It Was Never About the “Punch” With Oregon’s LeGarrette Blount – “Just the Facts Ma’am” OR In This Case “Let’s Go to the Tape” – What Kind of Lesson Will It Be For Our Young People If Blount is Reinstated? = A Terrible One – We Here at CHS Would Have Been Gone Before the Bus Left the Stadium – Do What You Like Ducks, But…. – President Obama to Copenhagen? Someone Cue Forrest Gump, Because the White House Staff Needs A Lesson In How NOT To Be Stupid When Laying the Reputation of the President AND Thus the Nation On the Line – We Can Already See the Commercial AND It’s Never Good To Be Hobnobbing with Euro Elite With the Unemployment Rate Going UP!

It was fascinating watching Oregon head coach Chip Kelly in his press conference on Friday talking about the possible reinstatement of LeGarrette Blount.  It was in that very same media room only 4 weeks ago that Chip Kelly said there was “No” chance that LeGarrette Blount could return to the Oregon football team in 2009, but here was Chip Kelly completely contradicting himself over what seemed to be a settled issue.  As we said in this blog just after the incident with LeGarrette Blount, the “punch” of the Boise State player after being taunted was not the reason why Blount was suspended from the Oregon football team, but rather what happened after the “punch.”  Since people across the media keep talking and writing only about the “punch” it will be up to us to remind everyone of what really happened that night in Boise when LeGarrette Blount went out of control and put his own life and the lives of lots of other people in danger with his violent, foolish and incredibly immature actions.

As Sergeant Joe Friday used to say, “Just the facts ma’am” or rather in this case, “Let’s go to the tape”:

As everyone can plainly see, the “punch” by LeGarrette Blount is only a small part of his violent and outrageous behavior in Boise, so let’s make sure everyone has a full accounting of Blount’s actions so that everyone that is pleading with Chip Kelly to reinstate this guy knows what he really did:

LeGarrette Blount’s Actions

1.  The “punch” to the Boise State player

2.  Having to be held back by Oregon players and told to leave the field

3.  Punching an Oregon player (a member of his own team!) because he was being held back from doing more fighting

4.  Blount is then told by his head coach Chip Kelly to leave the field, which he does not do, directly contradicting his head coach.

5.  Blount is being escorted off the field by Oregon assistant Scott Frost and he goes over to a group of Boise fans and tries to fight some more

6.  Blount is dragged away by assistant Scott Frost and told to leave the field, but he disobeys a second Oregon coach and struggles to fight more people

7.  Oregon assistant, stadium security and the police tell Blount to stop and get off the field, but he continues to try and break free to continue fighting

9.  LeGarrette Blount has to dragged off the field at Boise by 5 or more people, including an Oregon assistant who he continues to disobey

10.  Blount pushes at police officers, Oregon players and Oregon officials as he is dragged out of Boise stadium

Now can all the hypocrites in the media that are so quick to forgive Blount for his outrageous actions actually start talking about the truth instead of the bullshit they have been spewing on TV and in the newspapers in the last day or so?  We aren’t counting on that, because all of the media members, especially former players and coaches know full well that if they had done what Blount had done in Boise they would have been tossed from their football team or school in a split second, but they want dare speak the truth in public.  Why is that?  Some of these people really believe that what LeGarrette Blount did wasn’t that bad.  Those people need real help.  Others are afraid for politically-correct reasons.  These people need some guts.  As for us here at Coaches Hot Seat, there is a chance in Hell that any of our former coaches would have allowed us to stay on the team or probably even in school if we had done something like the bullshit that LeGarrette Blount pulled at Boise, but then we didn’t grow up in times when people wanted to protect these precious little football players that shouldn’t be blamed for the behavior.

That is an outrageous attitude, when we have brave young men and women that are serving in the US military around the world that would give almost anything to attend a college like Oregon, much less be on a scholarship and play a sport.  The bastards that are so willing to forgive LeGarrette Blount live in a fantasyland where anything can be forgiven, because the “kids” shouldn’t be blamed for their actions, because their “kids.”  That is bullshit and if LeGarrette Blount can get away with what he got away with in Boise (yes, he got away with it because he is still on scholarship, still on the team, and still in school), then the worst of America will have come out on top, where disrespectful and violent behavior will so easily be forgiven.  What kind of message do you think that sends to the young people in our country that you can so brazenly disregard the direction of  their head coach, an assistant coach, and even police officers but still retain a scholarship and possibly be reinstated to a sports team?  We will tell you what kind of lesson it teaches them:  There is no longer a standard of behavior in America and if Blount can get away with his actions, then young people can act in the same way and point to the University of Oregon and say, “Hey, Blount got away with it, why not me?”

