2018 Post Week 2 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings – Thank You Johnny Cash!

We are off to a great start to the 2018 college football season which has about fifty good storylines going including football coaches suddenly finding their ass on the Hot Seat for the first time in their coaching careers and with that in mind let’s bring out the Great Johnny Cash to get to this weeks Top 10 College Head Coaches on the Hot Seat after Week 2!

Thank You As Always Johnny Cash!

2018 Post Week 2 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings

1.  Urban Meyer, Ohio State – Ohio State had looked great in destroying Oregon State and Rutgers to open the 2018 season….2 Cupcakes for sure but still the Buckeyes are playing some very efficient football even with their head coach on the sideline. Urban Meyer will miss a third game this week in Ft. Worth against TCU in a match-up that has not only attracted College Gameday but also the Vegas Boys have made OSU 13-point favorites on the road against the Horned Frogs.

Ohio State easily has double the talent of TCU and should easily win this game…if they play turnover free football and that is where Gary Patterson and his football team comes in which should be ready to give the Buckeyes a good football game that will no doubt be killing Urban Meyer wherever he will be watching it…if he will be able to watch it that is!

Knowing how much missing on coaching in the OSU – TCU game is appropriate penance for Meyer and should be a tremendous less for Urban and other coaches to remind them that they should pay close attention to the make-up of their coaching staffs and support personnel and when they spot a Self-Consumed Punk they should think hard and long about the inherent risks in keeping that Self-Consumed Punk around their football program and university!

We will go Ohio State beats TCU by ten points in a great football game!

2.  Larry Fedora, North Carolina – Counting the loss to end the 2016 regular season to NC State and the Sun Bowl of the same year that a few at Coaches Hot Seat were at to see the Tar Heels lose to Stanford Larry Fedora is sitting on a record of….

3 – 13

…in UNC’s last 16 games and now coming on the heels of a 22 point loss to an East Carolina team that has been as bad as UNC the last few seasons we have a full-bodied Code Red Total Disaster on our hands in Chapel Hill!

Now at 0 – 2 UNC has left to play in 2018…

UCF
Pitt
At Miami
Virginia Tech
At Syracuse
At Virginia
Georgia Tech
At Duke
Western Carolina
NC State

Unless Larry Fedora can rally the Tar Heels that looks like a 3 or 4 win season coming off a 3 – 9 record in 2017 and that record would lead to a Helluva coaching job that a Helluva Lot of football coaches would love to have opening up in early December!

3.  Willie Taggart, Florida State – We are not quite sure what Willie Taggart and his FSU coaching staff have been doing since they took over the Seminoles in January but for Damn sure….

They have not been coaching this football team

….because there is not a player on the Samford football team that could be on the 4-deep at FSU and yet….Samford had Florida State on the ropes into the 4 th quarter in Tallahassee which would have been the…

Beginning of the End of the Willie Taggart Regime at FSU

….and from talking to a few FSU alums on Sunday including one we have known since the late 1980s….

If Willie Taggart doesn’t get this Total Disaster turned around at FSU he will not be the head coach of the Seminoles in 2019!

The Florida State coaches could just roll the balls out on the field and go to a local bar in Tallahassee and let the players practice themselves and there’s plenty of talent to win….

6 Games A Year

…but when you look at the rest of the now 1 – 1 Florida State schedule we are beginning to wonder if the Seminoles will win another game in 2018!

At Syracuse
Northern Illinois
At Louisville
At Miami
Wake Forest
Clemson
At NC State
At Notre Dame
Boston College
Florida

Geez….if FSU plays the way it did against Virginia Tech and Samford they will NOT win another game this season and when we asked our FSU-alum buddy what would happen if the Seminoles ended the season at 1 – 11 he says….

“They won’t sell 1,000 seasons tickets for the 2019 season if Taggart is still the coach. Hell…if they win less than 6 games I am done with FSU football until they fix that Damn mess in Tallahassee which includes ousting several people that hold tremendous power in the booster organization that are just worthless as Hell!”

Like Chapel Hill…we have a Code Red Total Disaster going on in Tallahassee and Willie Taggart just better Damn find a way to beat Syracuse on Saturday or there will be about 15,000 people at the Northern Illinois game the next Saturday in Tallahassee!

4.  Kalani Sitake, BYU – BYU played pretty good against a decent California team on Saturday losing 21 – 18 and now the 1 – 1 Cougars need to regroup quickly because they have a trip to play Wisconsin in Madison which looks like a Badgers team that can be beat if UW is not focused and what a win it would be if BYU could go on the road and beat the Badgers…but come now…that’s big IF!

Basically when you get right down to brass tacks this is about BYU getting to 6 wins in 2018 which would give head coach Sitake the ability to say that the team improved over the 4 – 9 record last season and with that in mind the 1 – 1 Cougars have left in 2018….

At Wisconsin
McNeese
At Washington
Utah State
Hawaii
Northern Illinois
At Boise State
At UMass
New Mexico State
At Utah

We see 2 easy wins on that schedule….McNeese and New Mexico State at home….that’s 3 wins….which means BYU will need to beat…

Utah State
Hawaii
Northern Illinois

…at home and then to get to 7 wins beat UMass on the road and in our minds…that is very doable although an Utah State team that can score a lot of points will not be an easy win nor will Hawaii or Northern Illinois!

Good Luck in Madison Cougars!

5.  David Beaty, Kansas – Congrats to David Beaty and Kansas for getting a nice road win at Central Michigan on Saturday which is a Big 12 team beating a MAC team which should be a forgone conclusion….but come now…this is Kansas we are talking about here and it’s back to reality in Week 3 for the Jayhawks with Non-Big Ten Powerhouse Rutgers coming to Lawrence which is a….

Very Winnable Football Game

…since Rutgers just got blasted by 49 points by the Buckeyes!

How many games will Kansas win in 2018 with these games left to play?

Rutgers
At Baylor
Oklahoma State
At West Virginia
At Texas Tech
TCU
Iowa State
At Kansas State
At Oklahoma
Texas

Our guess….1 more game to finish at 2 – 10 on the season!

6.  Kevin Sumlin, Arizona – We originally put Kevin Sumlin on the Hot Seat this past offseason when he banned the media from covering Spring practice which is an uniquely Stupid Thing for a new head football coach to do and we fully expected after early wins over BYU at home and Houston the road Sumlin would be off the Hot Seat but now….BUT Arizona looks like a football team that has gotten….

No Coaching At All

…over the last 8 months and there’s a real chance that an Arizona team loaded with plenty of talent to win 8 games will not even get 6 wins in 2018 with these games still left to play on the schedule:

Southern Utah
At Oregon State
USC
California
At Utah
At UCLA
Oregon
Colorado
At Washington State
Arizona State

Hell….Arizona will be LUCKY to win 4 games in 2018 if they play like they did against BYU and Houston to open the season which is…

Undisciplined
Unfocused
Un-Everything

…and in the end really….Un-Coached!

There’s an old rule of thumb about hiring someone for a challenging job:

Don’t hire someone to do a challenging job that just got run from their last job that saw them get paid Millions of Dollars because in our opinion that person is not going to be motivated to do that new challenging job because….they have Millions of Dollars in the bank!

Let’s see if that rule of thumb proves true and Arizona turns into a Code Red Total Disaster which it’s right on the brink of right now!

7.  Dan Mullen, Florida – In all his time at Mississippi State new Florida head coach Dan Mullen flirted with the Hot Seat a few times BUT he was able to stay off the Hot Seat because our expectations for Mississippi State are a Helluva Lot Lower than our expectations for Florida and our first expectation for Florida is….

Your Ass Better Not Lose To Kentucky Especially At Home!

That was just a Freaking Damn Embarrassment the way the Florida Gators played against Kentucky at home running out a quarterback that would not start for thousands of high school teams across the country and a football team that not only….

Did Not Look Prepared To Play Football

…they also…

Did Not Look Very Damn Motivated

…and when we see that at…

FLORIDA

….your ass goes right on the Hot Seat!

Let’s see what the 1 – 1 Gators have left in 2018 to see just what kind of Damn Disaster we are dealing with here >

Colorado State
At Tennessee
At Mississippi State
LSU
At Vanderbilt
Georgia – Jacksonville
Missouri
South Carolina
Idaho
At Florida State

Geez…if the Gators beat Colorado State and Idaho that is 3 wins….and Hell Samford can also beat FSU in Tallahassee so that might be a win which makes 4 wins….but where in the Hell is Florida going to find even 2 more wins to get to 6 on the year?

Got Dan Mullen’s ass is now on the Hot Seat and may never get off until he gets fired at Florida?

Yep!

Keep that potential next head coaches for the Gators list handy there Florida AD Scott Stricklin because you might need it Son!

8. Kliff Kingsbury, Texas Tech – Texas Tech destroyed Lamar on Saturday but come now….Lamar is a Damn Joke Cupcake and now it’s back to Big Boy Football with Houston coming to Lubbock in game that Kliff Kingsbury just…

Flat-Out Cannot Lose

…because a loss in this spot to drop to 1 – 2 with these games still left….

At Oklahoma State
West Virginia
At TCU
Kansas
At Iowa State
Oklahoma
Texas
At Kansas State
Baylor

….will be 4 or 5 wins tops and there’s not a chance in Hell Kingsbury can survive less than 6 wins in 2018 to return for 2019!

Our guess if Tech loses to Houston Saturday they finish with a record of…

3 – 9

….and Texas Tech which is a decent job will open up by December 1.

9.  Jim Harbaugh, Michigan – Michigan destroyed a mediocre Western Michigan team on Saturday and now comes another team in SMU that Blue should destroy in Ann Arbor to at least get this ball rolling a little and assuming Blue beats the Mustangs….

And They Better Damn Beat Em or Jim Harbaugh is Headed for a Code Red Total Disaster

…what is left on the schedule isn’t exactly easy…

Nebraska
At Northwestern
Maryland
Wisconsin
At Michigan State
Penn State
At Rutgers
Indiana
At Ohio State

Michigan has plenty of talent and a good enough of a defense to be AT WORST….

9 – 2

…when they head to Columbus on November 24 to play Ohio State and that’s the standard we are setting for Jimmy Harbaugh this season….

1 more loss between now and the Buckeyes

…and that loss better Damn not be to SMU on Saturday Jimmy or your ass will be on…

Face of the Sun Hot Seat!

