What About Major College Football and MCF for the New Postseason Playoff Format That Begins in 2014? – Week 4 Coaches Hot Seat MUST WIN Games for Coaches and Teams – 15 Coaches and Teams Facing MUST WIN Games In Week 4

The College Conference Commissioners are meeting in Chicago this week to hash-out many of the issues around the upcoming 4-team playoff that starts in the 2014 season and thankfully there are people like the good folks at CBS Sports and Dennis Dodd that continue to stay all over this story for college football fans everywhere:

Pretty much everything we are reading about the plans for the Postseason 4-Team Playoff starting in 2014 sounds great to us here at Coaches Hot Seat and in this CBS Sports story…

Commissioners considering adding another game to new playoff format, CBS Sports

….it is reported that there has been some discussion among the commissioners (and no doubt TV people) about what the new Playoff Format will be called and here is the Coaches Hot Seat two cents and suggestion on that front.

The teams now playing football in the FBS (formerly I-A) division should change the name of their football division to:

Major College Football or MCF for short

As for the Postseason Playoffs it could be called the…

Major College Football Playoffs

…and the 4 games could be called the…

Major College Football Final Four

The Final Game of the season could be called the….

Major College Football National Championship Game

OR

MCF National Championship Game

Of course, some talented graphical artists could run with the Major College Football name and an innovative MCF logo and really being to build a new and strong brand for the highest level of college football in America and build a strong identity for the new college football playoff system as well.

That is just OUR two cents here at Coaches Hot Seat AND if the “Powers That Be” want to use our suggestion of….

Major College Football and/or MCF

Major College Football Playoffs and/or MCF College Football Playoffs

Major College Football Final Four and/or MCF College Football Final Four

Major College Football National Championship Game and/or MCF National Championship Game

….we only ask that the organization that is going to run this new college football postseason playoff structure make an annual donation from the proceeds of the event to the…

Wounded Warriors Project

…because as we here at Coaches Hot Seat see personally when visiting Veterans Hospitals around America there are Tens of Thousands of Wounded Warriors that will need lots of help that is very Damn expensive help for decades to come and God Bless you brave men and women that served our country so bravely!

Week 4 Coaches Hot Seat MUST WIN Games for Coaches and Teams

15 Coaches and Teams Facing MUST WIN Games In Week 4

Joker Phillips, Kentucky vs. Florida – Now at 1 – 2 on the season and looking at a daunting upcoming schedule Joker Phillips and his Wildcats face a MUST WIN Game in Week 4 against Florida in The Swamp and that is not a mission we would wish on our worst enemy and the Vegas boys recognize how difficult this game will be for Kentucky with the Gators now a 24 point plus favorite. Ouch or as our commanders in the US Military used to tell us when we were headed out for a difficult mission:

“Good Luck you Bastards. Now if we don’t hear from you guys in a day or two we will hope for the best and sadly….brace for the worst which translated into “civilian” means if you don’t make it back we are going to have a Helluva time finding people to sit in on for you guys on our Saturday night poker games!”

Will Muschamp, Florida vs. Kentucky – Nah…..Florida CANNOT possibly lose to Kentucky as 24 point plus favorites in The Swamp…..right? Hey, in Week 1 the Gators struggled with Bowling Green into the fourth quarter and Kentucky surely is better than Bowling Green….right? This Kentucky – Florida game is important for one MAIN reason: LSU is coming to Gainesville on October 6 and the Gators would love to be undefeated when those Pompous Arrogant Asses from Baton Rouge roll into town and then take down those Tigers down a notch or two! Oh, that October 6 game between LSU and Florida is shaping up to be a Damn interesting football game!

Bret Bielema, Wisconsin vs. UTEP – So far in 2012 Wisconsin looks like a team that has the players doing the coaching while the UW coaches have just gone fishing and now at 1 – 1 (SHOULD BE 0 – 2!) the Badgers have Mike Price’s UTEP team rolling into Madison and this will only be an important game for Bret Bielema IF Wisconsin loses it because if the Badgers flop-around and lose to the Miners Bret Bielema is going to be the first coach in Coaches Hot Seat history to go from playing in the Rose Bowl to finding his ass in the Hot Seat 3 games later. Didn’t Bielema get married in the offseason and Bret is now 1 – 1 as a married man? Uhhhhh, Bret a little piece of advice from us here at CHS that have been married longer than we would like to admit to….

“If you don’t have a job the wife tends to get unhappy so tell the new wife that you have lots of work to do to get the Wisconsin football team back on track and playing FOOTBALL again and she will say go coach those Boys up…..that is if she believes you keeping your job is important!”

Kirk Ferentz, Iowa vs. Central Michigan – Over the last three seasons Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz has put up records of…

Overall:  17 – 12
Big Ten:  8 – 8

….and correct us if we are wrong but is there ANYONE on Planet Earth that believes the above kind of records is acceptable for a coach making…

$3.65 Million Dollars a year?

Oh, Kirk Ferentz, his agent and his family are the ONLY people on Planet Earth that are nodding and saying YES?

