2019 Post Week 8 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings – Give These Hot Seat Coaches Hell Johnny!

Week 8 of the College Football Season is now in the books and let’s bring out the Great Johnny Cash to speak some TRUTH to these Hot Seat Coaches!

Thank You Mr. Cash!

2019 Post Week 8 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings

1.  Joe Moorhead, Mississippi State – Before Joe Moorhead took the Penn State offensive coordinator job in 2016 he was the head coach at Fordham where Joe posted a record of >

38 – 13

That’s a pretty good record and in 2 years at Penn State as the OC the Nittany Lions posted a record of….

20 – 6

…which no doubt got him on the radar of the folks in Starkville, but we cannot help but wonder >

Did anyone at Mississippi State think something like….

This guy has spent his entire career in the Northeast and would he be good fit in Starkville?

Obviously not and from Day 1 Joe Moorhead has in our opinion looked like a fish out of H20 and a Yankee in the Deep South and Starkville, Mississippi is the Deep Deep South!

Now the folks that support Mississippi State football would be more than happy to support Ulysses S. Grant as their head football coach if he WON but with Moorhead now sitting on records of…

Overall:  11 – 9

SEC:  5 – 7

…things are getting very precarious for Fordham Joe and at 3 – 4 on the season and these games left…

At Texas A&M
At Arkansas
Alabama
Abilene Christian
Ole Miss

…if Fordham Joe loses his next 2 games then….It’s Over…PERIOD!

2.  Chad Morris, Arkansas – A number that you just shake your head and look at with Chad Morris is his overall record at SMU and Arkansas…

18 – 37

Geez….how in the Hell do you get the Arkansas job when your posted a record at SMU of 14 – 22 we will never know but the losing has continued in Fayetteville and now at 2 – 5 on the season and with these games left to play…

At Alabama
Mississippi State
Western Kentucky
At LSU
Mizzou

…that looks like MAYBE 3 or 4 wins for Arkansas in 2019 and can Chad Morris possibly survive that especially if he goes 0 – 16 in the SEC in his first two seasons?

No One Could Survive That….even Saban!

3.  Willie Taggart, Florida State – Like Chad Morris we are not really sure how Willie Taggart got the FSU job since his overall record when hired by FSU stood at….

47 – 50

…and one would think that Florida State would be hiring the Best Damn Coach they could get and does someone with a career overall record of…

47 – 50

….sound like someone that is the Best Damn Coach that FSU could get?

If you said “Yes” to that question you are a Damn Moron!

FSU is now 3 – 4 on the season after the loss to Wake Forest and have left to play in 2019….

Syracuse
Miami
At Boston College
Alabama State
At Florida

Syracuse looks Hardly Coached At All so that should be a win and Manny Diaz’s ass is now on the Hot Seat so who knows on that one and Addazio is on the Hot Seat so we have no clue on that one and Alabama State is a WIN but Florida….looks like a LOSS to us right now!

Can FSU even get to 6 wins in Taggart’s second season at FSU?

We rather doubt it and with that in mind folks in Tallahassee might want to start putting together the $17M+ to buyout Willie and chalk this one up as a lesson and for the next head coach you hire here’s a Pro Trip from the Real World >

Make Damn Sure he has at least a .500+ record you Damn Morons!

4.  Jeremy Pruitt, Tennessee – Since many at Coaches Hot Seat grew-up in 1970s and were coached hard by our high school and college football coaches and then later went into US Navy and experienced Boot Camp and/or OCS we know what it is to be…

Coached Hard and Tough

….and we also know the difference between Coaching Hard and Tough and demeaning your players in public and it’s past time…way past time…for Jeremy Pruitt to…

Quit Demeaning His Tennessee Players in Public!

There’s a reason why the following Paul “Bear” Bryant quote is up on the wall at our ad agency….

“If anything goes bad, I did it. If anything goes semi-good, we did it. If anything goes really good, then you did it. That’s all it takes to get people to win football games for you.”

..and that it is because a REAL LEADER Takes Responsibility When Things Go Wrong and Gives Credit When things Go Right and somewhere along the way growing up in Alabama and playing football at Alabama Jeremy Pruitt NEVER learned that Coach Bryant lesson and we wonder why…we really wonder why?

Whatever goes though Jeremy Pruitt’s head on a day-to-day basis we haven’t a clue you Are What You Are and Pruitt is now sitting on records of…

Overall:  7 – 12

SEC:  3 – 9

…..and the 2 – 5 Vols still have to play this season games against…

South Carolina
UAB
At Kentucky
At Mizzou
Vanderbilt

That looks like 4 or 5 wins to us in Jeremy Pruitt’s second year on the job and would be ONE less or SAME than in 2018 and going 4 – 8 or 5 – 7 in Year 2 really has to get the fans of Tennessee Football fired-up heading into 2020 as does that the Vols are now 23rd in the 2020 24/7 Team Recruiting Rankings behind…

Stanford
Ole Miss
Mississippi State
South Carolina
North Carolina

You think 2020 is going to be any better for the Vols than 2019?

Why would you think that exactly?

5.  Lovie Smith, Illinois – Congrats to Lovie Smith and Illinois for beating Wisconsin on Saturday and with that win Lovie’s record against FBS teams with .500 or better records in 4 seasons with the Illini moves to….wait for it…

2 – 25

…which really speaks to how much that Wisconsin was a…

Total No-Show Against Illinois

…and has anyone heard Paul Chryst raise his voice at all over how the Badgers played in that game which looked like about 50% effort to us?

No…Chryst is quieter than a mouse which is odd….So Damn Odd!

Lovie Smith’s record at Illinois now stand at…

Overall:  12 – 31

Big Ten:  5 – 26

…and the 3 – 4 Illini still have games against this season…

At Purdue
Rutgers
At Michigan State
At Iowa
Northwestern

Damn….Purdue has looked awful most of 2019 and Rutgers is a Total Joke and Michigan State is falling to pieces right now under Dantonio and Iowa…well Iowa should beat Illinois but who knows with Ferentz since Hawkeyes come out flat 3 or 4 games a year and then there is Northwestern which is basically Totally Un-Coached right now which means…

Illinois could win 2 or 3 more games!

Got Contract Extension for Lovie Smith if he gets to…wait for it…5 wins in his 4th year on the job?

Hell Yes!

6.  Clay Helton, USC – It’s going to be fascinating to see what Clay Helton and the USC Trojans now sitting on a record of 4 – 3 do in these remaining games…

At Colorado
Oregon
At Arizona State
At California
UCLA

…which looks like 2 or 3 more wins to us which Best Case Scenario =…

7 – 5

…in Clay Helton’s fourth full year at USC and now you know why Helton is about to get run out of Los Angeles where you don’t go 7 – 5 in your fourth year on the job at USC!

Interesting number is last 2 seasons Helton is sitting on overall record of….

9 – 10

….which is Bad….Very Damn Bad when you are at USC!

7.  Chip Kelly, UCLA – UCLA had a bye in Week 8 after whipping hapless Stanford in a Thursday night game and now the 2 – 5 Bruins have left in 2019 to play…

Arizona State
Colorado
At Utah
At USC
California

What will UCLA’s final record be?

Our guess….4 – 8 or maybe 5 – 7 and either of those records might keep Chip Kelly employed in Westwood because UCLA Football has sunk to such a depth now just getting a few wins on the board = Winning!

We would love to see Chip Kelly get things rolling at UCLA and that means only one thing….beating Arizona State on Saturday because you gotta Roll before you Get Rolling!

8.  Manny Diaz, Miami – Our expectations for Miami in this Age of Mediocre Expectations for Miami is 8 wins a season and if you are trending below that 8-win line then your ass will be headed to the Hot Seat and that’s where Manny Diaz finds himself with a 3 – 4 record now on the board with these games left to play…

At Pitt
At Florida State
Louisville
At Florida International
At Duke

Damn…..that looks like a 5 – 7 record at BEST to us and when you go 5 – 7 at Miami…

Welcome Your Ass to the Hot Seat Manny!

9.  Will Muschamp, South Carolina – The Gamecocks played pretty well against Florida and got a few bogus calls go against them…one notable on a Florida touchdown…and with that loss USC is 3 – 4 on the season with these games left to play in 2019…

At Tennessee
Vanderbilt
Appalachian State
At Texas A&M
Clemson

You gotta figure those last two games against Texas A&M and Clemson are losses so Muschamp gonna needs the next 3 games to be wins to get to a bowl game…wait for it…in his FOURTH year on the job!

Notable record of Muschamp’s that ain’t good…

14 – 15 now in SEC Conference Play!

Damn….don’t lose to Tennessee on Saturday Boom!

10.  Kalani Sitake, BYU – BYU got a great win against Boise State at home on Saturday night to move to 3 – 4 on the season and that’s The Problem…that BYU is fighting just to get to a bowl game in Sitake’s FOURTH year on the job where he now sits on an overall record of…

23 – 23!

BYU still has games in 2019 against…

At Utah State
Liberty
Idaho State
At UMass
At San Diego State

Idaho State and UMass are wins so that’s 5 wins so a least 1 win against Utah State, Liberty, and San Diego State gonna be necessary for Sitake to keep his job but is 6 wins really now the standard for BYU Football?

NUTS we say to that but then we only been watching BYU Football for 40+ years!

2019 Post Week 7 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings – Mr. Cash…We Have Some Lazy As Hell Coaches Making Millions….Give These Hot Seat Coaches Hell!

It’s hard to believe that we now have 7 weeks in the books of the 2019 College Football Season but here we are and let’s bring out the Great Johnny Cash to give these Hot Seat Coaches Hell!

Thank You Johnny!

Post Week 7 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings

1.  Lovie Smith, Illinois – There is a deeply troubling problem in college football today and that problem is Athletic Directors that listen to the agents of coaches telling that they should consider “X Coach” for “Y Job” and there is not an Athletic Director with a 2+ IQ that would possibly listen to a coach’s agent on anything beyond telling him what the school was willing to offer a coach and yet here we are….

Lovie Smith is the head football coach of the University of Illinois football team and in 4 years on the job Lovie has posted records of >

Overall:  11 – 31

Big Ten:  4 – 26

Why exactly Lovie Smith was hired as the head coach at Illinois when he spent the vast majority of his coaching career in the NFL is hard for us to fathom unless you understand this >

There are a Helluva Lot of Stupid As Hell Athletic Directors that actually listen to the agents of coaches when making coach hiring decisions.

Memo to You Stupid As Hell Athletic Directors and You Know Who You Are: YOU decide who you are going to hire as the head coach of your football program and then call the agent to set-up an interview and don’t listen to agents…agents are salesman and only want you to hire the coach and if your ass gets rolled by a coach’s agent that leads you to hiring a coach that his not remotely qualified to coach your school’s football team do you know what that makes you?

Stupid As Hell!

Getting back to Lovie Smith who was not remotely qualified to be a college head football coach the Illini are now 2 – 4 on the season after the loss to Michigan and those 2 wins are over >

Akron
UConn

What is the combined record of Akron and UConn you ask?

1 – 11

Oh…Lovie Smith wasn’t when he was hired and is not today remotely qualified to be a college head football coach…PERIOD!

At 2 – 4 the Illini have left to play in 2019 >

Wisconsin
At Purdue
Rutgers
At Michigan State
At Iowa
Northwestern

Save Rutgers and Northwestern which the Little Sisters of the Poor, Blind, and Deaf football team could beat the Illini will not win another game in 2019 and that makes the best case scenario for Lovie Smith in his 4th year on the job at Illinois >

4 – 8

Oh….Lovie Smith is not today and NEVER will be remotely qualified to be a head coach in college football….as for the NFL…we would probably give Lovie a look if we at a place had decent defensive players but in college?

Forget about it!

2.  Clay Helton, USC – We thought Georgia was a decent football team which Notre Dame gave a good game but after finding out that Georgia is coached by someone in Kirby Smart that is Lazy As Hell and is unwilling to get his football team ready to play football for a home SEC game in our humble opinion…more on Lazy As Hell Kirby Smart in a moment….maybe the Irish aren’t that great and maybe USC isn’t very good either…but then we already knew that!

Here are the Facts of Life at USC: As a new head football coach you have about 15 games to get things at USC rolling and Clay Helton starting off 12 – 3 in this first 15 games at USC in his first two full years on the job was pretty good but in Helton’s last 19 games he has now posted a record of….

8 – 11

Sorry but an 8 – 11 record in any stretch of losing games over a 5+ game stretch at USC is Totally Damn Unacceptable and when you get the USC football program rolling you either keep the USC football program rolling or you will be fired as soon as it stops rolling and USC football…is almost at a Complete Stop now!

USC is now 3 – 3 on the season and have left to play in 2019 >

Arizona
At Colorado
Oregon
At Arizona State
At California
UCLA

That looks like 2, 3, maybe 4 more wins for USC in 2019 and even 7 – 5 by the Trojans in Clay Helton’s 4th full year on the job means that USC will be looking for a new head football coach come early December but then most everyone knows that by now….don’t you?

