15 CFB Head Coaches Facing MUST WIN Games in Week 7
Bret Bielema, Arkansas vs. Alabama – With word out of Arkansas this week that Bret Bielema’s buyout is actually less than $6 million rather than more than $15 million….
…maybe it was Arkansas AD Jeff Long trying to give what he thought was a HUGE buyout to Bielema to insulate both Beliema AND Long from both of them getting their asses run out of Fayetteville if what is now happening actually happened at Arkansas! Hard to believe anyone knows what they the Hell they are doing at Arkansas, but whatever was the intent of the contract extension by Jeff Long for Bielema a few years back it was a STUPID deal that even with a $5.9 million dollar buyout has put the Arkansas Athletic Department behind the 8-ball and if the 2017 Arkansas football season falls to pieces we cannot imagine how….
Jeff Long can possible stay employed by the University of Arkansas!
Now at 2 – 3 on the season Arkansas travels to Tuscaloosa to play Mighty Alabama at the very worst time for Bret Bielema and his football team with a game against Auburn at home on deck and we cannot under any circumstances imagine that Bielema can lose these next two games to drop to 2 – 5 on the season with these games then left…
At Ole Miss
….and keep his job save winning out because even if Bielema finished at 6 – 6 in Year 5 on the job is that really good enough for Arkansas Football?
Not from where we sit but then maybe a bunch of college football fans in San Francisco have higher standards for Arkansas Football than do the fans of Arkansas Football in the Great State of Arkansas who if willing to accept this kind of mediocre football have sacrificed forever the right to say ANYTHING about the Razorbacks losing football games ANYTIME in the future!
Barry Odom, Missouri vs. Georgia – 1 – 4 Mizzou Football plays at Georgia on Saturday which is totally an unwinnable game in our minds since if the Bulldogs lost this game it would be such a MASSIVE upset that it would launch Kirby Smart’s ass right to the top of the Coaches Hot Seat Rankings and with that mind the Tigers will be 1 – 5 come Saturday evening with these games still left on the schedule:
If Mizzou was just a mediocre football team they should win at least FOUR of their remaining SIX games but is Mizzou even mediocre?
We are going to find out over the next several weeks!
Todd Graham, Arizona State vs. Washington – In the last three seasons Todd Graham at Arizona State has posted records of…
Overall: 13 – 17
Pac-12: 7 – 13
….and thus it’s clear why Graham is on the Hot Seat and at 2 – 3 on the 2017 season here comes the Mighty Washington Huskies to Temple with Chris Petersen winning 21 of his last 23 games as the head coach at UW.
In his sixth season at Arizona State this is a game that Todd Graham should be able win and yet it’s Washington that is rolling like a steamroller in this game which if the Sun Devils lose will drop their record to…
2 – 4
…with these games still left to be played:
At Oregon State
Can Arizona State win 4 of their last 6 games if they lose to Washington to get at least 6 wins on the board in 2017?
We don’t see how and thus why UW is a MUST WIN Game for Todd Graham and ASU!
Mike Riley, Nebraska vs. Ohio State – The win/loss records say it all for Mike Riley who in his third season at Nebraska has records on the board of…
Overall: 18 – 14
Big Ten: 11 – 9
…which is AVERAGE at best if you were the head coach at Illinois in our humble opinion and of course Riley is the head coach of Nebraska which in paraphrasing NFL Films on the Great Vince Lombardi….
“Nebraska…a certain magic still lingers in the very name. It speaks of duels in the snow and cold November months.”
Sorry..maybe the Stanford Football Fans at Coaches Hot Seat have unreasonable expectations for Nebraska Football….No, No we don’t….and Mike Riley’s records are in our opinion not good enough for Huskers Football and barring Riley winning out…or maybe at worst losing only one more game…we fully expect a head coaching change in Lincoln come December which we fully expect will be done a first-class way knowing the folks in the Great State of Nebraska…but a coaching change it will be!
Oh…here’s the rest of Nebraska’s schedule this season:
At Penn State
Hell…if Mike Riley does win out he should get another year at least coaching Nebraska because that’s a Helluva tough schedule starting with a MUST WIN Game against Ohio State on Saturday!