10.  Lovie Smith, Illinois – Lovie Smith’s Illini opened up the 2018 season with wins over Big-Time Cupcakes….

Kent State
Western Illinois

….and now it’s back to the Real World with USF coming to town on Saturday and then these games to finish the season:

Penn State
At Rutgers
Purdue
At Wisconsin
At Maryland
Minnesota
At Nebraska
Iowa
At Northwestern

Illinois is now 2 – 0 and our guess…they finish the season at…

4 – 8

…which would mean Lovie Smith has put up records of….

3 – 9
2 – 10
4 – 8

Overall:  9 – 27

Would that keep Lovie Smith employed for another year at Illinois?

How the Hell could it?

Post Week 8 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings – Give These Hot Seat Coaches Hell Johnny Cash!

Post Week 8 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings

Give These Hot Seat Coaches Hell Johnny Cash!

Thanks Mr. Cash!

1.  Butch Jones, Tennessee – The overall record for Butch Jones at Tennessee is bad enough…

33 – 25

….in his FIFTH year on the job but it’s Jones record in SEC Conference play that is the reason he’s headed for the chopping block…

14 – 22

…with these games still left to be played in 2017:

At Kentucky
Southern Miss
At Missouri
LSU
Vanderbilt

Yep…even if Butch Jones and his Vols won their last 4 SEC Conference games his record in SEC play would still just be…

18 – 22

….and there’s No Chance In Hell that fans of Tennessee Football should tolerate Butch Jones’ SEC record and thus that’s why the Vols will have a new head football coach come 2018!

Our guess…Tennessee finishes with a 4 – 8 record in 2017 and a Total Damn Mess on its hands as the folks in Knoxville try to figure out where to go next….here’s a tip for Tennessee AD John Currie when considering who to hire as the next head football coach at Tennessee:

Imagine in your mind’s eye Nick Saban’s reaction to hearing the name of the person who Tennessee hired to be its next head football coach. Is Nick smiling, does he have no reaction, does he grunt and think that maybe the Vols will be a tough win now. Don’t hire the coach that makes Nick Saban smile Currie!

2.  Bret Bielema, Arkansas – With the loss to Auburn on Saturday Bret Bielema’s record in SEC play in his FIFTH year on the job is now at…

10 – 26

….which is a winning percentage of…

.278

…and the previous two head coaches at Arkansas Houston Nutt and Bobby Petrino posted a combined winning percentage in SEC Conference play of…

.527

Considering the above there is a very good argument that could be made that Bret Bielema is the…

WORST HIRE

…in the SEC Conference since the end of World War II which would mean Arkansas AD Jeff Long has hired as the head coach of the Razorbacks:

Bobby Petrino – Wouldn’t hire to wash our cars!
John L. Smith – Only an insane person would hire John L. Smith!
Bret Bielema – The WORST hire in SEC since end of World War II!

Now at 2 – 5 on the season Arkansas still has to play this season games against…

At Ole Miss
Coastal Carolina
At LSU
Mississippi State
Missouri

…and there is a very real chance that the Hogs finish with just THREE wins in Bret Bielema’s FIFTH year on the job in Fayetteville!

Got fire the whole Damn Arkansas athletic department?

You do if you don’t want Arkansas Football Totally Destroyed!

3.  David Beaty, Kansas – It was just Stupid at Kansas but after the Jayhawks 43 – 0 loss to TCU the week after losing to Iowa State 45 – 0 it’s just…

Who gives a Damn about Kansas Football?

…and the answer to that question would be…NO ONE AT ALL!

David Beaty is in his THIRD season at Kansas and his records are…

Overall:  3 – 28

Big 12:  1 – 21

…and if Beaty isn’t fired before December 1 then why in the Hell is Kansas even bothering to play football?

Same goes for Kansas AD Sheahon Zenger who hired Charlie Weis and David Beaty and if Zenger worked in the Real World and not on a college campus his ass would have been…

Fired Long Ago!

4.  Mike Riley, Nebraska – Mike Riley had a good week in the bye week because the Huskers didn’t get their ass whipped and now the 3 – 4 Huskers travel to play a decent Purdue team that somehow just lost to Rutgers and if Nebraska loses this game it will be because the Husker players have…

Flat-Out Quit

….but there are many here at Coaches Hot Seat that believe a lot of Husker football players Flat-Out Quit against Ohio State!

3 – 4 Nebraska has left in 2017….

At Purdue
Northwestern
At Minnesota
At Penn State
Iowa

….which looks to us like a losing season for the Huskers but Mike Riley had 5 losing seasons in 14 seasons coaching at Oregon State…including the season before he was hired at Nebraska…which makes one wonder…

Why in the Hell was Mike Riley hired at Nebraska?

Because former Nebraska Athletic Director Shawn Eichorst doesn’t know his ass from the side of a barn…that’s why!

5.  Lovie Smith, Illinois – With the Illini’s loss to Minnesota on Saturday Lovie Smith’s records at Illinois now stand at…

Overall:  5 – 14

Big Ten:  2 – 11

…and those 5 wins were over:

Murray State
Rutgers
Michigan State
Ball State
Western Kentucky

Please….can someone….anyone…tell us why Lovie Smith is the head football coach at Illinois?

Didn’t think so!

6.  Jim Harbaugh, Michigan – A few Coaches Hot Seat members were there on the day that Jim Harbaugh was introduced as the new head football coach at Stanford in December 2006 and we were there when Stanford beat USC in Jimmy’s first season in early October 2006 at the LA Coliseum and we were there for ALL of Jimmy’s FOUR seasons on The Farm and thus we believe we know Jimmy Harbaugh very well!

With the above in mind it’s obvious to us that something is…

Terribly Wrong at Michigan

….and it goes beyond Jimmy’s record in his last 11 games which is by the way…

6 – 5

…and we are not going to pretend we know what is going but there’s something….

Terribly Wrong at Michigan

…in our humble opinion of course!

Most surprising of all to us here at Coaches Hot Seat who watched Jim Harbaugh recruit Andrew Luck and several other solid quarterbacks to Stanford when the 2017 season kicked-off Michigan didn’t have a FBS-level QB on its roster which begs the question?

What the Hell is going on Jimmy?

Well let’s see here….watching replays of Michigan’s games against Michigan State and Penn State we have come to the following conclusions about the Wolverines offense = Jim Harbaugh’s offense:

1.  Michigan doesn’t have a FBS-level QB on its roster. Hell, Michigan doesn’t have a college-level QB on its roster. Hell, Michigan doesn’t have a high school level QB on its roster! Yes…that’s a Helluva problem Jimmy!

2.  The Michigan Offensive line could be easily whipped in a fist fight by 3…maybe even 2…members of Coaches Hot Seat and as a group there is not a bigger group of Candy Asses in America…save the Candy Ass Tech Boys in Silicon Valley…than the Michigan Offensive Line. Yes…that’s a Helluva problem Jimmy!

3.  The Michigan Running Backs and Wide Receivers are hardly coached at all and if they are coached the coaches that are coaching them should be fired…like this afternoon! SOFT and LAZY are the words that come to mind when we think of the Michigan Running Backs and Wide Receivers and…Yes, that’s a Helluva problem Jimmy!

4.  The Michigan offensive play-calling in one word is…SHIT! Make that TOTAL SHIT..and Yes, that’s a Helluva problem Jimmy!

Besides all of the above you have a pretty decent offense at Michigan this season Jimmy!

Michigan is now 5 – 2 in 2017 and still has the below games left on their schedule:

Rutgers
Minnesota
At Maryland
At Wisconsin
Ohio State

Hell….Michigan might only win 2…maybe 3…more games in 2017 which is Jim Harbaugh’s THIRD year on the job and we only have the following to say to Jimmy Harbaugh:

Get your Damn ass together Son or your head coaching career is going to be over in a flash!

7.  Kalani Sitake, BYU – The calls from our Mormon friends in Utah started about four weeks ago after Utah State beat BYU by the score of…

40 – 24

…and if you have Mormon friends then you know….

These folks don’t complain about ANYTHING

…and yet their calls keep coming and they are saying things like….

“You just cannot believe what is going on behind the scenes of BYU football.”

“BYU football is just the biggest mess you can possible imagine.”

“I am shocked about what I am being told is going on in Provo.”

At first we didn’t know what to think but after BYU lost to East Carolina..one of the worst teams in FBS football…on Saturday by the score of…

33 – 17

…we are now convinced after doing some checking of our own that BYU Football is in a Meltdown for the Ages in the history of college football in America and that the Cougars might not win another game this season even with some very weak teams left on their schedule:

San Jose State
At Fresno State
At UNLV
UMass
At Hawaii

Because the information we have gathered is second-hand we are not going to write our opinion on what is going on with BYU Football but we will say this…if the current trend continues….BYU may very well have a new head football coach come December and the Kalani Sitake era at BYU will be over before it really even got started.

8.  Kliff Kingsbury, Texas Tech – If there was one thing that Kliff Kingsbury could not have let happened in Year FIVE as the head coach at Texas Tech was let Iowa State come into Lubbock and whip his Red Raiders on Homecoming weekend which leaves Kingsbury’s records now at…

Overall:  28 – 29

Big 12:  14 – 26

…and Texas Tech now at 4 – 3 on the season still having to play these teams:

At Oklahoma
Kansas State
Baylor
TCU
At Texas

Damn….it’s going to be mighty hard for Texas Tech to get to 6 wins on the season and less than 6 wins in 2017 and Kingsbury will have posted…

3 Losing Seasons in 5 Years on the Job

….which even at Texas Tech will get your ass fired…right?

Right!

Since it seems obvious that now member of TCU coaching staff Sonny Dykes would be a natural fit as the head coach at Texas Tech we would recommend that Kingsbury find a way to get to at least SEVEN wins in 2017 or more than likely the folks in Lubbock will be hiring them a new head football coach December.

9.  Larry Fedora, North Carolina – After North Carolina’s 59 – 7 loss to Virginia Tech on Saturday one has to wonder if the Tar Heels have totally quit on head coach Larry Fedora or maybe this is just God’s way of getting justice against the North Carolina Athletic Department which somehow was able to get away with…

Totally Not Monitoring the Academic Activities of its Athletes

…for decades but whatever the reason for the current slide of UNC Football there is one thing we know for sure….

North Carolina is getting its ass-whipped on a regular basis in 2017 and either Larry Fedora will fix this mess in Chapel Hill or his ass should and will get run right out of town!