We might consider hiring Clay Helton at another school on a lower level and maybe Clay can reinvent himself like Sonny Dykes is doing at SMU right now after getting fired at California and with that in mind Helton is conducting an interview of sorts over these last 6 games for ADs out there that will be looking to hire a coach in a couple of months!

3.  Chad Morris, Arkansas – Arkansas played a decent game against a very average Kentucky football team that has been decimated by losses to the NFL and injuries but came up short again and now Morris’ records at Arkansas stand at:

Overall:  4 – 14

SEC:  0 – 11

Geez…that’s not good but take a look at this Stunning Number >

Going back to the 2012 season when John L. Smith coached the Razorbacks the Arkansas record in SEC Conference play is…wait for it…

13 – 46

That’s right…Arkansas has won 13 SEC Conference games in the last 8 seasons for an average of…

1.33 SEC Conference Wins A Year!

Got that now Kansas AD Jeff Long was nothing short of a Total Disaster for Arkansas Football because Jeff also gets credit for hiring Bobby Petrino who we would not hire to Shovel Shit in South Georgia or even to clean the shovels for the people we might hire to Shovel Shit in South Georgia?

Yep…Jeff Long was just a Total Disaster for Arkansas Football and we don’t expect any different at Kansas!

Getting back to Chad Morris and the 2019 Arkansas Razorbacks the 2 – 4 Hogs have left in 2019 >

Auburn
Alabama
Mississippi State
Western Kentucky
At LSU
Mizzou

Mississippi State is totally imploding so that could be a Win but Western Kentucky is playing pretty good football now under Clay Helton’s brother Tyson so what….Arkansas will finish with a 3 or 4 win season maybe under Chad Morris?

Got nothing short of a Freaking Disaster in Fayetteville?

Yep!

4.  Chip Kelly, UCLA – As one UCLA alum buddy of ours described the feeling among the UCLA folks he knows about the Bruins football program >

“It feels like we have been circling a black hole for awhile now knowing that the black hole is going to suck us in and we just wish it would go ahead and crush us to atoms and get it over with because what’s going on right now is nothing short of Hell!”

That Hell looks like this with Chip Kelly’s current records at UCLA:

Overall:  4 – 14

Pac-12:  4 – 8

The good news is that the 1 – 5 Bruins play Stanford this coming Thursday night and if they can score 30+ points they just might be able to get a second win in 2019 but with these games remaining….

Stanford
Arizona State
Colorado
At Utah
At USC
California

…if the Bruins don’t beat Stanford we don’t see them winning another game this season.

Looks like the entry into that black hole could be coming soon and not a moment too soon!

We will be hosting some our UCLA buddies on The Farm this coming week on Thursday night for the Bruins – Cardinal game and it will be fascinating to see what direction things should go if things continue to fall apart in Westwood and the Stanford game will be the game that will Tell The Tale so Let’s Play Some Football on Thursday night!

5.  Joe Moorhead, Mississippi State – We were quite alarmed when we saw Kansas State totally manhandle Mississippi State earlier this year in Starkville but after losses to Auburn and now a Tennessee team that lost to Georgia State and BYU we don’t think one could find a Softer Team in America than these Bulldogs who look to us like the Ultra Charmin that you pay a couple of extra bucks for in the grocery store!

Joe Moorhead or Fordham Joe as he is known around Coaches Hot Seat because of Joe’s 4 years coaching the Rams where he posted a decent record of 38 – 13….but then the Patriot League isn’t the SEC and that’s the problem here…isn’t it?

Fordham Joe’s records at Mississippi State now stand at…

Overall:  11 – 8

SEC:  5 – 6

…and the 3 – 3 Bulldogs still have to play in 2019 games against >

LSU
At Texas A&M
At Arkansas
Alabama
Abilene Christian
Ole Miss

Of course the SEC has a Big Fat Cupcake right before the rivalry game for Mississippi State so the Bulldogs will get 4 wins and they should be able to beat Arkansas which lost to San Jose State at home but where will they get at other win to get at least…

I am Average As Hell and Bowl Eligible at 6 – 6?

We don’t know and if Fordham Joe doesn’t win 6 games in his 2nd year after taking over a Top 25 Mississippi State program from Dan Mullen then in our opinion Fordham Joe AND anyone and everyone involved in bringing him to Starkville should be FIRED!

Just our humble opinion!

6.  Kalani Sitake, BYU – BYU is such a secretive institution and our Mormon friends are not really into gossip or running down their coach to non-Mormons but we can tell you they are frustrated and a little down after BYU went to Tampa and lost to a really average South Florida team this past Saturday and now Cougs head coach Kalani Sitake’s record at BYU stands at:

Overall:  22 – 23

Not good…not good at all…and now the 2 – 4 Cougs have games left in 2019 of…

Boise State
At Utah State
Liberty
Idaho State
At UMass
At San Diego State

If you can’t beat South Florida then you are not beating Boise State and more than likely not beating Utah State…nor Liberty probably…nor San Diego State and that means that the record in 2019 is going to look like 4 – 8, or 5 – 7, or 6 – 6 and this is Kalani Sitake’s 4th year at BYU.

Not good…not good at all.

7.  Willie Taggart, Florida State – It was reported over the weekend that if Willie Taggart is fired after this season that he will be owed $17 Million-Plus Dollars by FSU and we cannot help but wonder >

Who in the Hell was interested in hiring Willie Taggart after one season at Oregon where he posted a 7 – 6 record to justify Willie getting such a lucrative contract?

The answer to that question would be NO ONE which brings us to this >

Just how Damn Stupid are the people at Florida State University to agree to such a deal?

Very Damn Stupid People is the answer to that question and that is important because FSU just got beat 45 – 14 by Clemson to fall to 3 – 3 on the season and they have games left against…

At Wake Forest
Syracuse
Miami
At Boston College
Alabama State
At Florida

Alabama State will be a win…we think…so can FSU find 2 more wins out of those remaining 5 games to at least get to…

I am Average As Hell and Bowl Eligible at 6 – 6?

If not it would be worth every penny of that $17M+ to fire Willie Taggart!

8.  Jeremy Pruitt, Tennessee – Tennessee finally got a win over an FBS team on Saturday but then that was over Mississippi State and there are at least a dozen junior college football teams that could travel to Starkville and whip the Hell out of the Mississippi State Charmin Non-Bulldogs so it’s back to Big Boy Football with these games coming up for the 2 – 4 Vols >

At Alabama
South Carolina
UAB
At Kentucky
At Mizzou
Vanderbilt

There are a few hundred high school football teams in America that could whip Vandy so that should be a win but will Tennessee win another game in 2019 besides Vandy?

Maybe…maybe they can beat South Carolina, UAB, or Kentucky….but maybe not as well and there’s the problem…

No one really knows what to make of Tennessee Football and that’s because there’s no one LEADING Tennessee Football right now….in our humble opinion!

9.  Jimbo Fisher, Texas A&M – The following comment from a Houston resident and long-time Texas A&M alum sums up the feeling of many Aggies with Jimbo Fisher 19 games into his tenure in College Station >

“We did not agree to give Jimbo $75 million dollars for him to be Kevin Sumlin-lite and right now it looks like this football program is going backwards not forwards from where it was under Sumlin.”

Hmmmm…..so Jimbo Fisher has now coached Texas A&M for 19 games and his overall record stands at…

12 – 7

And Kevin Sumlin’s record after 19 games coaching the Aggies was….

16 – 3

Please now…can someone tell us why in the Hell that Texas A&M is paying Jimbo Fisher $7.5 million dollars a year when they could hired any Stumblebum that fell of a train going thru College Station and he too also after getting a shower, a hot meal or two, and some hot coffee could have also be sitting on record after 19 games of…

12 – 7?

Oh…what about Jimbo’s record in SEC play in Aggieland >

6 – 5

And Kevin Sumlin’s record in SEC play after 11 games with the Aggies was…

8 – 3

Come now…let’s cut the Horseshit on Jimbo Fisher and start holding accountable all the folks that thought they were geniuses in bring Jimbo to College Station which it seems that some Aggies are starting to realize with our buddy also saying about Jimbo if he doesn’t get things rolling and rolling soon >

“If Jimbo cannot even hit Sumlin’s win/loss marks then we will run him right out of College Station and Jimbo’s legacy will be the total dumpster fire he left behind in Tallahassee and then getting his ass run out of Aggieland.”

The 3 – 3 Aggies now have left on their schedule games against…

At Ole Miss
Mississippi State
Texas San Antonio
South Carolina
At Georgia
At LSU

Can the Aggies even find 3 more wins this season?

Maybe…Maybe Not…but if A&M doesn’t win 6 games in 2019 then Jimbo Fisher will be given a check and 30 minutes to get his shit together and get his ass out of College Station and thus we highly recommend Jimbo beat Ole Miss in Oxford on Saturday or it’s gonna get Mighty Damn Uncomfortable in Aggieland!

Oh that $60M left on Jimbo’s contract…evidently our Aggie buddies could raise that in less than 15 minutes and Jimbo would be on his way!

10.  Kirby Smart, Georgia – We have contacts at about 50 FBS schools around America and we have a good friend that works at the University of Georgia going back to the earliest days of Mark Richt’s tenure in Athens and this fellow has passed along a lot of great info on Georgia Football over the years….and 95% of it we have never written about…at least directly….but we talked to our Athens buddy last week and he says to us…

“It feels like Kirby and the football team are just going through the motions this week not that it will matter against South Carolina. Aren’t we like 21 point favorites or something in this game?”

Yep….Georgia was a 21 point favorite at home against South Carolina and in our humble opinion…

Kirby Smart and his coaches took last week off thinking they could easily beat South Carolina and it is also our opinion that Smart had no interest in laying a beatdown on his good friend Will Muschamp and it was THAT that led to Georgia getting its ass handed to them on their homefield which means…

Kirby Smart totally failed himself, the University of Georgia, the fans of Georgia Football, and most importantly the Georgia Football team because he was a Lazy Ass last week…in our humble opinion…and didn’t properly get his team ready to play South Carolina.

Now…we just did a comparison between Kevin Sumlin and Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M so let’s look at a comparison between Mark Richt and Kirby Smart thru 48 games at Georgia >

Kirby Smart = 37 – 11

Mark Richt = 39 – 9

Hmmmm….so Mark Richt was fired to hire Kirby Smart and Smart has a worse record than Richt and more importantly…

His Lazy Ass just took a week off and he didn’t get his team ready to play a 21-point underdog in a game at home….in our humble opinion?

Yep!

What does Georgia have with Kirby Smart exactly?

To us it looks like they have a very good recruiter who makes a Helluva Lot of Gameday mistakes and Preparation mistakes and now the pressure is really about to be turned up with Georgia having perhaps the most talent in America and the 5 – 1 Bulldogs have left in 2019 >

Kentucky
Florida – Jacksonville
Missouri
At Auburn
Texas A&M
At Georgia Tech

Will Kirby Smart have Georgia ready to play Kentucky on Saturday or the games against Florida, Mizzou, Auburn, Texas A&M, at Georgia Tech?

No one knows…and that’s the problem and if Georgia does drop 1 or 2 more games down the stretch with a Massive Talent Advantage in every one of those games then someone in Athens will have to ask the question >

Why in the Hell is Kirby Smart the head football coach at Georgia?

Post Week 6 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings – Give These Hot Seat Coaches Hell Mr. Johnny Cash!

Let’s bring out the Great Johnny Cash to show these Hot Seat Coaches about the reality of life on the Hot Seat!

Thank You Mr. Cash!

Post Week 6 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings

1.  Jeremy Pruitt, Tennessee – It’s hard to underestimate the Total Disaster of a start that Jeremy Pruitt is off to at Tennessee but look at the below records of Vols Head Football Coaches going back to Bowden Wyatt in the 1950s to see just how bad things are in Knoxville right now:

After 17 Games Tennessee >

Phil Fulmer = 14 – 3
Bill Battle = 14 – 3
Bowden Wyatt = 13 – 3 – 1
Derek Dooley = 9 – 8
Doug Dickey = 8 – 6 – 3
Butch Jones = 7 – 10
Jeremy Pruitt = 6 – 11
Johnny Majors = 5 – 11 – 1

Of course, Johnny Majors played football at Tennessee and had won a National Championship at Pitt before he went back to coach at his alma mater in the mid-1970s but we haven’t talked to anyone in Knoxville that thinks >

Jeremy Pruitt has a Damn Clue what he is doing as a Head Football Coach!

With the loss to Georgia the Vols are now 1 – 4 on the season and have left to play in 2019 >

Mississippi State
At Alabama
South Carolina
UAB
At Kentucky
At Mizzou
Vanderbilt

If the Vols cannot beat Mississippi State on Saturday then they might not win another game this season including that season ending game at home against Vandy, and even if Tennessee wins 2 or 3 more games to finish at 3 – 9 or 4 – 10 does anyone think that this thing is going in the right direction in Knoxville?

No one with 2+ IQ could possibly think that!

