“We’re gonna fight. We’re gonna fight together. We’ll do the things we think we need to do to get better as we go. But the Georgia people can count on us fighting our tails off and doing it in a way that everybody would be proud of in our young men, to get better. So that’s where we’re at right now.”
What the Hell?
So after getting run by Alabama in your home stadium, losing to Tennessee, and losing to Florida AGAIN with the Gators having a first-year head coach on the sidelines that took over a Dumpster Fire in Gainesville and now the Georgia Bulldogs according to Mark Richt are going to…
Yes…Glory be to God Mark Richt BUT what in the Hell are you talking about son?
Your team laid-down and QUIT against Alabama!
Your team gave away a game to Tennessee!
Your team laid-down and QUIT against Florida!
Oh…maybe we should say in this spot for both the Alabama game in Athens and the Florida game in Jacksonville two Coaches Hot Seat members sat right behind the Georgia sideline and they reported that they have seen in their lifetimes…
Chess Club Teams that were more fired up for a Freaking Chess Competition!
…than the Georgia football team was fired-up to play Alabama and Florida!
Here’s the TRUTH: Mark Richt as the head football coach at Georgia is making…
$4 Million Dollars A Year
….and thus is responsible for getting his teams ready to play football games against opponents like Alabama and Florida and the TRUTH is…
Mark Richt football team got DESTROYED by both Alabama and Florida
…and Mark Richt stood on the sidelines of both games and did NOTHING!
And now Mark Richt says Georgia is going to “fight?”
Please….in our opinion there is NO FIGHT left in Mark Richt or his football team and the close loss to Missouri at home says as much as the losses to Alabama, Tennessee, and Florida do because Georgia was also asleep against a very mediocre Missouri football team and it took at last minute field goal to even win that game!
Whatever is REALLY going on with Mark Richt and the folks in and around the Georgia football program…
….from where we sit it’s our opinion here at Coaches Hot Seat that Mark Richt REALLY believes that…
Whatever happens in life which would include the outcome of a football game is “God’s will” and that far be it for Mark Richt to question why his Georgia football team has floundered in 2015 in hardly showing up against Alabama and Florida because after all that is just “God’s plan” and why should Mark Richt question “God’s will” and “God’s plan” if those two things include the Georgia football NOT showing up ready to play against Alabama and Florida?
Where does that “It’s God’s Will” and “It’s God’s Plan” come from anyway because we hear it being said all the time?
Well of course anyone that knows the New Testament knows it flows straight from Jesus Christ’s last week of being alive on the planet Earth in the late 20s AD when after a week of rabble-rousing and pissing off anyone and everyone he could find in Jerusalem who was not following God’s word as defined by Christ including his infamous Cleansing of the Temple….
….as detailed best in our opinion by Matthew:
“And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.” Matthew 21:12–13
Yes…after that week of rabble-rousing in Jerusalem Jesus Christ was betrayed by Judas and taken to the Jewish elders and then the Roman courts of Pilate and Herod and let’s let Wikipedia take the story from here which in our humble opinion goes right to the heart of the problem with Georgia Football team some 1990 years after the crucifixion of Jesus Christ (Jesus Christ, Wikipedia.com):
“After his arrest, Jesus is taken to the Sanhedrin, a Jewish judicial body. The gospel accounts differ on the details of the trials. In Matthew 26:57, Mark 14:53 and Luke 22:54, Jesus is taken to the house of the high priest, Caiaphas, where he is mocked and beaten that night. Early the next morning, the chief priests and scribes lead Jesus away into their council. John 18:12–14 states that Jesus is first taken to Annas, Caiaphas’ father-in-law, and then to the high priest.
During the trials Jesus speaks very little, mounts no defense, and gives very infrequent and indirect answers to the priests’ questions, prompting an officer to slap him. In Matthew 26:62 Jesus’ unresponsiveness leads Caiaphas to ask him, “Have you no answer?” In Mark 14:61 the high priest then asks Jesus, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?” Jesus replies, “I am”, and then predicts the coming of the Son of Man. This provokes Caiaphas to tear his own robe in anger and to accuse Jesus of blasphemy. In Matthew and Luke, Jesus’ answer is more ambiguous: in Matthew 26:64 he responds, “You have said so”, and in Luke 22:70 he says, “You say that I am”.
They take Jesus to Pilate’s Court, but Pilate proves extremely reluctant to condemn Jesus, so it is the Jewish elders who are to blame for Jesus’ crucifixion. The Jewish elders ask the Roman governor Pontius Pilate to judge and condemn Jesus, accusing him of claiming to be the King of the Jews. The use of the word “king” is central to the discussion between Jesus and Pilate. In John 18:36 Jesus states, “My kingdom is not from this world”, but he does not unequivocally deny being the King of the Jews. In Luke 23:7–15 Pilate realizes that Jesus is a Galilean, and thus comes under the jurisdiction of Herod Antipas. Pilate sends Jesus to Herod to be tried, but Jesus says almost nothing in response to Herod’s questions. Herod and his soldiers mock Jesus, put an expensive robe on him to make him look like a king, and return him to Pilate, who then calls together the Jewish elders and announces that he has “not found this man guilty”.
Observing a Passover custom of the time, Pilate allows one prisoner chosen by the crowd to be released. He gives the people a choice between Jesus and a murderer called Barabbas. Persuaded by the elders (Matthew 27:20), the mob chooses to release Barabbas and crucify Jesus. Pilate writes a sign in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek that reads “Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews” (abbreviated as INRI in depictions) to be affixed to Jesus’ cross (John 19:19–20), then scourges Jesus and sends him to be crucified. The soldiers place a Crown of Thorns on Jesus’ head and ridicule him as the King of the Jews. They beat and taunt him before taking him to Calvary, also called Golgotha, for crucifixion.”
Jesus Chris was a brave man not doubt BUT if he did exactly what he did in Jerusalem in the late 20s AD in the state of Georgia he would no doubt be branded a NUT and tossed into jail by many of the folks that proclaim him to be the Son of God BUT that’s not the point here…is it?
Jesus Christ before the Jewish elders and the two Roman leaders Pilate and Herod refused to FIGHT and to make a STAND for what he believed were some serious issues relative to the way people of Christ’s faith…Judaism….were going about their daily lives and in choosing not to FIGHT he was sentenced to death which of course Hundreds of Millions of Christians have been told over the past almost 2000 years was….
“God’s Will” and “God’s Plan.”
As you ponder and think about that for a second what would the world would like today IF the American People….many of them of the Christian faith…had decided in December 1941 to NOT fight the Japanese and then later the Germans after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor….