Ed Orgeron, LSU vs. Auburn – Ed Orgeron and LSU were lucky to run into a Florida Football team last Saturday that has one of the worst offenses on the FBS level ranking…
…out of 129 teams after six weeks of games with the Gators basically handing the victory to the Tigers in Gainesville on a 14 carat gold platter an elaborately wrapped box and with that win LSU is now 4 – 2 on the season with these games left to be played…
At Ole Miss
Most folks think that LSU has little shot of slowing down the Auburn offense enough to beat the Tigers so if they do lose on Saturday to drop to 4 – 3 on the year…and that’s still an IF….LSU will face five more teams down the stretch with only one of them having more talent on the field…Alabama.
How many games can LSU win in 2017 in Ed Orgeron’s first full year on the job when playing 9 teams they have more talent than?
Our guess….LSU will have SIX wins when Texas A&M comes to town on November 2 with Joe Alleva and Ed Orgeron’s future on the line in the game against the Aggies when Kevin Sumlin’s future may be on the line as well!
Lincoln Riley, Oklahoma vs. Texas – In Oklahoma’s last two games against Baylor and Iowa State the Sooners have looked like a team losing its identity with the only goal being…
Scoring Lots of Points
…hoping we guess the other teams scores less and if that trend continues we think there’s a real chance Oklahoma could lose…3…maybe 4… more games in 2017 with these games left to be played:
Texas – Dallas
At Kansas State
At Oklahoma State
Hell…only Kansas is a Sure Win right now for Oklahoma and if the Sooners did lose to Texas on Saturday in a MUST WIN Game for Lincoln Riley then it is going to heat up in Norman for Riley which is an experience that few have had the displeasure of knowing in OU history but every coach that did experience it…
Saw his ass fired not long after!
Jim Harbaugh, Michigan vs. Indiana – Several of us got to see Jim Harbaugh close up and personal at Stanford and we can tell you…
Jimmy is scared…Damn scared of the play of the Michigan offense
….right now and that is because Jimmy has looked at the rest of the Wolverines schedule and he sees some teams that will be able to score 14 to 20 points in a game and Jimmy may be thinking something like…
Hell…with my current QB options we may not be able to score 14+ points in many upcoming games!
It’s all too clear what’s wrong with the Michigan offense as Nicole Auerbach so clearly lays out at The Athletic…
…and to us it seems that most of these problems are not fixable without more talent in Ann Arbor which means that either Jimmy Harbaugh comes out of his shell and lets his playcallers cut it loose and take some chances in order to try and get some points on the board or 2017 could be one Helluva long season.
Michigan plays Indiana on Saturday in an obvious MUST WIN Game but after the Hoosiers Blue has left…
At Penn State
Hell…with the current Michigan offense that looks like….2…maybe 3…more losses for the Wolverines in 2017 and knowing Jimmy Harbaugh the way we do…
That would make for one Helluva LONG offseason for Jimmy!
Butch Jones, Tennessee vs. South Carolina – Butch Jones has arrived to this spot in his coaching career by his own doing which involves saying a couple of dozen things at Tennessee that we still don’t understand what the Hell Butch was trying to say and win/loss records that at a place like Tennessee are just no Big Whoop:
Overall: 33 – 23
SEC: 14 – 20
It also doesn’t help that Jones record against Power 5 Conference Schools in five seasons at Tennessee he has posted a record of….
20 – 23
….which means Butch has done a nice job of beating the Cupcakes the last five years but this is Tennessee where ANY coach should be able to handle the Cupcakes on a consistent basis.
South Carolina is of course beyond a MUST WIN Game for Butch Jones because dropping 3 – 3 on the season with games…
….up next followed by these games…
….looks like 6 or 7 wins for the Vols in 2017 and we cannot imagine Butch Jones surviving a 6 or 7 win season in his 5 th in Knoxville!
