting on a record of….

6 – 5

….and needing a win over Texas on Thanksgiving Day to really make the 2015 season more than just…

…..and a loss in this spot to drop the Red Raiders record down to 6 – 6 and 3 – 6 in the Big 12 play would be a very bad thing indeed and would lead to Kliff Kingsbury spending ANOTHER offeason on the Hot Seat and we know that is…

Not Very Much Damn Fun

…..and yet another reason for Kingsbury to get a win in this spot is his overall record in THREE seasons at Tech which sits at…

18 – 18

…because what coach in his right mind wants to be on the wrong side of the College Football Mendoza-Line of .500 football after THREE years on the job?

No Coach is the answer to that question!

Good Luck against Texas Kliff and if you beat the ‘Horns = Off the Hot Seat until 2016 season at least!

Coaches Hot Seat Quotes of the Day – Wednesday, November 25, 2015 – Bo Schembechler

Go Get A Win Over Ohio State Jimmy!

“When your team is winning, be ready to be tough, because winning can make you soft. On the other hand, when your team is losing, stick by them. Keep believing.”

“Those who stay will be champions”

“If I make a mistake, I’m going to make a mistake aggressively and I’m going to make it quickly. I don’t believe in sleeping on a decision.”

“A Michigan man will coach Michigan.”

“We want the Big 10 championship. And we’re going to win it as a TEAM. They can throw out all those great backs and great quarterbacks and great defensive players throughout the country and in this conference. But there’s going to be one team that is going play solely as a team. No man is more important than the team. No coach is more important than the team. THE TEAM! THE TEAM! THE TEAM! And if we think that way, all of us, everything that you do you take into consideration what effect does it have on my team? Because you can go into professional football, you can go anywhere you want to play after you leave here, you will never play for a team again. You’ll play for a contract. You’ll play for this. You’ll play for that. You’ll play for everything except the team. And think what a great thing it is to be a part of something that is THE TEAM! We’re going to win it. We’re going to win the championship again because we’re going to play as a team better than anyone else in the conference. We’re going to play together as a TEAM. We’re going to believe in each other. We’re not going to criticize each other. We’re not going to talk about each other. We’re going to encourage each other! And when we play as a team, when the old season is over, you and I know it’s going to be Michigan again. Michigan!”

Book Review: Bo’s Lasting Lessons, Three Star Leadership Blog – ( Bo’s Lasting Lessons)

“Successful sports coaches seem to think that it’s part of their game plan to write books. After all, they’re celebrities of a sort and they know something about “winning” which is a popular topic with readers of all kinds.

Bo Schembechler is one of the most successful coaches in the history of college football. He coached Michigan football for twenty years, compiling a record of 234-65-8. During that time his teams won or tied for the Big Ten championship 13 times. He never had a losing season.

That’s why it’s somewhat amazing that it took so long for Bo’s Lasting Lessons to appear. But Bo Schembechler always did things his own way.

There are three big lessons in this book: values matter, keep the rules simple, and enforce them no matter what.

Values mattered for Schembechler. Honesty was the big one. He was going to be honest no matter what and he expected the same from his coaches, his players, and everyone else. The idea was simple: always do the right thing.

He kept the rules simple. He also made sure everyone who worked for him understood the rules. They included how players were to sit in team meetings and how they were expected to dress on road trips.

He enforced the rules he had. If anyone broke Bo’s rules there were consequences. And those consequences were as inevitable as nature.

Those are the big lessons, but there are lots of lessons and bits of wisdom scattered through the book. Here are some of my favorites.

If you’re the boss you have to accept the fact that you’re the bad cop and your assistants will be the good cops.

Don’t hire smart people and then not listen to their opinions.

Seek mentors, not money, especially in the early stages of your career.

Whatever your philosophy, whatever your standards, whatever your expectations, you establish those on day one. Don’t waste a second!

Recruit for character.

Develop leaders underneath you.