Would Jesus Christ or his Father in Heaven….God….have wanted America to NOT fight the Unbelievable EVIL that was Hirohito in Japan and Hitler in Germany and leave to them the world to enslave which would have included ALL of us now living today in a world controlled by the descendents of two of the most EVIL men in human history?
NO…Americans stood up and FOUGHT and didn’t give two seconds thought to what happened in Jerusalem a couple of thousand years before because Jesus Christ being condemned to death by the Romans had NOTHING to do with the America and its allies ridding the world of EVIL and guess what…
Jesus Christ has NOTHING to do with Mark Richt getting his football ready to Play and Fight and to Work Hard to beat teams like Alabama and Florida and it would take an Idiot of a High Order to believe that it was “God’s Will” or “God’s Plan” for Georgia to lose those two football games BUT the FACT is Mark Richt stood on the sidelines of both of those games and did…
….just like his Savior Jesus Christ.
Sorry…history has proven that Human Beings can BEND history towards Good or Evil or with a lot of FIGHT alter the outcome of a football game with their own courageous play during that game and college football is filled with glorious stories of football players and football coaches doing just that….Bending History and thus Victories towards them…..by the sheer will of their humanity in action on this Earth that had NOTHING to do with Jesus Christ being crucified almost 2000 years ago now.
Please…why would anyone with a working brain believe that Mark Richt will get his football team to FIGHT now when they basically didn’t show up at all in the TWO biggest games of the year against Alabama and Florida?
An even better question will be if Georgia does come out and play hard against Kentucky for the entire game and then hard against Auburn, Georgia Southern and Georgia Tech….why now and not against Alabama and Florida?
In our opinion read the above again and you will KNOW the answer to that question.
Everyone here at Coaches Hot Seat will tell you that they really like Mark Richt….a good man….a good football coach….a good Christian whatever the Hell that means since it’s irrelevant to whether he should be the head football coach at Georgia…BUT…sometimes we here at Coaches Hot Seat cannot help but wonder…would Mark Richt FIGHT to defend the American Republic if a REAL shooting war broke out again and we had to go kill other human beings in order for our country to survive and for the world to not be under the thumb of the Fascist Russians or Chinese who are the TWO main forces of EVIL in the world today?
Who the Hell knows and that says a Helluva lot.
We will leave the following quote right here….because it seems appropriate:
“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Edmund Burke
Post Week 9 Coaches Hot Seat Rankings – 21 – 30 Hot Seat Head Coaches
Keep It Rolling Mr. Cash….Just Keep the Heat Rolling!
21. Scott Shafer, Syracuse – With the Syracuse loss to Florida State on Saturday Orange head coach Scott Shafer is venturing into some dangerous territory because that was his team’s FIFTH straight loss and leaves Syracuse at…
3 – 5 overall
1 – 3 in ACC play
….and Shafer’s overall records at in his THIRD season at the school…
Overall: 13 – 20
ACC: 6 – 14
Damn…SIX ACC Conference wins in THREE seasons is NOT good and the Orange still have to play this season…
At Louisville Clemson At NC State Boston College
Damn….if Scott Shafer can find THREE more wins that will be a Helluva coaching job but to us this looks something like a record of…
4 – 8
…for Syracuse in 2015 and that kind of result will put Shafer’s ass on a Helluva Hot Seat come December!
22. Tim DeRuyter, Fresno State – Fresno State had a bye in Week 9 and gets back to football in Week 10 with a CRITICAL game against Nevada because the Bulldogs are now sitting on records of…
3 – 6 overall
1 – 4 in MWC play
…..and after Nevada head coach Tim DeRuyter’s team still have to play these games…
At Hawaii At BYU Colorado State
YES….Tim DeRuyter’s team better Damn beat Nevada at home on Thursday night if they are going to get to SIX wins in 2015 and in the process get DeRuyter off the Hot Seat!
23. Kyle Flood, Rutgers – The Rutgers athletic department has been a Damn mess for what seems like a decade-plus now and Kyle Flood’s latest academic-related issues have only made Rutgers look even more like a clown show that badly needs to get its act cleaned-up BUT then the matter at hand here is can Kyle Flood survive to coach Scarlet Knights into the 2016 season? With Rutgers sitting on a record of….
3 – 5
….and even though Kyle Flood is only responsible for 3 of those 5 losses that anything short of Rutgers going to a bowl game this season that one would have to think the “powers that be” at Rutgers….such as they are….would look to make a clean-break with Kyle Flood and start 2016 fresh with a new head coach in place.
Here is what’s left on Rutgers schedule this season:
At Michigan Nebraska At Army Maryland
Damn….Rutgers COULD very easily beat Nebraska at home, Army at West Point and Maryland at home to finish the season at…
6 – 6
….and Kyle Flood could then say to anyone that would listen that he will make Damn sure things are done right going forward BUT Hell….maybe Greg Schiano might want to come back to Rutgers and coach if he can’t get the Miami job which seems like an odd fit to us because Miami needs a “Happy Warrior” in the worst way right now and Greg Schiano is most definitely NOT that!
Whatever is going to happen at Rutgers what’s next is that the Scarlett Knights travel to Ann Arbor to play Michigan on Saturday….and after that…who the Hell knows!
24. Ron Caragher, San Jose State – San Jose State had a bye in Week 9 after getting a nice win over New Mexico in Week 8 and the Spartans get back after things this coming Saturday with a home game against BYU which is an important game for head coach Ron Caragher because he really, really, really need to take his football team to a bowl game in 2015 and with the Spartans now at 4 – 4 and having these games left on the schedule….
BYU At Nevada At Hawaii Boise State
….Caragher REALLY needs to get to 6 wins before they head to Boise on Friday November 27.
Come on Ron Caragher…you have enough talent to beat this BYU football team…well…probably not…but beat BYU anyway!
25. Paul Petrino, Idaho – Talk about letting a CRITICAL win slip away that was what Paul Petrino and his Idaho Vandals did against New Mexico State on Saturday because with a win Idaho could have moved to….
4 – 4
…on the season BUT instead they are now….
3 – 5
…and back to fighting like Hell to get to 6 wins to show at least some progress in the Idaho football program.
At 3 – 5 here is what’s left on Idaho’s schedule:
At South Alabama Appalachian State At Auburn Texas State
Hmmm….NOT an easy game left on Idaho’s schedule and with Paul Petrino’s record at Idaho now standing at…
5 – 26
….Paul Petrino REALLY needs a few more wins before the curtain is brought down on 2015!
