TCU to the Big East Conference – 750 PLUS Miles trips for all of the TCU sports teams? – Yes, that makes perfect sense! NOT!
We certainly don’t blame TCU for heading to the Big East Conference in 2012 but the Complete Absurdity of the Bogus BCS for both football and basketball (In hoops, the BCS bullies also reign, Why E. Gordon Gee’s comments were so myopic, and apply to NCAA basketball as well) was laid out for everyone to see with TCU deciding to join a conference that the closest school is Louisville is over 750 miles away. Yes, that makes perfect sense! NOT!
Here is the new Big East Conference football map with TCU added:
Yes, that makes double-perfect sense! NOT! Just another example of the how stupid and elitist the BCS really is and how it has now forced a school in Texas to join a conference that calls itself the BIG EAST!
Somewhere the ghost of Allan Bloom who 23 years ago decried the “moral relativism” that was coming to dominate our universities in his book The Closing of the American Mind is thinking after seeing TCU join the Big East Conference that these Greedy Bastards that are running our institutions of higher learning have Completely and Totally lost their minds!
No, Professor Bloom, the American Mind is no longer “Closing” it is CLOSED! E. Gordon Gee’s idiotic and totally Un-American comments coupled with this TCU move just shows how warped the minds are of the people that run our colleges and universities really are because anyone that can support the Bogus and Un-American BCS out one side of their mouth and claim they are looking after the best interests of the “student-athletes” on the other have completely lost their minds!
Memo to E. Gordon Gee and others that think that the same Postseason Playoff that is used by the NCAA to crown the champion of every sport in intercollegiate athletics besides football: A Postseason Playoff Tournament in college football that is run by the NCAA would be moving towards honoring the essential nature of what the amateur “student-athlete” and his team should be about and stand for and it is in fact the ESPN-induced and Corporate Money funded meaningless exhibition bowl games and Bogus and Un-American BCS that is driving college football towards “professionalism.” It is the Clueless E. Gordon Gee that will believe anything that is whispered into his ear at a cocktail party while he and his family are on an all-expense paid 10 day vacation (paid for by corporate money) to a meaningless bowl game that is the real problem here, not people that are advocating that the NCAA should be the one running the college football postseason. But then, it would actually take someone with a working brain and someone that is not so mixed-up about what is up or down, right or wrong and other “facts” of life that get tossed in the garbage pale in the Fantasyland of the college campus that is filled with Political-Correctness and little else. The real problem is that E. Gordon Gee is too stupid to realize that just like the Big 12 Chumps that got played for by Fools by the Boys in Austin are the same type of folks that are taking the Gee’s of the world for a ride and the Greedy Bastards that are little more than fronts for corporations and their own pocketbooks must sit back like monkeys and laugh like crazy at what a Complete Idiot that E. Gordon Gee really is. Oh, these college and university crazies are really NUTS!
Most of us here at Coaches Hot Seat were convinced that TCU was headed to the Big East if they were offered the invitation to join after reading the Q&A that Tom Dienhart of Rivals.com had with Gary Patterson last week:
Q-and-A: TCU coach Gary Patterson
“Question: There is talk about TCU joining the Big East. Is that something you would like to see happen?
Gary Patterson: “It has its positives and negatives. You have a chance to be an automatic qualifier. The money is probably 10-to-1 with what we get now. In recruiting, you have changed things because schools hold the fact we don’t play in an automatic qualifying conference against us. We have to earn our right into the game. In the Big East, we wouldn’t have to. I think it helps everybody. But I am a loyal person. I like the people in our conference.
“But we are used to change. I already have been in three conferences. It’s like being a young exec: You have to often move your family to get ahead. I am not saying the Big East is better or worse, but I don’t want to talk badly about the conference we are in.””
The money for TCU in the Big East is “10-to-1” over the MWC?
What the Hell?
