Coaches Hot Seat Quotes of the Day – Wednesday, October 24, 2012 – Hank Aaron

Coaches Hot Seat Quotes of the Day – Wednesday, October 24, 2012 – Hank Aaron

“I don’t feel right unless I have a sport to play or at least a way to work up a sweat.”

And

“I looked for the same pitch my whole career, a breaking ball. All of the time. I never worried about the fastball. They couldn’t throw it past me, none of them.”

And

“I never smile when I have a bat in my hands. That’s when you’ve got to be serious. When I get out on the field, nothing’s a joke to me. I don’t feel like I should walk around with a smile on my face.”

And

“My motto was always to keep swinging. Whether I was in a slump or feeling badly or having trouble off the field, the only thing to do was keep swinging.”

Wow! – Congrats to the San Francisco Giants For Being National League Champions! – Now Onto the World Series for the Giants Against the Mighty and Tough Detroit Lions! – What San Francisco Is REALLY Like and How It Is Perceived Around America and the World – The Great American West – With Ohio State At 8 – 0 THE Call That Had To Be Made To Ask THE Question – Mack Brown and the Longhorn Network – Mack, Starting Acting Like a REAL Man and a REAL Texan and Tell Those Sorry Bastards To Stuff Their BS Where the Sun Doesn’t Shine!

Wow!

San Francisco Giants fans cannot help but be very proud of the determined and gritty play of the Giants in the second-half of the Major League Baseball season and during the postseason which has seen the Giants face SIX elimination games and WIN every one of those games!

Congratulations to the San Francisco Giants for being…

Nationals League Champions

…AGAIN and it is now onto the World Series against the mighty and very tough Detroit Tigers.

Those of us here at Coaches Hot Seat have been lucky enough in our lives to travel all over America and the world during our adult lives and we keep up a pretty busy travel schedule to this day and the performance of the San Francisco Giants, San Francisco 49ers, Stanford football team and entire Cardinal athletic department for that matter exemplify a region of the country, the San Francisco Bay area, in a way that is not really understood in the rest of America.

With all that has happened in San Francisco since the 1960s and the 1967 Summer of Love and the Free Speech Movement at Cal-Berkeley there has developed over time a misunderstanding of what San Francisco is really all about and a conclusion has been formed that because there are so many Wacko Liberal Nuts in the Bay Area…

(And there are a LOT of Wacko Liberal Nuts in the Bay Area which after enough years of their Idiocy and War on Free Markets and Capitalism drove us, our families and our businesses to other US States)

….that the San Francisco Bay Area is somehow SOFT but the TRUTH is the exact opposite.

When growing up our fathers would often regale us in stories about how tough the San Francisco police force was and if one got out of line in a North Beach or Marina neighborhood bar there would also be a San Francisco police office close by to make sure you got back in line and acted right OR ELSE! Add in the US Navy and US Army having major based in the San Francisco Bay area for over 100 years until the mid-1980s and San Francisco was through most of our childhood a very tough town and not that much different from the city that Mark Twain first visited in the 1860s and wrote about in his first book Roughing It which is a hilarious read for those that take the time to read one of America’s literary classics.

The TV series the Streets of San Francisco starring Karl Malden and Michael Douglas detailed how tough police in San Francisco in the 1970s could be…if necessary!

At about the same time in the 1970s Clint Eastwood was playing a very tough and pissed-off cop named Harry Callahan that worked for the San Francisco police force in the epic film Dirty Harry that created some of the most famous lines in movie-making history…

Another great San Francisco-based movie was Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo starring the Great Jimmy Stewart which also depicted both the refined and tough side of San Francisco that in many ways is what the City by the Bay is all about and a part of San Francisco that visitors to the City rarely get to see or understand because they are rightly spending their time at the City’s many epic tourist sites.