26. Ron Turner, Florida International – With a loss in the Shula Bowl to Florida Atlantic head coach Ron Turner and his Florida International football team fell to…
4 – 5 overall
2 – 3 in CUSA play
….and they still having to play these games:
Charlotte At Marshall Western Kentucky
Damn….without an upset of Marshall or Western Kentucky that will be THREE seasons at FIU for Ron Turner and THREE sub-.500 records and if that is what the AD at FIU was looking for when he fired Mario Cristobal then they have a Helluva mess on their hands at FIU!
27. Mark Stoops, Kentucky – Mark Stoops is in his THIRD season as the head coach at Kentucky and he followed Joker Phillips who also coached THREE seasons at Kentucky which makes for an easy comparison between the two coaches so let’s do just that:
Joker Phillips – 2010 – 2012
Overall: 13 – 24 (.351)
SEC: 4 – 20 (.167)
Mark Stoops – 2013 – 2015
Overall: 11 – 21 (.344)
SEC: 4 – 18 (.182)
No…NOT that much difference between Joker Phillips and Mark Stoops and the Wildcats still have to play games this season against…
At Georgia At Vanderbilt Charlotte Louisville
Our guess…Mark Stoops and Joker Phillips records after THREE seasons at Kentucky will look almost identical in a few weeks and that raises the obvious question:
With all the Sound and Fury from Mark Stoops in the last THREE seasons has anything really changed at Kentucky?
Not Really….unless of course Kentucky can finish strong with THREE or FOUR wins down the stretch and then for Damn sure there would be a discernible difference between Stoops and Phillips BUT if the Wildcats stumble down the finish by losing to Georgia and Vanderbilt on the road, beat Charlotte at home, and then lose to Louisville at home…..
Mark Stoops rear-end will be lit-up like the Fourth of July come the end of November!
Oh…just for comparison’s sake Rick Brooks coached for SEVEN seasons at Kentucky and posted records of…
Overall: 39 – 47 (.453)
SEC: 16 – 39 (.291)
….which is noticeably better than Stoops or Phillips BUT after THREE seasons Rich Brooks records at UK stood at…
Overall: 9 – 25 (.265)
SEC: 4 – 20 (.167)
Can Mark Stoops get things rolling like Rich Brooks did in his FOURTH season at Kentucky taking the Wildcats to FOUR straight bowl games before he retired after the 2009 season?
Maybe….Maybe Not….BUT the last FOUR games of this season will set a tone and a great tone setter in this spot would be for Kentucky to roll into Athens on Saturday and whip the very fragile Georgia Bulldogs….Oh Hell that would be a Helluva tone setter for sure!
28. Willie Taggart, South Florida – After THREE straight wins over Syracuse, UConn, and SMU Willie Taggart’s South Florida team got beat by a very good Navy team on Saturday and that drops the Bulls records this season to…
4 – 4 overall
2 – 2 in the AAC
….with these games still left on the board:
At East Carolina Temple Cincinnati At UCF
Hell Willie…you need TWO more wins son to get to SIX wins on the season and our recommendation to achieve that goal is….
Beat East Carolina on Saturday and beat UCF on Thursday November 26!
29. Todd Graham, Arizona State – We couldn’t help but laugh at the “stealing signals” Brouhaha this past week over Oregon accusing Todd Graham and Arizona State of doing just that….stealing signals….
….because in case the Candy Asses in Eugene, Oregon know it or not if your signals are so Damn pitiful that they can be stolen by the opposing team then..
They WILL BE Stolen
….but that’s not the reason Todd Graham is on the Hot Seat which is actually attributed to the records that ASU are sitting on this season after that PITIFUL loss to the Ducks…
4 – 3 overall
2 – 3 in Pac-12 play
….AND the Complete Idiocy that we saw on the display at the end of the Oregon game when after making one Damn mistake after another Damn mistake throughout the game against the Ducks Arizona State actually had the ball and a chance to put away Oregon late in the 4 th quarter and what happened…
Another Damn Stupid Mistake which just flat-out GAVE the game away to Oregon!
Let us explain….
Arizona State went ahead in the game against Oregon in the 4 th quarter by the score of 41 – 34 with just a little over 7 minutes left on the clock and then kicked-off to the Ducks which was followed by a three-and-out by Oregon and a punt back to Arizona State which left the following situation in the game:
Arizona State has the ball with a 7-point lead with 6:15 left in the game.
Arizona State runs the ball twice for a first down at the ASU 39-yard line and there is 6:00 left in the game.
Now here is where the Complete Idiocy STARTS that leads us to the obvious conclusion that Todd Graham is a Complete Freaking Moron!
Arizona State PASSES the ball with 6:00 left in the game which is complete for a first down to the Oregon 48-yard line and there is 5:15 left in the game.
YES…there is 5:15 left in the game and you have the ball first-down at Oregon’s 48-yard line and what would ANYONE but a Complete Moron as a Head Coach do in this spot?
RUN THE DAMN BALL!
What did Arizona State do with a quarterback under center…mind you in Mike Bercovici….who in our opinion is way Damn too careless with the football in most situations?
THE ARIZONA STATE MORONS THROW THE BALL FOR AN INTERCEPTION!
Oregon takes over at their own 40-yard line with 4:00 left in the game and of course goes down the field and scores a touchdown to tie the score at 41 which Arizona State then lost in triple overtime!
Now let’s assume that any coach besides Todd Graham….A Freaking Moron….is on the Arizona State sideline and he knows he has a quarterback in Mike Bercovici under center who is very Damn careless with the football what would that coach….NOT A Freaking Moron….do when he had the ball….
1 st down at the Oregon 48 yard line with 5:15 left in the game with a 7-point lead
HE WOULD RUN THE FREAKING FOOTBALL THREE FREAKING TIMES!
And if Arizona State had not gotten a first down the Sun Devils would have punted with around 2:00 left on the clock BUT NO that didn’t happen because….
Todd Graham STUPIDLY snatched a loss from the jaws of victory and his team is now…
4 – 4 on the season
2 – 3 in Pac-12 play
…and still has to play these games:
At Washington State Washington Arizona At California
Hell….Arizona State might not go to a bowl game in 2015 because of the STUPIDITY of their head football coach BUT then maybe Arizona State can beat Arizona which in our opinion has…
QUIT on Rich Rodriguez
…and if the Wildcats continue to spiral down Rodriguez will find his ass on the Hot Seat with Todd Graham and does anyone doubt that USC will RUN Arizona out of the Coliseum on Saturday night?
Didn’t think so!
