Reading ESPN Outside the Lines Don Van Natta Jr.’s piece on the negotiations between the NCAA and Penn State that led to the penalties that NCAA president Mark Emmert announced last week….
….we cannot help but think of the Great Mark Twain’s words…
“Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; Truth isn’t.”
TRUTH is stranger than fiction relative to what has happened at Penn State over the past nine months and over the past decade plus because so much of what has now happened to Penn State University, Penn State Athletics, Penn State Football and to Joe Paterno and his legacy could have been prevented by lots of people…..NO…make that ANYONE in State College, Pennsylvania picking-up the phone and calling….
The Local Police
The District Attorney
Child Protective Services
The Pennsylvania Attorney General
The State Police
The US Justice Department
The FBI
….and keep calling until someone from some governmental agency did a REAL investigation of the activities of Jerry Sandusky with young children both on and off the Penn State campus which just had to have been something that SOMEONE at or around Penn State had some questions and concerns about.
In the past few weeks the most interesting thing said to us about what has gone on at Penn State and Jerry Sandusky over the past decade plus was by an assistant coach at a Division I-A/FBS school who said to us about Jerry Sandusky:
“There are very few things that happen inside or around our athletic department that everyone around here eventually learns about and there are dozens of very significant things each year involving people’s personal lives that are kept mostly in-house but many of us hear or learn about and that is why I believe (his opinion) that there were dozens of people at Penn State that knew or had suspicions about Jerry Sandusky and what he was doing with young children and it seems that except for 1998 when the mother of one of those children told the police her concerns about Sandusky that people at Penn State went to great lengths to keep Sandusky’s actions and behavior being learned about and being known by the police and the outside public.”
As for our own personal experiences of those here at Coaches Hot Seat that were involved in playing intercollegiate athletics we also remember that even the smallest things like an administrator breaking up with a boyfriend or girlfriend, divorces among athletic department personnel, small fender bender car accidents, grandchildren being born, family members of student-athletes or school employees not getting tickets to athletic events, pet deaths, the exact reasons why people in the athletics department got fired, someone using an athletic department vehicle for their own personal use, a couple of hats or shirts being taken by someone from the logo clothing locker, etc., etc., etc., of tiny things that were widely known throughout the athletic departments by both administrators and student-athletes makes us REALLY wonder how Jerry Sandusky could have been bringing young children onto the Penn State campus and into the Penn State athletic building and RAPING those young children and NO ONE could have known about Sandusky’s illegal, immoral and EVIL actions.
We may have just nailed what this entire Jerry Sandusky Disaster was REALLY about:
What Jerry Sandusky has been convicted of doing…RAPING a dozen or more boys both on and off the Penn State campus for a decade at least was so Damn EVIL that either…
There were people at Penn State involved with what Jerry Sandusky was doing to those young boys and had good reason to cover-up Sandusky’s actions
OR
Jerry Sandusky’s actions were so EVIL and known about or people had suspicions about by so many people at Penn State that the people in positions of “leadership” at Penn State had NO CHOICE but to continue to cover-up Sandusky’s EVIL actions or face the possibility that Sandusky’s long-term EVIL behavior would become known to the public and to the authorities and thus put their butts on the line and their own freedom in danger as well
Oh, there is another reason that people in positions of “leadership” at Penn State would have covered-up for Jerry Sandusky for such a long period of time as he continued to RAPE young boys both on and off the Penn State campus…
Jerry Sandusky had something on the people involved in the cover-up
…which goes right to the heart of what the Biggest Cover-Up in US History, The Watergate Break-In of the Democratic National Committee’s Offices, was all about which was President Richard Nixon authorizing a cover-up of WHO was involved in the Watergate Break-in, former CIA agent E. Howard Hunt, because of what E. Howard Hunt knew about Nixon’s activities in the past. See…
Whatever the TRUTH is of what really happened at Penn State what we know to be TRUE today is that…
For over a decade AT LEAST Jerry Sandusky RAPED young boys both on and off the Penn State campus
AND
AND
Based upon ESPN Don Van Natta Jr.’s latest Penn State came very close to having their football program shut down for four years by the NCAA
AND
In our opinion about 10 percent of the TRUTH of Jerry Sandusky’s actions….the RAPING of young boys both on and off the Penn State campus…has made into the public and that a few months and years from now hopefully the Full TRUTH of just what went on for the past decade plus with the EVIL Jerry Sandusky at Penn State will be known to everyone into the American Public so that the blame can be properly placed on one or more people that for some reason seemed to not have the Damn sense or decency to pick-up a phone and call, and call, and call the authorities until they found someone that would investigate Jerry Sandusky completely and without bias.
Yes, the TRUTH is going to come out eventually on EVERYTHING that happened at Penn State via public court hearings or through private investigations done by the news media or interested Americans and it is then in our opinion when we will find out WHO exactly allowed “EVIL to triumph” while good, bad or indifferent men “did nothing” and the “did nothing” men while “EVIL was triumphing” will no doubt get their justice either in this life or for those that believe in Heaven and Hell in a very Hot Damn place for a very long time.
