2009 Winningest Active Coaches Ranking – Lane Kiffin and his travels… – Meanwhile in the Real World…. – Let’s Hope BOTH the Democrats AND Republicans Got the Right Message From the Massaschusetts Senate Race Last Night – Yes, Let’s Hope So – “The Beast” Is Out of Control and The American People May Have to Take OUR Country Back From These Son of a Bitches
We rank college head football coaches in a lot of different ways here at Coaches Hot Seat but by far our favorite ranking is the Winningest Active Coaches Ranking which ranks the head coaches based on winning percentage. Below are all the college head coaches that coached in the 2009 football season, both current and now fired coaches, and it is interesting to see which coaches have won the most games during their careers. The below ranking is for the coaches entire career both at their current school and in their past jobs. Later this week we will rank the Winningest Active Coaches at their Current School, which is also a fascinating list to look at to compare coaches.

Because we are in the middle of constructing the new Coaches Hot Seat Central and moving both CHS and our businesses/families out of the state of California (Why live in a place that is at war with your business and doesn’t give a damn about your children’s education?) and because there are still a few head coaching jobs to be filled around the country we are going to hold off on the 2009 Post-Season Final Coaches Hot Seat Rankings and our Coaches Hired Analysis for each school with a new coach and an Overall Ranking of the new coaching hires. We will say that this has been one of the most interesting Firing, Hiring, Moving college football coaching periods in recent memory and some of the stories and rumors that we have heard from behind the scenes would be worthy of a book. We have had a lot of debate here at Coaches Hot Seat on whether we should just set-up a webpage dedicated to rumors about coaching jobs, coaches, who is interested in certain jobs, etc., and it has always come down to on whether we could verify many of the rumors and when you get right down to it, it is almost impossible to verify some of these stories we hear. There are so many players working behind the scenes in the college coaching game these days and there is so much disinformation being put out that it is hard to tell solid info from bullshit and we just don’t know if a webpage dedicated to lots of bullshit is the way to go. Now, it would be an interesting webpage to visit, but also a webpage full of a lot of bullshit.
Lane Kiffin and his travels…….
As for the big story of the past week in college football coaching, Lane Kiffin ducking out of Tennessee after only 1 season, we have to give Kiffin credit for some of the absolute bullshit that he was able to spout upon arriving at USC. It takes someone of very special talents to stand up before a crowd and claim that the Tennessee students and fans were mad at Kiffin BECAUSE of the great work that Kiffin and his crew of outlaws were doing in Knoxville. No, Lane, not quite. The Tennessee fans were pissed off Lane because even though you made a complete ass of yourself and embarrassed the University of Tennessee and made AD Mike Hamilton look like the biggest boob this side of……you, it was that they backed you totally and were made to look like complete idiots for putting their faith in you IS THE REASON the Tennessee fans were so pissed off.
We here at Coaches Hot Seat got a gut full of Lane Kiffin during his short stint with the Raiders and very frankly we would not hire the guy to wash our cars, but yet he is the head football coach at USC! What a country we live in!
One of the most interesting articles written about the Lane Kiffin to USC story was by Randy Youngman of the Orange County Register, Kiffin’s posse helped make him USC choice. In that article Youngman wrote:
“After first being rejected by Oregon State’s Mike Riley, Washington’s Steve Sarkisian, Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher and Jacksonville Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio, USC came up with a surprisingly good fifth choice. (The aforementioned technically weren’t offered the job, but they were contacted by USC intermediaries to gauge their interest, according to a USC alumnus with knowledge of the process.)
Kiffin was a good hire more because of the assistants he brought with him — notably, his father, Monte, as defensive coordinator, and Ed Orgeron as recruiting coordinator and defensive line coach — because Lane still is unproven as a head coach after brief stints with the Raiders and University of Tennessee.
It would have been a much better hire if UCLA’s Norm Chow had returned as offensive coordinator, but it’s doubtful Kiffin actually wanted Chow on his staff. It was Athletic Director Mike Garrett who wanted Chow back, an implicit admission that Garrett now wishes Pete Carroll hadn’t chased Chow away after the 2004 national championship season.
