Coaches Hot Seat Analysis: The most stunning thing about Brady Hoke’s first year at Michigan is how Damn close the Wolverines came to having an undefeated regular season with only close losses at Michigan State and at Iowa being the difference between finishing at 10 – 2 and playing in the Sugar Bowl and being 12 – 0 and playing LSU for the Bogus BCS National Title in New Orleans.
Somewhere in our memory is a news story that talked about how Brady Hoke when an assistant coach at Michigan told then Wolverines head coach Lloyd Carr that one day he (Hoke) would be the head coach in Ann Arbor and the funny thing about things that you believe completely are going to happen in life….
Many times do happen
….and with Hoke now in his dream job all he has to do is to live up the very high expectations at Michigan which Hoke did with flying colors in his first season on the job in 2011.
The two games that convinced us last year that Brady Hoke had Michigan going in the right direction were the come back win over Notre Dame in Week 2 and the DESTRUCTION of Nebraska at the Big House in Week 11, 45 – 17, which led to Michigan’s first win over “Ohio” in many seasons and to an overtime win against a very good Virginia Tech team in the Sugar Bowl.
YES, Michigan Football is BACK and now in his second season on the job what Brady Hoke and the Wolverines need to do is to shock the world and they will have that chance in the first week of the season against an Alabama team that has a ton of talent….BUT….will be with a new offensive coordinator and some inexperienced players on defense that Michigan OC Al Borges just may be able to exploit early in the game and if the Wolverines play tough defense…..who knows…GASP….Michigan just might be able to beat BAMA…..maybe.
Except for the Alabama game Michigan has more than enough talent to win EVERY other game on their schedule with the games at Notre Dame, Michigan State, at Nebraska and at Ohio State seemingly the major stumbling blocks to at worst another 10 – 2 or 11 – 1 season.
The great thing about Brady Hoke being at Michigan at the age of 53 and Urban Meyer only 48 years old now at Ohio State we fans of the great game of college football can look forward to a decade plus of very Damn entertaining Michigan – Ohio State games and if that doesn’t get your American red blood pumping nothing will!