North Carolina is now 1 – 7 on the season and has left to play…

Miami
At Pitt
Western Carolina
At NC State

Got 2 – 10 Larry?

You are about to have it Son!

10.  Jim McElwain, Florida – It seems that Jim McElwain’s luck is finally running out which began long before he got the head coaching job at Florida and actually began when Nick Saban plucked Jimmy from Fresno State to be the offensive coordinator at Alabama where…

Any Damn Moron can get the Alabama offense to score 30+ points a game

…which then led to Jimmy getting the Colorado State job where he did some decent work and then the Florida job where Jimmy was fortunate enough to arrive in Gainesville when the SEC East was the weakest it has been since the SEC went to two divisions BUT Oh those days are over and on Saturday the 3 – 3 Gators get to play a Georgia Football team that is actually a…

Georgia Football Team

…and by late Saturday night the Gators will no doubt be 3 – 4 with these games still left on the schedule:

At Missouri
At South Carolina
UBA
Florida State

Hell…Florida will be lucky to win 6 games in 2017 and thus it looks like Jim McElwain will be on the Hot Seat for the foreseeable future.

Oh and here’s something else Jimmy..not only could Any Damn Moron get the Alabama offense to score 30+ points a game…

Any Damn Moron can win 8 games a year at Florida!

Personally we like Jim McElwain and ran into him a couple of times when he was with the Oakland Raiders in 2006 and in the Flathead Valley of Montana where we are almost every Summer for a fishing trip BUT Jimmy if you are presented with a good head coaching job offer at another Power 5 school in the coming weeks…you might want to consider it Jimmy because things are about to get really HOT in Gainesville not withstanding whatever Yahoos have been sending you and your players death threats which should be turned over to the police immediately!

Coach ‘Em Up Jimmy!

2017 Post Week 6 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings – Tom Petty + Stevie Nicks Learning To Fly – Thanks Tom and Godspeed Son! – Johnny Cash Giving The Hot Seat Coaches Hell! – Welcome To The Hot Seat Lincoln Riley…Head Coach of the Charmin Very Damn Soft Oklahoma Sooners!

Learning To Fly, Tom Petty and his 40+ year friend Stevie Nicks!

Thank You Tom for your amazing music and God Speed To You Son…Your Music Will Live Forever!

Post Week 6 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings

Give These Hot Seat Coaches Hell Johnny Cash!

Thank You Mr. Cash!

1.  Bret Bielema, Arkansas – In the last decade-plus we have written a lot in this Coaches Hot Seat Blog about the importance of Athletic Directors making Damn sure they hire head football coaches that “fit” the culture and history of the school the AD words for, but this is the first time we have written about something just as important:

Coaches taking jobs where they “fit” the culture and history of the school.

A handful of Coaches Hot Seat members have stopped in at Madison, Wisconsin a few times while on business trips in the Great State of Wisconsin and even been to a couple Wisconsin Badgers football games and on one of those trips a few years ago when Bret Bielema was still the head coach of the Badgers there was a story we read about how Bielema liked to drive around in his SUV on Gameday Saturdays in Madison before the games to see what all the Wisconsin fans were up to with most of those fans not knowing it was the UW head coach in that SUV. When reading that story we just laughed at it because it was classic Bret Bielema and in our minds not knowing about any potential issues that were going on between Wisconsin AD Barry Alvarez and Bret Bielema we always thought that Bret was a good “fit” at Wisconsin and that he would be there until he got his ass fired or he retired.

As you can imagine with the above in mind everyone at Coaches Hot Seat was shocked when in early December 2012 it was announced that Bret Bielema was leaving Wisconsin for the Arkansas head coaching job which made no sense on many levels and like a lot of other people made us think that Barry Alvarez must be one Helluva asshole to work for and if the media reports are true Cheap As Hell when it comes to paying Wisconsin assistant coaches since after all…Not A Damn Dime of the money that Barry Alvarez pays Wisconsin Athletic Department employees with is Barry’s money! Whatever the issues were between Alvarez and Bielema it blew-up a pretty good arrangement for the both of them which later happened again with Alvarez and current Oregon State head coach Gary Andersen who also must be a Real American Man and doesn’t like being led around by the nose from a former football coach who doesn’t seem to know that Real Leaders hire people to do jobs and they…

Let Them Do Their Job!

Leaving Barry Alvarez aside for the moment who in our opinion is a Pompous Arrogant Ass that believes he spun up the entire universe and thus everyone should kiss Barry’s Precious Big Ass….Sorry Barry but your are not God Son and hopefully one day the Lord himself will let you know that personally….let’s get back to Bret Bielema at Arkansas which on so many levels for both Arkansas and Bielema made just no Damn sense and we write that because early on a long-time friend + Arkansas-alum called us in Bielema’s first year at Arkansas in the Fall of 2013 and said something like (paraphrasing since it was so long ago):

“It’s just not going to work with Bielema. He just doesn’t get Arkansas…the people…the culture…nor the football…but it will take a long-time for some of my friends to understand that…a really long time.”

Well, it’s now Bret Bielema’s FIFTH year as the head coach at Arkansas and in his 56 th game as the head coach of the Razorbacks his team just got their ass whipped by the score of…

48 – 22

….by a decent but still average South Carolina team which leaves Bielema’s records at….

Overall:  27 – 29

SEC:  10 – 24

…but most shocking of all is Bielema’s record against Power 5 Conference Schools:

13 – 29

Damn…that’s just Damn Awful!

To put into perspective just how bad Bret Bielema has been at Arkansas one must look at his conference winning percentage against all of the previous Arkansas coaches, throwing out the Idiocy of John L. Smith who also should have NEVER been hired even as an interim head coach at Arkansas by AD Jeff Long, and when you look at those numbers it is very Damn ugly indeed:

Arkansas Head Football Coaches Conference Winning % – 1950 – 2017

Bret Bielema – .294

Bobby Petrino – .531

Houston Nutt – .525

Danny Ford – .402

Joe Kines – .438

Jack Crowe – .375

Ken Hatfield – .783

Lou Holtz – .670

Frank Broyles – .714

Jack Mitchell – .472

Bowden Wyatt – .583

Otis Douglas – .222

That’s right…you have to go back to the years 1950 – 1952 and Arkansas head coach Otis Douglas to find a worse conference record than the one that Bret Bielema has put up over the past FIVE seasons at Arkansas and for those slow on the uptake that is…

11 Arkansas Head Coaches Ago

AND

Bret Bielema just hasn’t been bad at Arkansas…he more importantly has been bad relative to Arkansas football history in the Post World War II era when .500+ football in conference and against serious opponents such as the Power 5 Conference Teams today was not only expected but was achieved by the head coaches at Arkansas which makes one wonder….

Will Arkansas AD Jeff Long let Bret Bielema destroy Arkansas Football on the sword of Jeff Long’s massive ego or will Jeff Long do something we have never heard Jeff do…

Admit he was wrong?

How exactly did Bret Bielema get his current contract which pays $4+ Million Dollars a year and includes a $15+ Million Dollar Buyout you ask?

Jeff Long gave that HUGE contract and buyout to Bret Bielema after the 2014 season when Arkansas went…wait for it…

7 – 6!

That sound you hear is us Laughing Out Loud with the everyone else with an IQ over Johnny Manziel’s jersey number at Texas A&M = 2!

With the loss to South Carolina the Razorbacks are now 2 – 3 on the season and 0 – 2 in SEC play and they have left on the schedule this…

At Alabama
Auburn
At Ole Miss
Coastal Carolina
At LSU
Mississippi State
Missouri

Any chance Arkansas wins 4 of their last 7 games to get to .500….which is Pitiful Football in our opinion at Arkansas which Bobby Petrino proved just a few years ago?

Not A Chance in Hell…in our humble opinion and if Arkansas doesn’t get to 6 wins in Bielema’s FIFTH year on the job $15M+ buyout or not Bret Bielema and Jeff Long are going to get a call sometime in late November or early December telling them they need to come to a meeting that some very busy folks will be attending and wanting to know just what the Hell is wrong with you two Damn Morons who have gutted and destroyed Arkansas Football followed by both of them being told to get the personal stuff in their offices together because their services were no longer needed at the University of Arkansas!

2.  Butch Jones, Tennessee – The best news about last week for Butch Jones was that his Vols had the week off so they couldn’t lose a football game and Jones didn’t say anything stupid which is a miracle of sorts considering all the Stupid Shit that Butch Jones has said in the last few years in Knoxville!

Much like Bret Bielema…Butch Jones has a record problem at Tennessee with the Vols records over the five seasons under Jones at…

Overall:  33 – 23

SEC:  14 – 20

….and in the all-important record against Power 5 Conference Schools Jones’ record is…

18 – 23

Those are much better records than Bret Bielema which are nothing short of a Total Damn Disaster….but come now…we are talking about University of Tennessee Football here where a .500+ records in…

SEC and against Power 5 Conference Schools

….is not only expected it better Damn be achieved and thus now you know why Butch Jones is on the Hot Seat especially when you consider all the Stupid Shit Jones has said in the last few years in Knoxville!

The word on Butch Jones that a Coaches Hot Seat member is getting from his kind-of-related family members who live in East Tennessee and are UT-alums is that Butch Jones can save his job with the Vols IF….he wins ALL his remaining games save Alabama and with that in mind let’s go to what’s left on Tennessee’s schedule:

South Carolina
At Alabama
At Kentucky
Southern Miss
At Missouri
LSU
Vanderbilt

Hell….most Tennessee Football teams could easily go 6 – 1 in the 7 above remaining football games but this is the 2017 version of the Vols is NOT most Tennessee Football Teams (Hell..they QUIT against Georgia!) and we would say the chance of the Vols finishing 9 – 3 in 2017 is around the same odds that a Coaches Hot Seat member will sleep with one of Sports Illustrated swimsuit models in 2017 which has odds now set at….

ZILCHO!

Of course….we will not discount the chance that Butch Jones might have his agent Jimmy Sexton beating the bushes for another head football coaching job in college football right now and we can only imagine Sexton looking down the Coaches Hot Seat Rankings and saying something like…

“Hmmmm…I might be able to get Butch out of Tennessee and into “X” job before his ass gets fired in Knoxville!”

Maybe Jimmy…Maybe So Son!

Coach Hard against South Carolina Butch Jones….another potential employer might be watching!