2.  Lovie Smith, Illinois – Things just get Stupider and Stupider at Illinois and with the Illini’s loss to Minnesota on Saturday Lovie’s Smith records now stand at:

Overall:  11 – 30

Big Ten:  4 – 25

4 Big Ten Conference Wins in 4 seasons!

You just cannot make-up this Damn Stupidity and…wait for it…Lovie Smith got a contract extension in this past offseason!

Got that these are just Very Damn Stupid People in Champaign, Illinois?

Oh So Yep!

Now at 2 – 3 on the season Illinois has left to play in 2019 >

Michigan
Wisconsin
At Purdue
Rutgers
At Michigan State
At Iowa
Northwestern

Will Illinois win another game this season?

It might be able to beat Purdue and Northwestern since both teams have barely showed-up to play in 2019 but beyond that > NO!

Get ready for Lovie Smith to get another contract extension!

3.  Chad Morris, Arkansas – We are still waiting for Chad Morris to show us and everyone else that he has a Damn Clue what he is doing as a Head Football Coach and the reason for that is Morris’ head coaching records at SMU and Arkansas now stand at >

Overall:  18 – 35

Conference:  8 – 26

As Jed Clampett used to say > “Pitiful…Just Pitiful.”

Arkansas had bye in Week 6 and are now 2 – 3 with these games left on the schedule >

At Kentucky
Auburn
At Alabama
Mississippi State
Western Kentucky
At LSU
Missouri

There is a very good chance Arkansas does not win another game in 2019 and if that happens >

Arkansas will be looking for a new head football coach shortly after the Mizzou game!

4.  Chip Kelly, UCLA – Chip Kelly’s fall from his time at Oregon when Chip walked out of the Oregon Football offices with a backpack heading off to coach the Philadelphia Eagles is one of the Great Falls in American Sports History and the obvious question is > Why?

It’s just our opinion but our opinion is that Chip Kelly will only thrive in very specific environments that are somewhat closed off from the rest of the world and have small media markets = Not much spotlight on the football coaches.

New Hampshire and Oregon are just those kinds of small markets and Chip thrived in both but Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Los Angeles are Exact Damn Opposite of small spotlight markets and thus it is seems inevitable that Chip will be fired at UCLA unless things get turned around and turned soon in Westwood.

Save a miracle 2nd half against Washington State the Bruins would not have won a game this season and at 1 – 5 with that one miracle win UCLA has left in 2019 >

At Stanford
Arizona State
Colorado
At Utah
At USC
California

That game against Stanford is on Thursday night and is a MUST WIN and Stanford is very beatable since the Bruins will have a chance to outscore them, but lose to the Cardinal and we rather doubt the Bruins will win another game this season and if that happens they will be looking for a new head coach in Westwood come late November.

5.  Clay Helton, USC – Now at 3 – 2 on the season USC head coach Clay Helton has very little margin for error if he hopes to be coaching the Trojans in 2020 and here’s what’s coming up for USC >

At Notre Dame
Arizona
At Colorado
Oregon
At Arizona State
At California
UCLA

We don’t think Clay Helton can survive if he loses more than 3 games in 2019 so beating the Irish on Saturday is important but even more important will be for Helton to run the table if USC does lose to Notre Dame and the chances of that happening > Next To Zero!

Wouldn’t that be something if both USC and UCLA were looking for a new head football coach in a couple of months?

It might just happen!

6.  Will Muschamp, South Carolina – The Gamecocks had a bye in Week 6 but get back to football in Week 7 at Georgia and at 2 – 3 on the season we are wondering if there is a path to 6 wins for South Carolina this season >

At Georgia
Florida
At Tennessee
Vanderbilt
Appalachian State
At Texas A&M
Clemson

Surely South Carolina can beat Tennessee and Vandy which would make 4 wins but Appy State is TOUGH so we be surprised if Gamecocks get to 6 wins in 2019 and that would be in Will Muschamp’s….

4th Season in Columbia

That’s Not Good Will….Not Good At All!

7.  Kalani Sitake, BYU – Our expectations for BYU when the football team not playing in a conference…and BYU Athletics including football and basketball should be in the Mountain West Conference and it’s incredibly foolhardiness that the AD at BYU doesn’t take BYU back into the MWC…is that the Cougars should win…

8+ Wins A Year

Kalani Sitake’s yearly records at BYU >

2016:  9 – 4
2017:  4 – 8
2018:  7 – 6
2019:  2 – 3

Sitake has hit our expectations for BYU one time in his first 3 seasons at BYU and now 2 – 3 on the season and these games left to be played…

At South Florida
Boise State
At Utah State
Liberty
Idaho State
At UMass
At San Diego State

…we be surprised if BYU won 6 games in 2019 forget about 8!

8.  Willie Taggart, Florida State – Willie Taggart records at FSU now stand at…

Overall:  8 – 9

ACC:  5 – 6

…and since this is Florida State Football we are talking about here we are expecting a Helluva Lot More than Willie Taggart’s average wins per year as a head football coach at Western Kentucky, South Florida, Oregon, and FSU of >

5.78 Wins Per Season

With the win over NC State the Seminoles are now 3 – 2 on the season and have left in 2019 >

At Clemson
At Wake Forest
Syracuse
Miami
At Boston College
Alabama State
At Florida

Our guess is that FSU finishes at 6 – 6 or 7 – 5 in 2019 and we haven’t a clue if that will be good enough for Willie to keep his job and reality is it could go either way!

Now if FSU finishes at 5 – 7 in 2019 then Willie is DONE in Tallahassee!

9.  Justin Fuente, Virginia Tech – Virginia Tech beat a Very Average Miami team on Saturday which launched Hurricanes head coach Manny Diaz onto the Hot Seat mainly because if Canes not going to play Defense against a Pitiful Hokies Offense then there’s no reason for Diaz to be the head coach at Miami, but getting back to Fuente the Hokies now at 3 – 2 on the season have these games left to play in 2019 >

Rhode Island
North Carolina
At Notre Dame
Wake Forest
At Georgia Tech
Pitt
At Virginia

With 3 Cupcake Games of Old Dominion, Furman, and Rhode Island out of conference in 2019 we have it on good authority that if Hokies don’t win at least 6 games this season…maybe 7….Justin Fuente will be fired come late November and Should Be Fired since this is his 4th season at Virginia Tech…this is Virginia Tech Football we are talking about here after all is a place where…Bozo the Clown could win 7 games a year!

10.  Steve Addazio, Boston College – Looking at Steve Addazio’s records in 7 seasons at Boston College…

Overall:  41 – 41

ACC:  19 – 32

…we cannot help but wonder >

Why in the Hell is Steve Addazio the Head Football Coach at Boston College?

19 – 32 in ACC Conference Play = A Damn Joke at BC!

Boston College is now 3 – 3 on the season and have these games left to play in 2019 >

NC State
At Clemson
At Syracuse
Florida State
At Notre Dame
At Pitt

Can Steve Addazio survive not posting a winning record in his 7th season at BC?

NO…not in our humble opinion!

2019 Post Week 4 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings – A Pathetic Performance By Stanford Football….And A Total Disaster Ahead On The Farm – Give These Coaches Hell Johnny Cash!

Hard to believe we are already 4 weeks into the 2019 college football season but it is moving fast as usual and what a fascinating week of college football and we had a lot of movement with the Hot Seat coaches…with some moving off the Hot Seat and some finding their rear-ends Heating Up!

Just a quick note on the pathetic performance of Stanford Football against Oregon on Saturday. Before the season a former Stanford football player from decades ago actually predicted a 1 – 3 opening to the 2019 season based upon what he called…

“A pathetic Fall camp and an unacceptable offseason conditioning program.”

We will not go into how that former Stanford football player came to have the above opinion but let’s just say he has “eyes” on what’s going on at Stanford right now and there’s Helluva lot more trouble ahead with this schedule still to be played >

At Oregon State
Washington
UCLA
Arizona
At Colorado
At Washington State
California
Notre Dame

There’s a serious chance that Stanford will not win another game in 2019 and if the Cardinal plays the rest of their games like they did against USC, UCF, and Oregon they will finish with a record of…

4 – 8…at best!

It’s just our humble opinion here at Coaches Hot Seat based upon few dozen trips to Stanford campus since early August that David Shaw is basically working at about 50% capacity at what he has worked at in the past and since the head coach doesn’t seem to give a Damn whether Stanford wins any football games or not it’s not surprising to see a…

Dead Football Team
Dead Stanford Stadium
Dead Stanford Football Program

The Cardinal is Just Dead now and we would put the chances that Stanford loses to Oregon State next Saturday in Corvallis at >

70%

We will keep an eye on things on The Farm and if Stanford does lose to Oregon State rest assured with Cardinal at 1 – 4 and a Total Disaster ahead David Shaw will find his ass on the Hot Seat at a place where anything short of Full Effort + High Excellence = Your Ass Getting Run!

In our opinion David Shaw is coaching like his agent is talking to NFL teams about their head coaching jobs and that was our opinion of Brian Kelly a few years ago when Notre Dame tanked and those NFL teams which had so much interest in Kelly tuned him out after thinks went South for the Irish and that may just happen to David Shaw as well!

Let’s bring out the Great Johnny Cash to give these Hot Seat Coaches Hell!

Thank You Johnny!

2019 Post Week 4 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings

1.  Jeremy Pruitt, Tennessee – The most interesting thing to us watching Florida destroy Tennessee on Saturday is that looked to us that the Vols players really don’t have much interest in playing for Jeremy Pruitt and that’s the same feeling we got watching the Georgia State game earlier this season.

We have an opinion on why the Vols players might not want to play hard for Jeremy Pruitt and that opinion is that Pruitt is from the…

Rush Propst I am an Animal not a member of the Human Race School of Coaching

….which we got to see in person many years ago on the practice fields at Hoover High School just outside Birmingham, Alabama.

From our observation of that practice, watching Pruitt coach at Alabama, FSU, and Georgia, and talking to people that played for Jeremy Pruitt who have lots of different opinions on Pruitt it’s our opinion that >

Jeremy Pruitt doesn’t treat his players as young men put in his charge to learn how to play football, get an education, and learn how to get yourself prepared for life during college which in our opinion are the main jobs of a head football coach but rather…

Jeremy Pruitt treats his players like Total Shit and blames them when things go wrong and takes credit when things go right!

We would not play for Jeremy Pruitt and in our opinion only a Very Damn Foolish Parent would send their kids to Tennessee to play for Jeremy Pruitt…that is if you cared about and loved your kids!

When Coaches Hot Seat was started in January 2007 one of the things we observed as looked through the 100+ college head football coaches we counted around 30 coaches that were really Sorry Damn Excuses for Human Beings + Sub-Average Coaches and the coach the best exemplified that was then Notre Dame Head Coach Charlie Weis.

Charlie Weis is EVERYTHING that is wrong with Football Coaches in America…

A Sorry Damn Pompous Arrogant Ass Jerk who believes he is God’s Gift to the Earth and we were more than happy to help run Charlie Weis’ Sorry Ass out of Notre Dame and then Kansas and it’s our opinion that Jeremy Pruitt is EVERYTHING if not more than what Charlie Weis was and as long as Pruitt is the head football coach at Tennessee he in our opinion…

Poses A Clear and Present Danger to the Future Success of Tennessee Football.

And this being our humble opinion we will like with Charlie Weis do whatever we can to get Jeremy Pruitt’s Sorry Damn Ass run out of Knoxville!

Oh…in 2007 by our count there were about 30 head coaches that were really Sorry Damn Excuses for Human Beings + Sub-Average Coaches in college football and today there are…just a handful….between 5 and 10 and we keep a close eye on all them because all of them also…

Pose A Clear and Present Danger to the football programs they now coach and to the game of college football overall as well.

The Vols are now 1 – 3 on the season and still have left to play in 2019 >

Georgia
Mississippi State
At Alabama
South Carolina
UAB
At Kentucky
At Missouri
Vanderbilt

Our guess is that the Vols will finish with a 2 – 10 or 3 – 9 record in 2019 and we haven’t a clue nor care if Tennessee fires Jeremy Pruitt if he posts one of those records since the Damn Morons in Knoxville put themselves in this hole and as far as we are concerned they can just keep digging that hole deeper which will happen until the fans of Tennessee rise-up and toss all the Worthless Bastards to the curb that have put Vols football in it’s current pitiful Damn state and to the curb tossed #1 should be AD Phil Fulmer!

2.  Lovie Smith, Illinois – Illinois played a great game against Nebraska but come now Nebraska may not be much of a team and is likely to blown out of Lincoln come next Saturday by Ohio State which brings us back to Lovie Smith and his records in 4 years coaching the Illini:

Overall:  11 – 29

Big Ten:  4 – 24

Now we are talking about Illinois Football here so 4 Big Ten Conference wins in 4 seasons isn’t all that bad….this is Illinois Football we are talking about here…but let’s assume for a moment that you were an Illinois fan with a 2+ IQ that actually gave a Damn about the football program would you accept the above records posted by Lovie Smith?