Oh, that should get the antitrust folks at the US Justice Department fired up because clearly there is a cartel in intercollegiate athletics (with all of these schools public and private getting US Taxpayer money) that excludes certain I-A teams and we believe that cartel is organized around a central goal of taking as much money as possible and not allowing for a fair and complete competitive marketplace to have the opportunity to exist. Yes, running an organized antitrust cartel in the United States is against US law and is also a felony and it would be hard for us to think of a better example than the “Mob” forcing the hand of TCU in this case to either join the cartel or be left on the outside looking in! TCU in the BIG EAST! Yes, that makes perfect sense!
Oh, this is such great fun as the evidence piles up that the fraudsters that claim to be interested in the “best interests of the student-athletes” are really nothing more than an OPEC cartel in the heart of the United Stated with many of the leading people in intercollegiate athletics (running and working for schools both public and private getting Billions on US Taxpayer money) involved in running what we believe to be an illegal cartel to gain an uncompetitive advantage over other I-A schools and with a Bozo like E. Gordon Gee even coming out and openly talking down those schools as well. Yes, this all makes perfect sense!
Yes, one of the greatest things that could happen to intercollegiate athletics would be for the bullies like E. Gordon Gee to be perp-walked out of Ohio State president’s office to answer for being involved in an illegal anticompetitive cartel that exists to deny the same rights to opportunities that the members of the cartel enjoy.
Oh, that would be a GREAT DAY IN AMERICA!
Getting back to TCU the next couple of questions asked by Tom Dienhart to Gary Patterson are very revealing as well:
“Question: What about joining Big 12?
Gary Patterson: “If you were going to do what was right for college football, that is the best answer. But the problem is, they aren’t knocking on our door. Maybe we are a more viable player if we are in the Big East.”
Question: Is the Mountain West better than the WAC?
Gary Patterson; “I don’t know. I stay out of those conversations. They change year to year.””
Yes, TCU to the Big 12 makes perfect sense but then it is our opinion that the folks that are really running the Big 12 now, no not Dan Beebe and the Big 12 conference office you Fools, but the Boys in Austin, Texas don’t want any more Texas schools in the Big 12 and guess what…
THERE WILL BE NO MORE TEXAS SCHOOLS IN THE BIG 12!
So here we have TCU being formally invited to the Big East by the president of Notre Dame Father John Jenkins and TCU moving to a conference that has schools that are an average of 1000 miles away from the TCU campus!
Yes, that makes perfect sense!
Since there are lots of people here at Coaches Hot Seat that played sports other than football in college on scholarship when we think about all of the other sports besides football and basketball that often travel in pretty good style compared to everyone else it is hard for us to understand what these folks at TCU are thinking (Yes, the “student-athlete” is always put first! NOT!), but then again just shows how Absurd the BCS really is and anyone with a working brain knows that BCS is about one thing and one thing only.
Money and Power or as Gordon Gekko told Bud Fox in Wall Street:
“It’s all about bucks, kid. The rest is conversation.”
It is our opinion that the Greedy Bastards behind the Bogus and Un-American BCS, including this clown disguised as a college president in E. Gordon Gee don’t give two rips about “student-athletes.” The BCS is about taking as much money as possible out of the pockets of Americans while at the same time holding onto power and keeping the NCAA at bay and away from college football because if the NCAA ever got their hands on college football all Americans would find out what a Complete and Utter Fraud the BCS really is and who is really going out the backdoor with all the money that never gets anywhere close to college athletic programs or supports “student-athletes.”
Yes, some of that money goes to kiss the ass of E. Gordon Gee and other college administrators at college football games and golf outings which helps to insure they will be onboard with the Greedy Bastard behind the BCS, but it is only small-change compared to what never gets anywhere near a college campus. Also don’t forget that the NCAA when running postseason tournaments to decide legitimate national championships does not waste money throwing cocktail parties to kiss the asses of the E. Gordon Gee’s of the world and “Wa-La” you have the REAL REASON that Gee wants to kept the Bogus BCS train rolling. You see, Pretty Boy E. Gordon Gee rather likes getting his ass kissed and money being spent on him, especially when it is someone else’s money and if that money would be better spent on intercollegiate athletics than throwing cocktail parties, and it would, E. Gordon Gee and his ilk could care less. Yes, that is our opinion Pretty Boy Gee and here is what we think about Your Sorry Ass Elitist and Very Un-American opinions:
Oh, that felt good!