Goals can’t come from the top down. They’ve got to come from the people responsible for achieving them. Your job is to help them get there, and remind them every day what their goals are, and what they have to do to make their dreams come true.

Scuttle the star system. Give everyone a role and make it important.

Emphasize execution, not innovation.

There are lots more but you can find them for yourself when you read the book. I’ve got lots of things underlined, and Post-It notes dangle off lots of pages.

There are some things to watch for. First off, some of Bo’s recommendations don’t translate well to any environment other than an athletic team. Be prepared to modify them to suit.

And some things that Bo did back in the Sixties and Seventies aren’t things you can do today. Some of that involves privacy laws. Some of that is the way the world has changed. Be prepared to adapt that material, too.

Over the years, I’ve read lots of books by athletic coaches about how to achieve personal and business success. I’m almost always disappointed, but not this time.

This is an enjoyable and helpful book, in part because co-author John Bacon lets us see what I’m sure is the authentic Bo Schembechler. And Bo was a wise man and clear speaker.”

Les Miles and His “Home” in Baton Rouge – Post Week 12 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings – 11 – 20 Hot Seat Head Coaches – It’s Thanksgiving Week Johnny Cash….So Why Don’t You Take It Easy On These Hot Seat Coaches in the Spirit of the Holiday? On Second Thought…Give These Millionaire Hot Seat Coaches Hell Mr. Cash and Everyone Have A Great Thanksgiving!

Les Miles and His “Home” in Baton Rouge

Before we get to the Post Week 12 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings – 11 – 20 Hot Seat Head Coaches Analysis let us say a few words about the Les Miles situation at LSU.

As BIG fans of Bo Schembechler here at Coaches Hot Seat we have always been BIG fans of Les Miles during his head coaching stops at Oklahoma State and LSU and there is probably an argument to keep Les Miles on at LSU right now…BUT…that is NOT an argument that anyone here at Coaches Hot Seat would be making because we recognize the FACT that if David Shaw or ANY Stanford head football coach was sitting on records of…

3 – 7 against California in the last 10 Big Games

13 – 10 record in Pac-12 play over the last 3 seasons

….right now below is what it would like outside the Stanford Athletics Complex would look like with Coaches Hot Seat members out-front and leading the charge!

Sorry…there is NO head coach at a school like LSU or ANY school in FBS for that matter that is serious about their football and for Damn sure folks at LSU are serious about their football that can post records of…

3 – 7 against LSU’s main rival = Alabama

13 – 10 in SEC play over the last 3 seasons

….and expect to hang onto his job unless of course you are a First-Class Ass Kisser of the media which Les Miles is in spades and thus why Media Flunkies from across America have come-a-running to save Les Miles from his destiny which is right now…

To No Longer Be The Head Coach at LSU

As for the Les Miles calling Baton Rouge “home” in his press conference on Monday which tugged at the heartstrings of the media which will fall for almost any Bullshit you drop on them these days…

Quite a ‘heartrending’ moment Monday when Les Miles called Baton Rouge ‘home’, Scott Rabalais, The Advocate

…we have some Breaking News for Les Miles and the Flunky Media from the REAL World:

Hell, lots of Americans that are making $40,000 a year which we remind Les Miles and the Flunky Media is about…

10% of what Les Miles makes in a MONTH or around $400,000

….that would LOVE to be working near their “home” right now or in a place where they would really LOVE to be living but unfortunately Tens of Millions of Americans are busting their asses everyday including 1 Million Plus members of the US Military that Les Miles wouldn’t know a Damn thing about making a tiny fraction of what Miles is making who we may add has made…

Around $30 Million Dollars over the last 11 seasons coaching at LSU

….and yet it’s clear to us Les Miles has NOT EARNED the enormous amount of money he has been paid by going…

3 – 7 against Alabama in his last 10 games

13 – 10 SEC record the last 3 seasons

…..nor that Les Miles should be given a pass just because….”Baton Rouge is home!”