The Bottom-Line is that San Francisco is incredibly complex city that is filled with all kinds of people chasing all kinds of dreams and for us here at Coaches Hot Seat we are proud to call it our “hometown” and to root for the City’s great sports teams BUT we are also just as proud and stand in awe of our new home in the Beautiful American Rocky Mountains which we miss terribly when we are in the City by the Bay.

The San Francisco Giants perfectly reflect the TOUGHNESS of the San Francisco Bay Area and we look forward over the next 10 days or so to cheer on the Giants against the Detroit Tigers in the Giants pursuit of a SECOND…

World Series Championship

….in the last three years!

GO GIANTS!

As for us here at Coaches Hot Seat some of our fellow CHS Members that have been out working on the 2012 Election are on their way to San Francisco right now for Games 1 and 2 of the World Series and will be staying through Saturday for the Washington State – Stanford football game on The Farm and for those of us that have been in San Francisco for almost two weeks now we will be returning to Election work in the 12 Battleground States that will decide the upcoming Presidential election AND some of us will be heading HOME to the…

Great American West

…as we call it and which Napoleon called Louisiana before he sold to President Thomas Jefferson and the United States of America in 1803 for $15 Million Dollars or about 3 cents per acre!

Here is a Wikipedia link on the Louisiana Purchase

AND

A map of the then French-owned Louisiana Territory overlaid on the modern United States (Louisiana in 1803 is green area)

AND

An 1804 Map of Louisiana

In our opinion the purchase of the Louisiana Territory from France by President Thomas Jefferson in 1803 was THE DEFINING EVENT of the American Republic once one gets by the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution because the purchase of Louisiana not only added a big and very valuable area of land in North America to the young United States it also opened up the potential for America to become America we know today mainly through lands acquired in the aftermath of the Mexican – American War which ended with the American Republic stretching from the Atlantic to the Pacific across some of the most beautiful, rugged, fertile and valuable land on Planet Earth.

In 1995 a film was made in IMAX format that depicted the American purchase of the Louisiana Territory from France in 1803 and the title of that film which is narrated by the great actor Jason Robards and is titled appropriately….

With Ohio State Now At 8 – 0 We Made the Call That Had To Be Made

After Ohio State won a game against Purdue on Saturday that it had NO business winning we decided that it was time to make a call to a long-time friend of ours that works for an “association” that is involved in overseeing collegiate athletics and once we got our long-time friend on the line we asked him THE QUESTION as it relates to Ohio State in 2012.

CHS:  “We have a question and want your honest opinion on something related to Ohio State.”

Long-Time Friend:  “Oh, I knew this was coming sooner or later if Ohio State kept winning this year.”

CHS:  “Good, you know how we think! The question is….IF Jim Tressel had come clean in December 2010 before the Sugar Bowl and before he held that Bogus and Lying news conference about what he knew and when he know it about his Ohio State players breaking NCAA rules would Ohio State have gotten a postseason bowl ban for the 2012 season?”

Long-Time Friend:  “In my opinion IF Jim Tressel had been honest and upfront about his hiding of what he knew about some Ohio State football players getting impermissible benefits which Tressel knew about via an email in April 2010 and said nothing about and let the Ohio State players play during the 2010 regular season and he had come totally clean December 2010 and those Buckeye players had not played in the Sugar Bowl that year Ohio State WOULD NOT HAVE gotten a bowl ban for this season. Which is of course my personal opinion.”

CHS:  “Well, of course it is your personal opinion not that you have to worry about your bosses might be checking your email and phone logs to see if you have been corresponding and talking with Coaches Hot Seat!”

Long-Time Friend:  “That is why I always have told you guys to call me at home on my home office phone line after 10:00 PM because I know to what great lengths “the boys” will go to track down leaks!”

CHS:  “This all so hush – hush. It reminds us of our younger days but now we are the only thing at stake is a shot a Bogus BCS national championship which that Lying Skunk Jim Tressel may cost Ohio State’s 2012 football team from having a shot to win and for what exactly? So Jim Tressel could win the Sugar Bowl in 2010 which meant nothing at all?”