Of course not and that brings us to the rest of the Illini’s 2019 schedule >

At Minnesota
Michigan
Wisconsin
At Purdue
Rutgers
At Michigan State
At Iowa
Northwestern

Now the Little Sisters of the Poor could beat Purdue, Rutgers, and Northwestern so maybe the Illini can win 3 more games to finish with a 5 – 7 record but would a 5 – 7 record be acceptable at Illinois in Lovie’s 4th year on the job or an even worse record?

Who knows…this is Illinois Football we are talking about here where last year Lovie Smith posted a 4 – 8 record and…wait for it…got a contract extension which from where we come from = You are doing a great job!

Laughing Out Loud Forever and Ever!

3.  Will Muschamp, South Carolina – After the loss to Mizzou on Saturday Will Muschamp’s records at South Carolina now stand at…

Overall:  23 – 20

SEC:  12 – 14

…which we would call About Average for South Carolina but in your 4th year on the job you should at least be able to post a 6 – 6 record and with a 1 – 3 record now and these games left…

Kentucky
At Georgia
Florida
At Tennessee
Vanderbilt
Appalachian State
At Texas A&M
Clemson

…there’s not a Chance in Hell South Carolina can win 5 of their last 8 games and in our opinion the Gamecocks would be lucky to win 4 games in 2019!

4.  Chad Morris, Arkansas – We still don’t have a clue how Chad Morris got hired at Arkansas before the 2018 season after posting a record of…

14 – 22

…in 3 years at SMU but if you are lucky enough to land an SEC Head Coaching Job you would think your ass would actually Do Your Damn Job but clearly when you let a Beyond Damn Pitiful San Jose State football team come into Fayetteville and beat your ass on your home field…

You do not deserve to continue as the head coach of the Arkansas football program…PERIOD!

Chad Morris said after the game that Arkansas got out-coached and outplayed but in our opinion…

No One Is Now Coaching the Arkansas Football Team

…based upon what we saw in that disgraceful performance against SJSU!

Chad Morris is now sitting on records at Arkansas of…

Overall:  4 – 12

SEC:  0 – 9

….and we would love to know why any Arkansas fan thinks that in Chad Morris’ 16th game at Arkansas that he cannot get his team up to play…forget about beat…but just show up and play with minimal effort against San Jose State that he will be able to do anything at all in the future?

Now at 2 – 2 on the season Arkansas has left to play in 2019…

Texas A&M – Dallas
At Kentucky
Auburn
At Alabama
Mississippi State
Western Kentucky
At LSU
Missouri

….and there’s a really Damn good chance that the Hogs don’t win another game in 2019….a Really Damn Good Chance!

Can you go 2 – 10 in your first two seasons at Arkansas and keep your job?

If you can the Arkansas Football Program no longer exists in the Real World….it’s just a place where coaches go to get paid Millions of Dollars to Not Do A Damn Thing At All!

5.  Justin Fuente, Virginia Tech – The Hokies had a bye in Week 4 and now at 2 – 1 on the season with wins over Old Dominion and Furman and a loss to Boston College, which lost to Kansas, the rest of the 2019 schedule looks like this >

Duke
At Miami
Rhode Island
North Carolina
At Notre Dame
Wake Forest
At Georgia Tech
Pitt
At Virginia

If Virginia Tech plays the rest of their schedule like they played their first 3 games they will be Damn Lucky to get to 6 wins in 2019 and does anyone really care that the Hokies will struggle to get to 6 wins in Fuente’s 4th year on the job in Blacksburg?

Not really…and there’s the problem with Virginia Tech Football…the standards have shrunk to such a Pitiful Damn Level that just winning 6 games and making a bowl game = Winning!

That’s not America….that’s a Damn Disgrace!

6.  Jim Harbaugh, Michigan – We have poked around as much as we can with folks we know in Ann Arbor to tell us what is wrong with Jim Harbaugh and we mean what is wrong with Jim personally not what is wrong with the Michigan Football program and we say that because the Jim Harbaugh we watch from afar now is not the Jim Harbaugh that showed-up in Palo Alto to coach Stanford in 2007. We have a member of Coaches Hot Seat who is a doctor and he watching Harbaugh thinks that Jim doesn’t look right physically and/or mentally but hasn’t a clue if anything is wrong, but for Damn sure this doctor who met and talked to Jim dozens of times just as many of us did when Jim is at Stanford sees the same thing we do…

Something’s not right about Jim and we haven’t a clue what it is.

As for Michigan Football after barely beating Army and getting ripped to shreds by Wisconsin the Blue Offense is such a Damn disgrace now we wonder if anyone is actually coaching the offense and if someone is just drawing plays out of a hat to call on Saturdays because to us it looks like the biggest Damn mess we have ever seen with the Blue Offense not having an Identity, a Clue, or Having Anything At All for that matter!

Michigan does have a chance to get on a roll in the next 3 games against…

Rutgers
Iowa
At Illinois

…before a trip to play Penn State on October 19 and there’s no reason Michigan doesn’t win their next 3 games…but if they play like they did against Army and Wisconsin….they could very well lose all 3 including to Rutgers this coming Saturday!

Come on Jimmy….football is supposed to be fun Son and you need to start having fun again and if there is some reason you cannot have fun go ahead and tell the world what it is because….something’s just not right here….in our humble opinion.

7.  Chip Kelly, UCLA – We are not sure what we watched in the UCLA – Washington State game late on Saturday night but it sure was entertaining to watch and now the Bruins under Chip Kelly have a chance to get something going IF they keep scoring points because we don’t see that UCLA defense slowing down anyone anytime soon.

Now at 1 – 3 on the season the Bruins have left in 2019…

At Arizona
Oregon State
At Stanford
Arizona State
Colorado
At Utah
At USC
California

..and if UCLA can score 42+ points in all of the above games they can post probably post a 6 – 6 record in 2019 but you gotta score a Helluva Lot of points to make that happen Chip!

8.  Willie Taggart, Florida State – FSU beat Louisville at home on Saturday which has a first year head coach so that’s not much when you are Florida State but now things get tough for the 2 – 2 Seminoles with these games left on the schedule >

NC State
At Clemson
At Wake Forest
Syracuse
Miami
At Boston College
Alabama State
At Florida

We see no reason at all that Florida State doesn’t win at least 4 of its remaining 8 games and if FSU does fall short of a 6 – 6 record in 2019 it’s our opinion that they will be looking for a new head football coach in Tallahassee in early December so get after it Willie!

9.  Dana Holgorsen, Houston – We are not quite sure what Houston Super Booster Tilman Fertitta thought he was getting by hiring Dana Holgorsen to be the head coach at Houston but we can guess he didn’t think Ole Dana be off to a 1 – 3 start in H-Town with one of those losses coming against Tulane!

If you look at Dana Holgorsen’s records at West Virginia…

Overall:  61 – 41

Big 12:  38 – 32

…if you take out the last year that WVU was in the Big East Conference and just look at the Big 12 years then Dana’s records in Morgantown were…

Overall:  51 – 38

Big 12:  33 – 30

Now are the above records something so impressive we would give the person who posted them a 5 year $20 million dollar contract?

Of course not but then does anyone think Tilman knows his ass from the side of a barn when it comes to the game of football?

Of course not and one of the reasons that Tilman said that Houston did hire Dana Holgorsen was that he would be committed to the school for the long-term and not be looking to take a Power 5 job like Tom Herman did which makes us wonder…

Just how long you going to be committed to Holgo there Tilman especially when the President of the University of Houston said publicly a couple of years ago we don’t so “less than 10 wins a season” at Houston?

Houston is now 1 – 3 and has left to play in 2019….

At North Texas
Cincinnati
At UConn
SMU
At UCF
Memphis
At Tulsa
Navy

…and the Cougars should be able to beat UConn, Tulsa, and Navy but the rest of those games now….Hell, Houston might not win 6 games in 2019 and we remind you Tilman that Houston just fired Major Applewhite who in his two full seasons at the school posted records of…

7 – 5
8 – 5

Surely if Houston doesn’t get to 6 wins in 2019 Ole Dana Holgorsen will get run right out of Houston $15M left on his contract or not?

Right Tilman?

Oh…get us some rolls for our table Tilman and make it quick Son!

10.  Chris Ash, Rutgers – We are not quite sure why Chris Ash is still the head football coach at Rutgers with records on the board of…

Overall:  8 – 31

Big Ten:  3 – 25

…but what the Hell we will play along and with Rutgers now 1 – 2 on the season after the loss to Boston College on Saturday and these games left to be played…

At Michigan
Maryland
At Indiana
Minnesota
Liberty
At Illinois
Ohio State
Michigan State
At Penn State

…we be STUNNED if Rutgers won another game in 2019 and would Chris Ash be fired at Rutgers if he posted a 1 – 11 record in his 4th year at Rutgers?

Who Knows and Who Cares?

No One!

And that’s the problem!

“Change Is The Law of Life” and the 8-Team College Football Playoff – Thank You Johnny Cash! – Post 2018 Regular Season Coaches Hot Seat Rankings

With the bowl season now underway and the 21 FBS Head Coaching Jobs that opened all filled we can take a look at the Post 2018 College Football Regular Season Top 10 Coaches on the Hot Seat.

We have a lot of opinions on the 21 FBS Head Coaches hired in this cycle which we believe to be….

The Worst Group of Head Coaching Hires

….in our lifetime of watching college football which goes back 40+ years to the 1970s and here at Coaches Hot Seat now encompasses the last 12 seasons since we cranked this website up in January 2007.

Before we get to those Top 10 Hot Seat Coaches we first must say that it really is too bad the Damn Fools running college football which is primarily….

The Power 5 Conference Commissioners + the Notre Dame AD

…are willing to shutdown the top teams in college football each year for 30+ days when this past Saturday – December 15 sports fans in America…think the 75%+ of the Americans that do not now watch the sport….could have watched what would be the…

Biggest Day in Sports in America Each and Every Year

….if college football had an 8-Team College Football Playoff which in 2018 would have produced the below 4 On-Campus College Football Games if the sport had the following qualifying for the CFB Postseason:

Keep the College Football Season just as it is right now including keeping all the Conference Championship Games just adding 1 Quarterfinal Round of 4 On-Campus Games on a Saturday in the middle of December

5 Power Five Conference Champs IF LESS than 3 losses (if Power Five Conference Champ has 3+ losses they will have to be selected as a Wild Card for the 8-Team Playoff)

2 Wild Card Teams (More if there is a Power Five Conference Champ with 3+ losses which may or may not be selected as a Wild Card)

1 Group of Five Conference Team IF in the Top 12 of Final Rankings

Losers of Quarterfinal Games then slotted into NYE 6 Bowl Games or other bowls if appropriate around the first of January

Here are those 4 College Football On-Campus Games for 2018 which would create the Biggest Day in Sports in America Each and Every Year which this year would have been played on Saturday – December 15:

UCF at Alabama

Washington at Clemson

Ohio State at Notre Dame

Georgia at Oklahoma

For now at least the Damn Fools still have the wheel of FBS College Football but not forever because the Meaningless Bowl Exhibition Games will not forever define and even control FBS College Football….No….that will not exist forever and the National Champion of FBS will be settled on the field of play without ceding all of December to the NFL and that will be a glorious day and it will be a True Blue American Day because in America…Real Americans settle Championships on the field!

On a more serious note the website The Athletic has written a serious of stories in the last few weeks about a growing movement within collegiate athletics to an 8-Team College Football Playoff with some of the 5 Power Five Conference Commissioners leaning towards 8 Teams and some holding onto the current 4-Team set-up because for now….it benefits them which is incredibly short-sighted and brings to mind the vision of the Late Great Mike Slive who headed-up the SEC as Commissioner for years and saw that the 4-Team Playoff….much like the 8-Team…would benefit not only college football as a whole but the SEC as well and which Mike pushed until the College Football Playoff was a reality. Beyond Mike Slive having great vision and looking ahead while not constantly worried about now but instead focusing on the future where America is always unfolding into to Mike was a Helluva guy who is terribly missed in college athletics.

In the last year of his life on Earth President John F. Kennedy in 1963 traveled to Europe and delivered one of the great speeches of his Presidency at the Assembly Hall in Frankfurt, Germany which is often overlooked because there are so many other speeches Kennedy made that evoked themes that have come to define what America has become in the Post World War II period. We often quote a line from this Kennedy speech in Germany to our friends, co-workers and anyone else that will listen to us on “Change” that is in our opinion the very definition of what has made America so great today:

“But Goethe tell us in his greatest poem that Faust lost the liberty of his soul when he said to the passing moment: “Stay, thou art so fair.” And our liberty, too, is endangered if we pause for the passing moment, if we rest on our achievements, if we resist the pace of progress. For time and the world do not stand still. Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.”

Mike Slive was born in 1940 around the same time as many of our Dads and lived through World War II and saw America become the world’s lone superpower not by looking to the past or trying to hold onto the present, but by doing what Americans have always done, by looking forward into the future. If college football is going to achieve its full potential in the life of America it needs to bring everyone in the country along so that like every other NCAA sport the Champions and Top Teams around the country that have earned the right to earn a National Championship on the field of play have that opportunity in the Postseason and that’s just what an 8-Team Playoff would do for college football.