That reality, which will be opened up to the American People to see and understand (Count on that BCS Bastards either in the next two years or certainly after January 2013), makes the people that support the Bogus and Un-American even bigger CHUMPS than the Big 12 schools that got taken to the cleaners to by the Boys in Austin and both groups have gotten played like First-Class Fools and these people are so Stupid that they blame people other than the one’s that are picking their pockets!
Or as Paul Newman’s character Henry Gondorff says at the end of The Sting after ripping off Doyle Lonnegan for $500K:
“Nice con, Hickey.”
What is that Texas Athletics Network going to generate for the Boys in Austin?
15 MILLION DOLLARS A YEAR!
Longhorn TV network could pay UT $15 million a year
Oh, that was the CON of the century that the Boys in Austin ran on the CHUMPS in the Big 12 and just like Doyle Lonnegan they don’t even know that they got Conned and Big Time!
The Rich Rodriguez Buyout Difference Between Now and January 1, 2011 is $1.5 Million Dollars – OK, we all know that now but what is the real back story?
After writing in this Blog about what is quickly becoming the “Rich Rodriguez $1.5 Million Dollar Difference Buyout Debacle” at the University of Michigan (Rich Rodriguez’s buyout before January 1, 2011 is $4 million and in the New Year is $2.5 million) a good friend of ours in the state of Michigan called and reminded us that there are a lot of people at the University of Michigan that feel like they got “jobbed” when Rodriguez came over from West Virginia and the Boys and Girls in Ann Arbor had to pick up $2.5 million of Rodriguez’s $4.0 buyout with WVU! Here’s the story on that Rodriguez to Michigan debacle from July 9, 2008:
Michigan to pay $2.5M, Rodriguez $1.5M to satisfy WVU buyout
Our good friend in the state of Michigan reminded us that if the Boys and Girls in Ann Arbor fired Rich Rodriguez right now they would have to pay him….
$4 MILLION Right Now
…and they paid $2.5 MILLION in 2008 to get him bought out of his West Virginia contract…
….and if you count the $2.75 MILLION DOLLARS that Michigan has paid Rodriguez every year for his three years at UM ($8.25 Million Dollars) then the Boys and Girls in Ann Arbor would have handed over to Rodriguez:
$8.25 Million Dollars in Salary for 3 years of work
$2.50 Million Dollars for Rodriguez’s buyout from West Virginia
$4.00 Million Dollars for Rodriguez’s buyout right now from Michigan
Total Paid to Rich Rodriguez by Michigan if they fired him right now for three years of work:
$14.75 MILLION DOLLARS!
Is America a great country or what?
15 WINS….$14.75 MILLION DOLLARS = $983,333 PER WIN!
Is America a great country or what?
Hell, that’s almost Wall Street money where you blow up the American Economy and 8 Million Americans get thrown out of their jobs due to your selfishness and greed and your BONUSES GO UP!
If Michigan waits until January 1, 2011 to fire Rich Rodriguez they will save $1.5 MILLION DOLLARS of that $14.75 MILLION DOLLARS and for someone like Michigan AD Dave Brandon saving $1.5 Million Dollars is…..
A WHOLE LOT OF PIZZAS!
Coaches Hot Seat Power Playoff Poll, Post-Week 13
The Coaches Hot Seat Red Phone rang over the weekend from “that area code” and “Mr. X” passed along a very good suggestion for seeding a 16-Team Postseason Tournament and which conference champions would get automatic entries into the Tournament and which conference champions would have to play their way in via qualifying games. The suggestion from the “Mr. X” from “that area code” suggested that we use the final poll of the season and whichever conference had the lowest ranked or unranked team would have to play there way into the Postseason Tournament and the top conferences that were ranked would get their champions automatically into the Tournament as would the 7 Wildcard Teams.