3.  Todd Graham, Arizona State – Arizona State had an bye in Week 6 after their loss to Stanford in Week 7 and now it’s back to football and here come the Smoking Hot Washington Huskies into Tempe to play the Sun Devils and Chris Petersen really has things rolling at UW where in the Huskies last 23 games Washington is…

21 – 2!

Damn…just when Todd Graham really needs a win to get his 2 – 3 Arizona State football team going he has to play Washington and then go to Salt Lake City in Week 7 to play Utah followed by USC in the desert!

Hell…Arizona State could be 2 – 6 in just a few weeks and Todd Graham out of a job so coach hard Todd because these next few games may be your last chance to be a head coach at a FBS school for a few years at least which is what this is really all about…it’s not about the money…it’s performing at a high enough level so that you have…

Earned the Right to be a Head Coach on the FBS level….PERIOD!

4.  David Beaty, Kansas – Kansas got its ass whipped by Texas Tech on Saturday by the score of 65 – 19 and that’s becoming a common theme for the Jayhawks….

Getting Its Ass Whipped

….under head coach David Beaty who now has record at KU of…

Overall:  3 – 26

Big 12:  1 – 19

Oh…they must give thanks for Charlie Strong in Lawrence, Kansas because without that Pitiful Texas team that Charlie brought to Lawrence last year the Jayhawks would have ZERO Big 12 Conference wins under David Beaty the last THREE seasons!

Three seasons ago in 2014 Charlie Weis got fired about this time of the year and at the time when Chubby Charlie got canned by Kansas when in reality his Sorry Ass NEVER should have been hired by KU Chubby Charlie’s overall record was….

6 – 22

…and David Beaty’s overall record right now is…

3 – 26

That sound you hear is Coaches Hot Seat laughing out freaking LOUD!

Geez…what a Damn mess but the upside is that more than likely when Kansas runs David Beaty…and even KU will run David Beaty with the above records…no doubt the folks in Lawrence will make another…

Totally Damn Stupid Hire and that coach will shortly thereafter find his ass on the Hot Seat and…the Stupid Ass Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round All the Damn Time at Kansas!

5.  Barry Odom, Missouri – Missouri put a good fight against Mark Stoops Kentucky team which is an amazing bunch in so many ways in that they will play as Good or Bad as they team they are facing which says a lot about Mark Stoops inability to get his team ready and focused on gameday which will leave for another day and focus on Barry Odom who in his SECOND season as the head coach at Mizzou has now posted records of…

Overall:  5 – 12

SEC:  2 – 9

…and the 1 – 4 Tigers still have to play this season:

At Georgia
Idaho
At UConn
Florida
Tennessee
At Vanderbilt
At Arkansas

Our guess Missouri wins 2…maybe 3….of its remaining 7 games which if it’s 3 more games that would be two straight years of…

4 – 8

…records under Odom which is Bad….Oh It’s Damn Bad….and it’s up to Barry Odom to make it Good…Damn Good Son or your ass will be run…and should be run…right out of Columbia!

6.  Mike Riley, Nebraska – As they say about today’s world “things change fast” and they even change fast in Nebraska because after the Nebraska loss at home to Wisconsin on Saturday we called a few of our Husker-alum friends on Sunday and to a person they all said very close to the following:

“Unless Mike Riley beats Ohio State at home next Saturday it’s over for Mike and Scott Frost will be the next head coach at Nebraska.”

If Nebraska can get current UCF head coach Scott Frost that is who we hear is now Very Damn High on several Athletic Directors lists for a new head football coach which means that Nebraska probably has the inside lane to get Frost as their next head coach if Mike Riley is fired BUT Frost may have a choice of several plum jobs in a month or so BUT there is probably not a job that fits Frost as well or where Frost can win a lot of games in the Big Ten West Division like the Nebraska job!

As for Mike Riley if Nebraska can win the rest of their games this season against…

Ohio State
At Purdue
Northwestern
At Minnesota
At Penn State
Iowa

…which is about as likely as a Coaches Hot Seat member sleeping with a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model in 2017 then Riley can coach the Huskers in 2018!

Coach em up Mike Riley…we will be pulling for your Huskers against Ohio State!

Just an opinion by Coaches Hot Seat on current UCF head Scott Frost.  We have been watching and following Scott Frost since he first arrived on The Farm at Stanford in 1993 to play for Bill Walsh for two seasons before transferring to Nebraska to play for Tom Osborne for his last two years in college and right now…in our humble opinion…Frost is the best college head football coach not on the Power 5 Conference Level in America and it would be a GREAT move for Nebraska or any other Power 5 Conference school that can get him as their next head football coach.

7.  Steve Addazio, Boston College – Can someone go ahead and end the misery of the Steve Addazio tenure at Boston College already and hire Chip Kelly to coach the Eagles so he can take the ACC by storm from a perch in Boston?

With the loss to Virginia Tech on Saturday Steve Addazio’s records at Boston College now stand at:

Overall:  26 – 31

ACC:  11 – 24

Please…Administration at Boston College…end this Damn Madness already because we are tired of writing about Steve Freaking Addazio and if you can get Chip Kelly at $3 Million A Year he will be worth every penny!

8.  Jim Mora, UCLA – The UCLA Bruins had a bye in Week 6 and get back to it in Week 7 with a game at now red-hat Arizona which may have found themselves a quarterback against Colorado last Saturday which is No Damn Good News for Jim Mora and his Bruins who now at 3 – 2 really have to win some ballgames or the 2017 season could fall to pieces in a hurry.

Jim Mora’s records at UCLA are….So-So…

Overall:  44 – 26

Pac-12:  26 – 22

…but after a 4 – 8 record in 2016 the last thing Mora needs is another losing season in 2016 and with these games left to play…

At Arizona
Oregon
At Washington
At Utah
Arizona State
At USC
California

…the 3 – 2 Bruins are going to have a tough time finding at least 3 more wins this season if they lose to Arizona on Saturday!

9.  Lincoln Riley, Oklahoma – Our biggest worry about Lincoln Riley taking over for Bob Stoops at Oklahoma was Riley turning the Sooners into…

Texas Tech Football North

….and it seems that more games that Riley has under his belt as the head coach of the Sooners the more that OU looks like the Red Raiders which the last two games has included….

An almost loss to ZERO wins Baylor

A home loss to MASSIVE underdog Iowa State

…and up next for what looks like to us the becoming Very Damn Soft Sooners is Texas in Dallas in the Red River Rivalry and it looks like to us that Texas is playing some pretty good football under Tom Herman and if the Longhorns beat the Sooners on Saturday Lincoln Riley will find his ass not only on a Scorching Hot Seat but in a sling as well!

Hell…how many more games can Very Damn Soft Oklahoma win in 2017 with these games remaining?

Texas – Dallas
At Kansas State
Texas Tech
At Oklahoma State
TCU
At Kansas
West Virginia

Hell…if OU plays like they did against Iowa State they will be LUCKY to win 3 more games which would add up to a…

7 – 5

…record and Lincoln Riley only one more Below Average season from having his ass run right out Norman, Oklahoma!

You better start coaching your Oklahoma Sooners football team Son or your head coaching career will be OVER before it really gets going and Oh Yea…the leash is Very Damn Short…and Should Be Short….for head coaches at OU that win less than 9 games a year!

10.  Ed Orgeron, LSU – Luckily for Ed Orgeron and LSU they got to play on Saturday…

One of the Worst Coached Offenses in America

….in the Florida Gators offense which would be a Helluva lot better if head coach Jim McElwain and offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier just gave the Gators offense some footballs at practice and Jim + Doug went to a local Gainesville bar!

With the win over Florida…LSU improves its record to 4 – 2 on the season with the below games still left on the schedule which we do note does not include offenses coached by Jim McElwain and Doug Nussmeier who are Totally Damn Worthless and are actually making the Florida Gators Offense WORSE every day that the two of them report to work at the University of Florida!

Auburn
At Ole Miss
At Alabama
Arkansas
At Tennessee
Texas A&M

Our guess as of October 9, 2017….LSU finishes with a record of…

7 – 5

…in 2017 and Ed Orgeron’s rear-end is still on one of the Hottest Seats in the country come late November!

18 CFB Head Coaches Facing MUST WIN Games in Week 3 – Take It To The Limit Coaches + Teams

Week 2 was interesting on the MUST WIN Game front with coaches under lots of the pressure going…

4 – 6

….in their MUST WIN Games which just turns up the HEAT even more on those coaches that lost, and in Week 3 there are 18 CFB Head Coaches facing MUST WIN Games and with that in mind we ask the Eagles and Randy Meisner to motivate these Coaches + Teams To Take It To the Limit to get a win in these games. Bring It Randy!

Thanks Randy!

Rich Rodriguez, Arizona vs. UTEP – Going back to the loss to Washington State at home in 2015 in Arizona’s last 20 games Rich Rodriguez has posted a record of…

6 – 14

…which his nothing short of a Complete Freaking Disaster for Arizona Football and thus after a home loss to Houston there is just No Damn Way Rodriguez and his Wildcats can lose to UTEP in El Paso on Friday night. If Rodriguez did lose this game to an UTEP coach in Sean Kugler who is also on the Hot Seat and has posted a record of 18 – 33 in four-plus seasons on the job then RichRod might as well call the movers on the way back to Tucson because it’s….

….time in the desert!

Mark Whipple, UMass vs. Temple – In the last four seasons Mark Whipple has posted a record at UMass of…

8 – 31

…and one would think sooner or later one would have to start winning some football games to keep your job…even at UMass…right?

Yep…Temple is a MUST WIN Game for Mark Whipple and the Minuteman but we don’t give them much of a chance to win this MUST WIN Game!

Scottie Montgomery, East Carolina vs. Virginia Tech – Scottie Montgomery’s East Carolina football team is in a mini-meltdown with the defensive coordinator being let go and Montgomery off to an 0 – 2 start in 2017 after posting a 3 – 9 record last season and now here comes Virginia Tech showing up in Week 3 in a MUST WIN Game spot is far from optimal, but with a game against USF on deck beating the Hokies is a MUST WIN because a loss here and the Pirates might not win a game in 2017!

Coach against Virginia Tech like your job is on the line Scottie Montgomery…because it is!

David Shaw, Stanford vs. San Diego State – A few Coaches Hot Seat members were at the LA Coliseum for the Stanford – USC game last Saturday and it was apparent in the pregame that the Trojans were JACKED to play the Cardinal and that it was going to take 40+ points to beat USC which Stanford didn’t have in them even if David Shaw had coached the game to score 40+ points…which he didn’t!