Oh…things are about to get REAL DAMN UGLY in the state of Arizona with what looks like TWO teams going down on Saturday and BOTH head coaches Todd Graham and Rich Rodriguez finding their Precious Asses on the Hot Seat when they wake-up next Monday morning!
30. Kliff Kingsbury, Texas Tech – Kliff Kingsbury got his ass off the Hot Seat with a 5 – 2 record after a win over Kansas BUT after TWO straight losses to Oklahoma and Oklahoma State in back-to-back weeks the Red Raiders are now at…
5 – 4 overall
2 – 4 in Big 12 play
…..and have a HUGE game against Crazy Boy Dana Holgorsen and West Virginia in Morgantown on Saturday!
Kliff Kingsbury REALLY needs to take his football team to a bowl game in 2015 and with 5 wins on the board and these games left to be played…
At West Virginia Kansas State At Texas
…we see No Damn Reason at all why Texas Tech can’t win at least one of their last three game and Hell the way Texas is playing right now if you lay 40 points on the Longhorns that is a SURE FIRE Victory all day and all night long!
11. Trent Miles, Georgia State – Georgia State played Arkansas State tough for about three quarters before losing 48 – 34 on Saturday and with that loss head coach Trent Miles records in THREE seasons coaching the Panthers dropped to…
Overall: 3 – 28
Sun Belt: 1 – 17
…..and in words of the Great Jed Clampett that is…
Now at 2 – 5 on the season here is what Georgia State has left on their schedule:
La. Lafayette At Texas State South Alabama Troy At Georgia Southern
Our guess: Georgia State finishes at 2 – 10 in 2015 and the Panthers are looking for a new head football coach come December and Hell we would be interested in a job coaching an FBS program in Atlanta, Georgia and we know a few very good head coaches a level or two below the FBS level that would be interested in that job as well!
Keep coaching them up Trent….just keep coaching them up son!
12. Paul Rhoads, Iowa State – You have to give Paul Rhoads and his Iowa State football team credit for continuing to play hard and beating a decent and much more talented if not admittedly arrogant Texas football team that is full of more Prima Donnas than we could possibly count BUT the win over the Longhorns doesn’t change Rhoads’ records by much in SEVEN seasons coaching the Cyclones:
Overall: 32 – 51
Big 12: 16 – 41
Even worse is Paul Rhoads records at Iowa State over the past THREE seasons….
Overall: 8 – 24
Big 12: 4 – 19
…which points to a declining football program especially when benchmarked against the rest of the Big 12 which is how Paul Rhoads is ultimately measured which is how we are all measured in this world today:
How did you do against your closest peers?
Answer for Paul Rhoads at Iowa State:
Not very Damn good over the past THREE seasons which brings us to another point if one goes back to the 2011 and 2012 seasons one will remember that was about the time that the Big 12 teams started to really rev-up their offenses and that was the exact spot where a head coach like Paul Rhoads needs to recognize what is happening…
Namely that it’s going to take a Helluva LOT more points to win games in the Big 12 meaning probably north of 30 points per game
….and adapt accordingly by finding a way to score more points whether that be running the ball, throwing the ball, or doing a combination of running and throwing BUT whatever the method if you are going to compete in the Big 12 Conference today in the game of football there is one very simple rule:
You MUST score points….meaning a Helluva LOT of points!
Now at 3 – 5 on the season after the win over the Pitiful Texas Longhorns….who the more we think about put up one of the most DISGRACEFUL performances in 2015 in the game against Cyclones….Iowa State has wins over…
Northern Iowa Kansas Texas
….(that’s some great company to hang with their Charlie Strong!) and the Cyclones have left on their schedule:
At Oklahoma Oklahoma State At Kansas State At West Virginia
With Paul Rhoads saying after the win over Texas that he deserves to remain the head coach at Iowa State…
“Rhoads then immediately transitioned into his pitch why, at 32-51 overall and 16-41 in the Big 12, he’s the right guy to lead the Iowa State football program. “Because the program’s moving in the right direction. I’ve got great coaches and I’ve got unbelievable players that care and play (with) passion in the cardinal and gold jerseys that they wear.
“We’ve always believed, and I still believe, we have a good football team. We have played five opponents that we’ve lost to that had a combined record of 33-3 going into today,” Rhoads explained. The Cyclones lost to undefeated Iowa 31-17, undefeated Toledo 30-23, undefeated TCU 45-21 and undefeated Baylor 45-27, with games against one-loss Oklahoma and undefeated Oklahoma State in the next two weeks. Only their 66-31 loss at 5-4 Texas Tech (with losses to TCU, Baylor, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State) stands outside the top 25. “We’ve been playing really good football teams. We’ve improved in the process. We had one loss that was embarrassing to us, humiliating to us. Other than that, our football team has fought, prepared and done the things we’ve asked of them.”
….if we were the AD at Iowa State after reading the above comments we would call Paul Rhoads into the office realizing we would have already told him that it was either a .500 record or better and a bowl game in 2015 or he was out of a job come December and say to Paul on this Tuesday morning:
“OK Paul. Nice win over Texas. Your team is 3 – 5 and has 4 games left on the schedule. You win 2 of those games and you can return to coach this team in 2016 BUT 4 wins will not do it because that would be 4 wins in your SEVENTH year on the job. Also it’s clear to me that the rest of the Big 12 is leaving us in the dust and that if I don’t make this move now we will just fall further behind the coming years and I need a full stadium for every Iowa State home game to make my athletic budget work. Now good luck to you Paul and I am hoping you can find 2 more wins which I remind you is 1 win less than I said you would need before the season to keep your job. Now give them Hell Paul!”
OK…Paul Rhoads has been warned that he needs to win 2 of his last 4 games to return to coach at Iowa State in 2016 BUT that leaves on the table the most important question that any AD must ask and answer before he fires a head coach and that question is this:
“If I fire my head football coach will I be able to hire a BETTER head coach to replace him?”
Now this is obviously a very subjective question since a head coach that is not posting winning seasons is ALWAYS at risk of being fired BUT each school is different and Iowa State is a very tough place to coach at because it sits in a touch place to recruit to and it plays in a very tough conference in the Big 12 which is full of teams and head coaches that are bound and determined to win games and championships and that is just a Helluva tough neighborhood for a head coach of the Cyclones to operate in.
The obvious answer to the above question is that…
OF COURSE Iowa State can hire a better head coach than Paul Rhoads but WOULD Iowa State hire a better head coach than Paul Rhoads if Rhoads was fired?
