Coaches Hot Seat Analysis: Beyond the gaudy overall record that Chip Kelly has put up in three seasons at Oregon…
34 – 6 (.850)
….one of the most stunning number is Oregon’s Pac-10/12 conference record in Kelly’s three seasons in Eugene:
25 – 2 (.926)
To put Chip Kelly’s Pac-10/12 Conference record into perspective the coach that preceded Kelly at Oregon, Mike Bellotti, put up a Pac-10 Win/Loss conference record up with the Ducks of:
72 – 43 (.626)
…in 14 seasons at the school which is an average of…
3 losses per season
….and Chip Kelly is not even averaging 1 loss a season in conference play!
Oh, by the way, Chip Kelly’s two losses to Pac-10/12 foes were to…
2011 – USC in Eugene
2009 – Stanford in Palo Alto or rather on The Farm
An often debated question here at Coaches Hot Seat is can Chip Kelly keep the Duck-Train rolling in Eugene and the unanimous consensus here at CHS is that we don’t see anything slowing down Oregon football under Chip Kelly BUT the Oregon Ducks themselves by the players making Stupid Decisions OR the coaches breaking NCAA rules and getting the football program putting on probation.
In 2012 Oregon football should have another good shot of running the table and we only see one team on the schedule that can outscore the Ducks…
USC at the LA Coliseum on Saturday November 3
…which means that Oregon is most likely looking at a….
12 – 0 OR 11 – 1
…season again in 2012 which should put Oregon right back in the running for the Bogus BCS national title.
The Chip Kelly Duck-Train is Rolling Round the Bend and They Haven’t Seen the Sunshine in Eugene Since We Don’t Know When (Well, actually the summers are pretty nice in Eugene, but once the rain arrives in late September…Oh, it’s Damn Ugly for us Sun Lovers at CHS!)….
Speaking of Johnny Cash as Coaches Hot Seat travels throughout the Great American West this summer and navigate the highways and roads in this beautiful country of OURS we have music like this playing and don’t you just love the comment made in the below BBC special on the Great Johnny Cash?
“Johnny Cash is a two-word answer for why it is still good to be an American.”