The opportunity to make college football everything it can be in is in the hands of people that often live in the past, that look to a time that is gone and never coming back, instead of looking to the future and embracing change because after all Kennedy was right and every Real American knows it:

“Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.”

Let’s get to Top 10 Hot Seat Coaches as of middle of December 2018 with no doubt some changes coming as the bowl season unfolds and with that let’s bring out the Great Johnny Cash to give these Hot Seat Coaches Hell!

Thank You Johnny!

Post 2018 College Football Coaches Hot Seat Rankings

1.  Clay Helton, USC – The most disturbing thing about the USC football team this past year is how little the Trojans looked like the Trojans under Pete Carroll who were surging in all areas heading into Year 3 when this Trojans team under Helton looked towards the end of the 2018 season….

Undisciplined
Not In Great Shape
Confused
Out-of-Control
Almost Un-Coached at Times

….and we cannot help but wonder how USC could be getting worse under Helton the longer his tenure at the school?

Clay Helton took over the USC football program during the 2015 season from Steve Sarkisian and if one looks at the Trojans recruiting the last few seasons under both Sarkisian and Helton according to 24/7 Sports USC by all rights should have had a team playing for a National Title this season:

USC 24/7 Team Recruiting Rankings

2014 – #10
2015 – #2
2016 – #10
2017 – #4
2018 – #4

Average #6 Recruiting Class the last 5 seasons!

And yet in 2018 USC played 7 FBS teams with .500+ records and their record in those 7 games was:

1 – 6

Oh….USC also lost to a 3 – 9 UCLA team!

Consider this for a moment…USC over the past 5 seasons averaged recruiting the….

#6 Recruiting Class in America

….and the Trojans went 1 – 7 against .500+ FBS teams + the loss to UCLA in 2018!

That is nothing short of STUNNING!

This is USC Football Dammit which we have been watching both in person and on TV since the mid-1970s and we are not going to tolerate this Embarrassing Horseshit nor should USC fans and alumni!

Looking ahead to the 2019 season we haven’t a Damn Clue why Clay Helton hired Kliff Kingsbury as his offensive coordinator when Kingsbury proved he is a…

College Football Program Killer

…at Texas Tech where Kingsbury Totally Damn Failed winning an average of….

5.83 wins a season

…where Bozo the Clown could win 6 games a season!

In our opinion USC does not have the defensive depth to handle the pressure that will put on it by the offense that Kingsbury runs which wears out and eventually destroys the defenses on the teams he coaches and with that in mind let’s look at USC’s 2019 schedule:

Fresno State
Stanford
At BYU
Utah
At Washington
At Notre Dame
Arizona
At Colorado
Oregon
At Arizona State
At California
UCLA

Whatever the Hell Clay Helton has planned for 2019 it better Damn be good because there’s a decent chance the Trojans start 0 – 6 or 1 – 5 and if that happens USC will have an interim coach when Arizona comes to the LA Coliseum on October 19.

Oh…USC’s 24/7 Team Recruiting Ranking as of right now….and remember we are talking about USC Football now….is…

#28

Personally….we are pulling for Clay Helton to turn this thing around at USC but honestly we don’t think he has it in him to be the head coach at a place like USC. Some people can handle jobs like Alabama, Texas, Ohio State, Florida State…and USC…and some can’t. Let’s see if Clay can and….

Great Luck Clay!

2.  Chris Ash, Rutgers – To understand the Total Disaster that has been Chris Ash’s time as head coach at Rutgers where he has posted records of…

Overall:  7 – 29
Big Ten:  3 – 24

….you have to understand that in the two seasons that the previous Rutgers head coach, Kyle Flood, led the team the Scarlet Knights in the Big Ten Conference the Knights won…

12 Games

….that’s in 2 seasons….and in 3 seasons Chris Ash has won…

7 Games!

Oh….in Chris Ash’s THIRD season on the job his Rutgers football team put up a record of…

1 – 11!

For some reason the words of former Athletic Director at Florida Jeremy Foley are ringing in our ears right now…

“Anything that will have to be done eventually….should be done immediately!”

Eventually Chris Ash will be fired at Rutgers and he should have been fired after this season….in our humble opinion.

Let’s look at Rutgers 2019 schedule:

UMass
At Iowa
Boston College
At Michigan
Maryland
At Indiana
Minnesota
Liberty
At Illinois
Ohio State
Michigan State
At Penn State

That looks like between 1 and 3 wins to us for Rutgers in 2019 and the reality is we here at Coaches Hot Seat may care more about Rutgers football than the people running Rutgers Athletics because for Damn sure we would not tolerate this kind of losing….not for a Damn second!

3.  Randy Edsall, UConn – After the Total Disaster that was Bob Diaco as the head coach at UConn for 3 seasons when Diaco posted records of….

Overall:  11 – 26
AAC:  6 – 18

….we haven’t a Damn Clue why UConn brought back Randy Edsall after he left out the back door not even saying goodbye to his players at UConn to take the Maryland job but Edsall was brought back and the last 2 seasons he has posted records of….

Overall:  4 – 20
AAC:  2 – 14

….and still we cannot understand…

Why was Randy Edsall hired at UConn?

There’s no good answer to that question and when you look at UConn’s 2019 schedule one can see only more Total Disaster ahead!

That looks like THREE wins max to us and if UConn only wins 3 games in 2019 one has to assume the Huskies will have a new head football coach a year from today….right?

4.  Lovie Smith, Illinois – Much like Randy Edsall as UConn we haven’t a Damn Clue why Lovie Smith is the head football coach at Illinois who in 3 seasons on the job has posted records of…

Overall:  9 – 27
Big Ten:  4 – 23

….and remember now…Lovie Smith took over a .500 football program at Illinois and has turned it into…

A Complete Freaking Disaster!

Consider this STUNNING Number for a moment…

Illinois has played 22 FBS teams under Lovie Smith with .500+ records and the Illini’s records in those games is…

1 – 21!

1 of Lovie Smith’s 9 wins at Illinois is against a FBS team with a .500 or better record and even more AMAZING the Illini have lost…

6 games to teams with sub-.500 records!

Oh….the Freaking Damn Moron who is the AD at Illinois…

Josh Whitman

…just gave Lovie Smith a 2-year contract extension at $5M a season!

Geez…there are so many Stupid People working in college athletics today that cannot see what is right in front of them or as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote and was said by Sherlock Holmes which sums up a lot of college football administration today:

“There is nothing more deceptive than an obvious fact.”
Sherlock Holmes, The Boscombe Valley Mystery

5.  Gus Malzahn, Auburn – There are so many people with their hands in the pot at Auburn it’s always hard to know what’s going on across The Plains but over a decade ago we were in Auburn for a football game and a well-known Auburn alum told us over lunch at a diner in Opelika, Alabama (next door to Auburn) that (paraphrased since so long ago but this Auburn alum is still around and he would say the same thing today!)….

“What mainly drives Auburn is what’s happening at Alabama and if Alabama is doing well then that just puts that much more pressure on the head coach at Auburn. Also there are a lot of politics at Auburn that a head coach, athletic director and president at Auburn University need to understand is something that can be managed…for awhile at least…but that eventually the politics will get them unless they have the power to ignore what the folks with the money want which is not really possible.”

Translation for what’s going on at Auburn in 2018: Alabama is rolling under Nick Saban and has been for a decade now and unless the Auburn head coach is able to keep up with Bama he is going to be under pressure and make no mistake about it…

Gus Malzahn needs to win 10+ games in 2019 to be the head coach of the Auburn Tigers one year from today!

In our opinion it was a BIG mistake for Gus Malzahn to not take the Arkansas job which is not only home for Gus but it would have gotten Gus away from the pressure of coaching at Auburn when Nick Saban is across the state coaching Alabama and it would have gotten Gus to a place where 7 to 8 wins a season would have kept him off the Hot Seat.

This is Auburn Football which we have been watching play on TV and in person for 40+ years now and with the resources at Auburn there’s no reason for the school to be so far behind Alabama even if Nick Saban is in T-Town.

Consider Gus Malzahn and Nick Saban’s overall records in the last 6 seasons which is how long Gus has been at Auburn:

Last 6 Seasons

Gus Malzahn: 52 – 27

Nick Saban: 77 – 7

Also consider this….Gus Malzahn has been the head coach at Auburn for 6 seasons and he has lost…

4+ games in 5 of those 6 seasons
5+ games in 4 of those 6 seasons

Oh…Gus Malzahn is making $7 Million Dollars A Year…..losing 5 games in 2018 and in 2018 the Tigers played 8 FBS teams with .500+ records and Auburn’s record in those games was:

4 – 4

For someone being paid $7 Million Dollars A Year!

Auburn plays Purdue on Friday December 28 in the Music City Bowl and that is a Purdue team that finished the season at 6 – 6 even if they did beat Ohio State and we have some news for Gus Malzahn….

Lose to Purdue and you will replace Clay Helton on the Hottest Seat in America going into the 2019 season in the #1 Hot Seat Slot!

The good news for Gus Malzahn is that word from our Arkansas-alum buddy in Ft. Smith, Arkansas who we have known for decades and who has known Gus for decades and likes the guy told us recently….

“If Gus can win at least 7 games at Auburn next year and our coach (Chad Morris) has another disaster of a season Gus must might be able to come home to Arkansas after all.”

Let’s look at Auburn’s 2019 schedule:

Oregon (Dallas)
Tulane
Kent State
At Texas A&M
Mississippi State
At Florida
At Arkansas
At LSU
Ole Miss
Georgia
Samford
Alabama

That looks like another 7 – 5 to us for Auburn in 2019 and if that happens Gus Malzahn will not be the head coach at Auburn a year from today….Hell…anything less than 10 wins and Gus will be gone…but maybe Gus will be the head coach at Arkansas a year from today….which is very doable in our opinion.

More on Chad Morris in a moment.

6.  Willie Taggart, Florida State – The Late Great Johnny Carson who took over the Tonight Show from Jack Paar in 1962 when he was only 37 years old had a saying about being ready in life when your chance on the big stage came along….

“Talent alone won’t make you a success. Neither will being in the right place at the right time, unless you are ready. The most important question is: “Are your ready?”

…and let’s just face FACTS here….

Willie Taggart was NOT ready to take over or handle the Florida State job and it showed on the field in 2018 with the Seminoles finishing with a record of 5 – 7 but even worse in the 10 games it played against FBS teams with .500+ records FSU’s record was…

3 – 7

This is Florida State Football and when we say that it means…

This is the Florida State Football program that Bobby Bowden built and Jimbo Fisher revived and that Willie Taggart will either get back on track in 2019 or FSU will have a new head football coach a year from today…PERIOD!

An FSU-alum who a couple of us first met when we were serving in the US Navy in Jacksonville, Florida in the late 1980s and who took us to several FSU football games in Tallahassee called us in August after a business trip to Tallahassee where he checked in on what was going on in Fall Camp for FSU football and he says:

“It’s just all fluff. There is no football being coached or practiced at FSU and I would be stunned if they win 6 games this season.”

Our buddy in Jacksonville was right and it’s going to be very interesting to see how Willie Taggart responds which is a guy we first ran across when he was on Jim Harbaugh’s staff at Stanford and frankly we like Willie but come now…

We are not going to tolerate Mediocre or Worse Football at Florida State and that’s why Willie is going to need 8+ wins in 2019 or he will be gone and it doesn’t get any clearer than that!

Let’s look at Florida State’s 2019 schedule:

Boise State (Jacksonville)
La. Monroe
At Boston College
At Clemson
Louisville
Miami
NC State
Syracuse
At Virginia
At Wake Forest
Alabama State
At Florida

We would be stunned if FSU won more than 7 games in 2019 and if that’s the case….one of the best jobs in college football will come open in late November 2019!

7.  Kalani Sitake, BYU – No one needs to tell us what BYU Football was in the past and still can be today and certainly the 3 year run of Kalani Sitake as the head coach of BYU producing this record…

19 – 19

…is not the BYU Football we grew up nor the BYU Football we are going to accept!

No one at Coaches Hot Seat is a Mormon, but we do have plenty of Mormon friends in Utah and around America and if you have Mormons as friends you know they don’t tend to complain much but we can tell you they are not happy with the current state of their football program at BYU and either Kalaini Sitake is going to get things fixed in Provo or BYU will be forced to find another head coach that can get it done.

Let’s look at BYU’s 2019 schedule:

Utah
At Tennessee
USC
Washington
At Toledo
At South Florida
Boise State
At Utah State
Liberty
Idaho State
At UMass
At San Diego State

Geez….that’s a pretty tough schedule and we gotta think Sitake is going to need 8+ wins in 2019 to keep his job and 8+ wins with that schedule would be pretty impressive!

8.  Chad Morris, Arkansas – It’s hard to know just how bad the Arkansas Football program was when Bret Bielema left but a friend of ours that works on the academic side of the University of Arkansas sent us a note after Bielema was fired and before Morris was hired that said…

“Maybe the next coach won’t allow the football team to be such sloppy pigs. I know we are the Razorbacks but it was just f-ing ridiculous how undisciplined Arkansas was under Bielema!”