Certainly Tennessee COULD HAVE hired a better head coach than Phillip Fulmer after Fulmer was fired after the 2008 season but the Tennessee AD then Mike Hamilton hired Lane Kiffin and then Derek Dooley who by any measure we can think of…
Were NOT even close to being BETTER head coaches than Phillip Fulmer
….and that takes us back to Iowa State AD Jamie Pollard who at this moment should have a list of 5 to 7 current head coaches or assistant coaches on the FBS and FCS levels that he believes would consider the Iowa State job if offered that would be BETTER at winning games and championships than Paul Rhoads at ISU.
Frankly…we have a list here at Coaches Hot Seat of the Top 25 College Head Coaches and Top 25 College Assistant Coaches that are Ready for Bigger and/or Head Coaching Jobs which includes a number of coaches that would LOVE a shot at coaching Iowa State and one FBS AD friend of ours has asked us to post those two lists in the Coaches Hot Seat Blog which we may indeed do next week if we can agree on the last few coaches on both lists actually are in our minds.
Getting back to Paul Rhoads and Iowa State….
Go find TWO wins in your last FOUR games Paul Rhoads because you never know son!
13. Craig Bohl, Wyoming – It really is too bad that Craig Bohl is still not the head coach at North Dakota State because he would probably be sitting on right now…
FIVE straight FCS National Championships in a row!
….and would be the PRIME candidate to replace the faltering Mike Riley at Nebraska if the Huskers make a…
Chancellor, AD and Head Coaching Change at Nebraska
….later this year which could very well happen if the Huskers get blown out of a couple of games down the stretch of the 2015 season…
….BUT Craig Bohl is instead at Wyoming and finds his ass on the Hot Seat sitting on records in TWO seasons on the job of….
Overall: 5 – 16
MWC: 3 – 10
Memo to College Head Coaches: If you are considering a lateral move such as the one that Craig Bohl made going from North Dakota State to Wyoming email us first at firstname.lastname@example.org to see if it’s a good move or not because more than likely we will know more than you do about what is going on in the coaching profession and what jobs might be open to you 1, 2 or 3 years down the road!
Now at 1 – 8 on the season Craig Bohl and Wyoming have left on the schedule:
Colorado State At San Diego State UNLV
Win 2 of your last 3 games Craig Bohl….alright son…and if you are thinking about making another move to another head coaching job contact us first because whoever the Hell is giving you advice doesn’t have a Freaking Clue what they are talking about….alright son?
14. Doug Martin, New Mexico State – Congratulations are in order to Doug Martin and his New Mexico State football team which got an overtime win over Idaho….
Hold it a second….they beat IDAHO
….but then what the Hell a Win is a Win even it is over IDAHO and with that Win the Aggies are now…
1 – 7
…on the season and still have to play games against…
At Texas State At La. Lafayette Arkansas State At La. Monroe
Damn….well Hell that Win is still a Win and now it’s on to Texas State!
15. Paul Johnson, Georgia Tech – Plenty of Coaches Hot Seat members are old enough to have played football in the 1970s and 1980s for coaches like Paul Johnson who spends most of his time…
Chewing out and running down his players
….and we are also smart enough to know that in today’s world just as it was when we were growing up if you do as the Late Great Paul “Bear” Bryant said was the wrong thing to do…
“If you whoop and holler all the time, the players just get used to it.”
…then you will end up with a very inconsistent football program and that is what Paul Johnson has in his EIGHT seasons at Georgia Tech as shown by the yearly records below:
We are going to let everyone in on a secret of coaching that we got from a member of Coaches Hot Seat who played for Paul “Bear” Bryant at Alabama in the 1970s who has given us a tremendous amount of valuable information based upon what he learned from Paul Bryant on how to lead people, motivate people, and generally create winning organizations that we use all the time in our REAL day jobs and one of those things that this former player for Bryant told us was an incredible insight that coaches like Paul Johnson that spend a Helluva lot of time yelling at their players should take to heart. The below conversation happened in 2013 in Atlanta at the home of a Coaches Hot Seat member as we were sitting around talking about what this former Alabama player had learned from Paul Bryant:
Coaches Hot Seat: “Tell us about Bryant’s demeanor on the sidelines during games and how it was different from other coaches you played for or saw first-hand in your life.”
Former Bryant Player: “Something that I hardly noticed when I was at Alabama but which really stood out to me as I thought about my days of playing for Coach Bryant and seeing how other coaches interacted with their players is that Coach Bryant on the sidelines during games rarely yelled at players unless they did something really stupid but he sure the Hell would light up his assistant coaches all the time who would then get onto the players about specific things. That small thing which I didn’t give two seconds thought to when I was at Alabama really hit home when I got out into the business world and realized that chewing out front-line employees that were almost always doing their best not only made me look bad and even small, but also undermined the managers in the company who were charged with managing the front-line employees and who resented it when I went straight to their employees to chew someone out or to get an answer to something. Coach Bryant most of all coached his assistant coaches and held them accountable for the play of their individual units and players and that kept Coach above the fray so to speak and because he wasn’t involved in chewing out players directly gave him more power over the entire team in a strange sort of way that I cannot really explain but most importantly the approach that Coach Bryant took made all of us want to play that much harder for him.”
Now as you take in all of the above one must believe that Paul Bryant told his assistant coaches when he hired them that he was going to hold them responsible for the area of the team they coached at that there may indeed be times when he would get on his coaches in a very direct way during practices and in games when he probably should be getting after the player who did something wrong so the assistant coaches shouldn’t take what he says to them personally but instead should take it as a message for the assistant coach to get after his players.
On a related note we once heard former Auburn head coach Pat Dye say in a radio interview that he fired his offensive coordinator Pat Sullivan several times each game only to hire him back quickly and no doubt Dye learned a Helluva lot in how to be a head coach in the NINE seasons that he spent on Paul Bryant’s staff at Alabama.
Memo to Paul Johnson: Not only is it bad form to be yelling at your players all the time it’s hindering your football team’s chances to win more games and that’s what football is all about…
Winning Football Games
….and when you go to Charlottesville and lose to a Virginia football team that has won FIVE ACC Conference football games in the last THREE seasons then you have a Helluva mess on your hands and that is what Paul Johnson and the…
3 – 6
….Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have on their hands right now….A Helluva Mess!
To get bowl eligible which is a borderline DISGRACE at Georgia Tech they will have to win their last THREE games against…
Virginia Tech At Miami Georgia
Damn….looks like Paul Johnson’s ass will be on the Hot Seat for a Helluva long time going forward!