OK, that sounded like a pretty good idea to us so if we used the Post Week 13 Coaches Hot Seat Power Playoff Poll we would end up with the following conference arrangements:
Conference Champions in the 2010 Postseason Tournament: SEC, Big 12, WAC, Pac-10, ACC, MWC, Big Ten
Conference Champions that would have to play each other to get into the Postseason Tournament: Sun Belt, C-USA, MAC, Big East
Wildcard Teams: 7 Wildcard Teams
Using the above new format below is Coaches Hot Seat Power Playoff Poll. As you can see below we use the CHS Power Playoff Poll to seed a 16-Team Postseason Championship Tournament IF the season had ended after Week 13. This Postseason Playoff Tournament is seeded with the 6 Conference Champions, the Winners of the Two Conference Play-In Games, along with 7 At-Large Teams that are selected via their ranking in the poll but would ideally in a postseason tournament be selected and seeded by a committee similar to the NCAA Basketball Tournament.
1. Oregon* (11-0)
2. TCU* (12-0)
3. Auburn* (12-0)
4. Stanford# (12-0)
5. Michigan State* (11-1)
6. Wisconsin# (11-1)
7. Ohio State# (11-1)
8. Boise State# (11-1)
9. Arkansas# (10-2)
10. Oklahoma# (10-2)
11. Virginia Tech* (10-2)
12. LSU# (10-2)
13. Nebraska* (10-2)
14. Nevada* (10-1)
15. Missouri (10-2)
16. Oklahoma State (10-2)
17. South Carolina (9-3)
18. Alabama (9-3)
19. Florida State (9-3)
20. Texas A&M (9-3)
*Conference Champs
#At-Large Teams
Big East Champion – UConn*
C-USA Champion – UCF*
Sun Belt Champion – FIU*
MAC Champion – Northern Illinois*
We now use the above Power Playoff Poll to seed a 16-team college football postseason playoff tournament, although we would prefer that a committee similar to the committee for the NCAA basketball tournament be used to pick the 7 wild card teams and then seed the 6 conference champions, the spots for the Winners of the Two Play-In Games and the 7 wild card teams in the postseason tournament. Below are the First Round Games if the season had ended after Week 13.
First Round Games – Friday/Saturday December 17-18, 2010
Michigan State – Big Ten Champion
TBD – MAC/Sun Belt Play-In Game Winner

————————————————————
TBD – Big East/C-USA Play-In Game Winner
Auburn – SEC Champion
————————————————————
Great 8 – Second Round Games – Thursday/Friday – December 23 – 24, 2010
Final 4 – Third Round Games – Saturday – January 1, 2011
National Championship Game – Saturday – January 8, 2011
Now that would settle a Legitimate National Champion in College Football but we would have to get the Candy Asses out of the game that rather like sitting around on their asses poolside instead of winning and earning the National Title on the field of play. Meaningless Exhibition Games vs. the above 16-Team Postseason Playoff Hmmmmmmm….. Yes, you would have to be a Real Candy Ass to choose the Meaningless Exhibition Games but never underestimate how Gutless some people can be, especially when it come to laying around a pool and going to theme parks!
Interesting to note how many teams from each conference end up in this 16-team postseason tournament if the season had ended after Week 13:
SEC – Auburn, LSU, Arkansas
Big Ten – Wisconsin, Ohio State, Michigan State
Pac-10 – Oregon, Stanford
Big 12 – Nebraska, Oklahoma
WAC – Boise State, Nevada
MWC – TCU
ACC – Virginia Tech
Big East – UConn
C-USA – UCF
Sun Belt – FIU
MAC – Northern Illinois
2 teams chosen by Bogus human and computer polls or a 16-team tournament that has the above first round games and has at least one team from every conference represented. Hmmmmm, is there really anyone with a working brain that would choose the 2 teams and the Bogus BCS? Didn’t think so.
The Great Leslie Nielsen, RIP 1926 – 2010
The Great Leslie Nielsen passed on yesterday and we would be remiss if we didn’t mention one of the great character actors in Hollywood history. Just get a gander at Nielsen’s great acting career at his Wikipedia page: Leslie Nielson
Godspeed to you Leslie Nielson!