Sorry….the members of Coaches Hot Seat that served in the US Military, worked at the White House, on Capitol Hill, in Manhattan and in dozens of other major US cities across America can see Bullshit from a mile away and Les Miles son…

You Are Full of Bullshit

You are an AVERAGE coach at best now

…because the game of football has passed you by and you don’t even know it…PERIOD.

The MOST telling thing to us in the last few weeks relative to Les Miles LSU football team was the way they played against Ole Miss this past Saturday after it was reported that Miles job was on the line and when we fully expected the LSU players to come out and play…

Motivated and Focused

…but instead they came out and played…

Hardly Damn Motivated and Not Focused At All

….which says EVERYTHING one needs to know about the current state of LSU football and why CHANGE is badly needed in Baton Rouge because the last time we checked….

Being the head coach at LSU is something that has to be EARNED and Les Miles hasn’t EARNED a Damn penny of his $5 Million Dollar annual salary in several YEARS now in our humble opinion and who the Hell wouldn’t want to stay in a place where folks will toss you $5 Million Dollars to be…

Nothing More Than AVERAGE?

Where the Hell do we sign-up please!

Oh….by the way for anyone that is paying attention….in the 10 seasons that Michigan head coach Bo Schembechler faced off against his former head coach and mentor Ohio State head coach Woody Hayes between 1969 and 1978 Bo Schembechler posted a record of…

5 – 4 – 1

….in those 10 meetings against Woody and what is Les Miles record against Alabama and Nick Saban?

3 – 7

In a court of law that would be what’s called….CASE CLOSED on why Les Miles is on his way out at LSU.

Post Week 12 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings

11.  Paul Johnson, Georgia Tech – When Paul Johnson was first hired at Georgia Tech in 2008 we had a pretty high opinion of Johnson having watched his teams play many times when he was the head coach at Navy and we fully expected the Yellow Jackets to a competitive team in the ACC on an annual basis under Johnson BUT as of 2015 in EIGHT seasons on the job Paul Johnson has won more than 7 games in just…

4 of 8 seasons at Georgia Tech

….and has won more than 7 games in just…

2 of the last 6 seasons at Georgia Tech

….and needless to say 2015 has been a Complete Freaking Disaster with Tech now at…

3 – 8 overall

1 – 7 in ACC play

Something else that we have picked-up on in the last couple of years since there are a large number of Coaches Hot Seat members living in the Atlanta, Georgia area now is that Paul Johnson isn’t exactly the most beloved man in and around the Georgia Tech football program and athletics department based upon what we have been told and last year three Coaches Hot Seat members were playing golf with a Georgia Tech-alum who was your typical….

Rambling Wreck Engineer

….who said when asked about Paul Johnson….

“To Hell with Paul Johnson”

….which he did not elaborate on except to say he didn’t know ANY Georgia Tech alums that gave “two-rips for that Bastard” which are pretty strong words from where we come from!

So what does the future hold for Paul Johnson at Georgia Tech who has posted the following records in EIGHT seasons on the job in Atlanta…

Overall:  61 – 43

ACC:  38 – 26

…..with still the Georgia Bulldogs to play this season?

We don’t have a clue BUT we are Very Damn Happy that Paul Johnson is not the head coach at Stanford!

Can Georgia Tech Georgia in Atlanta on Saturday?

Not if they play like the bunch of QUITTERS that showed up to play Miami last week!

12.  Craig Bohl, Wyoming – Wyoming had a BYE in Week 12 and gets back at things in Week 13 with a home game against UNLV and Cowboys head coach Craig Bohl REALLY needs to beat the Running Rebels this week to get something out of this Complete Freaking Disaster of a season which has Wyoming now at…

1 – 10 overall

1 – 6 in MWC play

….and Craig Bohl with records in TWO seasons of the school of:

Overall:  5 – 18

MWC:  3 – 12

Just imagine if Craig Bohl was still at North Dakota State right now riding high with FOUR about to be FIVE straight FCS National Championships and who would have his pick of several jobs in Power 5 Conferences BUT instead….