Don’t forget, Chow and Kiffin had a strained relationship in their four years together on Carroll’s staff (2001-04) and were seen arguing during the team’s 2004 Orange Bowl practices in Florida. It was after that season that Carroll told Chow he was taking play-calling duties away from him to make Kiffin and Sarkisian co-offensive coordinators, essentially chasing Chow to the Tennessee Titans as offensive coordinator.
It’s clear USC badly wanted Chow on the new staff because its offer reached the $1.5 million-a-year-range during negotiations, according to the alumnus. So money couldn’t have been an issue. My guess is Chow realized it would be tough to work for Kiffin, especially knowing Kiffin wanted to call the offensive plays. And it’s safe to assume Kiffin wasn’t disappointed Chow is staying put.
Interestingly, a few high-powered USC alumni, including former quarterback Pat Haden, billionaire developer Ed Roski and Lakers owner Jerry Buss, were working behind the scenes during the coaching search, making most of the phone calls to potential candidates.
And one of them, according to the alumnus, wrote the check for $800,000 to free Kiffin from his Tennessee contract.”
Former USC QB Pat Haden was involved in bringing Lane Kiffin to USC? Well, that makes sense, since Haden hasn’t said anything of note in years on the Notre Dame football broadcasts where it looks to us he has been muzzled by higher ups at either Notre Dame or NBC. We wonder now that Charlie Weis has been rightfully sent packing from Notre Dame if Haden will actually show up for the Irish broadcasts and SAY SOMETHING THAT ACTUALLY MEANS SOMETHING. Maybe now that Weis is no longer in South Bend Weis’ protectors up the chain of command won’t mind the Haden actually criticizing the Irish head football coach when he makes mistakes, because the last few years have been a complete joke with the NBC broadcasting team being little more than an American version of Pravda covered the Soviet Union.
Pat Haden may have been a Rhodes Scholar but he is the only Rhodes Scholar that we have ever run across that can talk for three hours and SAY NOTHING AT ALL!
As for the other big hitters that were involved in bringing Lane Kiffin to USC, a guy in Kiffin that has an overall record of 12 – 21 (.364) with Oakland and Tennessee, if you want to know why the state of California is so messed up, there really are leading citizens in California that believe in Lane Kiffin ability to lead the USC football program. Yes, that about sums it up, the owner of the Lakers, a Rhodes Scholar and a billionaire believe that Lane Kiffin should have been hired at USC to replace Pete Carroll. Do we need to say anymore about the nuthouse that is California?
Meanwhile in the Real World…..
We certainly hope that both the Democrats AND the Republicans in Washington DC and elsewhere around the United States got the REAL MESSAGE from Scott Brown’s win in Massachusetts Senate Race to replace Ted Kennedy last night. Here’s the REAL MESSAGE:
We as Americans are fed up with all of you SON OF A BITCHES! We are tired of all the bickering and the country swinging from idiots on the right to buffoons on the left and WE WANT YOU TO GET THINGS DONE! When we say WE WANT YOU TO GET THINGS DONE that means we want you to pass common sense health care reform, not the fraudulent and bogus health care reform bills that have passed the US House and Senate. The House and Senate bills DO NOTHING AT ALL to address the biggest problem facing this country, namely that health care costs are out of control that are gutting American small and medium sized businesses. If there really someone stupid enough to believe that the health care bills that are before the Congress will “reduce the deficit” then you are truly a very dumb person, but then these idiots have run the country in the ditch, haven’t they?
If President Obama has a clue and wants to have a successful presidency, which we want him to have, then he should do the following things:
Toss out the current health care bills and start over anew. Get the Democrats and Republicans in the Congress into a room and write down on a piece of paper what a majority of both parties can agree to and then put all of those things into a new bill. What should be on that list? Health insurance company reforms so people cannot be denied insurance because of pre-existing conditions nor can their insurance be cancelled if they get sick. Also, forget about trying to preserve the current health care insurance system in its entirety. All Americans should have the right to either keep their current health insurance OR buy the same health insurance that is offered to members of Congress and federal employees. Every American should have the right to go to a website that looks like and has the same health insurance offerings that the US Office of Personnel Management offers on its website. Insurance Programs/US Office of Personnel Management.