You bastards.  You hypocrites.  What an outrageous example that both Blount, maybe even Chip Kelly, Mike Bellotti, the University of Oregon president, and anyone else that will excuse LeGarrette Blount’s behavior.  One thing for sure, we would never excuse that kind of behavior with our children, and we would remove them from any sporting team and school if necessary to teach them that their bad behavior and the way that Blount acted in Boise was not only inappropriate, but completely unacceptable.

Be proud all of you that so easily forgive poor little LeGarrette Blount, although how anyone can forgive an almost 23 year old man for the way he behaved when we have men and women at least 5 years younger serving in war zones on the other side of the globe just defies all belief and logic.  It has gotten so bad in the media, that many have made Blount out to almost be a victim that has somehow been wronged by Oregon, when in fact it was Blount who acted badly embarrassing everyone from himself to his school.  One can only wonder what Blount’s parents think of his actions, because we here at Coaches Hot Seat know that if our sons had done what Blount did in Boise he would known to be very fearful of what would happened when we got a hold of him that night.  No, we would not have been appealing to Chip Kelly and Mike Bellotti to get our sons reinstated, because we would have been ashamed of our children’s behavior and thankful that their coaches took a strong stand against such outrageous behavior.

Let’s not forget one of the worst things that LeGarrette Blount did in Boise was to disobey the direction of his head football coach Chip Kelly to leave the field and then to disobey the direction of an Oregon assistant coach.  Maybe Chip Kelly thinks that Blount disobeying his direction and the direction of an assistant on the Oregon staff is a trivial matter, but we can tell you that if any of us here at CHS had even disobeyed the direction of our coaches, forget the fighting, we would have been tossed from our sports’ teams in a millisecond.  Such is the hypocrisy of 2009, when a football player can act in a violent and outrageous way and be forgiven for that behavior because poor little LeGarrette Blount didn’t know what he was doing.

Let’s see what poor little, almost 23 year old, LeGarrette Blount said in the lead-up to the Boise State game:

“It’s definitely getting a lot more intense,” senior running back LeGarrette Blount said. “Our practices are becoming a lot faster just because of the anticipation of Boise, the fact that everybody wants to get back at Boise from last year when they stole one from us.”

Generally, Kelly’s players have followed suit and haven’t provided too much locker room material for Boise State. Blount, however, was quoted in Sports Illustrated as saying, “We owe that team an ass-whuppin.”

“I don’t mind it at all. I’m not going to back down from anybody.”

Poor little, almost 23 year old, LeGarrette Blount trash-talking leading up to the Boise State game and not only could he not back up that trash talk, he couldn’t handle it when a Boise player tapped him on the shoulder and reminded him of his comments.  LeGarrette Blount can trash talk with the best of them but when he gets his ass stuffed in a football game and his team gets beat and he then gets reminded of that he responds with violence, and a complete disregard of his head coach and an assistant coach.  On top of that he has to be dragged from the field of play by coaches, security and police.  What?  Can anyone really justify Blount’s behavior in Boise or his comments beforehand?  And is there really is anyone in America with an IQ over room temperature that would allow this guy on their sports team?  If so, you are a fool.

The Univ. of Oregon president, Mike Bellotti and Chip Kelly can do whatever they want with LeGarrette Blount, reinstate him to the team or not, but let’s be very clear here, if they do reinstate him to the Oregon football team and Blount is involved in another incident, the president, Bellotti and Kelly should all be fired on the spot.  If Blount does go off again and the above men are not fired, then the University of Oregon will have shown that it is not an institution of higher learning but only a place where thugs can be confident they can be thugs and stay in school and on their sports team.  Be proud Oregon, you are building a reputation here and maybe a call to Randy Shannon in Miami is in order to find out how hard it is to lose that reputation once it is in place…

Your choice Duck Boys, but choose very wisely.  LeGarrette Blount is a very lucky man that he has such lenient coaches, because our asses would have been thrown off the team before the bus left the stadium, but then that is the difference between the integrity of our coaches and people that will come with all kinds of excuses for violent and outrageous behavior that if committed by any other student-athlete at a sporting event or by any student on the Oregon campus would have clearly been met with immediate dismissal.  If anyone would like to dispute that reality, then they haven’t a clue to the double-standard that exists at Oregon and many other college football programs when you are talking about someone that can play football and someone that can’t.  Either admit there is a double-standard and you are a hypocrite or keep lying to yourself…  Your choice.