Certainly Bret Bielema’s records at Arkansas over 5 seasons of…

Overall:  29 – 34

SEC:  11 – 29

…were bad enough to get both Bielema and former AD Jeff Long fired but could it have been so bad in Fayetteville that it was the poor Leadership and Coaching of Bielema that led to new head coach Chad Morris posting a record of….

2 – 10

….in his first season on the job at Arkansas?

Maybe…or maybe Chad Morris is just an Average Coach who is now sitting on an overall record of…

16 – 32

….in 4 seasons at SMU and Arkansas and from what we saw of the Razorbacks in 2018 which was a good bit….

We didn’t see a Helluva lot!

As mentioned above Gus Malzahn might just become available at the end of the next football season to return to Arkansas if Chad Morris cannot get things rolling and with that in mind let’s look at the 2019 schedule for the Razorbacks:

Portland State
At Ole Miss
Colorado State
San Jose State
Texas A&M
At Kentucky
Auburn
At Alabama
Mississippi State
Western Kentucky
At LSU
Missouri

With 4 Cupcakes on the Arkansas 2019 schedule which is just how folks in SEC Country love their competition = Easy As Hell and Cupcakes Galore…we don’t see why Arkansas doesn’t win at least 6 games in 2019 and if the Hogs don’t win at least 6 games in 2019 Ole Chad Morris is going to find his rear-end on fire because after all….

This Is Arkansas Football!

9.  Justin Fuente, Virginia Tech – Virginia Tech was able to get Marshall on their schedule for a make-up game because of the washout of a game earlier this year because of a hurricane to get to 6 – 6 on the season but come now…

The Hokies played 8 FBS Teams in 2018 with .500+ records and their record in those games was….

3 – 5

…and in case some of the folks haven’t been paying attention out there and didn’t get to see Virginia Tech play this season…

Something stinks in Blacksburg and it stinks bad!

We know what Justin Fuente is capable of doing which is a lot but in our opinion he is no more leading the Virginia Tech football program or is capable of leading the Virginia Tech football program right now than the Pillsbury Dough Boy which may mean he is being distracted by something….maybe something personal….or he just forgot how to Lead and to Coach but something’s wrong with the Hokies football program and in our opinion the problem goes deep….very deep!

With Justin Fuente now having lost…

4+ games in ALL 3 of his seasons at Virginia Tech

….and sitting on records of…

Overall:  25 – 14

ACC:  15 – 9

…2019 will be a critical year for Fuente where either the Hokies will continue their downward trend after winning 10 games in 2016 or they will recover and become a power again in the ACC and with that in mind let’s look at Va. Tech’s 2019 schedule:

Furman
Old Dominion
At East Carolina
At Notre Dame
At Boston College
At Georgia Tech
At Miami
At Virginia
Duke
North Carolina
Pitt
Wake Forest

That looks like 7 – 5 to us unless the Hokies get some problems fixed in the offseason and at a place like Virginia Tech going 7 – 5 in your FOURTH year on the job….

Will get your ass fired!

10.  Mike Gundy, Oklahoma State – All of Mike Gundy’s having his name out there for every decent job opening in FBS football the last few seasons came home to roost in 2018 with Oklahoma State being very lucky to finish at 6 – 6 and a Damn Pitiful 3 – 6 in Big 12 Conference play and against FBS teams with .500+ records the Cowboys were….

3 – 5

Yes…Oklahoma State was Damn Lucky to win 6 games in 2018 and one has to wonder if Gundy has lost it with all the rattlesnake rodeo and other Meaingless Horseshit that has nothing to do with winning football games at OSU or maybe there’s something else going on but just our opinion having watched a lot of the Cowboys games in 2018…

Gundy doesn’t look very interested in our humble opinion

…on the sidelines and when the Head Coach is tuned out guess what…

The Coaching Staff and Whole Damn Team tunes out!

Luckily there is something that can focus the mind for Mike Gundy and that is getting his ass fired at his alma mater next season which another 6 or even 7 win season would do and with that in mind let’s look at Oklahoma State’s 2019 schedule:

At Oregon State
McNeese
At Tulsa
At Texas
Kansas State
At Texas Tech
Baylor
At Iowa State
TCU
Kansas
At West Virginia
Oklahoma

Anyone else get the feeling that Mike Gundy will be coaching for his job and career as a head coach when the Cowboys travel to Norman to play Oklahoma on November 30, 2019?

Thought so!

Hey Gundy!

That Tulsa job probably open up next season so you could just slide over to Tulsa from Stillwater so all might not be lost Son!

2018 Post Week 3 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings – Let’s Bring Out The Great Johnny Cash To Give These Hot Seat coaches Hell! – Thank You Johnny!

The Week 3 College Football Games are done and watching college football in person at UC Davis – Stanford game and then watching a Helluva lot of college football on television on Saturday it’s hard to imagine how the game could be better and let’s hope that it keeps going like this for a long time into the future.

The game of football in America is facing a lot of issues that will have to be dealt with for the game to navigate its way forward, and one of the things that needs to be done is move the current FBS 4-Team College Football Playoff to 8-Teams with 5 Power Five Conference Champs (If 3 losses or less) + 3 Wildcard teams but more on that as the season moves along because worrying about the Postseason Playoff takes away from the games being played right now!

Let’s bring out the Great Johnny Cash to give these Hot Seat coaches Hell!

Thank You Johnny!

Post Week 3 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings

1. Urban Meyer, Ohio State – We watched the interview that ESPN’s Tom Rinaldi did with Urban Meyer that aired on Sunday and it’s an interesting interview with a lot going on beyond what Meyer said…which wasn’t much….but to guess on what Meyer was thinking would be speculative and we are all about speculation and opinion here at Coaches Hot Seat!

In our humble opinion Urban Meyer sees both of the Smiths complicit in the failure of their marriage which flows from how Meyer was raised in that there are issues in all marriages but that two mature adults…especially ones with children…should be able to work things out and for lots of reasons the Smith marriage just imploded which probably seems unthinkable to Meyer.

There’s an old saying attributed to Lou Holtz that….

“If he’s got golf clubs in his truck or a camper in his driveway, I don’t hire him.”

…with the implication being that a good assistant football coach isn’t planning on playing lots of golf when working for Holtz. What is also implicit in the above statement is that Lou Holtz was interested in the personal lives of his coaches as it pertains to their ability to do their job, and when something is going wrong with someone’s personal life that will of course impact that person’s work as well. In our opinion there’s not a chance in Hell that Urban Meyer wasn’t aware that Smith was having lots of problems with his marriage and that Smith was doing all kinds of Crazy Shit in his personal life, and anyone that has been around a football team knows…

Everyone knows…especially the coaches….what’s going on with everyone if it falls outside what would be considered “normal”

…and for whatever reason Meyer kept Smith around with Meyer now admitting he should have fired the troubled Smith long ago which is incredibly obvious to anyone that can read the recent reports on this issue.

If we were a head football coach in college we would realize that is a very public position and that the coaches on our staff were also in very public positions and with what’s happened at Ohio State in mind we would talk to each our coaches and support staff and tell them straight-up:

“If something is going on in your personal life that is a problem…I am talking about a serious problem and not just normal personal or marriage issues…I want to know about it because you are representing this university and you are working for me and I don’t want to be surprised by something down the road. I can help you a lot with issues, even personal issues, but I cannot help you if you don’t tell me about it so keep that in mind.”

Will see what if anything else comes out on this Smith issue at Ohio State, and if something else does come out we would not be surprised, but for now it seems it has quieted down which is of course the same thing that happened with the Tressel issue. We shall see.

Interestingly Ohio State has looked like a team that can beat anyone in the country including Alabama in its first three games of the season and it will be fascinating to see how the Buckeyes play under Meyer in the coming weeks with OSU having left:

Tulane
At Penn State
Indiana
Minnesota
At Purdue
Nebraska
At Michigan State
At Maryland
Michigan

Our guess the Buckeyes lose 2 of their remaining 9 games which would be a Major Disappointment and lead to a lot of folks asking a lot of questions to why in the Hell a team with enough talent to beat anyone in the country ended up with 2 losses in the regular season!

2.  Larry Fedora, North Carolina – It was probably a Godsend that North Carolina didn’t play UCF at home on Saturday because of Hurricane Florence since UCF would have probably blasted the falling to pieces Tar Heels who are 0 – 2 and still have games left against…

Pitt
At Miami
Virginia Tech
At Syracuse
At Virginia
Georgia Tech
At Duke
Western Carolina
NC State

Our guess UNC wins 3 of their last 9 games to finish at….

3 – 9

…in 2018 which will open up the North Carolina job which is a Good but not Great job in college football but certainly a job we would walk from San Francisco to Chapel Hill to take if they offered it to anyone here at Coaches Hot Seat!

3.  Willie Taggart, Florida State – The first time any of us ran into Willie Taggart was in 2007 when he came to Stanford to coach running backs for Jim Harbaugh on The Farm and we can be honest here and say we are biased FOR Willie Taggart but for Damn sure we are not going to tolerate Willie or ANY other coach blowing up a college football program…especially one like Florida State….just because we like the guy!

We really don’t have a clue how good of a Head Football Coach that Willie Taggart is since he spent so little time at his previous HC stops at Western Kentucky, South Florida, and Oregon before taking over at FSU but we can tell you what we have been told by our friends in Florida who have been around Florida State football going back to the 1970s which is before Bobby Bowden arrived in Tallahassee in 1976 some very interesting and some very troubling things.

Back in August a Florida State-alum buddy of ours who has had season tickets to FSU games since the 1970s and who we have known since the late 1980s hinted in some conversations that he was hearing that….

“There is no football being practiced at Florida State. It’s just a lot of PR fluff.”

That is the phrase he used back in August for what Willie Taggart and his coaching staff were doing at FSU practices…

“It’s just a lot of PR fluff.”

After seeing FSU play against Virginia Tech, Samford, and Syracuse we don’t need someone watching FSU practice to know what is going on in Tallahassee because it’s as Plain As Damn Day and that is….

Willie Taggart and his Assistant Coaches are NOT coaching football at Florida State!

…but rather it’s just a lot “making sure the players are happy” and guess what Willie….

You have a football team that has already QUIT on you Son!

…and if you don’t start Coaching The Game of Football with your FSU football team TODAY….meaning Monday….then there’s a good chance you will not be the head coach at Florida State in 2019 and if you get run from this job after one year you will have a tough time getting a high school head coaching job in the future!

We have been told by that same FSU-alum buddy of ours that a significant portion of the $30M or so that it would take to buyout Willie Taggart and everyone that Willie has hired has already been raised and that if Florida State keeps playing the way they did against Syracuse…

Where the Florida State Football Team QUIT

….Willie Taggart will be fired shortly after the Florida game on November 24!

YES….it’s that bad Willie and your better Damn start coaching your football team especially with what you have left to play…

Northern Illinois
At Louisville
At Miami
Wake Forest
Clemson
At NC State
At Notre Dame
Boston College
Florida

If FSU plays the rest of the season the way they played against Syracuse…

They will not win another football game and finish the season at 1 – 11 and Willie Taggart and his entire coaching staff WILL BE FIRED in late November!

Northern Illinois comes to Tallahassee on Saturday with a pretty good football team that would love to beat FSU whether the Seminoles are any good or not and if FSU loses this game there will not be more than 20,000 people at any home FSU game the rest of the year so YES you could say there is a Helluva Lot riding on Saturday’s game and most of all what we would like to see is a…

FSU Football Team that actually shows up and plays like men instead of the Candy Ass Cowards and Quitters that Willie Taggart has been running out on the field in the first three games of the season!

Lastly we will leave Willie Taggart with a comment from an ACC assistant coach we talked to on Sunday and passing along this comment, even if we don’t identify the assistant, will probably end us talking to that coach but we think it’s important enough of a comment to relay in this spot, and the comment is the general feeling among the coaches on this particular ACC football team and that comment is in the form of a question:

ACC Assistant Coach: “Any way you can take Taggart off the Hot Seat?”

CHS: “Why is that?”

ACC Assistant Coach: “Because we need to keep Willie in Tallahassee for as long as possible since it’s a guaranteed win every year now!”

You gonna take that Willie?

If not then how about showing up at practice on Monday and quit giving a Damn about making your players happy and….

Coaching The Freaking Game of Football Son

…and you can start by running the Hell out of the 15+ players on your FSU football team that Flat-Out QUIT against Syracuse!

The Italian philosopher Niccolo Machiavelli wrote in his book The Prince that….

“It is better to be feared than loved, if you cannot be both.”

…and what Willie Taggart needs to understand is….

Your players will NEVER Love you if they do not Respect you and right now….

The FSU players have No Damn Respect for Willie Taggart or the FSU Assistant Coaches

…but be assured if dozen members of Coaches Hot Seat took over the Florida State football program on Monday by Tuesday evening after practice the players still left on the team….

Would Respect Us….You Can Damn Sure Count On That….Because We Would Tolerate Nothing But Respect From Our Players and the same should go for Willie Taggart!

