21.  Chuck Martin, Miami (Ohio) – What the Hell is this? Chuck Martin’s Miami (Ohio) team gets a win over Eastern Michigan by the score of 28 – 13 on Saturday?

We are SHOCKED because that is only FOUR wins now for Chuck Martin coaching the Redhawks in TWO seasons on the job which has led to the following records on the board…

Overall:  4 – 18

MAC:  3 – 11

….and we have to wonder….

How man wins can Chuck Martin and the Redhawks get in 2015 still having to play…

Hell…we don’t know but it would be nice if Chuck Martin could win his last TWO games and get his ass off the Hot Seat!


22.  Charlie Strong, Texas – We don’t want to write in this spot that we will hear things and repeat them verbatim in this blog BUT a Coaches Hot Seat member was in Austin, Texas last week on business and while eating some of that good Texas barbeque two friends of the Coaches Hot Seat member were talking about Charlie Strong and the following was said after much discussion on the state of Texas football:

“I have this feeling that if the right school made a decent offer to Charlie Strong he would take it.”

What the Hell does that mean?

Would Charlie Strong maybe take a little less money to coach somewhere other than Texas to put the very unique in-fighting that exists around the Texas football program behind him and his family?

We don’t know the answer to that question but as we look over the now open head coaching jobs or head coaching jobs that will more than likely be coming open in the next few weeks….

We have a feeling that if South Carolina offered Charlie Strong $4 million dollars a year he would take it and run for his life out of Austin, Texas….which is our humble opinion of course.

Why would Charlie Strong take a $1 million dollar a year paycut to go from Texas to South Carolina which is clearly not as good of a job as the Longhorns head coaching job?

Call it Quality of Life or call it Something That is Familiar BUT most of all call it…

There are Lots of Pompous Arrogant Asses surrounding the Texas Football program that believe they are God’s Gift to the Earth that can make Austin a very uncomfortable place for a head coach and his family to live and we wouldn’t blame Charlie Strong at all if he went to South Carolina BUT would the Gamecocks be interested in hiring Charlie Strong considering the current state of Texas football?

Maybe…..Maybe Not.

As for the 2015 Texas Longhorns Charlie Strong has his football team sitting on a record of 4 – 5 and Texas still has to play games against…

Texas Tech
At Baylor

….and unless the Horns beat West Virginia this Saturday we don’t think there is a Chance in Hell that Texas gets to 6 wins in 2015 and that will make Texas a very uncomfortable place for Charlie Strong in the coming offseason AND if Baylor runs Texas in that last game of the season…

We wouldn’t be surprised if someone around the Texas football program steps-up to write a BIG check to get Charlie Strong fired which might just happen because after all….

23.  Mark Stoops, Kentucky – Mark Stoops is not an Idiot so like us he could see in live action and in watching a tape of the Georgia football game that his football team was just flat-out…

….the Sun Devils have beat next to NO ONE in 2015 and now Todd Graham’s football team which was predicted by some to be in the College Football Playoff is fighting to just get into a bowl game with these games still to be played….

Our opinion…..Arizona State SHOULD win their last THREE football games….BUT more than likely….Arizona State loses TWO of their last THREE football games which would lead to Todd Graham sitting on one of the Hottest Seats in the country going into the 2016 college football season.


25.  Kliff Kingsbury, Texas Tech – The loss to West Virginia on Saturday adds up to THREE straight losses for Kliff Kingsbury and leaves the Red Raiders at 5 – 5 on the season and needing another win just to get bowl eligible and is that what the “powers that be” at Texas Tech expected from Kingsbury’s football teams when they hired him THREE years ago in Lubbock….

Fighting for bowl eligibility with only TWO games left in the season?

NO…is the simple answer to that question and it would be a….

26.  Rich Rodriguez, Arizona – There are some fascinating things going on with Rich Rodriguez at Arizona and it will be very interesting to see what happens with RichRod in the coming weeks because it’s our opinion here at Coaches Hot Seat that Rodriguez is like most Americans that grow-up in the very green American East who are dropped into a place like Tucson, Arizona in the American Southwest which is how we feel as well growing up in the very green San Francisco Bay area which goes something like…

In our opinion…when in the RIGHT situation and properly motivated….

