Coaches Hot Seat Analysis:  So the experiment of the Pirate on the Palouse begins and judging by the excitement among our Washington State Coug friends the Mike Leach era in Pullman, Washington promises to be great fun….

“Just Sit Right Back and You Will Hear a Tale A Tale of a Fateful Trip That Started From This Tropic Port Aboard This Tiny Ship….”

Yes, the Mike Leach-era at Washington State just like the Gilligan’s Island TV series of our youth promises to be GREAT FUN and each week should bring new surprises as Captain Leach tries to right the S.S. Cougar in what is becoming an increasingly very tough conference in the Pac-12.

This summer a former college coach that had some tapes of Texas Tech football under Mike Leach visited Coaches Hot Seat Central and broke down the Red Raiders offense for us during Leach’s 10 seasons in Lubbock and for the first time we feel like we understand what the Pirate is trying to do on offense and why it is so Damn difficult to stop once Leach’s Air Raid offense gets rolling.

What Mike Leach will be able to do at Washington State in both Year 1 and at WSU into the future has been hotly debated at Coaches Hot Seat the past few months BUT the consensus at CHS is now that Mike Leach will…

WIN EARLY

WIN OFTEN

WIN A LOT

….which means Leach will match or surpass the win/loss records he put up in 10 seasons at Texas Tech (84 – 43 – .661 winning percentage – 10 bowl games) and will surpass the records that Mike Price put up as the head coach of the Cougs which included three TEN WIN seasons and two Pac-10 conference titles in 14 seasons in Pullman.

Yes, Washington State under Mike Leach will WIN EARLY, WIN OFTEN and WIN A LOT and the Cougs 2012 schedule will give Leach and WSU a chance to make an early statement in the Pac-12 Conference and believe it or not we have the Cougs going…

8 – 4

….in Mike Leach’s first year on the Palouse!

Can Washington State under Mike Leach in Year 1 on the job REALLY beat Eastern Michigan at home, UNLV on the road, Colorado at home, Oregon State on the road, California at home, UCLA at home, Arizona State on the road and Washington in Seattle in the Apple Cup to finish the season with 8 wins?

YES. PERIOD.

That sound you just heard was Steve Sarkisian letting out a loud “You Gotta Be Shitting Me!” in his office in Seattle pondering the thought of losing to Mike Leach and the Cougs in Leach’s first year at Washington State which will not exactly make Sarkisian a popular fellow at the Washington alumni clubs next offseason!

Whatever happens with Mike Leach in Year 1 at Washington State that The Pirate is now in the Pac-12 Conference promises lots of enjoyable Saturdays in the future as the Air Raid, Palouse Raid or whatever they are going to call Leach’s offense as the Cougs play their Fall Saturdays in the great stadiums of the Pac-12 for the foreseeable future we for one welcome Mike Leach to the West Coast and Pac-12 Conference and wish The Pirate and his football team the Best of Luck!