16. Mike MacIntyre, Colorado – We are reticent to criticize Mike MacIntyre with the Stanford football team headed to Boulder along with several dozen Coaches Hot Seat members this coming Saturday for a game between the Cardinal and the Buffs BUT there is no getting around the FACTS that now in his THIRD season at CU Mike MacIntyre is sitting on records of…
Overall: 10 – 23
Pac-12: 2 – 21
….and has a 4 – 5 record on the board in 2015 and we are still wondering how in the Hell that Colorado lost to Hawaii in the opening game of the season when having ONE more win on the board this season would have been HUGE for the CU Buffs!
Now with the 4 – 5 record in come Stanford to play Colorado as 16 points favorites which looks like a HUGE line to us with the Buffs playing a lot better football in 2015 BUT if Colorado does lose to Stanford they will face these remaining games needing TWO more wins to get to a badly needed bowl game:
USC At Washington State At Utah
Damn….coach hard Mike MacIntyre…coach hard Son!
17. Steve Addazio, Boston College – With the Boston College loss to Virginia Tech on Saturday the Eagles continue their falling to pieces routine in the 2015 season because that is FIVE straight losses and an 0 – 6 record in ACC play this year and which leaves Addazio’s records in his THIRD season at BCS at:
Overall: 17 – 18
ACC: 8 – 14
Damn….that is BAD and getting WORSE and the Eagles still having to play these games this season:
NC State Notre Dame at Fenway Park At Syracuse
Hell….Boston College could be 3 – 8 when they head to play at Syracuse on November 28 with Steve Addazio coaching that game for his job….well…probably not…but certainly sitting on one of the Hottest Seats in the country in 2016 if the current trend continues!
18. Bret Bielema, Arkansas – We asked our Arkansas-alum buddy who lives in the Ft. Smith, Arkansas area recently what the mood around Arkansas will be this coming offseason if the Razorbacks have a losing season in 2015 and his response was….
“Pissed-Off with a Capital PO!”
Are you thinking what we are thinking that if Arkansas does end up with a losing season in 2015 that when Bret Bielema goes out in the next 10 months or so anywhere in public in the state of Arkansas that he is going to get his ass lit up?
Yep…that’s what we were thinking and with the Razorbacks now sitting on a record of 4 – 4 and with these games left to play…
At Ole Miss At LSU Mississippi State Missouri
….if Arkansas loses its next THREE games you will be able to yell SooooooooooooPig as loud as you Damn want in that game against Missouri in Fayetteville and NO ONE will hear you because there will be NO ONE in the stadium!
Damn…could Bret Bielema who was feted by everyone in Arkansas country over the last 10 months actually post record in his THIRD year on the job of…
5 – 7 overall
3 – 5 in SEC play
Yep….and if that happens Arkansas fans will be….
“Pissed-Off with a Capital PO!”
Oh by the way Arkansas fans…you are paying Bret Bielema…
$4 Million Dollars A Year
….and if he wins FIVE games in 2015 with two of those wins coming over teams that Bill Clinton could have coached Arkansas to wins over that will work out to…
Freaking $800,000 Per Win!
Got “Pissed-Off with a Capital PO?”
19. Mike London, Virginia – Congratulations to Mike London and Virginia for not quitting and continuing to play and getting that nice win over Georgia Tech on Saturday which raises UVA’s records in 2015 to…
3 – 5 overall
2 – 2 in ACC play
….with these games still on the board to play:
At Miami At Louisville Duke Virginia Tech
Can Mike London win THREE of their last FOUR games to get to SIX wins a bowl game?
We don’t see why the Hell not!
20. Paul Haynes, Kent State – Uhhhh…Paul Haynes….head coach at Kent State….your team just got its ass whipped son by the score of…
48 – 0
…by Bowling Green that drops your records in 2015 to…
3 – 5 overall
2 – 2 MAC play
….and Paul Haynes records at KSU in his THIRD year on the job to…
Overall: 9 – 22
MAC: 6 – 13
Memo to Paul Haynes: How about beating Buffalo Thursday son or at the Very Damn Least don’t get your team’s ass blown out by the Bulls….is that really too much to ask Paul?

1. Mike Riley, Nebraska – Although we talk to people all over the country about college football programs who we will quote anonymously in this blog to protect their identity we have only quoted current college coaches THREE times in the last 9 football seasons and today will make it FOUR times. A couple of days after Mike Riley was hired by Nebraska from Oregon State last December we were having a drink with a current Pac-12 assistant coach who said to us the following:
“Perennially, the coach with the softest team in the Pac-12 is hired to be the head coach at Nebraska? Please…tell me what sense that makes! None is the answer to that question!”
THINK about this for a second…
Mike Riley who spent the vast majority of his life on the West Coast and almost all of his coaching career at Oregon State which has played on TV dozens of times so there is plenty of tape of the Beavers for anyone that was interested in hiring Riley to watch where in watching that tape they would have found mediocre football for the most part, but more importantly teams that could and often were pushed around when playing the big boys in Pac-12 conference play is the FIRST choice by Nebraska to be their head football coach?
Please…the Idiocy of the hiring of Mike Riley at Nebraska really knows NO DAMN bounds and points to someone….whether that be Nebraska AD Shawn Eichorst or him and others that were involved in hiring Riley….that these folks just have…
No Damn Freaking Clue About Nebraska Football!
As we have written about many, many times in the Coaches Hot Seat Blog we have a great infinity if not downright love for the People of Nebraska and over the past couple of decades we have spent hundreds of days in the Omaha area on business often at night dining with alums and sometimes former football players at the University of Nebraska and if someone asked us to draw up a list of 100 coaches to replace Bo Pelini at Nebraska there is NO doubt in our minds…
Mike Riley would not only have NEVER been on that list of 100 coaches to replace Bo Pelini….Mike Riley’s name would have NEVER entered our minds because we are talking about…
…and Nebraska Football is NOT about a quarterback standing three yards behind the center throwing the football and we thought that everyone in Lincoln had come to understand that FACT when Bill Callahan’s Sorry Ass was hired and then appropriately run out of the Great State of Nebraska!
Mike Riley is a fine fellow and if Mike Riley called ANYONE here at Coaches Hot Seat today and said he really needed “X” done besides taking his ass of the Hot Seat we would do it in a nanosecond BUT Mike Riley no more should be nor has earned the right to be the head coach at Nebraska AND eventually either tomorrow, or the next day, or the next week, or the next month, or maybe even next year Mike Riley will be fired at Nebraska and appropriately…
The Stupid Son of a Bitch that hired Mike Riley
…will also have his Stupid Ass run out of town and NEVER be hired again at a big-time football program like Nebraska!