Craig Bohl took the Wyoming job and is now stuck in Laramie with only ONE way out…

We still think a lot of Craig Bohl’s ability to build and lead a college football program and if we were a sitting athletic director we would take a hard look at Bohl if we were at a place like Iowa State, Syracuse, or Illinois because we do know that Craig Bohl is a very good football coach and that at the right place he will win BIG again IF he can ever get out of Wyoming.

13.  Mark Stoops, Kentucky – Talk about a big poker hand the game that Mark Stoops is about to play against Louisville on Saturday is HUGE for the future of both Mark Stoops and the Kentucky football program because with a win over Louisville that will mean a 6 – 6 record and a trip to a bowl game and then Mark Stoops can rightfully and honestly say that…

The Kentucky Football Program is Getting Better

….but with a loss in this game Mark Stoops overall record in THREE seasons at Kentucky will stand at…

12 – 24

…..and the last Kentucky head football coach, Joker Phillips, was fired after THREE seasons on the job with an overall record of…

13 – 24

…..which would mean in our opinion at least that…

Kentucky Football has gone NOWHERE under Mark Stoops

…and that is not exactly the easiest thing in the world to sell to folks whether they be recruits, fans, alums, boosters or anyone that knows ANYTHING about college football for that matter!

Oh also this…Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino has his team now at 6 – 5 on the season and the Cardinals badly need a win in this spot as well because a 6 – 6 record will land Bobby Petrino right back on the Hot Seat heading into the offseason and we are quite Damn confident that’s not something Petrino wants to deal with over the next 9 months!

Good Luck Boys and Coach Hard….There’s A Helluva Lot at Stake After All!

14.  Curtis Johnson, Tulane – After getting whipped by SMU on Saturday Curtis Johnson’s records in FOUR seasons as the head coach at Tulane now stand at…

Overall:  15 – 33

Conference:  11 – 21

…which includes ONE .500 or better season and ONE bowl game trip and we rather doubt that will be good enough for Johnson to get a FIFTH season at Tulane which is about to hire a new athletic director who will have no connections to Johnson and we all know how those situations workout with a new AD usually wanting his or her own head football coach in place going forward.

Like Les Miles at LSU, all signs point to a change for Curtis Johnson and Tulane, Ted Lewis, New Orleans Advocate

In our opinion here at Coaches Hot Seat the Tulane job is a VERY attractive job sitting in one of America’s great cities and with TONS of high school football talent within a four hour drive of the school AND with a new on-on-campus football stadium…..Yulman Stadium

We can think of a Helluva lot of Very Damn Good Football Coaches that would LOVE to get a shot at coaching the Tulane Green Wave and it will be interesting to see who Tulane goes after and eventually hires if they do fire Curtis Johnson.

15.  Mike Riley, Nebraska – There are a only a few things that REALLY get our ire up here at Coaches Hot Seat and for those slow on the uptake “ire” is defined by Merriam-Webster as….

Ire: intense and usually openly displayed anger”

…and some of those few things are….

Rich and/or Privileged Bastards Treating People Badly

Millionaire Football Coaches Crying like Babies

People That Get Jobs They Had No Damn Business Getting

….and by any measure we can think of Mike Riley did NOTHING in his head coaching career at Oregon State or San Diego Chargers to EARN the Nebraska head coaching job besides….

Having A Complete Buffoon as an Athletic Director at Nebraska that Doesn’t Know His Ass From the Side of A Barn

…and any review of Mike Riley’s win/loss records with the Beavers and Chargers proves that FACT:

Oregon State:  93 – 80

San Diego Chargers :  14 – 34

With the above being said Mike Riley landed at place in Nebraska where….