4.  Clay Helton, USC – It’s impossible to understand the situation that USC head coach Clay Helton is in today unless you grew up watching USC football in the 1970s when the Trojans were one of the Top 10 teams in the country every year. Yes, Pete Carroll had a great run at USC from 2001 – 2009 but the USC alumni in their 50s, 60s, and 70s who have a Helluva Lot of money and influence in the Los Angeles and all over the world even are just not going to tolerate Clay Helton turning USC into average football program even if Helton is sitting on records now of…

Overall:  28 – 12

Pac-12:  20 – 6

The above are pretty decent numbers, but our friends who are USC-alums don’t think those records are so great and when they see in person in Austin the Trojans get blown-out by 23 points to a Texas team that lost to Maryland which just lost to Freaking Temple then you have some…

Pissed-Off USC Folks

…and believe it….they are now passing the hat around to raise the money to fire Clay Helton later this year if it comes to it which caused a member of Coaches Hot Seat to ask one our USC-alum buddies who could buy and sell Nick Saban in about 15 minutes on Sunday….

“What would it take for Helton to keep his job at USC?”

USC-alum:  “Clay better Damn win out the rest of the games.”

OK…let’s look at the remaining 9 games that Clay better Damn win every Damn one of them!

Washington State
At Arizona
Colorado
At Utah
Arizona State
At Oregon State
Cal
At UCLA
Notre Dame

Don’t think there’s a chance in Hell that Clay Helton and the USC Trojans win their last 9 games and if we had to guess we would say they go….

6 – 3 or 7 – 2 at best!

You know what that means right?

USC will be looking for a new head football coach by December and we happen to know a college head football coach with a team in the Top 15 who would love a shot at the USC job!

We wouldn’t recommend that Clay Helton and the Trojans lose to Washington State on Friday night OR any game the rest of the season or it’s Dandy Don time in South LA!

5.  Gus Malzahn, Auburn – Maybe it’s just us but if we had…

$49 Million Dollars Guaranteed in our back pocket

…over the next 7 years whether we won another football game or not we would NOT….

Coach Like A Damn Coward

….but on Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium on The Plains in Auburn you had Gus Malzahn again….

Coaching Like A Damn Coward Against LSU!

Why Gus?

Can you please explain to us why you are still…

Coaching Like A Damn Coward Scared of Your Shadow Son?

Auburn has one of the best defenses in America and Gus is coaching the Tigers offense like the AU defense is not even going to show up for the game and just why in the Hell is that Gus?

Clearly that’s a question that Gus Malzahn is not going to answer but it’s a Helluva question because you give anyone at Coaches Hot Seat….

Guaranteed $49 Million Dollars over the next 7 Years

…we are going to attack your ass…

All Over The Field
Up and Down the Field
In the Damn Stands If Necessary

…to score as many Damn points as possible because….

We have no Damn Fear of anything because our ass is going to get paid $49 Million Dollars Whatever the Hell Happens!

Let’s look at Malzahn’s seasons at Auburn:

2013:  12 – 2
2014:  8 – 5
2015:  7 – 6
2016:  8 – 5
2017:  10 – 4

Geez…that’s 4+ losses in 4 of Gus’s 5 seasons at Auburn AND he is….

Guaranteed to make $7M a season for the next 7 years if he doesn’t win another football game!

Please now Gus….

Why in the Hell are you coaching the Auburn football team like a Damn Coward Son?

Let’s see what Auburn has left in 2018:

Arkansas
Southern Miss
At Mississippi State
Tennessee
At Ole Miss
Texas A&M
At Georgia
Liberty
At Alabama

That looks like at least THREE more losses which again would be….

FOUR losses on the season

…and that means….

8 – 4

….or could even be a….

7 – 5

…record in 2018 and we have to wonder just what Big Chumps the folks at Auburn will feel like if Gus Malzahn lays down a 8 – 4 or 7 – 5 after you just guaranteed him $49 Million Dollars?

Got VERY BIG Chumps?

Yep!

6.  Major Applewhite, Houston – Big-Time Houston booster and billionaire Tillman Fertitta made it clear a couple of years ago that….

Anything less than 10 wins a year with Houston football is not acceptable

…and after Major Applewhite put up a record of 7 – 5 in year one at Houston it was made clear to us that Major needed to hit the 10 win mark in 2018 to keep his job going into 2019 and losing to a Texas Tech team that got blasted by Ole Miss which just got blasted by Alabama is no doubt something that Tillman Fertitta has noted and with that in mind let’s see what the 2 – 1 Cougars have left on their schedule in 2018:

Texas Southern
Tulsa
At East Carolina
At Navy
USF
At SMU
Temple
Tulane
At Memphis

Let’s assume Fertitta is willing to give Major Applewhite a chance to get to 10 wins by winning a bowl game so that would mean Houston needs to win…

7 of their last 9 games

….and that’s going to be a challenge….a BIG Challenge!

7.  Kevin Sumlin, Arizona – Kevin Sumlin’s Arizona team beat FCS Southern Utah on Saturday night to raise their record to 1 – 2 but it’s back to Real Football in Week 4 with a game at Oregon State and a game that Sumlin and the Wildcats….

Better Damn Not Lose

….because if Arizona cannot beat Oregon State then we rather doubt they will win another game in 2018 and just think we thought at the beginning of the season that…

Anything less than 7 wins in 2018 would be a Total Disaster for Arizona!

Let’s look at the rest of Arizona’s schedule:

At Oregon State
USC
Cal
At Utah
At UCLA
Oregon
Colorado
At Washington State
Arizona State

We don’t have a Damn Clue how Arizona gets to 6 wins in 2018 = Code Red Total Damn Disaster for Kevin Sumlin in Year 1 in Tucson!

8.  Lovie Smith, Illinois – The Illini were up on South Florida for most of the game on Saturday before letting USF get them in the fourth quarter and that loss to the Bulls drops Illinois head coach Lovie Smith’s records to….

Overall:  7 – 20

Big Ten:  2 – 16

….and Big Ten Conference play starts this coming Saturday for the Illini with…

Penn State coming to Champaign!

Oh…here’s the rest of the Illini schedule who are now at 2 – 1:

Penn State
At Rutgers
Purdue
At Wisconsin
At Maryland
Minnesota
At Nebraska
Iowa
At Northwestern

Our guess the Illini win 2 of their remaining 9 games to finish at 4 – 8 which is DOUBLE the number of wins the last two seasons for Illinois!

Woo-Freaking-Hoo!

Maybe give Lovie and extension and raise he gets to 4 wins in 2018?

It’s Illinois after all where Average is Great and Good is You Are A Freaking God on Earth!

9.  David Beaty, Kansas – You gotta give whoever is making the schedules in Lawrence great credit because when you open the season with….

Nicholls
At Central Michigan
Rutgers

….you are hoping for a 2 – 1 start at least and that is what David Beaty and Kansas got and now it’s back to Big Boy Football in Week 4 with a trip to Baylor but come now….Baylor just got blasted by Duke in Waco and Hell…

Kansas could move to 3 – 1 with a win over Baylor on Saturday!

After Baylor its…

Oklahoma State
At West Virginia
At Texas Tech
TCU
Iowa State
At Kansas State
At Oklahoma
Texas

We would recommend that David Beaty and Kansas find a way to beat Baylor in Waco in Saturday because if you can’t beat Baylor….

You will not win another game this season!

10.  Jim Harbaugh, Michigan – After a slow start in the game against SMU the Wolverines turned it up a few notches and coasted to a 45 – 20 win over the Mustangs and looky-here we have a…

Damn Fascinating Game in Ann Arbor on Saturday

…with winless Nebraska and new head coach Scott Frost coming into town in a game that…

Neither Team or Coach can afford to lose

….and that’s true for Jim Harbaugh and Michigan because what comes after the Huskers visit to the Big House:

At Northwestern
Maryland
Wisconsin
At Michigan State
Penn State
At Rutgers
Indiana
At Ohio State

The way that Wisconsin looked against BYU and Michigan State against Arizona State we don’t see why Michigan doesn’t get to the Ohio State game with more than 2 losses or less because the above are all teams that Blue should beat save the game against Penn State on November 3 and even that game is winnable.

Jim Harbaugh and Michigan just CANNOT LOSE to Nebraska this coming Saturday and to lose this game would nothing short of a Code Red Total Disaster!

Great Luck Jimmy!

Post Week 3 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings – 1 – 10 Hot Seat Coaches – These Head Coaches Don’t Like To See the Man in Black but Give ‘em Hell anyway Johnny Cash!

Amazingly Week 3 of the college football season is already in the books and the HEAT is being turned-up on college head coaches who have stumbled out of the gate or in some cases NEVER got out of the gate and with that REALITY let’s get to the…

Post Week 3 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings – 1 – 10 Hot Seat Coaches

A chair on fire... metaphor "In The Hot Seat"

These head coaches don’t like to see the Man in Black but Give ‘em Hell anyway Johnny Cash!

PaulRhoads83883 (1)

1.  Paul Rhoads, Iowa State – With the Iowa State loss to Toledo on Saturday considering this stat for a second….

In Paul Rhoads last 30 games at Iowa State he has posted a record of:

7 – 23

In Paul Rhoads last 25 Big 12 games at Iowa State he has posted a record of:

4 – 21

Yep, that will land your ass on the No. 1 Hot Seat in the land and after a 1 – 2 start to the 2015 season the Cyclones get a week off before playing Kansas at home on October 3.

Iowa State can beat this Kansas team in the wake of the Complete Freaking Disaster left by that Dumbass Charlie Weis…right?

We sure the Hell hope so but how will Iowa State fare in its other 8 Big 12 conference games after they beat Kansas on October 3?

Hell if we know, but it looks like barring a Miracle in Corn Country Iowa State will be looking for a new head football coach come December!

2.  Doug Martin, New Mexico State – Doug Martin is in his third season at New Mexico State and with the Aggies overtime loss to UTEP on Saturday Martin has posted a record in three seasons at NMSU of….

4 – 23

Enough said on Doug Martin’s Hot Seat situation at New Mexico State!

DarrellHazell18818

3.  Darrell Hazell, Purdue – We here at Coaches Hot Seat fully expected Darrell Hazell’s Boilermakers to beat Virginia Tech at home on Saturday but instead the Hokies delivered a 51 – 24 beatdown of Purdue and now the 2015 season could turn into a Complete Freaking Disaster for Hazell with a very good Bowling Green team coming to town this coming Saturday.

A loss to Bowling Green and Purdue will start the season at…

1 – 3

…with 8 Big Ten games left to be played starting with a game at Michigan State on October 3 and for the life of us we believe if you can’t beat Virginia Tech or Bowling Green how in the Hell will Purdue win another game this season!

Oh, Darrell Hazell’s win/loss records in his third season at Purdue:

Overall:  5 – 22

Big Ten:  1 – 15

That’s BAD with a capital B!

MikeLondon271717

4.  Mike London, Virginia – After a few tense moments Mike London’s Virginia football team got its first win of the season over William & Mary on Saturday and now it’s back to Big Boy football in Week 4 with a game on Friday night against Boise State.

Now in his SIXTH season at Virginia Mike London has win/loss records on the board of…

Overall:  24 – 40

ACC:  11 – 29

…with ONE winning season out of FIVE and if UVA is going to post a winning season in 2015 we would recommend that they beat Boise State on Friday night!

By comparison the Virginia head coach that Mike London replaced and who was run out of Charlottesville on a rail…

Al Groh

AlGroh7777

…coached at UVA for NINE seasons posting FIVE winning seasons.

Yep…that reality will land your ass on the Hot Seat 100% of the time!

BretBielema188181

5.  Bret Bielema, Arkansas – A few years ago a handful of Coaches Hot Seat members were having dinner with one of their college physics professors and one asked the professor about the following Albert Einstein quote:

AlbertEinstine811188

CHS Member: “John…what did Einstein mean when he said…

“Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.”

College Physics Professor: “Ahhh…Albert…a very smart one he was. There is a scientific answer to what Einstein meant when he said, “Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one,” but remembering you boys’ grades in my class I will give you the layman’s answer!

Loud laughter at the table!

College Physics Professor: “What Einstein meant was that reality is nothing more and nothing less than how each of our brains perceives the world and the perceived reality for one person is often very different than the reality for almost everyone else on the Earth and thus one reality is very hard to define. In the end reality is just the perception created by the neurons firing off in each of our brains which human beings will naturally try to order towards their own individual particular world view.”

CHS Member: “So what you are saying is that reality…meaning a one reality for everyone no more exists than the Man on the Moon and that reality is different for each person based upon how their individual brain perceives the world?”

College Physics Professor: “Precisely, but then human beings because of their highly evolved brains look at the world around them and naturally want to order it, to organize it, to classify it, to put people and ideas into certain boxes, because that is what homo sapiens were forced to do over millions of years of evolution to survive and then thrive and with that you now not only understand what Einstein was saying but you can also grasp why perception plays such a huge role in daily human life. In the end we are what we perceive of the world, of other people, and of ourselves.”

