Why Did ESPN Make A BIG Change To the Original Story About the Meeting Between Manti Te’o and Jeremy Schaap and NOT Tell the Readers They Made That BIG Change? – Isn’t That Journalism 101? – Oh, Journalism Is NOT Practiced In America Anymore…Except At Places Like Deadspin.com? – YES, That Makes Perfect Sense! – Speaking of Deadspin.com the Boys Weighed in on the Manti Te’o – Jeremy Schaap LOVE-IN and We Would Recommend That the Mainstream Media Keep Digging Because You Might Just Get Scooped Again and This Time….It Will Be REALLY Damn Embarrassing!

Forgive us for not understanding the vagaries of revising news stories but isn’t it commonplace and even required by the “rules of journalism” (such as they are these days) to note to the readers when you make a significant change to a news story?

Newstand

We have read thousands of news stories over the years where the reporter or an editor has noted at the bottom of a story when a change has been made to the original version of the story and yet in a story written by someone at ESPN (the story has no byline) about the “off-camera” interview (“off-camera” = Bogus) between Manti Te’o and Jeremy Schaap there was a very significant change to the original story that ESPN did not bother to point out to the reader but through the miracles of the Internet we can now show to everyone and do the job that ESPN refused to do which is note that very significant change to the reading public.

Here is the link to the news story on the meeting between Manti Te’o and Jeremy Schaap that is the “revised” story…

Manti Te’o denies being part of hoax, ESPN.com

….and below are screenshots from the original ESPN story and the “revised” ESPN story and note the part of the story we are focused on which begins with…

“In the interview, Te’o also said that:”

Original ESPN story on Te’o and Schaap meeting:

JSESPNA

Revised ESPN story on Te’o and Schaap meeting:

JSESPNB

Note the BIG difference between the two stories?

Of course you do because in the original ESPN story someone at ESPN wrote….

A group of people, including a woman claiming to be Kekua, showed up at the team hotel for the Discover BCS National Championship in Miami. Te’o said he knew they were there because the group took photos in the lobby of the hotel. Te’o said it affected his play in the game, where Notre Dame lost to Alabama 42 – 14.”

In the revised ESPN story someone at ESPN changed the above to….

“A group of people related to Tuiasosopo showed up at the team hotel for the Discover BCS National Championship Game in Miami. Te’o said he knew they were at the hotel because the group took photos in the hotel lobby. Te’o said it affected his play in the game, where Notre Dame lost to Alabama 42 – 14.”

Call the people here at Coaches Hot Seat that used to work in intelligence while in the US Military…

Very Damn Suspicious

…of the above NOT-noted change to the ESPN story on the meeting between Manti Te’o and Jeremy Schaap because it is NO Damn small detail that Manti Te’o told Jeremy Schaap that…

“A group of people, including a woman claiming to be Kekua, showed up at the team hotel for the Discover BCS National Championship in Miami.”

….which in our opinion HAS TO BE what Manti Te’o said and yet the above was taken out of the original story for some reason and changed to something completely different that has nothing to do with Manti Te’o’s fake and non-existent girlfriend “Kekua” showing up in Miami in early January with a “group of people.”

Why did ESPN change the original story and at this moment in time not make a note that the original story was changed?

Our opinion here at Coaches Hot Seat: Because the original story that Te’o’s fake and non-existent girlfriend was in Miami and even at the Notre Dame hotel with a “group of people” in early January was a LIE on top of LIE on top of another LIE and of course this is also the point where Manti Te’o blames his bad play against Alabama on the entire fake girlfriend “hoax” incident which makes perfect Damn sense since someone that had a non-existent and fake girlfriend would of course be looking for reasons why his Sorry Ass played so poorly against a superior team that just FLAT-OUT whipped he and the Notre Dame football team.

The most interesting thing as we read over some of the columns and news stories about the meeting between Manti Te’o and Jeremy Schaap (don’t call it an interview since it was nothing more than a propaganda piece with Jeremy Schaap playing the role of the STOOGE) is that there are plenty of people in the news media that are actually willing to believe Manti Te’o when he says that he was not involved in this fake girlfriend that he never met scam which is Very Damn Fascinating in its own way since it was many of those Very Damn Same People in the news media that fell for the original scam!

One of the few legitimate news organizations left in America today that you can actually believe…

Deadspin.com

…weighed in on the Manti Te’o – Jeremy Schaap meeting…

In ESPN Interview, Manti Te’o Admits To “Tailoring His Stories,” Says He Wasn’t Convinced Lennay Kekua Was Fake Until Wednesday, Timothy Burke and Jack Dickey, Deadspin.com

…..and the last paragraph in the above Deadspin.com piece should send chills down the back of Manti Te’o and the vast majority of the mainstream media that would in our opinion sell out the futures of their own children to get Manti Te’o back up onto some kind of pedestal and for what twisted reasons they want Te’o back up that pedestal so badly we cannot really comprehend:

“As for what Te’o wants for Tuiasosopo, he told Schaap “I don’t wish an ill thing to somebody. I just hope he learns. I think embarrassment is big enough.” Manti Te’o’s apparent defense is that he had no reason to think his twice-undead dead long-distance girlfriend, whom he never met or saw outside of photographs, whose funeral he never thought to attend, might have been a phony. Regardless of whether he’s telling the truth, he’ll soon see just how big embarrassment can get.”

Oh, what was that again from Deadspin.com?

“Regardless of whether he’s telling the truth, he’ll soon see just how big embarrassment can get.”

Uh – Freaking – Oh!

Maybe in meeting No. 2 between Manti Te’o and Jeremy Schaap which will no doubt take place in a dark parking garage at night with no still photos, no one taking notes, no one recording voices and Jeremy only being allowed to ask three questions in 5 minutes time which are conditions that no doubt the imposter that has taken over Jeremy Schaap’s body will quickly agree to (Come on the REAL Jeremy Schaap would have told Te’o’s handlers to stuff their conditions for the meeting on Friday night where the Sun Doesn’t Shine while the new Jeremy Schaap is a Candy Ass Pussy that is now tarnishing the Schaap name that Dick Schaap built-up with 40 years plus of hard work!) and in that second meeting no doubt Manti Te’o will clear everything up for everyone!

NOT!

We also note that Deadspin.com also noticed that ESPN didn’t tell the readers that they made significant changes to their original story about the meeting between Manti Te’o and Jeremy Schaap (From Deadspin.com story above):

“Update (2:34 a.m.): ESPN has removed all references to the woman claiming to be Lennay showing up at the team hotel from its online story. There is no explanation, note, or correction in their story.”

Oh, I guess it doesn’t matter since for Manti Te’o and the scammers of the “hoax”….

“Regardless of whether he’s telling the truth, he’ll soon see just how big embarrassment can get.”

Meanwhile on one of those ESPN channels of the Worldwide Leader that evidently didn’t have an extra video camera around to tape the meeting between Manti Te’o and Jeremy Schaap we are watching Roger Federer whipping up on Bernard Tomic in the Australian Open with Chris Fowler and one of the McEnroe boys on the call and at least on this channel ESPN is doing some great work!

What the Hell.  Below is the trailer and a few clips from Oliver Stone’s Nixon which is the 5th best political movie ever made  As one of our political science professors in college told us 30 plus years ago:  “You cannot understand America in the 20th century unless you understand the life, the ambition, the drive, the motives, the good, the bad and the evil of Richard Nixon.”  So Damn true.  Enjoy!