Now here come a road game at San Diego State which just beat Arizona State in Tempe and this is truly a cross-roads game for Stanford in 2017 because a loss to the Aztecs means that EVERY team left on the Cardinal schedule can beat Stanford but a win in this spot to improve to 2 – 1 with UCLA and Arizona State at home on The Farm up next Stanford will have a chance to get things rolling in 2017…but first they MUST BEAT San Diego State in what is a MUST WIN Game for David Shaw and his football team.

Be ready a battle boys and if you are not ready to fight…just stay in northern California because the Aztecs will whip and embarrass your asses for all the country to see!

Gary Andersen, Oregon State vs. Washington State – We consider Oregon State to be a school that in today’s world where there are several strong teams in the Pac-12 North Division as a place where a solid head coach will win 6 to 7 games a year and take the Beavers to a bowl game every season. In 14 seasons as the head coach at Oregon State Mike Riley posted a record of…

93 – 80

…and took the Beavers to a postseason bowl game in…

8 of the 14 seasons

…so in our opinion Mike Riley fell short of what Oregon State Football should be especially considering that the Pac-12 North division is a lot tougher division today than it was in the past.

Gary Andersen is a solid football coach but he will have to recruit and coach at a high level to get Oregon State to 6+ wins year in and year out and after a 1 – 1 start that includes getting blasted by Colorado State and barely beating Portland State this Saturday’s match-up with Washington State is a MUST WIN Game with the following games on deck…

Washington
At USC
Colorado
Stanford

Yep…beating the Cougs is a MUST WIN Game for Gary Andersen and the Beavers!

Butch Jones, Tennessee vs. Florida – Butch Jones is a Tennessee player from not making a hustle play in the 4 th quarter against Georgia Tech to cause a fumble giving the Vols the chance to win in overtime and start the 2017 season at 2 – 0 instead of 1 – 1 after a win over Cupcake Indiana State and now the actual season begins for Tennessee with a MUST WIN Game at The Swamp against Florida on Saturday.

If Tennessee did lose to the Gators on Saturday Butch Jones record in SEC Conference play in his last 7 SEC games would drop to…

2 – 5

….and Jones would find his ass heating up again with the 4 following games coming right at the Vols:

Georgia
South Carolina
At Alabama
At Kentucky

Yep….we recommend Butch Jones and Tennessee find a way to beat Florida on Saturday or back up the Hot Seat Rankings Butch Jones will climb!

Jim McElwain, Florida vs. Tennessee – In two-plus seasons at Florida Jim McElwain has posted impressive records of…

Overall: 19 – 9

SEC: 13 – 3

….but this is FLORIDA Football we are talking about here where any coach should be able to drop a few footballs by the practice field and the Gators would win 8+ games a season if the coaches have recruited at all and thus we are going to hold Jim McElwain and ANY Florida Football coach to a very high standard.

The problem for Jim McElwain and Florida after the opening season debacle game against Michigan which exposed a Gators offense that can be easily shutdown is that a loss in this spot to the Vols to drop to 0 – 2 with these games coming up….

Vanderbilt
LSU
Texas A&M
Georgia (Jacksonville)
At Missouri
At South Carolina
UAB
Florida State

….it’s not hard to imagine Florida not getting 6 wins in 2017 with the Northern Colorado game being cancelled and if Jim McElwain doesn’t win 6 games this season he will need to win 10+ games in 2018 or his ass will be sent packing out of Gainesville!

Jim Mora, UCLA vs. Memphis – Most people don’t realize how important..make that VITAL….it was for Jim Mora and UCLA to come back and beat Texas A&M in their opening game because after dispatching Hawaii in Week 2 the schedule gets a lot tougher beginning with a game…

At Memphis

….on Saturday and if the Bruins did lose to Memphis with these games still on the schedule…

At Stanford
Colorado
At Arizona
Oregon
At Washington
At Utah
Arizona State
At USC
Cal

…there’s a decent chance UCLA doesn’t win 6 games in 2017 and BIG buyout or not Jim Mora would probably find his ass out of a job come December after two straight losing seasons in Westwood!

David Beaty, Kansas vs. Ohio – Kansas Football or not we would like to think that a head coach of the Kansas Jayhawks football team could in his…

26 th Game

…as a head coach take his Big 12 Conference Football Team to Athens, Ohio and beat a MAC Conference Ohio University Football Team…right?

Damn Right is the answer to that question!

There just is NO Legitimate Excuse for Kansas Football to lose this game to Ohio on Saturday and thus this is a MUST WIN Game for David Beaty and his football team with these Big 12 games left on the schedule:

West Virginia
Texas Tech
At Iowa State
At TCU
Kansas State
Baylor
At Texas
Oklahoma
At Oklahoma State

Damn….if Kansas loses to Ohio…in our opinion…the Jayhawks will not win another game in 2017 to finish the season at….

1 – 11

…with only a win over SE Missouri State.

Coach em hard David Beaty!

Bronco Mendenhall, Virginia vs. UConn – The Bronco Mendenhall experiment at Virginia which is as much about Bronco not being at BYU as being at Virginia is off to a rough start with a record of….

3 – 11

…on the board two games into his second season at Charlottesville and we are fascinated to see how this all plays out. Bronco Mendenhall is a very good football coach, but he also is a man who like Mitt Romney, who a few of us have run into many times over the years, someone that carries his religion with him to such an extent it dominates his life as much at Catholicism dominated the lives of past head coaches at Notre Dame. We have many Mormon friends in the state of Utah who we visit for at least a week every Summer which includes lots of outdoor activities and sporting contests and we fight like brothers with them to win everything from golf to ping-pong all day long and then at night they go home and we go out to get a few beers at the bars on main street in Park City. We love our Mormon friends because they are not merely “Good People”…they are…”Great People” who are the kind of folks you could always count on if you were ever in trouble and Bronco Mendenhall is cut from the same mold as our friends in Utah, and that’s why it is so fascinating to us to see if Mendenhall can succeed outside of the cocoon that he lived in at BYU…and like it or not BYU is a cocoon…that is somewhat separate from much of American life such as how life is lived in Charlottesville, Virginia.

We are pulling hard for Bronco Mendenhall to succeed at Virginia but after getting beat by Indiana at home last Saturday to drop to 1 – 1 on the season this week’s game at home against UConn is a MUST WIN Game because of what is left on the Cavs schedule:

At Boise State
Duke
At North Carolina
Boston College
At Pitt
Georgia Tech
At Louisville
At Miami
Virginia Tech

With a loss to UConn on Saturday we don’t think Virginia will have any chance at all to get to 6 wins in 2017 with the above schedule so with that mind…

Give the UConn Huskies Heck Bronco!

Mike Riley, Nebraska vs. Northern Illinois – Mike Riley is now in his 3 rd season at Nebraska and he has coached 28 games and posted an overall record of…

16 – 12 (.571)

Below are the records after 28 games of the Nebraska head coaches after Tom Osborne:

Frank Solich: 23 – 5 (.821)

Bill Callahan: 17 – 11 (.607)

Bo Pelini: 20 – 8 (.714)

As anyone can clearly see Mike Riley is 4 th in winning percentage…

Frank Solich:  .821
Bo Pelini:  .714
Bill Callahan:  .607
Mike Riley:  .571

….in the head coaches following the Great Tom Osborne at Nebraska and Riley knows that if he continues along the current path his tenure in Lincoln will not be long.

The thing about coaching at Nebraska is the head coach feels the pressure of the job but he has a hard time finding where that pressure is coming from since the folks in the state of Nebraska are so nice and disarming and just downright decent, but we can tell Mike Riley that after having friends in the Omaha area for over two decades that are Nebraska-alums Riley’s performance to date is something that is discussed on a regular basis and if Riley doesn’t get things going with the Cornhuskers soon…Mike Riley and Nebraska AD Shawn Eichorst will find out who is in charge of things and who can send both of them packing!

After an 1 – 1 start to the season and a decent showing against the Oregon Ducks in Eugene Mike Riley and the Cornhuskers host Northern Illinois in Lincoln on Saturday in the Biggest MUST WIN Game of Riley’s tenure at Nebraska because if the Huskers lose this game at home to Northern Illinois things would heat up in a Helluva hurry on the Great Plains of America!

Oh here is what Nebraska has left after Northern Illinois:

Rutgers
At Illinois
Wisconsin
Ohio State
At Purdue
Northwestern
At Minnesota
At Penn State
Iowa

We have it on good authority that Nebraska fans are expecting 10+ wins in Mike Riley’s third season coaching the Cornhuskers and if you lose to Northern Illinois not only is 10+ wins out the window…..Hell there’s a good chance Nebraska has a hard time winning 8 games if you can’t beat the NIU Huskies at home!

Kevin Sumlin, Texas A&M vs. Louisiana – We don’t give the 23 point underdogs Louisiana much chance to beat Texas A&M on Saturday but if somehow the Ragin’ Cajuns did beat the Aggies at Kyle Field we feel confident in saying that Kevin Sumlin would be fired right after the game because if you can’t beat Louisiana in College Station in Week 2 there’s not a Damn chance in Hell you are going to beat Arkansas in Dallas in Week 3.

Yes…Louisiana is a MUST WIN Game for Kevin Sumlin and Texas A&M but it so unimaginable that the Aggies could lose this game that we should probably call this a….

You Better Damn Win Or Your Ass Will Be Fired Game for Kevin Sumlin!

Brian Kelly, Notre Dame vs. Boston College – As Bob Stoops proved earlier this year college football head coaches either leave of their own volition or their ass eventually gets fired and Brian Kelly at Notre Dame is now heading towards the latter category after a home loss to Georgia, an unnecessary tiff with a reporter after the game, and most important of all now sitting on a record of…

5 – 11

….in Notre Dame’s last 16 games which at a place like Notre Dame is a mark that should have already gotten Brian Kelly fired if the folks making the decisions in South Bend actually gave a Damn about Excellence and Winning!

The Notre Dame at Boston College on Saturday isn’t so much a MUST WIN Game for Brian Kelly as it is a…

Your Ass Better Not Lose It OR Your Head Coaching Career Is Good As Over

….game for Kelly because a loss in this spot to a BC team that under Steve Addazio in the last five seasons has posted an overall record of…

25 – 28

….would be beyond embarrassing and borderline….

