Coaches Hot Seat Quotes of the Day – Saturday, September 22, 2012 – Audie Murphy

Coaches Hot Seat Quotes of the Day – Saturday, September 22, 2012 – Audie Murphy

“Seems to me that if you’re afraid or living with some big fear, you’re not really living. You’re only half alive. I don’t care if it’s the boss you’re scared of or a lot of people in a room or diving off of a dinky little board, you gotta get rid of it. You owe it to yourself. Makes sort of a zombie out of you being afraid. I mean you want to be free, don’t you? And how can you if you are scared? That’s prison. Fear’s a jailer. Mind now, I’m not a professor on the subject. I just found it out for myself. But that’s what I think.”

And

“If you’re afraid of anything, why not take a chance and do the thing you fear. Sometimes it’s the only way to get over being afraid.”

And

“Let each man hear his own music and live by it. The drums roll one way for one man, I guess, and another way for another. You have to listen to your own.”

And

“In life quality is what counts, not quantity.”

And

“Audacity is a tactical weapon.  Nine times out ten it will throw the enemy off-balance and confuse him.”

And

“The true meaning of America, you ask? It’s in a Texas rodeo, in a policeman’s badge, in the sound of laughing children, in a political rally, in a newspaper… In all these things, and many more, you’ll find America. In all these things, you’ll find freedom. And freedom is what America means to the world. And to me.”

And

“Lead from the front.”

Shayne Skov and Stanford Football – Smiling Cold-Blooded – Anyone Else Want To Get Popped In the Mouth? – Bill Plaschke of the LA Times Tells It Like It Is To Lane Kiffin….BUT Does Lane Kiffin Have the Common Sense To Listen and Learn? – If NOT The Lane Kiffin May Find His Rear-End Out on the Street After Losing His “Dream Job” and Wondering Why He Spent So Much Time Worry About Complete BS!

Thanks to Ted Miller of ESPN Pac-12 Blog for writing about and linking the below video on Stanford football and the USC – Stanford game last Saturday night…

Shayne Skov delivers pregame fire, Ted Miller, ESPN Pac-12 Blog

HWDI Episode 5: Smiling Cold-Blooded (Stanford 21, USC 14), Stanford Athletics

Now THAT is Stanford Football!

Anyone else want to get popped in the mouth?

Los Angeles Times columnist Bill Plaschke tells it like it is to Lane Kiffin

In LA Times columnist Bill Plaschke’s latest he reminds Lane Kiffin that USC football is NOT about some piss-ant coach getting his way on Complete Bullshit…

C’mon Lane Kiffin: Trojans are about swagger, not nitpicking, Bill Plaschke, Los Angeles Times

“Earlier this week, angered by a question about the return of an injured player, Lane Kiffin stormed out of a daily news conference after less than 30 seconds.

I don’t need that long to give him some advice.

Chill out, dude. Stop sweating the small stuff. End these weekly tiffs with the media. Worry less about hiding injuries and more about hitting linebackers. You are distracting your team and clouding your mission.”

Double Amen to that Bill!

The problem for us here at Coaches Hot Seat with Lane Kiffin being the head football coach at USC is that we have been following and going to USC football games in Los Angeles and around the country for 35 years plus and during those 35 years when USC wasn’t playing Stanford we were always pulling for USC….

BUT

….with Lane Kiffin now leading the Trojans how in the Hell can we pull for a team that is led by a…

Pompous Arrogant Ass that believes he is God’s Gift to Planet Earth?

Answer: WE CAN’T!

Our only advice to Lane Kiffin is that after watching, observing and listening to Lane at USC under Pete Carroll and with the Oakland Raiders, after seeing the Idiotic way that Lane handled himself at the University of Tennessee and seeing Lane back at USC the last couple of years we can honestly say to Lane that about HALF the stuff you are worried about has…

NOTHING to do with USC football winning football games.

If Lane Kiffin wants to keep worrying about and obsessing over things that have…

NOTHING to do with USC football winning football games

….then have at it Lane BUT we have a heads-up for Lane Kiffin as well:

If you lose this job Lane Kiffin and don’t think for a second that the “Powers That Be” at USC wouldn’t fire you in a second if they thought YOU…

Were going to continue to act like an Idiot and embarrass the University of Southern California

AND

Were not winning at the level that USC football is expected to win at which is a Very Damn High level

….then you will find your rear-end out on the street and your current lifestyle is going to take a HUGE hit and before you hit 40 years old your head coaching career will be over at least at the I-A level in college football.

A quote for Lane Kiffin

“God, give us grace to accept with serenity the things that cannot be changed, courage to change the things that should be changed, and the wisdom to distinguish the one from the other.”  Reinhold Niebuhr, The Serenity Prayer (1943)

OR

In other words Lane….

Quit worrying about Bullshit.