David Beaty, Kansas vs. Iowa State – David Beaty is in his third season at Kansas and has records on the board of…
Overall: 3 – 26
Big 12: 1 – 19
….and those 3 wins were against….
SE Missouri State
Geez…Charlie Strong must feel GREAT to be among the head coach of a team that’s on the above list of teams!
Kansas still has to play in 2017…
At Iowa State
At Oklahoma State
…and we cannot imagine the Jayhawks winning another game this season….PERIOD.
Steve Addazio, Boston College vs. Louisville – Steve Addazio is coaching his FIFTH season at BC and has posted records of…
Overall: 26 – 31
ACC: 11 – 24
…and if the above records are acceptable to the Administration at Boston College they should fire themselves today because we are old enough to know there is no Damn good reason why BC doesn’t have a coach that can have .500+ records on the board…EASY!
Now at 2 – 4 on the season Addazio and BC have left to play in 2017…
…and we wouldn’t be surprised if the Eagles only win one more game this season!
Jim Mora, UCLA vs. Arizona – Jim Mora won a lot of games in his first FOUR years at UCLA posting a record of…
37 – 16
…but the last TWO seasons Mora has a record on the board of….
6 – 10
….and thus why even a man with a MASSIVE buyout is feeling the heat as the 3 – 2 Bruins head to Tucson to play Arizona.
After Arizona the Bruins have left to play…
….which makes us think UCLA will have a tough time even getting to 6 wins if the Bruins lose to Arizona so of course…it’s a MUST WIN Game!
Rich Rodriguez, Arizona vs. UCLA – In SIX seasons at Arizona Rich Rodriguez has an OK record on the board…
Overall: 39 – 31
Pac-12: 20 – 27
…but the last three seasons Rodriguez’s record stands at…
13 – 17
….thus why RichRod is on the Hot Seat and facing a MUST WIN Home Game against UCLA that would be a Disaster with a loss since the Wildcats still have to play games after the Bruins against…
At Arizona State
Damn….if Arizona drops to 3 – 3 on the season with a loss to UCLA they will have a Helluva time getting to 6 wins and we cannot imagine RichRod surviving two straight losing years in Tucson!
Kevin Sumlin, Texas A&M vs. Florida – After the beyond disastrous season opening loss to UCLA….which isn’t that great of a football team…Kevin Sumlin and his Aggies got fat beating…
….and now at 4 – 2 A&M gets back to somewhat Big Boy Football in Week 7 with a game against Florida…which really isn’t that great of a team that has NO offense at all!
Kevin Sumlin needs 9+ wins to keep his job and with these games left to be played and 4 wins on the board…
At Ole Miss
…we rather doubt the Aggies can win 9+ games in 2017 if they don’t beat Florida in Gainesville so Yep this is a MUST WIN Game for Sumlin and the Aggies!
Jim McElwain, Florida vs. Texas A&M – In three seasons at Florida head coach Jim McElwain has OK records on the board…
Overall: 22 – 10
SEC: 16 – 4
…but this is FLORIDA we are talking about where the previous head coach Will Muschamp…who got his ass run out of town….had at this same spot in his third year at FLORIDA a record of…
22 – 10
…on the board and like Muschamp the current head coach McElwain will be held to the “Florida standard” where any Damn moron could drive over from Jacksonville and coach the Gators to 7+ wins a year just rolling the balls out on the field and going to a local bar in Gainesville during practice!
After a Disastrous loss to LSU on Saturday which was a team we now know was falling to pieces as it arrived in Gainesville the Gators have left in 2017…
At South Carolina
…and if the Gators play the rest of the year like they did against LSU they will be LUCKY to win 3 more games which is 6 wins total and would place Jim McElwain’s rear-end on one of the Hottest Seats in America come December!
Larry Fedora, North Carolina vs. Virginia – We’re not sure what the Hell is going on at North Carolina under head coach Larry Fedora this season but the Tar Heels are 1 – 5 on the year and have looked like they are barely coached at times and UNC still has to play games against:
At Virginia Tech
At NC State
Hell…North Carolina might only win one more game in 2017 so Hell Yes beating Virginia is a MUST!