Why in the Hell can’ t every American buy the same exact health insurance that is offered to every member of Congress and federal employee, whether they have health insurance right now or not? There is not good answer to that question except that YOU FOLKS ARE RIGHT! The American People pay for the salaries and insurance of every federal employee and it is AN OUTRAGE that federal employees have access to insurance that Americans do not. Allow ALL AMERICANS BUY THE SAME INSURNACE that all federal employees have access to. How simple is that? Very damn simple and that could be done in less than 6 months.
For Americans that do not have health insurance and do not have the money to buy insurance then we need to work with the states to purchase for them private insurance plans which will be much cheaper than expanding Medicare.
This is very simple you knuckleheads in Washington DC. Quit arguing and bickering and start working for the American people who put ALL OF YOU IN OFFICE! President Obama needs to lock Democrats and Republicans into a room somewhere in DC and tell them that we are not leaving this room until we come up with a health insurance bill that WILL BE GOOD FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, not something that will score points with the groups that fund your bogus elections through campaign contributions (legal bribes as far as were concerned).
Once you get a health care bill passed that actually serves the AMERICAN PEOPLE then President Obama needs to turn to:
An Energy Bill – No, we do not need a bogus “Climate Change” bill with a fraudulent “Cap and Trade”
program to deal with a non-problem, otherwise known as Climate Change or Global Warming. Wake up you idiots, the Earth’s climate has been “changing” for billions of years and if you are stupid enough to actually believe that CO2 is causing the Earth to warm then you are beyond help. What the United States needs is a comprehensive Energy Bill that addresses the 50 plus nuclear plants we need to build, strong programs to encourage the introduction of renewable energy sources (wind, solar, battery, etc.), adoption of T. Boone Pickens’ – Pickens Plan (www.pickensplan.com), an expansion of drilling for oil and natural gas off ALL U.S. shorelines, including California and Alaska and generally we need all the energy, cheap energy, we can get our hands onto in our own country.
Once a comprehensive energy bill is passed and signed into law by the President then the next move should be to move to Wall Street Reform and Tax Reform:
The problem with Wall Street over the past few years wasn’t that we had far too little regulations in place to keep an eyes on those Greedy Bastards on Wall Street but that the regulators are a bunch of buffoons that couldn’t properly regulate a pre-school class forget about a group of people with the highest IQs on the planet. What we need is for the Federal Government and Federal Reserve to start doing their jobs in regulating the banks and the first thing we could do to get things back to some sanity on Wall Street is to reinstall Glass-Steagall Act which was stupidly removed by the Congress 10 years ago.
Wall Street Reform: The Federal Government and Federal Reserve need to do their jobs to regulate and oversee the Greedy Bastards on Wall Street and we need to reinstall the Glass-Steagall Act.
On Tax Reform, if you want to create lots of new jobs in the Untied States then we need to blow up the U.S. Tax Code. We need a tax code for individuals and corporations that can be written onto one page that says…
1 Federal tax with 3 different rates, which means eliminating all of the payroll taxes and just have one Federal tax. The rates would be…
10 percent of the first $50,000 earned by an individual
20 percent of anything earned between $50,001 and $200,000 by an individual
30 percent of anything earned over $200,001 by an individual
No deductions, loopholes or other crapola just a very simple tax code.
For corporations you would have something similar with no deductions, write-offs and all this other crap that just causes companies to spend millions of dollars buying politicians so they can get tax breaks for their company and industry.
One tax rate for all businesses:
20 percent tax rate on profit.
No deductions for anything, just a straight 20 percent tax rate on profit.
Eliminate the Capital Gains Tax and just tax capital gains and dividends as ordinary income with the above individual tax rates.
Any President and Congress that could get the Federal Government to start watching the Greedy Bastards on Wall Street and holding them accountable for their actions and also blew up the current tax code and replaced it with something that we all could understand would go a long ways to reestablishing some credibility with the American People.