YES…that makes sense.

Sorry, but this fellow…

…could have put up records of…

Overall:  17 – 12
Big Ten:  8 – 8

….over the last 2 plus seasons and he would have only wanted a few thousand Dollars worth of bananas to eat and place to lay his head at night!

In 2012 the Iowa Hawkeyes are again slow out of the gate with…

A close win over Northern Illinois
A loss to Iowa State
A sloppy win over Northern Iowa

…and here comes a head coach with his team into town this week that is on the Hot Seat, Dan Enos and Central Michigan, and if Kirk Ferentz wants to find out again what finding his ass on the Hot Seat feels like then lose this game to CMU Kirk!

Mike Riley, Oregon State vs. UCLA – We are going to let everyone in on a little secret about Oregon State head coach Mike Riley:

When Mike Riley is “properly motivated” to coach his football team the Oregon State Beavers are very TOUGH TO BEAT.

Here’s the problem: Mike Riley’s “proper motivation” varies quite a bit from…

Very Damn Motivated

TO

Oh, Whatever

….for a variety of reasons from personal tragedies, issues at Oregon State and sometimes a lack of an intense interest in the game which has led to Mike Riley’s Oregon State teams struggling a good bit since the 2008 season which is in our opinion the last time that Mike Riley was “properly motivated” for EVERY GAME on the schedule.

Hey, we have a lot of respect for Mike Riley and if Mike needs anything that we have or can get him he could have it in a second….BUT…..if Mike Riley is not going to be in our opinion “properly motivated” to coach his football team then what the Hell is the point of Riley continuing to be the head coach at Oregon State?

As for this game on Saturday the UCLA Bruins have played well in their first three games and if they keep playing well they have a chance to run off several wins in a row against Oregon State, at Colorado, at California, Utah, at Arizona State, Arizona, at Washington State before playing USC and Stanford to end the season.

If Oregon State plays like they did against Wisconsin and gets after the Bruins on both sides of the ball they will have a good chance to beat UCLA….BUT if they aren’t motivated the Bruins will move to 4 – 0.

Bill O’Brien, Penn State vs. Temple – Staring at 8 Big Ten games after this Saturday’s matchup against Temple if Bill O’Brien wants to take Penn State football in a new direction beating Temple will be very important because a loss in this spot will almost guarantees a losing season for the Nittany Lions in 2012 and a win against the Owls will give Penn State some motivation going into conference play. The next game is ALWAYS the most important game and that is doubly important with Penn State against Temple this week.

Charlie Weis, Kansas vs. Northern Illinois – Charlie Weis is about to find out over the next 9 games what playing without a lot of talent is like as compared to the decent amount of talent he had at Notre Dame when Weis arrived in South Bend and the Vegas Boys know who the REAL favorite is in this game because Northern Illinois is a NINE PLUS POINT favorite over Big 12 Conference member Kansas. Here’s the REAL problem for Charlie Weis and the Jayhawks…..IF they lose to Northern Illinois they have left…

At Kansas State
Oklahoma State
At Oklahoma
Texas
At Baylor
At Texas Tech
Iowa State
At West Virginia

….AND ALL of the above teams are BETTER than Northern Illinois. Oh, it looks like it is going to be a long football season in Lawrence….BUT….basketball season is just around the corner!

Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

Robb Akey, Idaho vs. Wyoming – After getting obliterated by LSU in Week 3 to drop to 0 – 3 on the season this Saturday’s game against Wyoming is important for Robb Akey and Idaho because if the Vandals want any chance to get to 6 wins in 2012 they MUST BEAT Wyoming.

Dave Christensen, Wyoming vs. Idaho – Luckily for Idaho head coach Robb Akey the Wyoming team that the Vandals MUST BEAT started the 2012 season 0 – 3 after losses to Texas, Toledo and I-AA Cal-Poly which really does make this game against Idaho a MUST WIN for the Cowboys and their head coach Dave Christensen.

Jeff Tedford, California vs. USC – The California Golden Bears opened the 2012 season with…

A Loss to Nevada
A Win over I-AA Southern Utah
A Loss to Ohio State

….so California has LOST to the only two legitimate teams it has played this year and here comes a trip to the LA Coliseum to play the just “Got the Hell Beat Out Of Them” USC Trojans. Jeff Tedford and Cal REALLY need to win this game because of what comes next….

Arizona State
UCLA
At Washington State
Stanford
At Utah
Washington
Oregon
At Oregon State

Oh, that’s a tough schedule and if Cal loses to USC that will run their record to…

1 – 3

….and they will need to win 5 or their last 8 games just to get to a bowl game BUT from what we hear from our Cal-alum friends the new Standard of Excellence in Berkeley is….

6 – 6 and a trip to a bowl game!

YES, that sound you hear is the American Republic crumbling around all of us as excellence is continued to be ground down into mediocrity or in other words in the land of the Nuts in the Broken State of California:

“Everyone’s a Winner AND Everyone Gets a Trophy!”