Long-Time Friend:  “After learning later what Jim Tressel knew and when he knew it that December 2010 press conference involving Tressel may very well be one of the most selfish and self-serving press conferences I have ever witnessed in all my years of being involved in collegiate athletics.”

CHS:  “Boy, isn’t that the Damn truth. By the way did you ever find the “bag man?”

Long-Time Friend:  “Well, as you know finding the bag man and getting the bag man to talk are two different things entirely!”

CHS:  “One day that story will come out and when it does one can only wonder if we will have a Lance Armstrong-like situation where titles are revoked and tossed into the garbage?”

Long-Time Friend:  “In the grand scheme of things it probably doesn’t matter but based upon your latest Hot Seat Rankings this would not be a good time for the bag man to start talking!”

CHS:  “Boy, isn’t that the Damn truth!”

Long-Time Friend:  “Stay in touch and quit sending those Stanford hats to the office because “the boys” are getting a little suspicious!”

CHS:  “OK, next time we will send you an USC Trojans hat and that will really get them talking!”

Long-Time Friend:  “Isn’t that the Damn truth!”

The Bottom-Line for us here at Coaches Hot Seat on Jim Tressel and Ohio State’s 2012 Postseason Bowl Ban:

IF Jim Tressel had just been HONEST in December 2010 and TOLD THE TRUTH about some of the Buckeye players getting impermissible benefits which would have kept them out that year’s Sugar Bowl the Ohio State football program would right now be ranked in the Top 5 in the Bogus BCS Rankings and at 8 – 0 and with these games left…

At Penn State
Illinois
At Wisconsin
Michigan

…which would give them at least a chance to play for the Bogus BCS National Championship THIS YEAR but….and it is a BIG BUT….

Jim Tressel is a LIAR

….and thus Ohio State can run the table in Urban Meyer’s first year at OSU and it will mean…

NOTHING.

PERIOD.

One can only wonder how Jim Tressel sleeps at night.

Mack Brown and the Longhorn Network

Mack Brown already has a Helluva mess on his hands at Texas as he tries to turnaround a football program that has put up a record of…

17 – 14

…since that loss to Alabama in the 2009 Bogus BCS national championship game and now Mack has the Longhorn Network distraction to deal with:

Mack Brown on Longhorn Network: “I didn’t ask for it”, College Football Talk

And

Mack Brown discusses Longhorn Network, AP

Mack Brown’s comments on the Longhorn Network certainly got our attention (from the above AP story):

“I didn’t ask for it,” Brown said Monday, noting he’s worried that the six hours a week he spends taping three television shows and the network’s access to the first 30 minutes of daily practice may tip opposing coaches to player injuries, tendencies and schemes.

Brown said he and Baylor coach Art Briles discussed it before Texas (5-2) beat Baylor 56-50 on Saturday.

“I’m a soldier,” Brown said. “They tell me to go work with the Longhorn Network, I’ll go do it.”

Brown says he knows opposing coaches watch it for any details they can get on the Longhorns. Texas school officials negotiated the network contract and the network’s access to his program without asking his advice.

“We were given a deal that we had no input in,” Brown said.

Brown tapes three shows a week. Practice footage usually includes stretching and some position drills.

The programming tries to avoid unveiling schemes or game plans but opponents can still pick up valuable tidbits, Brown said. A member of the media relations staff watches every day to monitor what may be revealed.

“It’s a true advantage (for opponents). They can watch our attitude, they can watch our coaches,” Brown said.

Brown said he wants to meet with school president Bill Powers, athletic director DeLoss Dodds and network officials after the season to work out changes that he did not detail.

“There has to be some give and take,” Brown said. “It is what it is. It’s part of my job because DeLoss and Bill Powers have told me it is.”