OK, after the Congress passed and the President signed into law:
1. A Common Sense Health Care Reform Bill NOT the Bogus Bills that have been passed by the House and Senate
2. A Common Sense Energy Bill NOT the Bogus “Climate Change – Cap and Trade” Bill
3. A Bill mandating the Federal Government and Federal Reserve get on and stay on the Greedy Bastards on Wall Street
4. A Bill that would blow up the current U.S. tax code and replace it with something every American could understand.
The Congress and President could commit to cut 10 percent from the current US federal budget from 2009 in the 2011 budget. What the idiots in Washington DC do not realize is that when the US Federal Government has to borrow 1 TRILLION PLUS DOLLARS and thus sell that amount of US Treasures into the marketplace all that debt ends up soaking up all the excess capital that normally would be loaned out by banks to small and medium sized businesses. The Federal Government needs to quit spending all this money which is creating massive current account deficits and long-term debt problems which is actually constraining the amount of debt that is available to be loaned in the private sectors to companies that could employ hundreds of thousands of people that right now cannot get access to capital. US banks cannot make loans if they are buying up US Treasuries, which is exactly what they are doing right now, taking the free ride between what they are borrowing money from the Federal Reserve for, .25 percent, and what US Treasuries are paying. That cannot continue and the way to stop it is TO QUIT SPENDING SO MUCH MONEY AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL YOU IDIOTS!
Once all the above things have been done then President Obama needs to get Republicans and Democrats together and establish two commissions that can work through and come up with solutions to the huge problems and unfunded mandates in the Social Security and Medicare, Medicaid and other federal health care programs. One commission would work on long-term solutions to Social Security and the other on federal health care issues, because if these problems are not solved, as detailed very accurately by the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, the United States will be in bankruptcy in the next 25 years.
Besides doing or starting all of the above the Congress should pass all the appropriations bills for 2011 before the Labor Day weekend so that they can show that Congress actually works and so that all Americans will be able to look at and evaluate each appropriation bill for its spending and worthiness.
Will the President and Congress do all or any of the above things? We rather doubt it, because the same buffoons that let the Greedy Bastards on Wall Street run wild, that set up Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to fail and create hundreds of billions in losses for the American people, that have piled up 13 TRILLION IN FEDERAL DEBT, and have otherwise run the United States into the ditch, don’t really give a damn about the American People. They care about politics, who’s up and who’s down, which political party is up or down a particular time, the rumors on the cocktail circuits, allowing lobbyists to buy them off so they can guarantee they will have plenty of money to get reelected, and other such nonsense.
No, we rather doubt that anything will change in Washington DC, at least in the short-term. As for the long-term, we have a warning to all elected officials but especially to the son of a bitches that actually run the country. You thought the President, the Congress and the Supreme Court ran the United States of America? Please, are you that foolish? The Greedy Bastards on Wall Street, the blood-sucking and Congress buying lobbyists that often work for very large corporations and even foreign governments that often have opposite goals of the United States, the largest corporations in America, trial lawyers, public and private unions, and other special interest groups are the folks that really run the United States and our warning is especially to you evil sobs. If you keep it up, the American People are going to rise up and not only throw out a number of House members and Senators, but you fools may also wake-up one day and find a Third Party candidate sitting in the White House as well. Of course, if a Third Party candidate is sitting in the White House then that means he will also have control of the entire executive branch of the government including the Justice Department. We can imagine that an Attorney General that was selected by a Third Party candidate would not be beholden to you evil sobs and that means you would probably find federal grand juries being seated in lower Manhattan and Washington DC looking into all the goings on with the Greedy Bastards on Wall Street and in Washington DC over the past few decades. Now, we know you don’t want that to happen….
Our recommendation to the sobs that really run the country: Keep up your bullshit if you like, buying Congress and other elected officials and otherwise all the crap you have been pulling for the last few decades, but be warned the American People will not tolerate this bullshit much longer. Yes, the election of a Republican Senator in a place like Massachusetts should be a HUGE FLASHING RED LIGHT to the buffoons of both parties that have run the United States in the ditch while you son of bitches are living high on the hog lobbying Congress and trading paper on Wall Street, neither of which does anything for the average American.
Yes, Richard Nixon had it right over 35 years ago, the Beast that runs the United States is very powerful, but now it is not only powerful the Beast is at war and working against the American People at every turn, and that is something that clearly cannot continue forever. 10+ unemployment rates and governments on every level doing their damndest to make the lives of Americans as hard as possible cannot continue forever, and it won’t. Maybe we are coming to a time when we need a political party that will actually represent and work for the American People instead of working against them. Yes, we are at that time because it is very clear that these stupid sobs in Washington are going to keep bickering, keep arguing, and doing everything they can do to punish the American People while making the bastards on Wall Street and their good friends very rich. No, that will not continue forever and if a Republican Senator being elected from Massachusetts doesn’t wake you up, nothing will.