President Obama to Copenhagen?

Talking about a stupid decision, what an incredibly stupid decision it was to send President Obama to Copenhagen to personally lobby for the 2016 Olympic Games.  Anyone that knows anything about the Olympic Games, and we have some experience in that area from the 96 Games in Atlanta, knows that the IOC does not like to pressured or brow beat, which makes Obama’s decision to land like Bigfoot in Copenhagen and smooze maybe the most politically organization on the planet in the IOC was stunningly stupid.  It would have been far better to just send Michelle Obama and the group from Chicago and had the President provide either a videotaped message or a live feed from the White House on the US’s desire to host the 2016 Games.  By flying over the Copenhagen to lobby for the Olympics on the same day that it was reported that more jobs were lost and that the unemployment rate had ticked up in America against was beyond stupid and was made by people that were way out of their element when it comes to the machinations of the Olympics.

Memo to White House staff:  When you lay the President of the United States’ reputation on the line for something you had better damn make sure the President is going to win whatever is at stake, because when the President loses, the whole country loses as well.  This is very simple, if the President goes all out for something, he must win it and that the folks on the White House staff didn’t have the vote count of the IOC nailed down before they let Obama jet off to Copenhagen is beyond stupid, it is incompetency at the highest levels of our government.  If any of you in the White House need some lessons in politics or have questions about what is and isn’t right to do when you have the reputation of the President and the Republic on the line, feel free to email us at info@coacheshotseat.com.  We aren’t holding our breath checking our email account, because the egos in the West Wing of this White House dwarf the egos of college head coaches, and that means there are some damn big egos working at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue!

If the economy does continue to worsen over the next year, and especially heading into the 2010 mid-term elections, the geniuses in the White House that sent Obama to Copenhagen, including the President himself, may find this little excursion to Europe to lobby for the Olympics will come back to bite them in the ass.  Right now there is at least a 50/50 percent chance that the Democrats will lose the House of Representatives in the 2010 elections and a “more than they think” number seats in the US Senate as well.  Some of things this White House has done, like twisting arms to get that bogus climate bill passed in the US House which is nothing more than a MASSIVE TAX INCREASE upon the American people and even if global warming/climate changed existed (which it doesn’t, check out http://www.climatedepot.com/ if you want facts and not propaganda on the “climate” issue) the House and Senate bills would do next to nothing stop the bogus problem that the wackos want to stop!  Yes, these global warming/climate change folks would be funny, if they weren’t so determined to fleece the American people out of trillions of dollars over a completely bogus issue.  Try to pass that climate bill in the Senate if you like, but you will just add some US Senators the list of Democratic US House members that will be looking for work come November 2010.  Pass the Climate Bill and have President Obama sign it, which is nothing more than a 1 TRILLION DOLLAR TAX INCREASE on the American people, and by 2012 folks will be asking what happened to the Democratic Party.  “Oh, they destroyed California with their stupidity and then a bunch of California Democrats got power in the Congress and they destroyed the Republic as well.”  (Don’t believe that?  Check out what Governor Arnold and the California Democrats have been hiding from the people about the massive costs that their bogus climate bill, AB 32, and the other onerous and outrageous regulations and taxes have been costing California’s economy for years now.  Link to Union-Tribune story.  Oh, Arnold how you love to be loved, but do you really give a damn about the common people?  Not a chance in Hell as is the case with the California Democrats that combined with Arnold have destroyed what used to be one of the greatest economies in the world.  No, the supposed “green” jobs have not and never will even come close to replacing even 10 percent of the jobs and damage that these idiots running the state have done by their outrageous actions.  And the Democrats in Washington D.C. want to do the same for the country?  Not if we and the American people have anything to say about it.)

Getting back to President Obama’s trip to Copenhagen, we can already see the commercial….

Obama hobnobbing with the Euro elitists (commonly referred to as Euro Trash here at CHS) while the country is going down the toilet, all with an ominous voice in the background.

Someone cue Forrest Gump, “Stupid is as……”

Yes, that should make a Hellava commercial for the Republican National Committee, but then can anyone at the RNC even tell you what day of the week it is anymore?  The morons at the RNC make the White House staff look smart, and that is really saying something after this latest escapade.  Damn, we didn’t want to get involved into politics again until we were in our 50s, but sigh…, but with these idiot Republicans and foolish and incompetent Democrats….we may just have to…..

Yes, this is going to be an interesting 2009 – 2010 political season!