We have a list here at Coaches Hot Seat…
Worst Head Coaching Hires in the Post-Bear Bryant College Football History
….and here is the Top 10 of that list as it stands today:
1. Charlie Weis, Kansas
2. Charlie Weis, Notre Dame
3. Gerry Faust, Notre Dame
4. Bill Callahan, Nebraska
5. Lane Kiffin, Tennessee
6. Lane Kiffin, USC
7. Mike Riley, Nebraska
8. Mike Price, Alabama
9. Howard Schnellenberger, Oklahoma
10. Ron Zook, Florida
Charlie Weis for being the list TWICE!
Lane Kiffin for being on the list TWICE!
Nebraska for being on the list TWICE!
How does it feel fans of Nebraska football to be in the company of Freaking Charlie “Decided Schematic Advantage” Weis and Lane “Someone find me a mirror so I can look at my Precious Ass in it and make it quick” Kiffin?
Do you feel ashamed fans of Nebraska football?
You should feel ashamed BUT be ashamed for the RIGHT thing and the RIGHT thing is that you let THREE Complete Morons get into positions of power at the University of Nebraska:
Chancellor Harvey Perlman
Former AD Steve Pederson
Current AD Shawn Eichorst
Without the THREE Husker Stooges as they are known here at Coaches Hot Seat there is NO…
….thus no reason to hire Bo Pelini and then there is also no Idiot around to hire Mike Riley who we point out posted a record in Pac-12 Conference play at Oregon State of…
58 – 63
….and over the last FIVE seasons at Oregon State posted a Pac-12 Conference record of…
19 – 26!
A record of 19 – 26 in Pac-12 Conference play over the last FIVE seasons can get you the…
Freaking Head Coaching job at the University of Nebraska?
Please…is there ANYONE in the state of Nebraska that can explain to us how current Nebraska AD Shawn Eichorst is still employed at the University of Nebraska?
Geez….getting back to the point here…that Mike Riley after the Huskers Total Debacle against a Purdue team that has been getting its ass whipped for a few years now is on the No. 1 Hot Seat after that Total Debacle against Purdue are 3 – 6 on the season and still have to play games against…
Michigan State At Rutgers Iowa
For some reason a quote from Paul “Bear” Bryant comes to mind in this spot and we aren’t talking about the head coach at Nebraska when using this quote but rather the chancellor’s office at the University of Nebraska:
“Make no mistake. You start at the top. If you don’t have a good one at the top, you don’t have a cut dog’s chance. If you do, the rest falls into place. You have to have good assistants, and a lot of things, but first you have to have the chairman of the board.”
As the main character in the Michael Crichton movie Disclosure…Tom Sanders…played by the Great Michael Douglas in the movie…is reminded of over and over again after problems keep cropping up even after he believes he has fixed the real problem is told in messages which says…
“Solve the Problem….It’s Not Over”
…if the fans of Nebraska football REALLY want to “Solve the Problem” they MUST actually…
Solve the Damn Problem
….which is Harvey Perlman’s Sorry Ass should be run out of Lincoln before he does more damage to the University and the Nebraska football program.
In our humble opinion of course!
2. Mark Richt, Georgia – A couple of Coaches Hot Seat members were at the Florida – Georgia game on Saturday and worked their way down to the field just before halftime so they could see Mark Richt up-close as he took his team into the locker room down 20 – 0 and later that night one of them said what they saw in Richt’s face as his team left the field:
“A man that was totally defeated and it seems almost shell-shocked and if we didn’t know better even downright not caring that his team was getting its ass kicked by its main rival.”
What is going on with Mark Richt?
The usual competitiveness, the punching back, the good-natured gabs, the gritty competitor…those are all gone it seems and what is left it looks like to us and this is from not seeing Mark Richt up-close on a daily basis is a man that is one of only a very few things:
A man that has lost his fire to coach football
A man that is questioning the importance of football in life
A man that is sick
We certainly hope that Mark Richt is not sick and would imagine he would put his own health ahead of coaching football so let’s move to what we think is going on with Mark Richt at Georgia and this is just a guess BUT a guess based upon what is now patently obvious to anyone paying attention to the goings-on in Athens:
Our opinion is that Mark Richt has lost his love for the game of football and thus coaching the game of football which is driven by how much importance and thus pressure that is placed on Richt and the Georgia players from fans of UGA football which Richt believes is terribly misplaced and warps what he is trying to do which is to raise young men to be great older men while playing some football while they are at the University of Georgia.
Now assume for a moment that the above is correct and we don’t have a clue if it is or not since we cannot read Mark Richt’s mind BUT if even one iota of the above is in Richt’s mind it’s no doubt is having an impact on the amount of energy and enthusiasm that Richt brings to his job each day AND thus to what all of us see on the field each week AND what we saw of Georgia on Saturday against Florida AND what we have seen in recent years from Bulldogs football which is a Helluva long ways from the football that Georgia was playing when Mark Richt first got to Athens.
Getting back to the 2015 season the Bulldogs have played 8 games and are 5 – 3 on the season AND here is how that seasons breaks down…
Beat one FCS team in Southern
Beat four FBS teams that have combined record of 11 – 21
Lost to three FBS teams that have combined record of 18 – 6
In other words Georgia has beaten NO ONE in 2015 and what is the reason for that…in our humble opinion of course?
Georgia…YES the Georgia Bulldogs in Mark Richt’s 15 th year on the job do not have a FBS quarterback on their roster
Georgia’s defense is AVERAGE at best against good or great football teams
Mark Richt is about as motivated as the common house cat to win games and championships at Georgia anymore
Add those THREE things up and you have a Helluva mess on your hands and that is what Georgia football fans are facing right now and into the future it seems until either Mark Richt finds the fire to coach again or Georgia finds itself a new head football coach.
Up next for the 5 – 3 over and 3 – 3 in SEC play Georgia Bulldogs:
Kentucky At Auburn Georgia Southern At Georgia Tech
YES….Georgia has plenty of talent to win ALL FOUR of its remaining games but there is enough chaos at UGA right now to lose ALL FOUR of its remaining games as well!
3. Kevin Wilson, Indiana – The Indiana Hoosiers were off in Week 9 but get back at things with a game against Iowa in Week 10 and then the 4 – 4 Hoosiers finish the season against…
Michigan At Maryland At Purdue
…and one would have to think that since IU head coach Kevin Wilson is now in his FIFTH season at the school and has ZERO .500 or better records that the Hoosiers will need to find at least TWO more wins for Wilson to be back coach at Indiana in 2016…right?