Getting back to the Complete Freaking Disaster that is Bret Bielema’s REALITY right now after the Razorbacks loss to Texas Tech on Saturday the PERCEPTION at the end of the 2014 season was that Arkansas made some HUGE strides….but did they in FACT?

Let’s go Joe Friday and get to the FACTS on the State of Arkansas Football…Past…Present…and Future:

After a loss to Georgia on October 18, 2014 the Arkansas record stood at…

3 – 4

….and then the Razorbacks under Bret Bielema finished the season by doing this:

Beating UAB = No Big Whoop!

Losing to Mississippi State = Not Surprising

Beating a Collapsing LSU Team = No Big Whoop!

Beating a Demoralized Ole Miss Team =No Big Whoop!

Losing to Missouri = Not Surprising

Beating a Mediocre Texas Team in Bowl Game = No Big Whoop!

So the so-called BIG ending to the Razorbacks 2014 was in REALITY…

No Big Whoop!

…but the PERCEPTION was that Bret Bielema had “turned things around” at Arkansas when in REALITY nothing could be farther from the truth!

Let’s move ahead to the 2015 season for Arkansas which has started this way following an off-season of Bret Bielema and Arkansas AD Jeff Long telling anyone that would listen that Bielema was the second-coming of Paul “Bear” Bryant and that Ohio State was actually playing in something akin to the MAC instead of the Big Ten….in our opinion of course….

Beat UTEP = No Big Whoop!

Lost to Toledo = Hmmmm….Surprising….but NOT REALLY!

Lost to Texas Tech = Hmmmm…Even More Surprising…but NOT REALLY!

Oh, Bret Bielema’s record since supposedly things “turned around” at Arkansas after the loss to Georgia last season:

5 – 4

So the PERCEPTION until Toledo whipped Arkansas was that the Razorbacks were….BACK.…but the REALITY which is just now sinking into the heads of Arkansas fans who are thinking the Pig Farmer from Iowa might have pulled a fast one on them in the last year is that…

Arkansas is 1 – 2 and they play Texas A&M on Saturday in Dallas and the Aggies are….

6 Point Favorites!

Guess what?

If Arkansas loses to Texas A&M on Saturday with games at Tennessee and at Alabama on deck the REALITY is the Razorbacks could be sitting at…

1 – 5

….when Auburn comes to Fayetteville on October 24 in what could be the….

Ultimate Hot Seat vs. Hot Seat Coaching Match-Up with the Losing Coach being run out of town on the back of a hog!

Here’s the REALITY for Bret Bielema based upon the building PERCEPTION in Arkansas which we confirmed by talking to an Arkansas-alum friend of ours in Ft. Smith, Arkansas who could buy-and-sell everyone in the Fayetteville – Bentonville area except for the Walton clan and that REALITY is…

“If this season implodes both Bielema and AD Jeff Long might find themselves lucky to shoveling shit in West Texas as you boys like to say from time to time!”

Yep…that is the REALITY NOW in Arkansas folks!

KliffKingsbury271717

On another note per our agreement with Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury since the Red Raiders beat the Razorbacks we will no longer be calling Coach Kingsbury….

“_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _”

Nice win there in Fayetteville Kliff!

6.  Willie Taggart, South Florida – With the South Florida loss to Maryland on Saturday the Bulls dropped to…

1 – 2

…on the season and things don’t get any easier for Willie Taggart and his football team with this upcoming schedule:

Memphis
Syracuse
At UConn
SMU
At Navy
At East Carolina
Temple
Cincinnati
At UCF

Memo to Willie Taggart:  IF your South Florida team plays the rest of the season the way it has played its first three games in 2015…

You might not win another game until you play hapless UCF on November 26 and Hell Furman beat UCF so go ahead and put that win over the Black Knights on the board!

Get off your ass Willie Taggart! Signed: Coaches Hot Seat

GusMalzahn11818

7.  Gus Malzahn, Auburn – At the tail-end of the 2014 college football season we ran into an “old and former defensive coordinator in the SEC” at a restaurant in Atlanta and he said to us when the Auburn football program came up:

“The Gus Malzahn experiment in major college football is about to come to an end because what he and other coaches like Chip Kelly have been doing just cannot work unless they have an elite quarterback and neither Malzahn nor Kelly have that right now nor more than likely will they have that next season.”

We talked about the above statement for a few hours in the lobby of an Atlanta hotel and came to agreement on the idea that Malzahn and Kelly’s offenses depended on an elite quarterback who could make instant decisions on the fly but Auburn had Jeremy Johnson ready to play in 2015 and the Eagles had Nick Foles who wasn’t doing to bad at quarterback for the Eagles last season.

Guess what?

Jeremy Johnson is a Total Bust and Nick Foles is playing for the St. Louis Rams who was replaced by Sam Bradford who would be lucky to be a water boy on the Coaches Hot Seat Flag Football Team forget about playing QB and right now the…

Philadelphia Eagles

AND

Auburn Tigers

….are both a Complete Freaking Disaster!

Oh…another thing…neither the Philadelphia Eagles nor the Auburn Tigers are playing ANY defense so put that REALITY on top of everything else and truly….

Gus Malzahn is facing nothing short of what Gene Chizik faced in 2012 when Auburn went 3 – 9 and 0 – 8 in SEC play and was rightly run out of Auburn on a rail!

Let’s look at the rest of Auburn’s schedule with the Tigers now at 1 – 2 on the season realizing that…

Gus Malzahn is 2 – 6 in his last 8 games at Auburn

Guz Malzahn is 10 – 6 in his last 16 games at Auburn

Mississippi State
San Jose State
At Kentucky
At Arkansas
Ole Miss
At Texas A&M
Georgia
Idaho
Alabama

In our opinion if Auburn plays like they did against LSU the Tigers will be lucky to win…

3 Games in 2015

ANY SEC Games in 2015

What if Auburn finished at…

3 – 9 Overall

0 – 8 in the SEC

…in 2015 would Gus Malzahn be sent packing as Gene Chizik was sent packing only two seasons ago with the same record after winning a National Championship considering Malzahn didn’t win a National Title two seasons ago when he had the chance?

What’s Good for the Chizik is Good for the Malzahn….right?

RIGHT!

JayJacobs77217

Who would Auburn AD Jay Jacobs hire to replace the run out of Auburn Gus Malzahn to coach the Tigers into the future?

Well, based upon the amount of money Auburn has been spending to build a strong football program on The Plains does anyone doubt that Jacobs would fly down to Tallahassee and offer Jimbo Fisher $8 Million A Year…”Nick Saban Money”….to be the next head football coach at Auburn?

Would Jimbo Fisher accept an offer to become the Auburn head coach at $8 Million A Year?

Does it get HOT on The Plains of southwest Alabama in the Summer?

That would be a BIG YES!

Memo to Gus Malzahn:  Nice try against LSU to get the Auburn offense going with Jeremy Johnson but now Gus….Johnson would be lucky to be running the scout team for the Coaches Hot Seat Flag Football Team forget about being in the 1 – 5 QB slots so why in the Hell is he the starting QB at Auburn? Oh, what’s behind Johnson is even worse? OK…that makes sense!

Memo No. 2 to Gus Malzahn:  If you lose to Mississippi State on Saturday here is how you will know on whether to contact a Realtor or not to put your house on the market:

If Auburn AD Jay Jacobs starts saying things like…

“I am becoming very concerned in our fundamental approach to the game.”

…put the house on the market immediately!

CharlieStrong288118

8.  Charlie Strong, Texas – The most amazing thing about the Texas loss to California on Saturday wasn’t the missed extra point at the end of the game BUT that the Texas Longhorns…

YES the Freaking Texas Longhorns!

…had to come storming back to almost tie a team in the California Bears that over the past THREE football seasons had won NINE football games TOTAL!

That is the REALITY of how far the Texas football program has fallen since Mack Brown lost to Alabama in the 2009 – 2010 Bogus BCS National Title Game!

Since that loss to Alabama in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena in January 2010 Texas has posted a combined record under Mack Brown and Charlie Strong of….

37 – 30!

This is the Texas Longhorns we are talking about here and although we will readily admit there is No Joy in Coaches Hot Seat-Ville putting Charlie Strong on the Hot Seat who two Coaches Hot Seat members first met in the early 1990s when Charlie was on Steve Spurrier’s staff at Florida the TRUTH is Texas football right now is very simply…

A Complete Freaking Disaster

…and the sad REALITY is that if Oliver Luck had been the AD at Texas in 2013 instead of the Sorry Excuse for a Human Being Steve Patterson that right now…in our opinion….the head coach of the Texas Longhorns would be none other than…

Nick Saban

NickSaban818181

Guess what Texas fans….and this is just our opinion here at Coaches Hot Seat and is the FIRM opinion of the two Coaches Hot Seat members that traveled to Tuscaloosa for the Ole Miss – Alabama game on Saturday and who are still in Tuscaloosa on this early Monday morning…

If Texas is looking for a new head football coach in December Nick Saban would be Very Damn Interested in that job

….because unlike Alabama which is rebuilding job that is PAST DONE Texas is a Complete Freaking Disaster that needs a HERO to save it and again our opinion here at Coaches Hot Seat:

Nick Saban has ONE more Act in his life on this Earth which would be capped by winning….

National Titles at LSU, Alabama and Texas!

You heard it here first!

As for Charlie Strong whose Texas team is now at 1 – 2 on the season Big 12 Conference play begins this Saturday against Oklahoma State in Austin and to that we can only say…

Good Luck Charlie!

GeorgeOleary271717

9.  George O’Leary, UCF – The UCF loss to Furman on Saturday confirmed of what we saw of UCF when they played Stanford in Week 2…

UCF is average at best and hardly coached team at worst

….and we agree completely with the following from Victory Way: UCF Blog for the UCF Fans…

Time for George to go, Harry P. Nolan, Victory Way

Up next for the 0 – 3 UCF which is now hardly coached by George O’Leary in our opinion…

At South Carolina

….in a Hot Seat vs. Hot Seat Head Coaching Match-Up against the Ole’ Ball Coach!

Speaking of the Ole’ Ball Coach!

ALA @ USC

10.  Steve Spurrier, South Carolina – In the spring of this year a few Coaches Hot Seat members were up in South Carolina playing golf in the Greenville area and ran into some South Carolina Gamecock fans who were asked about the status of Steve Spurrier who will be FOREVER be known at Coaches Hot Seat as the…

Ole’ Ball Coach

…and one of those South Carolina fans said the following:

“I heard that Spurrier wanted to retire at the end of last season but that some folks got to him about all the other coaches that would be out of job if he retired and the Steve reluctantly decided to come back and coach in 2015 and see how things would turn out.”

Sorry….head coaches should not be staying in jobs to keep their assistant coaches and especially their sons employed and no matter what Steve Spurrier has done at South Carolina in the past in case the folks in South Carolina don’t know it the Gamecocks head coaching job is not something akin to the modern day Roman Empire or the USSR where the leaders get to hang around for as long as they want but instead South Carolina is in America and in America…

When you quit performing in your job…you get fired!

That’s how it is for most hard-working Americans making $50,000 or less a year and for Damn sure that is how it should be for football coaches making Millions of Dollars a year!

Steve Spurrier has no Damn “right” to stay as the head coach at South Carolina for as long as he wants but instead the people paying the bills….

The alums, boosters and fans of South Carolina

…will decide when Steve Spurrier will no longer be the head coach at USC unless of course the Ole’ Ball Coach decides first which based upon South Carolina’s remaining games in 2015 as detailed below will be the way this Shakespearean tragedy in Columbia will end later this year:

UCF
At Missouri
LSU
Vanderbilt
At Texas A&M
At Tennessee
Florida
The Citadel
Clemson

Anyone else thinking that the Ole’ Ball Coach and South Carolina will…

Win maybe….3 more games this season….before they play Clemson at home on November 28 in what will more than likely be the last game with the Ole’ Ball Coach on the sideline in his legendary playing and coaching career?

Anyone else thinking South Carolina will beat Clemson and send Steve Spurrier out a winner and that the next day Steve will be playing golf in Florida?

Thought so!

What is that monologue from William Shakespeare’s As You Like It, Act Two – Scene Seven, that for some reason fits in this spot when considering the playing and coaching career of the Great Steve Spurrier? Oh…here it is:

“All the world’s a stage,

And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages. At first the infant,
Mewling and puking in the nurse’s arms.
Then, the whining school-boy with his satchel
And shining morning face, creeping like snail
Unwillingly to school. And then the lover,
Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad
Made to his mistress’ eyebrow. Then, a soldier,
Full of strange oaths, and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honour, sudden, and quick in quarrel,
Seeking the bubble reputation
Even in the cannon’s mouth. And then, the justice,
In fair round belly, with a good capon lined,
With eyes severe, and beard of formal cut,
Full of wise saws, and modern instances,
And so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts
Into the lean and slippered pantaloon,
With spectacles on nose and pouch on side,
His youthful hose, well saved, a world too wide
For his shrunk shank, and his big manly voice,
Turning again toward childish treble, pipes
And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all,
That ends this strange eventful history,
Is second childishness and mere oblivion,

Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.”