“Why the Hell is Brian Kelly still the head coach of the Irish?”

….like moment!

An interesting number of Brian Kelly at Notre Dame over his 8 seasons at the school….the Irish have played 71 games against Power 5 Conference schools and Kelly’s record in those 71 games is…

42 – 29

….for a….

.592

….winning percentage in Power 5 Conference Games.

Is that Notre Dame Football?

Not only NO but…HELL NO!

Steve Addazio, Boston College vs. Notre Dame – As mentioned above Steve Addazio in his fifth season at Boston College and has posted an overall record of…

25 – 28

….which is Below Average at best and Addazio’s record in ACC Conference play is even worse at….

10 – 22

….and after starting the season with a win over Northern Illinois and BC getting its ass whipped by Wake Forest here come the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame in a match-up that is a…

Better Damn Win Game for both Coaches + Teams

…with the losing coach shooting up the Coaches Hot Seat Rankings and the winning coach leaving the game with his ass still on fire!

Great Luck to you Coaches Kelly and Addazio!

Larry Fedora, North Carolina vs. Old Dominion – After opening the season with homes losses to Cal and Louisville Larry Fedora has the North Carolina football team in a Helluva mess and his ass on the precipice of being launched onto the Hot Seat with a loss to Old Dominion on Saturday in a game that North Carolina just CANNOT LOSE forget about the entire MUST WIN Game situation for Fedora.

With Duke up next and then Georgia Tech Larry Fedora better Damn find a way to beat Old Dominion on Saturday or it will be….

Welcome to the Hot Seat Larry!

Barry Odom, Missouri vs. Purdue – Barry Odom has not exactly lit the woods on fire in his first two seasons as the head coach at Mizzou and after starting 1 – 1 in 2017 Odom has records on the board of…

Overall: 5 – 9

SEC: 2 – 7

….and the one thing that Odom does not need at this moment is a team that hasn’t been very good in recent years, think Purdue, that has a new head coach in Jeff Brohm who has the Boilermakers offense rolling and just might come into Columbia and hang 40+ points on the Tigers!

With games coming next against…

Auburn
At Kentucky
At Georgia

….before playing Idaho on October 21 the Mizzou Tigers could be….

1 – 5

….if they lost to Purdue on Saturday which would put Odom’s ass into orbiting the Sun HEAT territory so you better Damn beat Purdue Coach Odom!

Todd Graham, Arizona State vs. Texas Tech – We asked around a bit this week to our friends in the Phoenix area and the word on the street is Graham needs…

8 wins

…in 2017 to keep his job but might be able to return to coach in 2018 if Arizona State wins 7 games this season and those 7 wins include a win over Arizona. With that in mind with ASU now at 1 – 1 on the season and games left against….

At Texas Tech
Oregon
At Stanford
Washington
At Utah
USC
Colorado
At UCLA
At Oregon State
Arizona

….we don’t see any way that the Sun Devils get to 7 wins if they don’t beat Texas Tech on Saturday which = MUST WIN Game for Todd Graham and his football team!

Kliff Kingsbury, Texas Tech vs. Arizona State – In four-plus seasons as the head coach at Texas Tech Kliff Kingsbury has posted the very uninspiring records of…

Overall: 25 – 26

Big 12: 13 – 23

…which you would consider uninspiring if you give a Damn about the Red Raiders fielding a Winning Football Program which Hell…maybe the folks in Lubbock really don’t give a Damn about…but even if they do embrace being…

Totally Damn Average

…in Lubbock one would have to think that if Kingsbury doesn’t win at least 6 games in 2017 his ass is gone…right?

Who the Hell knows since Texas Football all across the Republic of Texas is So Damn Average these days!

Now at 1 – 0 on the season after beating Cupcake Eastern Washington in the opening game the Red Raiders really need to beat Arizona State at home in the second game with this schedule still remaining:

At Houston
Oklahoma State
At Kansas
At West Virginia
Iowa State
At Oklahoma
Kansas State
Baylor
TCU
At Texas

We really don’t see 6 wins on the Texas Tech schedule if they don’t beat Arizona State on Saturday so Yep…you got it…this is a MUST WIN Game for Kliff Kingsbury and the Red Raiders!

We Got The Flat-Ass Skinny on Les Miles Status at LSU When We Were in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida for The Players Championship Last Week From A Buddy of Ours From Baton Rouge and We Have Some News For Les Miles —> Either Win BIG Son Or You Are DONE Down on the Bayou!

We here at Coaches Hot Seat waited until The Players Championship which many of us attended this past week in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida to write about Les Miles in 2016 because we knew that one of our good buddies from Baton Rouge would be joining us at the beach and that we would get the…

Flat-Ass Skinny on Les Miles Status at LSU

….and as they say in the Bayou…

That Is Exactly Damn What We Got!

PonteVedraInnClub7171717

A Helluva lot has been written about Les Miles near dismissal as the head football coach at LSU last November, but let’s cut through the Bullshit and get the following down on the barrelhead:

If the state of Louisiana have had a pot to piss in Les Miles would have lost his job last November…PERIOD!

LesMiles811818

In the end it was the FACT that the state of Louisiana was flat-broke last November that save Les Miles Precious Ass and with thousands of folks in Louisiana hurting it would have looked very Damn bad to have sent Les Miles packing with a $18 Million Dollar buyout and there you have why Les Miles is still the head coach at LSU today.

As for the reasons why Les Miles should have been fired last November let’s go Joe Friday and give you a Helluva good reason why Les Miles is very Damn lucky to have a head coaching job in Baton Rouge today:

Since LSU lost to Alabama in the 2011 – 2012 Bogus BCS National Championship Game in New Orleans which encompasses the last FOUR college football seasons Les Miles has put up records of…

Overall:  37 – 14

SEC:  20 – 12

OK…those aren’t bad Overall and SEC Win/Loss records over the past FOUR seasons for Les Miles at LSU…BUT….let’s go Joe Friday again and say this time…

Just The Facts Ma’am

JoeFriday888

….because we are talking about LSU Football here where Bozo the Clown could recruit Top 10 Recruiting Classes each year and where Les Miles has averaged over the last EIGHT seasons signing the…

No. 7 Recruiting Class in American according to Rivals.com

Oh….but if you are landing Top 10 Recruiting Classes on a regular basis…as Les Miles has done at LSU…one would think that your Win/Loss records against teams with .500 or better records would be pretty Damn good…right?

RIGHT…but NOT for Les Miles folks!

Let’s bring Joe Friday in with the FACTS and as they say on the Bayou…these FACTS are not pretty!

JoeFriday888

In the last FOUR seasons Les Miles LSU Football Teams have played….

34 Games against FBS teams with .500 or better records and Les Miles’ record in those 34 games is…

19 – 15  (.559)

In the last FOUR seasons Les Miles LSU Football Teams have played…

29 Games in the SEC against teams with .500 or better records and Les Miles’ record in those 29 games is…

16 – 13  (.552)

Oh…that’s bad enough if not outright Very Damn Embarrassing for LSU Football….BUT….did we mention that Les Miles LSU Football Teams have lost…

FIVE straight games to Nick Saban and Alabama?

NickSaban818181

So here is what you have on your hands now fans of LSU football….

You have a head coach in Les Miles that not only has lost FIVE straight games to Nick Saban and Alabama but you have a head coach in Les Miles that is making over $4 Million Dollars A Year posting winning percentages against teams with .500 or better records of…

Overall against .500 or better teams = .559

SEC against .500 or better teams = .552

Uhhh…got that is A Damn Joke Les Miles and by all rights your Ass Should Have Been Run Out of Baton Rouge and WOULD have been run out of Baton Rouge last November if…

The State of Louisiana had not been Dead Damn Broke!

Now let’s get back to the….

Flat-Ass Skinny on Les Miles Status at LSU

…that our buddy from Baton Rouge gave us in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida this past week which is…

“Les Miles HAS TO beat Alabama and win the SEC West in 2016 or he will not be employed at LSU in early December.”

Well Hell…that’s about as….

Flat-Ass Skinny on Les Miles Status at LSU

…that one can get and with that mind let’s go to LSU’s 2016 Football Schedule to see if Les Miles is indeed looking at his last season down on the Bayou:

Wisconsin – Lambeau Field
Jacksonville State
Mississippi State
At Auburn
Missouri
At Florida
Southern Miss
Ole Miss
Alabama
At Arkansas
South Alabama
At Texas A&M

BozoTheClown771177

Well…Bozo the Clown or any Coonass in Louisiana…a term that Nick Saban knows well…could win…

4 Games coaching LSU in 2016

….but the question is how many games will Les Miles win in 2016 or rather the question is can Les Miles and his LSU Football Team BEAT Alabama and win the SEC West Division to save Les Miles job?

Not A Damn Chance in Hell….in our humble opinion!

How many games will Les Miles win in 2016….in our humble opinion?

7..maybe 8 Wins…for Les Miles and his LSU Football Team in 2016

LesMiles811818

And if that happens as the Great Dandy Don Meredith used to say…or rather sing….

Turn Out the Lights on Les Miles Ass on the Bayou!

It’s “Fish Or Cut Bait Time” for Will Muschamp at South Carolina…and if Muschamp Doesn’t “Get It Done” in Columbia His Head Coaching Career Will Be Over…Before He Hits the Age of 50! – Happy Birthday to the Head Ball Coach Steve Spurrier! 71 Years Young Today! – The Late Great Lewis Grizzard and An Eternal Truth…You Are Missed Lewis But NEVER Forgotten!

In the 16 or so years since Will Muschamp first ran into Nick Saban in Atlanta….which if we remember right was around 2000 at a high school football game or camp at the Georgia Dome….Muschamp has made quite a few stops including at LSU, Miami Dolphins, Auburn, Texas, the Florida head coaching job, and now the South Carolina head coaching job, and as they say in the South it’s now….

Fish or Cut Bait Time for Will Muschamp

….because if Will Muschamp doesn’t get it done at South Carolina NOW his head coaching career will be over before he hits the age of 50!

WillMuschamp1717171

What exactly does….

“Get It Done”

….mean in the context of being successful at South Carolina which in recent years has seen some success under Steve Spurrier…who by the way turns 71 years old today on April 20…so Happy Birthday to the Head Ball Coach who is now 71 years young!