Bozo the Clown could average SEVEN wins a season easy

….and where ANY AVERAGE football coach could…

Win EIGHT games a season easy

….and a ANY GOOD football coach could…

WIN NINE games a season easy

….which brings us to Mike Riley who we would place in between an…

Average and Good Football Coach

….so if that opinion holds to form when Mike Riley is finished at Nebraska he will have averaged winning….

8.5 Wins A Year

….which is a place that even counting the FOUR disastrous years of Bill Callahan and from Bob Devaney and Tom Osborne’s coaching tenures when college football teams rarely played over 12 games a year Nebraska has over the past 50-plus years averaged winning…

9.58 Wins A Season

….which if recalculated statistically to account for the additional 2-plus games teams have the opportunity to play in today’s college football is…

10.75 Wins A Season

….is there anyone on Planet Earth that believes Mike Riley will average…

10.75 Wins A Season at Nebraska?

Well there has to be at least….

A Complete Buffoon as an Athletic Director at Nebraska that Doesn’t Know His Ass From the Side of A Barn

…who thinks so or he wouldn’t have hired Mike Riley who averaged winning…

6.64 Wins A Season at Oregon State!

Now at 5 – 6 on the season Nebraska only has left a home game against undefeated Iowa and checking the Vegas Boys….

The Hawkeyes are a 2 point favorite in Lincoln

….which means the Vegas Boys see this as an EVEN game which makes since because….

Nebraska has MUCH more talent on its roster than Iowa

….and by all rights SHOULD win this football game which means a loss in this spot would be…

Complete Freaking Disaster for Mike Riley and Nebraska Football

…and a loss by Iowa would be…

Complete Freaking Disaster for Kirk Ferentz and Iowa Football!

Should be a GREAT game in Lincoln, Nebraska on Saturday!

16.  Mark Richt, Georgia – At a dinner last week in San Francisco with many Coaches Hot Seat members in town for the Big Game between Cal and Stanford one Coaches Hot Seat member had an interesting thought on why so many Georgia fans are committed to keeping Mark Richt as the head coach at Georgia even though by ANY measure we can think of has been…

….relative to what a Powerhouse Football Program that Georgia can and should be and that thought as postulated by the Coaches Hot Seat member who lives in the Atlanta area was:

Coaches Hot Seat Member #1: “It’s Stockholm Syndrome…plain and simple.”

Coaches Hot Seat Member #2: “Stockholm syndrome? For Mark Richt and Georgia fans….come on….how did you come up with that?”

Coaches Hot Seat Member #1 (picks-up phone, searches, reads definition of Stockholm Syndrome): “Stockholm syndrome, or capture-bonding, is a psychological phenomenon in which hostages express empathy and sympathy and have positive feelings toward their captors, sometimes to the point of defending and identifying with the captors.”

Coaches Hot Seat Member #4: “You may have something there…like that Idiot Darryl from Columbus that calls into the Finebaum Show. He shows many classic symptoms of Stockholm Syndrome and Hell there was that guy I ran into at the bar in Original El Taco in Virginia-Highlands who was a BIG Georgia fan and was about as Damn Stockholm Syndrome as one could be towards Mark Richt.

Coaches Hot Seat Member #1: “See….Mark Richt has the Georgia fans captive and he can lose to pitiful Florida team after pitiful Florida team and hang onto his job….Stockholm Syndrome plain and simple.”

Coaches Hot Seat Member #2: “You may be right….but I just think Georgia fans have gotten comfortable with being AVERAGE and if Mark Richt keeps going to church and drops into a diner every once in awhile to eat breakfast he could probably stay at Georgia for as long as he wants without EVER winning another SEC title.”

Whether the Georgia fans have Stockholm Syndrome relative to Mark Richt or not a place like the state of Georgia where there are Hundreds of High School Football Players each year that can play on the FBS level we see no Damn reason at all why….

Mark Richt has NOT won an SEC Title since the 2005 season

….which might not be able to be explained by Stockholm Syndrome for the reason that Mark Richt is still the head coach of the Bulldogs but for Damn sure…

Georgia Football is AVERAGE and we don’t see that changing anytime soon!