Now ask yourself after reading Mack Brown’s comments on the Longhorn Network…

WHAT IF Nick Saban said the same thing about a Crimson Tide Network do you think that Alabama AD Mal Moore wouldn’t immediately work with Saban to satisfy his concerns about what the Crimson Tide Network was revealing to other coaches and more importantly in our opinion after what two Coaches Hot Seat Members saw when they were in Austin a couple of weeks back for the West Virginia – Texas game…

The amount of time that Mack Brown is being forced to by the University of Texas administration to devote to the Longhorn Network

Please, IF anyone thinks that Nick Saban would be made to do something he didn’t want to do or show things in practice that he didn’t want to show then the don’t understand what is going on at Alabama right now and THE Bottom-Line is that Nick Saban…

WOULD NOT ALLOW IT TO HAPPEN

AND

More importantly the administration at Alabama starting with AD Mal Moore would backup Saban completely and make Damn sure that his valuable time was being spent on working full-time to…

Winning Football Games

…and NOT spending hours each week helping to get a fledgling TV network off the ground.

Our opinion here at Coaches Hot Seat after reading Mack Brown’s comments on The Longhorn Network:

Mack Brown is in a situation that we here at Coaches Hot Seat would NEVER put ourselves in and that situation is that Mack Brown works for a….

Pompous Arrogant Ass that Believes He is God’s Gift to Planet Earth

…in Texas AD DeLoss Dodds and it also OUR opinion that DeLoss Dodds and a few of his Texas booster buddies would take down the entire University of Texas before admitting they had ever been wrong about anything so destroying the Texas football program is NOTHING as long as things are done in the name of glorifying the “great” DeLoss Dodds!

The BIG difference between the University of Alabama athletics and University of Texas athletics right now is clear for everyone to see:

Alabama AD Mal Moore played football for and was a staff member on Paul “Bear” Bryant’s Alabama football teams and has about 10 national championship rings from his playing and coaching days with the Bama football program

AND in OUR opinion…

Texas athletics is being run by a former track coach who is a…

Pompous Arrogant Ass that Believes He is God’s Gift to Planet Earth

…and who has NEVER been wrong during his time spent alive on this Earth!

Toss in a president at the University of Texas in Bill Powers who also in our opinion is a…

Pompous Arrogant Ass that Believes He is God’s Gift to Planet Earth

…and Mack Brown is basically working for two of the MOST worthless people now working intercollegiate athletics and higher education and if we were Mack Brown right now we would tell those two worthless Bastards to…

GO TO HELL

…and tell them that either The Longhorn Network’s coverage of Brown’s Texas football team and his time on the network were going to be determined by Mack Brown or Dodds and Powers could take the head coaching job at Texas and…

Stuff It Where the Sun Doesn’t Shine!

One of the most depressing things that was told to us by the two CHS Members that went down to Austin for the West Virginia – Texas football game was that (and his opinion as well)….

“The Texas fans are great and some of the nicest people we have ever run across but if you ever wanted to know how Hitler slaughtered 10 Million Jews, Gypsies and undesirables one can how even great and nice people will follow people in positions of power like sheep to slaughter as is the case with Texas football fans right now. The people in power at UT have the Texas football fans under their thumb and if they tell them to “jump” the Longhorn fans don’t ask “how high” they just jump.”

CHS Member No. 2: “Sounds like a lot less ass kissing and lot more acting like REAL Texans is in order for the UT fans.”

CHS Member who went to Austin:  “Yes, you are right, but I don’t know if the average UT football fan has the guts to question the people in power at the University of Texas.”

CHS Member No. 2:  “If that’s the case then the American Republic is finished.”

Come on Mack Brown start acting like the future College Football Hall of Fame coach that you are and tell these Sorry Bastards starting with DeLoss Dodds….former track coach…..that they can….

Stuff Their Longhorn Network Bullshit Where the Sun Doesn’t Shine

….which would be acting like a REAL Man and a REAL Texan.