Rich Rodriguez is one of the best college football coaches in the country

….and that is why it’s so Damn important for Rodriguez to be in the right situation for himself and also his family and if we were RichRod’s agent right now we would be telling him something like….

“Focus on beating Utah and Arizona State….PERIOD…and let me talk to athletic directors and their “representatives” and we can sit down and talk on the evening of November 21 and see what if any viable options you might have on the table including a few very good jobs that are not now open that are likely to open in early December as coaches move to other programs.”

Focus on beating Utah Rich Rodriguez and the AD at Arizona Greg Byrne should make sure his potential head coach hiring list is updated and ready to go!


27.  Doug Martin, New Mexico State – Doug Martin’s New Mexico State team got ANOTHER win over Texas State on Saturday and now the Aggies record in 2015 stands at….

1.  Mark Richt, Georgia vs. Kentucky – With a maelstrom now enveloping the Georgia football program Dan Wolken of USA Today dropped a major stink-bomb into the entire Damn mess in Athens on Thursday with this story….

“Georgia athletics director Greg McGarity favored a coaching change after last season but was overruled by president Jere Morehead. Richt was then given a contract extension.”

…which we here at Coaches Hot Seat don’t believe for a nanosecond because at the end of last year even after a mediocre season by Georgia standards Mark Richt was nowhere near the Hot Seat and we are quite confident if given the choice current Georgia AD Greg McGarity would rather see Richt stay at Georgia for a long time and winning big while he was still there which McGarity later confirmed….

…and if you think Greg McGarity is going to lie about something that important or lie about anything for that matter then you have lost all touch with reality.

Getting back to Mark Richt’s job status which as the 2015 college football season heads toward the finish is most certainly in question we cannot express the anger of the Georgia alums that live around a few dozen Coaches Hot Seat members in North Atlanta over the way their Bulldogs have played in recent years and more importantly have performed in the most important games each season.

We are talking about Georgia Football here which in our opinion here at Coaches Hot Seat is the FOURTH best college football program in the country and thus the fans of Georgia Football expect a Helluva lot out of their program that is ranked that high as detailed below which is not only in order the Best College Football Programs in America BUT also the order of Best College Football Head Coaching Jobs in America….in our humble opinion:

IF Texas should somehow slop around and lose to this PITIFUL Kansas team in Austin on Saturday

6.  Mark Helfrich, Oregon vs. California – Oregon pulled a win out of its ass against Arizona State primarily due to the Complete Damn Stupidity of ASU head coach Todd Graham and now the Ducks are 5 – 3 on the season with these games left to be played:

There are a few dozen high school teams in the state of Oregon that could beat Oregon State so the Ducks will be going bowling in 2015 but is 6 wins really good enough for the folks that pour Tens of Millions of Dollars into the Oregon football program?

NO is the answer to that question and why beating California on Saturday is so Damn important to Mark Helfrich and the Ducks.

7.  Rich Rodriguez, Arizona vs. USC – Arizona has played FOUR decent football teams in 2015 and look at the scores in those FOUR losses:

Stanford: 55 – 17

Washington State: 45 – 42

Washington: 49 – 3

Damn…and Arizona is playing USC on Saturday in the Coliseum!

8.  Darrell Hazell, Purdue vs. Illinois – Whatever the rationale for giving Darrell Hazell a FOURTH season at Purdue the FACTS are that when the last Purdue head coach Danny Hope was fired after posting a 6 – 6 record in 2012 which was the SECOND straight season that Hope had gotten the Boilermakers eligible for a bowl game Purdue AD Morgan Burke released the following statement on Hope’s firing:

“There is no question that our football program has seen considerable growth under Danny’s leadership, particularly in the areas of academics, player development and recruiting,” athletic director Morgan Burke said. “I applaud him for his passion about Purdue University and the young men he coaches. He and his staff have devoted their lives to improving the program, but as I told him earlier this afternoon, those efforts did not equate to the consistent on-field success that both of us expected.”