One would think but then this is Indiana football we are talking about here and maybe one can survive going FOREVER without a .500 or better record and hang onto your job because after all….
This is Indiana Football we are talking about here!
4. Dana Holgorsen, West Virginia – The West Virginia Mountaineers got crushed by TCU on Thursday night by the score of 40 – 10 which dropped WVU’s records to….
3 – 4 overall
0 – 4 in Big 12 Conference play
….and left head coach Dana Holgorsen’s records now in his FOURTH season coaching West Virginia in the Big 12 Conference at….
Overall: 21 – 24
Big 12: 11 – 20
….and if those records are acceptable at West Virginia….WELL…
“Where have you gone, Rich Rodriguez, Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you. What’s that you say, Mrs. Robinson. Jolting Joe has left and gone away, Hey, hey, hey Hey, hey, hey”
Up next for West Virginia….
Texas Tech at home this coming Saturday in the…
Better Damn Not Lose Game of the Year for head coaches Dana Holgorsen and Kliff Kingsbury!
5. Todd Berry, La. Monroe – With La. Monroe’s loss to La. Lafayette on Saturday that is SIX straight losses for the Warhawks and a 1 – 7 record overall and now in his SIXTH season coaching at La. Monroe Todd Berry is sitting on records of…
Overall: 28 – 41
Sun Belt: 20 – 23
….and we don’t have a clue if those kind of records can keep you employed at La. Monroe or not BUT it will be interesting to find out in the coming weeks if that is so!
The 1 – 7 Warhawks have left on their schedule….
At Troy Arkansas State At Texas State At Hawaii New Mexico State
….so let’s just keep playing out the games and see where this all ends up because there’s not much else La. Monroe can or should do at this point.
6. Chuck Martin, Miami (Ohio) – At the cradle of coaches which Miami (Ohio) is known since the below coaches have led this school’s football team during its illustrious history…
Sid Gilman Woody Hayes Ara Parseghian Bo Schembechler Bill Mallory Dick Crum Randy Walker Terry Hoeppner
…things are not going so great these days with the Redhawks and current Miami (Ohio) head coach Chuck Martin now sitting on records in his SECOND year on the job of…
Overall: 3 – 18 MAC: 2 – 11
…and we certainly expect that in these last THREE games that Chuck Martin and his football team do SOMETHING!
Eastern Michigan Akron At UMass
It’s a Damn mess at Miami (Ohio)…there’s just no getting around that FACT!
7. Darrell Hazell, Purdue – A BIG Congratulations are in order to Darrell Hazell and his Purdue football team for their win over Nebraska and for the Boilermakers continuing to fight and play hard in all of their games this season even if they have been challenged in actually getting some wins on the board! Not against Nebraska though with Purdue getting the win to move to…
2 – 6 overall
1 – 3 in Big Ten play
….with these games still left to play:
Illinois At Northwestern At Iowa Indiana
Hell….if Purdue plays the way it played against Nebraska they can win THREE of their remaining FOUR games and finish at 5 – 7 which in our minds would be a step-forward and might just save Darrell Hazell’s job BUT that is a BIG DAMN…
First….Purdue MUST beat Illinois at home on Saturday!
8. Gus Malzahn, Auburn – Against FBS teams in 2015 the Auburn Tigers have THREE wins over…
Louisville which is 4 – 4 on the season
San Jose State which is 4 – 4 on the season
Kentucky which is 4 – 4 on the season
…and losses to….
LSU Mississippi State Arkansas Ole Miss
…and one really has to wonder with the below games left on the schedule and with Auburn now sitting at 4 – 4 on the season…
At Texas A&M Georgia Idaho Alabama
….if Auburn finishes at 6 – 6 on the year…our best guess right now with wins over falling to pieces Georgia and Idaho at home….which would leave head coach Gus Malzahn’s records the last TWO seasons at…
Overall: 14 – 11
SEC: 6 – 10
….what would the Powers That Be at Auburn including the Athletic Director and the alums/big boosters that along with the very loyal fans at Auburn collectively pour Tens of Millions of Dollars into the Auburn Football program possibly be thinking then?
What the Hell is the point in spending north of $50 Million Dollars on Auburn football each year when it has a LOSING record in SEC Conference play over the last two seasons?
Our recommendation to Gus Malzahn: Don’t get blown out this coming Saturday night in College Station against Texas A&M son because if you do and somehow finish the season below .500 you will NOT be the head coach at Auburn come December…PERIOD.
9. Charlie Strong, Texas – Let it be recorded that in Charlie Strong’s…
21 st Football Game as the Head Coach at Texas
….that his Longhorns football team went to Iowa State….which has won FOUR Big 12 Conference Games the last THREE seasons combined….and lost to the Cyclones by the score of…
24 to Freaking ZERO!
Oh by the way….
Northern Iowa scored 7 points on Iowa State
Iowa scored 31 points on Iowa State
Toledo scored 20 points on Iowa State
Kansas scored 13 points on Iowa State
Texas Tech scored 66 points on Iowa State
TCU scored 45 points on Iowa State
Baylor scored 45 points on Iowa State
Texas scored ZERO points on Iowa State
A FREAKING SHUTOUT!
Now at 3 – 5 on the season and 2 – 3 in Big 12 play Charlie Strong and the Longhorns face Kansas at home on Saturday which with a loss would no doubt in our minds lead to…
Charlie Strong being fired in December
…..which is followed by games against:
At West Virginia Texas Tech At Baylor
Bottom-Line: If Texas finishes with a losing record in 2015 one would have to think Texas will be looking for a new head football coach come December and if we were Charlie Strong’s agent we would be talking to the schools that now have or will have open jobs in the near future because it’s going to be No Damn Fun to be in Texas in the offseason with a losing record on the board for Charlie Strong and his coaches IF and that is a BIG IF Texas keeps Charlie around for another year.
Our guess on what might be the best fit for Charlie Strong among the open jobs…
10. Curtis Johnson, Tulane – With Tulane’s very predictable loss to a very slow in getting out of the gates Memphis team on Saturday that drops the Green Wave’s records in 2015 to…
2 – 6 overall
1 – 4 in American Athletic play
….and head coach Curtis Johnson’s records at Tulane to…
Overall: 14 – 31
Conference: 10 – 19
….and we would recommend to Curtis Johnson he find a few wins over these last FOUR games…
UConn At Army At SMU Tulsa
….or the Tulane job will come open in December which in our minds is a job we would be very interested in getting with the amount of high school football talent that lives with a 5 hour drive of the school and that is sitting in one of the more entertaining cities in America!