Certainly Paul Johnson and his ragtag and of QUITTERS are not MAN ENOUGH to beat Georgia on Saturday which makes the two main FBS programs in the state of Georgia…

AVERAGE = Georgia

QUITTERS = Georgia Tech

17.  Paul Petrino, Idaho – It was not surprising that Idaho got whipped at Auburn on Saturday by the score of 56 – 34 which leaves the Vandals records in 2015 at…

3 – 8 overall

2 – 5 in Sun Belt play

…..and Paul Petrino’s overall record in THREE years at the school at…

5 – 29

…with only a game at Texas State left on the schedule.

If Idaho loses to Texas State to drop Paul Petrino’s THREE year record to…

5 – 30

….and will that record lead to a coaching change at Idaho?

We don’t have a Freaking Clue to the answer to that question nor do we really care either BUT Robb Akey seemed to have the Vandals playing better than Paul Petrino ever has….in our humble opinion of course!

18.  Charlie Partridge, Florida Atlantic – Charlie Partridge and his Florida Atlantic football team gave a Very Damn Un-Motivated Florida team ALL they wanted on Saturday and with that loss Partridge’s records in TWO years at the school drop to…

Overall:  5 – 18

CUSA:  4 – 1

…..which makes us wonder…

If Florida Atlantic played like they did against Florida all season what would the Owls record be in 2015?

We haven’t a clue to that question but for Damn sure we know that Charlie Partridge and his football team REALLY need to win at Old Dominion on Saturday or…

5 – 19

….in TWO seasons it will be and that’s NOT GOOD Charlie…that’s just NO DAMN GOOD!

19.  Jeff Monken, Army – Two years ago in September 2013 a handful of Coaches Hot Seat members were at West Point to see Stanford play Army in football and after seeing the Army football program up-close our opinion was then and is still today…

Army Football is just Too Small, Too Slow, and Too Weak

….to win football games on any kind of regular basis and new head coach Jeff Monken who took over Army at the beginning of the 2014 season and has posted an overall record of…

6 – 17

…at Army hasn’t really changed our assessment on the current state of Army football which looks to us be recruiting and playing at a…

Dramatically Lower Level Than either Air Force or Navy Football

….which begs the question:

What the Hell is wrong with Army Football?

It’s just our opinion which is a very Damn biased opinion coming from lots of US Navy Veterans here at Coaches Hot Seat BUT that opinion is…

The US Navy and US Air Force are right now are in dramatically better places than the US Army in thousands of different ways and the general malaise that dominates the US Army after a decade-plus of the American Republic fighting Bogus Wars in the Middle East has had a direct impact on the quality of students entering West Point and the caliber of football player that Army is able to recruit to West Point….in our opinion of course!

IF one our children showed an interest in joining the US Military we would advise them in the strongest way possible to join the US Navy first if they didn’t get seasick and to join the US Air Force if they weren’t afraid of flying but for…

God’s Sake don’t join the US Army and that also goes for NOT attending West Point!

Now that’s just our opinion and we are sure there are some GREAT kids at West Point right now BUT the US Army is a beat-up organization from top to bottom and thus it’s no Damn surprise to anyone here at Coaches Hot Seat that the Army football team is a Damn mess as well!

Army is now at 2 – 9 on the season only has Navy left to play on December 12 and we don’t believe there is a chance in Hell that Army can beat this very Damn good Navy team and with that we can only say…

Go Navy!

20.  Ron Turner, Florida International – Ron Turner has now coached for THREE seasons at FIU and has records on the board of…

Overall:  10 – 26

CUSA:  7 – 17

…..which to us is BAD but we don’t have a Freaking Clue what the above records mean to the folks that are in positions of power at FIU and we remind everyone Ron Turner has a record of…

1 – 2

….against cross-South Florida rival Florida Atlantic which is NOT GOOD either considering the current state of FAU football which is also NOT GOOD!
