What athletic directors, college presidents, interested boosters and fans can do to research some of GREAT Head Coaches leading the above teams is….
Search Google starting with “North Dakota State Football”
….and then hit the North Dakota State Football website and then hit the “Coaches” webpage on that site and then let the REAL researching begin.
As for the Top Teams in the latest I-AA (FCS) Top 25 Rankings there are some GREAT Head Coaches that really know how to coach the game of football that are also GREAT leaders of football programs as well.
Record at North Dakota State: 84 – 32 (.724)
Craig Bohl’s record at North Dakota State especially in the last few years speaks for itself…
84 – 32 (.724)
…including a I-AA (FCS) National Championship in 2011, but Bohl’s EIGHT YEARS at Nebraska under Tom Osborne and Frank Solich speak volumes about where Bohl learned to coach the game of football and it would be hard to do better than learning under Tom Osborne and Frank Solich when Nebraska was winning 10 games a season plus on a regular basis.
Overall Record: 215 – 119 – 5 (.634)
Record at Montana State: 48 – 21 (.696)
Rob Ash has only been at Montana State for only SIX seasons but he has totally transformed the MSU into a winning football program that are playing some of the best football in the country right now on ANY level.
Rob Ash spent 14 seasons coaching Drake football to great success and after moving up to a school in Montana State that could win at the top of I-AA (FCS) football IF they had a head coach that knew how to both coach and run a football program and that is exactly what Ash has done in leading Montana State to new heights and over this past weekend breaking the All Time Wins Record of former MSU head coach and legend Sonny Holland of 47 wins.
YES, we would hire Rob Ash at almost any school in the country especially if you want both a head football coach and class act in every meaning of the words “class act” then Rob Ash is your man.
Overall Record: 117 – 53
Record at Sam Houston State: 27 – 8 (.771)
We got see Willie Fritz’s Sam Houston State team last season during the I-AA (FCS) playoffs and what a FOOTBALL team Fritz had at SHS last year and again in 2012 it looks like Fritz’s team will again be a major player in the I-AA (FCS) playoffs in a couple of weeks time.
Record at Old Dominion: 35 – 9 (.795)
Old Dominion began playing football again in 2009 and head coach Bobby Wilder who came over from his position as offensive coordinator at Maine has done a great job building ODU football from the ground-up and building a winning football program that is now a force on the I-AA (FCS) level. All it takes to find out that Bobby Wilder can coach the game of football is to watch his team play because the Monarchs are just flat-out playing some great football right now.
We could go on doing profiles of all the GREAT Head Coaches leading the Top Teams in I-AA (FCS) football but athletic directors, university presidents, boards of trustees and boosters/fans of I-A (FBS) schools that are looking for or dreaming of a new coach can do that research for themselves!