SteveSpurrier181999000

In our opinion here at Coaches Hot Seat if we were hired as the athletic director at South Carolina today we would call Will Muschamp into our office and outline how we would define his time at USC as a “success” or not in the following way:

Running a clean program that did not break ANY NCAA rules

Graduating most if not all of the South Carolina football players

A .500 or plus record and bowl game trip EVERY YEAR

A Top 3 finish in the SEC East EVERY YEAR

Win the SEC East ONCE every THREE YEARS

Win the SEC Conference Championship ONCE every SEVEN YEARS

Can Will Muschamp meet the expectations as described above that Coaches Hot Seat as the AD at South Carolina has set for him going forward?

SteveSpurreirFlorida81181

Well….let’s see how Steve Spurrier would have done against the above expectations…who in our opinion is one of the Top 5 All-Time Head Coaches in SEC Football history:

YES = Running a clean program that did not break ANY NCAA rules

YES = Graduating most if not all of the South Carolina football players

9 out of 11 years so NO = A .500 or plus record and bowl game trip EVERY YEAR

6 out of 11 years so NO = A Top 3 finish in the SEC East EVERY YEAR

1 out of 11 years so NO = Win the SEC East ONCE every THREE YEARS

0 out of 11 years so NO = Win the SEC Conference Championship ONCE every SEVEN YEARS

So let’s see here…Steve Spurrier…a Top 5 All-Time Head Coach in SEC History did not meet our expectations for South Carolina football and Will Muschamp who is sitting on a head coaching record in four years at Florida of…

Overall:  28 – 21

SEC:  17 – 15

….will meet our expectations in Columbia?

Not Very Damn Likely!

Before we get to what Will Muschamp faces in the 2016 football season at South Carolina, let us first say that Muschamp does have one very Damn good thing going for him and that is…

South Carolina is in the SEC Eastern Division

….which is a division where even a slightly-elevated performance on a consistent basis above the norm by Tennessee, Florida, Georgia, Missouri, or South Carolina who can all get plenty of talent on campus to win lots of football games can lead to an extended run that would lead to many appearances in the SEC Championship Game as the SEC Eastern Division Champ and as Carl Spackler….Bill Murray….said in Caddyshack…..Will Muschamp has….

“That going for him…which is nice!”

Will Muschamp, South Carolina

WillMuschamp22992

1 st season at South Carolina

Overall Head Coaching Record (Florida): 28 – 21

SEC (Florida): 17 – 15

The First and Primary Question for Will Muschamp as of today is: How many games does Will Muschamp need to win at South Carolina in 2016 to get his ass off the Hot Seat and to build some momentum for the future in Columbia?

Let’s go to South Carolina’s 2016 schedule to answer that question:

At Vanderbilt
At Mississippi State
East Carolina
At Kentucky
Texas A&M
Georgia
UMass
Tennessee
Missouri
At Florida
Western Carolina
At Clemson

BozoTheClown771177

OK….Bozo the Clown or ANY Damn Clown you can think of could win…

2 Football Games

….coaching South Carolina in 2016 BUT as we look at the rest of the Gamecocks schedule this coming season we are beginning to think that…

Will Muschamp will be Very Damn Lucky to coach South Carolina to 6+ wins in 2016!

With that in mind IF Will Muschamp can get SIX wins in 2016 and get the Gamecocks to a bowl game we would call that a significant achievement which would get Muschamp off the Hot Seat heading into the 2017 football season BUT if we had to guess right now how many games the Gamecocks will win in the upcoming season we would guess…

4 Wins!

Memo to Will Muschamp and South Carolina AD Ray Tanner:  If South Carolina only wins FOUR football games in 2016 BOTH of your asses will be roasting come December which we guess would lead to…

Ray Tanner being forced to resign as the AD at South Carolina before Christmas

AND

Will Muschamp entering the 2017 college football season on one of the Hottest Seats in the American Republic!

With all of the above being said we can only wish….

Good Luck to Coach Boom and South Carolina in 2016

….and remind Will Muschamp and everyone else of the wise words of the Late Great Lewis Grizzard:

LewisGrizzard1111

“Life is like a dogsled race. If you ain’t the lead dog, the scenery never changes.”

Beware the Ides of April at Coaches Hot Seat After A Bloodless Coup Over the Weekend That Has Put the “Balboa Café Seven” Back In Editorial Control of Coaches Hot Seat! – The “Younger” Crowd At Coaches Hot Seat Got Their Chance…But They Are Out…and For Some Damn Good Reasons It Seems…And With That Let’s Get To the College Football Head Coaches on the Hot Seat Starting With #1 = Texas A&M Head Coach Kevin Sumlin! – Oh…It’s Good To Have the “Balboa Café Seven” Back…And We Are Of Course Assuming the Coaches On the Hot Seat Don’t Like This Development One Damn Bit….But That’s Just Too Damn Bad!

It wasn’t the Ides of March, otherwise known as 15 March on the Roman calendar which historically marks the assassination of Julius Caesar in 44 BC outside the Theater of Pompey in Rome…

IdesofMarch71717

….but it was something close and is now being referred to at Coaches Hot Seat as…

Beware the Ides of April

…because over this past weekend a bloodless coup of sorts was undertaken to oust the “younger crowd” from editorial control of Coaches Hot Seat and return to power what we like to call the…

“Balboa Café Seven”

BalboaCafe818181

….in reference to the original seven Mercury astronauts and the original seven members of Coaches Hot Seat, the “Balboa Café Seven”, that hatched the idea behind Coaches Hot Seat at the Balboa Café in the Marina District of San Francisco in the Fall of 2006 in an effort to push the ouster of then Stanford head football coach Walt Harris! Of course, Jim Harbaugh followed Walt Harris as the Stanford head football coach and the last NINE years is some amazing history for Cardinal Football, and we here at Coaches Hot Seat have had a Helluva fun time too!

StanfordFootballStad181881

As anyone that has followed and read Coaches Hot Seat over the past NINE college football seasons the general approach here has been to…

Light-Up the Asses of Coaches on the Hot Seat

….and let the coaching bodies fall where they may and for Damn sure….

There have been a Helluva lot of Head Coaches bodies fall over the past NINE college football seasons!

A chair on fire... metaphor "In The Hot Seat"

After a mini-rebellion of sorts the “Balboa Café Seven” now have their hands back on the editorial wheel at Coaches Hot Seat after a clear majority of the 147 members at Coaches Hot Seat decided to go ahead with the coup, which was bloodless, but not without a lot of crying, moaning, and begging by the “younger” crowd to give them another chance to make things right….Sorry….you had your chance boys but now step-aside because we have a Helluva lot of work to do before the 2016 College Football Season kicks-off!

What were the primary reasons for ousting the “younger” crowd at Coaches Hot Seat that had the editorial wheel of the website for less than a year now you ask?

To put it simply many at Coaches Hot Seat felt that the “younger” crowd at Coaches Hot Seat was…

Too Damn Easy on the Head Coaches

Too Damn Easy on the Athletic Directors

Too Damn Easy on the Clowns behind the College Football Playoff

Too Damn Easy on the Bastards at the NCAA

Too Damn Easy on the Bastards running the Bowl Games

Too Damn Easy on the Bastards in the Media

Bottom-Line: The majority of Coaches Hot Seat felt that the “younger” crowd which took over running the day-to-day operations of Coaches Hot Seat last Summer were just flat-out…

Too Damn Easy on Everyone!

….which has led to the “Balboa Café Seven” being put back in charge and now back on the job and needless to say they have a Helluva lot to say and why the Hell not get this ship righted right Damn now by getting back in the Damn saddle and get at the….

Current College Football Head on the Coaches Hot Seat Rankings

…..starting with the #1 spot and working our way down…and what head coach now sits in the #1 Hot Seat on the Coaches Hot Seat Rankings you ask?

Why Texas A&M Head Coach Kevin Sumlin!

Kevin Sumlin, Texas A&M

KevinSumlin1818181

5 th season at Texas A&M in 2016

Overall Record:  36 – 16

SEC:  17 – 15

KyleField8181818

Anyone that has read the Coaches Hot Seat Blog in recent years knows our affection for all-things Texas A&M and that is reason #1 and the best Damn reason why we are just…

NOT Going To Tolerate Mediocrity at Texas A&M

…and Kevin Sumlin Son….in your 4 th season coaching the Aggies the reality is over the past 3 seasons in SEC Conference play you are sitting on an SEC record of…

11 – 13

….and if you don’t get that changed in a Helluva hurry…even with the HUGE and Totally Damn Idiotic buyout you have at Texas A&M….the Aggies will be looking for a new head football coach come December 2016 which brings us to this critical question:

How many games MUST Kevin Sumlin win in 2016 to be employed by the Aggies when Santa Claus gets in his sleigh in late December of this year?

Well…let’s go to Texas A&M’s 2016 schedule:

UCLA
Prairie View A&M
At Auburn
Arkansas (Dallas)
At South Carolina
Tennessee
Bye Week
At Alabama
New Mexico State
At Mississippi State
Ole Miss
Texas San Antonio
LSU

BozoTheClown771177

OK….Bozo the Clown or actually ANY Damn Clown you can think of could win…

3 Games

….coaching the Aggies in 2016 so let’s start with 3 Wins and work our way through what is a pretty tough schedule for an Aggie football team with a new offensive coordinator and new quarterback under center BUT even with all the uncertainty we see No Damn Reason at all that A&M doesn’t win at least…

8 Football Games in 2016

…and post a record in SEC play of at least…

4 – 4!

Memo to Kevin Sumlin: Son…if you post less than 9 wins overall and less than 5 wins in SEC play in 2016 we would recommend you have a mover on speed-deal BUT then even 9 wins might lead to your firing AND if you lose that opening game to UCLA at Kyle Field….Oh Geez….is there something hotter than your ass sitting on the face of the Sun which is around…

1.8 Million Degrees Fahrenheit?

SunEarthOh!

Well, a supernova explosion is around 7.2 trillion degrees Fahrenheit and that is about what the temperature that Kevin Sumlin’s ass will be if the Texas A&M Fighting Aggies lose to the Very Damn Soft UCLA Bruins on September 3 in College Station!

SupernovaExplosion72771

Oh….it does feel Oh So Damn Good for the “Balboa Café Seven” to be back in control of Coaches Hot Seat!

Up next the #2 Head Coach on the Coaches Hot Seat Rankings…

Will Muschamp, South Carolina

WillMuschamp1717171

Our friends in South Carolina tell us that Will Muschamp is blowing a Helluva lot of Sunshine up the folks in Columbia asses and that he has people believing the Gamecocks are going to be a tough team to beat in Year 1 of the Muschamp-era at USC….Hmmmmmmm….seems like we have heard this song before and we ain’t talking about Louis Armstrong singing It’s A Wonderful World….

….but rather we are thinking of FLORIDA and with that in mind it might just be Cock fans calling the Operator to find out how in the Hell they can get rid of Will Muschamp before the turkey is on the table in late November!

Meanwhile if there is a song that defines Will Muschamp it has to be….

CRAZY!

WillMuschamp22992

…are we right?

Well…of course the Balboa Café Seven are right and with that blog post Coaches Hot Seat is back in business!

Impressions From Stanford – USC Game – Post Week 3 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings – 11 – 30 Hot Seat Coaches – Give These Hot Seat Coaches Hell Johnny Cash and Make Them Cry Like Babies!

LAColiseum281818

We wanted to hear from everyone that attended the Stanford – USC game on Saturday at the Coaches Hot Seat Monday Night Football get-together at the four Coaches Hot Seat Centrals last night and the consensus on Stanford football after much discussion is:

Stanford football was fired-up and ready to play USC on Saturday night and they were dead asleep when they ran onto the field against Northwestern in Week 1. No doubt, USC is an opponent that should get Stanford football players more fired-up than Northwestern, but the difference in play in the two games is striking….so striking in fact that there is now some real worry that the Cardinal will not show up on Friday night at Oregon State with the same passion and enthusiasm that they displayed against USC. Yes, that is REAL Damn worry and with a handful of Coaches Hot Seat members traveling to Corvallis for the game on Friday night there is no doubt this is a critical game for Stanford head coach David Shaw who is….

10 – 7 in his last 17 games at Stanford

AND

6 – 4 in his last 10 Pac-12 games at Stanford

NCAA Football: Wake Forest at Stanford

Here is Stanford’s remaining schedule:

At Oregon State
Arizona
UCLA
Washington
At Washington State
At Colorado
Oregon
California
Notre Dame

IF Stanford plays at or close to the same level of play and passion they played against USC there is No Damn Reason why the Cardinal loses more than…

3 Games in 2015

…but if the level of play and/or passion declines at all Stanford could easily lose 5 or more games in 2015 which would be nothing short of a…

Complete Freaking Disaster on The Farm!

With that let’s get to the….

Post Week 3 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings – 11 – 30 Hot Seat Coaches

A chair on fire... metaphor "In The Hot Seat"

Give These Hot Seat Coaches Hell Johnny Cash and Make Them Cry Like Babies!

RonCarager181818

11.  Ron Caragher, San Jose State – Ron Caragher took over a San Jose State team that had won 10 games in 2012 under Mike MacIntyre and Caragher has posted the following records now in his third season on the job:

Overall:  10 – 17

MWC:  7 – 10

Sorry Ron, the above win/loss records do not feed the Bulldog…even at San Jose State…and it’s either put-up or shut-up the rest of the 2015 season and luckily for Ron and the Spartans they have three very Damn winnable games coming up against…

Fresno State
At Auburn
At UNLV

Hell, we see no reason why San Jose State isn’t…

4 – 2

…when they play San Diego State on October 17!

Coach ‘em up Ron!

Vandye828811

12.  Derek Mason, Vanderbilt – Vanderbilt got its first win of the 2015 season for head coach Derek Mason on Saturday over Austin Peay and that runs Mason’s records to the following in his second year on the job:

Overall:  4 – 11

SEC:  0 – 9

We have been trying for weeks to get something out of one of our long-time doctor friends who got his medical degree from Vanderbilt on what Derek Mason needs to do in 2015 to return as the head coach of the Commodores next season and finally the Doc took some time from his busy schedule saving folks lives to tell us…

“Who is Derek Mason? Hell, when did James Franklin leave Vandy? Just kidding boys! Thinking Mason needs 4 wins this season and which means 2 wins in SEC play assuming Vandy beats Middle Tennessee and loses to Houston. Hey, it’s not a big goal but remember boys….this is Vandy football we are talking about here!”

So Derek Mason needs to find three more wins out of the below games to improve on his 3 – 9 record in 2014 to return as the head coach of Vandy in 2016…..Hmmmm…..

At Ole Miss
At Middle Tennessee
At South Carolina
Missouri
At Houston
At Florida
Kentucky
Texas A&M
At Tennessee

Good Luck with that Derek Mason!

ButchJones188181

13.  Butch Jones, Tennessee – For all the bluster of Butch Jones since he arrived in Knoxville in early 2013 in the wake of the Complete Freaking Disasters that were the hirings of Lane Kiffin and Derek Dooley the TRUTH is that Butch Jones has now coached 28 games at Tennessee and has posted a record of…

14 – 14

….and Derek Dooley’s record after 28 games in the books coaching the Vols was…

13 – 15

….which makes this Saturday’s game at Florida the BIGGEST game of Butch Jones coaching career because a loss in this spot and the now Run Out of Knoxville on a Rail Derek Dooley and Butch Jones will stand at the same exact spot record wise after 29 games in the books…

14 – 15!

Let’s take a look at the rest of Tennessee’s schedule with the Vols now sitting at 2 – 1:

At Florida
Arkansas
Georgia
At Alabama
At Kentucky
South Carolina
North Texas
At Missouri
Vanderbilt

In 2014 Tennessee finished the regular season at 6 – 6 and looking over the above remaining games we only see two SURE WINS…North Texas and Vanderbilt….so can Butch Jones and the Vols who threw away a great opportunity to be on an amazing roll if they had not given away the Oklahoma game find at least 6 more wins to get to 8 wins total in 2015 which we believe is the win number Butch Jones MUST hit if he doesn’t want 2015 to be considered…

A Complete and Total Failure?

Don’t know the answer to that question but Butch Jones better Damn find 6 more wins starting with a win over the Florida Gators in Gainesville on Saturday or the HEAT on Butch Jones’ ass come next Monday will rival the HEAT that was on Derek Dooley’s ass just a few years ago!

14.  Trent Miles, Georgia State – On Saturday Georgia State played the Oregon Ducks in Autzen…final score…

Oregon – 61
Georgia State – 28

…and that now runs Trent Miles win/loss records at Georgia State in his third year on the job to…

Overall:  2 – 25

Sun Belt:  1 – 15

Got a Roaring Hot Seat with a side of butter? Trent Miles does and that butter must be scolding!

15.  Paul Petrino, Idaho – Since Paul Petrino now has THREE wins in THREE seasons coaching the Idaho Vandals ANY win is a cause for celebration and on Saturday Idaho beat Wofford 41 – 38 which runs Petrino’s win/loss record at Idaho to…

3 – 23

Up next for Idaho which only beat Wofford by THREE points…

Georgia Southern

Good Luck with that Paul Petrino and Oh Yea…Your Ass Is Still On the Hot Seat even with that MIGHTY THREE point win over Wofford!

KevinWilson77-393x530

16.  Kevin Wilson, Indiana – Kevin Wilson’s Indiana team got their MUST WIN over Western Kentucky on Saturday to run the Hoosiers record to…

3 – 0

….in 2015 and now only Wake Forest stands in the way of Indiana entering Big Ten play undefeated which is against Ohio State on October 3.

Uh….Oh….this Wake Forest game is the exact kind of spot where Indiana under Kevin Wilson has faltered in the past and why Wilson needs to make sure his Hoosiers are focused as they travel down to North Carolina to take on Wake.

There is only ONE way for Kevin Wilson to get off the Hot Seat…

Get his Hoosiers to 6 wins in 2015 and a win over Wake Forest on Saturday will go a long way in accomplishing that goal!

NebraskaStadium281818

17.  Mike Riley, Nebraska – Nebraska played well enough to be 3 – 0 right now instead of 1 – 2 after close losses to BYU and Nebraska which reminds us of something one of our football coaches from a long time ago used to say when people told him that it was too bad that his team lost a close game:

“It never should have been a close game in the first place!”

We are talking about Nebraska here which hasn’t won less than NINE games since the 2007 season and with Cornhuskers now at 1 – 2 with the below games remaining how many games can Mike Riley and Nebraska win in 2015?

Southern Miss
At Illinois
Wisconsin
At Minnesota
Northwestern
At Purdue
Michigan State
At Rutgers
Iowa

Why do we think that Nebraska is going to have a tough time getting to 8 wins in 2015?

Geez….this could be a long football season in Lincoln for Mike Riley!

Waikkai28181

18.  Norm Chow, Hawaii – Hawaii beat UC Davis on Saturday night to move to 2 – 1 on the season which means about as much as the wave that just hit the beach at Waikiki and now it’s back to the REAL world for the Warriors as they travel in back-to-back weeks to play…

At Wisconsin
At Boise State

Good Luck with that Norm!

SteveSarkisian818181

19.  Steve Sarkisian, USC – The most interesting comment made by a Coaches Hot Seat member made after seeing Stanford maul USC at the LA Coliseum on Saturday night was…

“This USC team looks like Sark’s Washington teams with just more talent.”

Our problem with Pat Haden hiring Steve Sarkisian as the head coach at USC was that Sark’s teams at Washington were often just “OK” and that if Sarkisian was going to take USC back to the heights seen during the Pete Carroll era with the Trojans then “something” was going to have to be added to Sark’s coaching repertoire and so far in Sark’s second season at USC…

We just don’t see that “something” yet.

Since many of us here at Coaches Hot Seat have been watching USC football for close to 40 years now our standards for USC and thus Steve Sarkisian are Very Damn High and with the loss to Stanford the Trojans dropped to 2 – 1 on the season with these games remaining to be played:

At Arizona State
Washington
At Notre Dame
Utah
At California
Arizona
At Colorado
Oregon
UCLA

Can USC and more importantly Steve Sarkisian top their win total of EIGHT games in 2014?

Maybe….Maybe Not…which is why things are starting to heat up for Steve Sarkisian at USC who has Very Damn Little margin for error on or off the field!

RonTurner281818

20.  Ron Turner, Florida International – Ron Turner and FIU got their CUPCAKE win over NC Central on Saturday to move to 2 – 1 on the season but it’s back to Big Boy football in Week 4 with a trip to play at La. Tech which took Kansas State to overtime on Saturday.

Got 2 – 2 Ron Turner and FIU?

You are about to have it and for Damn sure Ron your ass is on the Hot Seat!
