…contracts that are given out to Major College Football Head Coaches and look no further than the contract of a newly minted member of the Coaches Hot Seat Top 10 Coaches, Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz, for one of the Stupidest contracts we have ever heard or read about.

“And the answer to that is pretty simple: Kirk Ferentz’s time at Iowa is going to end whenever he wants it to end, because his contract makes firing him virtually impossible for the next six years, minimum. And considering the return on investment and financial obligation it puts on Iowa, it is without a doubt the worst contract in college football.

It’s pretty standard, as gigantic contracts go, and overall it’s for 10 years and roughly $39 million, once all the incentives and bonuses are added up. And yes, $39 million is a lot to commit the University of Iowa to paying, especially considering the nature of the buyout. More on that in a second.
The real killer for Iowa, however, is the buyout, which is set at 75% of his remaining salary, paid monthly. So if Iowa wants to go another route for its head coach, that’s fine. It’ll just owe Ferentz about a quarter-million dollars a month.

Please, is there really someone so Damn Stupid that they would give that kind of a contract to ANYONE on Planet Earth?
YES, that would be Iowa AD Gary Barta and whomever else in the Iowa Administration and Trustees that signed off on this incredibly Stupid contract for Kirk Ferentz that obligates the Iowa football program to pay Ferentz whether Ferentz is doing his job well or not or even coaching at Iowa at not which is not only Completely Absurd is it Incredibly Un-American as well also!

PERFORMING IN OUR JOBS
….and if we stop performing in our jobs for whatever Damn reason we have contracts that will send us on our way with an appropriate BUYOUT that is equal to roughly one year’s salary which is what the SHOULD BE the standard in all collegiate contracts because it sets the appropriate balance between making sure the employee is motivated to perform in his job in the here and now and into the future and it protects both the employee and institution in case something goes wrong and the coach in the case of Kirk Ferentz quits…

Well, we will all get to see if Kirk Ferentz cares if Iowa beats Minnesota on Saturday with a 12:00 PM kickoff on ESPN 2 and if Ferentz is moping around on the Iowa sidelines during the game seemingly wondering in our opinion when the game will be over and he can go to his big home and dream about all of the money Iowa just paid him for a day’s work….around $10,500 A DAY….and also in our opinion how his agent rolled the Buffoons at the University of Iowa OR if Kirk Ferentz actually acts like a live human being that has a pulse and acts like he cares about whether the Hawkeyes beat the Gophers.

Coaches Hot Seat Already in Seattle for the Stanford – Washington Game on Thursday Night
A couple of Coaches Hot Seat members arrived in Seattle on Monday for some pre-arranged business meetings and reported they sat in stunned shock last night at an University Village….
….brewery/bar as they watched the end of the Green Bay Packers – Seattle Seahawks game which of course sent the Seahawks fans into a wild celebration and left the two CHS Members shaking their heads and ordering more cold beer from the waitress!
Luckily the two CHS Members that are in Seattle had YOUR Government spend a lot of money training them on finer points of “intelligence gathering” and they can report that Lane Kiffin has briefed his buddy Washington head coach Steve Sarkisian on what he believes that USC did wrong against Stanford and also on some of the Cardinal’s weaknesses and after the two CHS Members completed their “intelligence gathering” the last couple of days they can report that David Shaw and the Stanford coaches might want to watch our for getting into any tendencies related to offensive formations that almost always lead to certain plays and certain blitz packages that seems to always happen in certain down and distance situations with those blitzes coming from the same players and same direction.
All great coaches scout themselves either with an internal person or in our opinion a better way is with a retired coach that looks for any tendencies or routines that a team falls into that can be exploited by the opposition and we will only say that Stanford football at times under head coach David Shaw has been a touch more predictable on offense than under Jim Harbaugh and we have noticed that opposing coaches at times have their teams prepared for certain formations that seems to bring for the same plays about 80 to 90 percent of the time.
Just something to think about…..for both Stanford football and the Washington Huskies!
If there is one play that Stanford football could add to their playbook with the Great Stefan Taylor in the backfield who in our opinion should be a Heisman Trophy candidate is some kind of Wheel Route play like this one run by LSU:
