With Tiger Woods In the Hunt For Another Major Championship, The Open Championship or British Open Depending On Where You Are Standing, It Is Time For Tiger To Again “Embrace and Welcome the Pressure” That Comes With Being In Contention On Sunday In A Major – “Play to Win” Tiger and If You Win OR Lose the 2012 British Open the World Will Keep Spinning and Your Friends and Foes Will Still Keep Giving You A Hard Time….As Always
With Tiger Woods again in contention to win a Major Championship, the Open Championship or British Open to us Yanks, after not winning a Major Championship since the 2008 US Open at Torrey Pines in San Diego it is time for Tiger to embrace the words of that Great Englishman and Prime Minister of Great Britain during World War II:
“If you are going through hell, keep going.”
The opinions of the general public, the news media and even Coaches Hot Seat about Tiger Woods are all irrelevant to Tiger Woods efforts to win Major Championships again and until Tiger returns to being the Tiger Woods that arrived on the Stanford University campus in the Fall of 1994 that…
“Embraced and welcomed the pressure”
…that comes with playing in high-level championship golf tournaments it is going to be very difficult for Tiger to break through in a Major Championship where at this moment in time his competitors no longer fear Tiger or more importantly they don’t fear Tiger’s golf game.
As some of the division level officers told the Allied troops in their charge after landing on the beaches of Normandy, France on D-Day June 6, 1944 and after taking heavy fire from the Germans:
“We are not getting back on those boats and the only way any of us are getting home is through Berlin.”
Tiger Woods when playing golf in a timid and fearful and worrying about what might happen will just not be good enough for Tiger to again win Major Championships and that means either Tiger fully…
“Embraces and welcomes the pressure”
…that comes with being in the hunt for a Major Championship on Sunday or another Major will pass by without Tiger’s name being engraved on the winner’s trophy.
The Greatest Golfer in history Jack Nicklaus said it best…
“I like trying to win. That’s what golf is all about.”
Play your game and stick to your “gameplan” Tiger Woods but make Damn sure that you are…
“Playing to Win”
…and whether you Win or Lose the people that give a Damn about you are still going to give you a hard time and the people that could care the Hell less about you are going to give you a hard time so why in the Hell do anything but…
“Play to Win and sure the Hell don’t be afraid of Losing.”