Just for THAT we had to move our children out of California because we just COULD NOT let our children be raised as Candy Asses that are taught by teachers and most adults in the state that “Everyone’s a Winner” whether they are a winner or not!

Sorry, we KNOW from experience that when human beings learn the most is….AFTER THEY HAVE LOST….and when kids are taught that “Everyone’s a Winner” it only destroys society and if it spreads wide enough it will take down the American Republic.

Lane Kiffin, USC vs. California – Oh, Geez, here we go again…

Lane Kiffin gets injury question, walks out on press conference, College Football Talk

….as IF in the Fantasyland that Lane Kiffin lives in one player or a dozen players being injured will make a difference in an upcoming game.

Please, you really have to be a MORON to worry about the news media reporting on the injury status of a player and if a player is hurt so bad that he will not be able to play either 100 percent or very Damn close to 100 percent then he has no Damn business playing in games and thus why the Stupidity of college coaches hiding injuries and NOT just telling the Damn TRUTH and playing healthy players and sitting injured players.

YOU have who YOU have for each game and once the game starts no one gives TWO RIPS about who is not in the game because of injury because if they have a Lick of Common Sense they are too Damn focused on trying to WIN THE DAMN FOOTBALL GAME!

If Lane Kiffin had the maturity of an 8 year old he would have would have just TOLD THE TRUTH about the injured player that was asked about after practice and moved the Hell on and since USC has three to four times as much talent as California if they are that Damn paranoid about a few injured players then there are some folks in the USC athletic department that need to check themselves into the local loony bin!

As for this game against California IF USC loses to Cal….

Lane Kiffin is going on the HOT SEAT!

Not that we expect USC to lose this game mind you since the Trojans are almost 17 point favorites over Cal and they have plenty of talent to overcome the massive amount of immaturity on the sidelines!

Gene Chizik, Auburn vs. LSU – Talk about the worst MUST WIN Game situation of ANY coach in Week 4 Gene Chizik and Auburn are having to play and beat…

LSU

….and if that isn’t a Helluva challenge then we don’t know what is!

Here’s the problem for Gene Chizik:

IF Auburn loses to LSU on Saturday then Gene Chizik’s record at Auburn will be….

WITH Cam Newton as Quarterback – 14 – 0 (.000)

WITHOUT Cam Newton at Quarterback – 17 – 13 (.567)

With Auburn still having to play this season…

Arkansas
At Ole Miss
At Vanderbilt
Texas A&M
New Mexico State
Georgia
Alabama A&M
Alabama

….we would recommend that Gene Chizik and his Auburn Tigers start finding some wins because we ONLY see two more guaranteed wins against New Mexico State and Alabama A&M and that equals 3 wins counting the win over La. Monroe AND anything less than 7 wins in 2012 and Gene Chizik will be on the Hot Seat going into the 2012 season!

John L. Smith, Arkansas vs. Rutgers – The word from our friends in northwest Arkansas is that the Arkansas football program is in Complete Disarray and Spiraling Down Into Oblivion and here comes a pretty good Rutgers team into Fayetteville and if this isn’t a MUST WIN Game for John L. Smith and Arkansas then MUST WIN Games DO NOT EXIST!

Here’s why Rutgers is REALLY a MUST WIN Game for Arkansas…what comes next:

At Texas A&M
At Auburn
Kentucky
Ole Miss
Tulsa
At South Carolina
At Mississippi State
LSU

IF Arkansas loses to Rutgers on Saturday we would be surprised if the Hogs win more than 4 games in 2012 and the very scary thing is that what was a team that many thought could play for a Bogus BCS National Championship this season may indeed be a Major Rebuilding Job come December and don’t you just know that a lot of “name” coaches might just shy away from taking over a Major Rebuilding Job in a place where the pressure is going to be Very High when taking over in Fayetteville.

Derek Dooley, Tennessee vs. Akron – Akron is not so much a MUST WIN Game as it is a Better the Hell NOT LOSE Game for Derek Dooley and the Vols because a loss in this spot would be a complete disaster for Tennessee after that 4 th quarter meltdown against the Gators and with the Georgia Bulldogs up next on the docket. Coach hard Derek Dooley!

Bobby Hauck, UNLV vs. Air Force – Bobby Hauck won 80 games in 7 seasons as the head coach at Montana BUT Hauck has struggled in his two season at UNLV putting up records of…

Overall:  4 – 24
MWC:  3 – 12

Bobby Hauck can coach the game of football BUT UNLV is a place where it takes a combination of great coaching and incredible motivation to make the Rebels into a consistently winning football team and this Saturday’s game against Air Force is a MUST WIN Game for UNLV because of what comes next:

At Utah State
At La. Tech
Nevada
At Boise State
At San Diego State
New Mexico
At Colorado State
Wyoming
At Hawaii

Damn that is one tough schedule that UNLV is playing this year against WAC and MWC conference teams and if Hauck is going to take the Rebels to a bowl game in 2012 they will have to find a way to beat at least 5 teams that have more talent than the Rebels starting with Air Force on Saturday.

Coach hard Bobby!
